I love Cthulhu/Mystery Horror and I'm guessing since this is the 2nd con in a row Lou has run a game for me, he enjoys running them. SOOOO! Sit down an play with us next time. Lou runs horror like no one I've ever met. Louis Agresta wrote:

After doing the GenCon 09 costume contest for the first time this year, I realize what kind of A-Game I have to bring for next year. I wanna do a Pathfinder Iconic, but I don't know EXACTLY what I would like to do. I'm thinking if I did a Seoni, I could do some kind of effect of magic to make a few glowing bits or something. GenCon people really love the shiny glowy bits. So I guess this thread is for suggestions/photo references. I'll need as many photo references of suggestions as possible so that I can get as many angles and photos of jewelry and embroidery as possible. Thanks ahead of time. :)

The girl on the right in the Molotov Cocktease picture is a friend of mine. Sadly, she's not a gamer chick. However she is a huge Hentai geek and a burlesque dancer. http://whambampam.com/ I would like to add my friend Julia to this post however. As a child she played Table Top with her older brother and within the last few years has Larped a couple of times. I tried to drag her to GenCon this weekend, but she at the last minute couldn't find the money. She's a huge sci-fi and comic book nerd as well as very open to the possibility of picking up table top gaming every once and while again. oh and here: www.jiajem.com

Originally I was gonna make Boomer a quick Tiefling costume walk around with my in Lady of Pain. I think now, I'm gonna swing some a bit more Pathfinder! I should go look through the Campaign setting for ideas right now!

I know where you can get a fire trick that shoots out of your palm... but I doubt any convention would allow it! :P And I'll do the Make-Up for free at the con, but have you see the detail these pictures have of the characters?!?! If I did Merisiel studs would cost me 50$ alone!
It was a wonder con everyone! I wanna give a shoot out to my Werewolf Players on Saturday Night! Oooow! Ooooow! (<---Not a Werewolf! I swear!) Another shot out to the people involved in the 9 hour game on Friday that Lou DMed so I could make sure to get my game on! All the people in the infamous Rm 247! Great beer! Great Movies! Great times! Also all the people at Iron GM for giving me pencils and then giving me pretty good scores on my art even though I haven't really sat down to draw like that for a few years. Special thanks to the Argesta's for keeping me company in all our perverted and 'special' ways. Another to Ed Healy. Although you weren't there alot, you totally set the mood I had for the weekend and it all went awesome. Daigle, for just being Daigle and for bringing THE CANDYMAN! James M. for running that short, but fun Cthulhu game on Sunday! And last but not least. Ross, for getting Boomer and I to and from the airport to the hotel! Everyone was so nice and polite. I really appreciate it guys!

I hear Cosplay and my ears perk up from across the internet. If you dress up next year. I'll dress up with you. I'm trying to decide which Iconic.
>.<; Please don't do the Seoni Contest this year! I told Boomer I wanted to do a costume of her, however, with another convention and working on making Lady of Pain for GenCon, I probably wouldn't be able to put the love into it for Paizo Con! However, it would be a blast for a costume contest! If you needed ideas on how to run it or what have you, I have been involved in a few costume contests back stage in my day! Other interesting events:
I had also thought of a panel I was maybe gonna start to put together for GenCon 2010, Girlfriends of Gamers. Just a get together of girls who maybe aren't as huge into the gaming, but joined the boyfriends they loved. We could sit around playing cards, board games or maybe even have discussions on our favorite boyfriend/gaming stories. I'm a gamer myself, but I thought it would be awesome to just make the non-gamer girlfriends feel more at home.

I kinda picture it as being The Care Bears Movie mixed with Pulp Fiction and a little bit of Conan for the fantasy.
If I had to choose a favorite, it would be Christina. I fell in love with her at "Severed Head of a Dying Deity" However, overall, I just want to see Jason, Rob, Clinton and Christina make it to the last round. They have constantly shown me interesting ideas and I want them to move onto the last round so I can continue to see those ideas out until the very end.
Going for Christina and Boomer this round. Christina keeps me going every round with imagination and creativity and I really want to see what so does all the way up until the end. Boomer, although sometimes off the wall takes a lot of chances. I would also like to see what he would do all the way up to the end.
Hm, this makes me want to go through and reorganize the stat blocks into spoilers so that I can read the descriptions first. Its like showing the math problems written in number form and then giving the word problem. I'm confused in most cases on the board thus far. I kinda feel bad for some of the contestants because of that.
As a theatre major you really pulled a heart string when this turned out to be an actor bringing the adventurers down with his awesome acting skills. It was a pleasure reading your country, my number one pick. And this round you were there are well, which is hard for me because I like to give myself a big picture to look at. You have the talent, and you will go far. I'm rooting for you!

:) I just wanted to say, that I don't doubt that it can be done in 500 words... its just hard for someone the first time to create one in 500 words. I work on student made movies and an example of what I am trying say is this: The first movie I made with a new director... we worked on a shot for 3 hours. But I've also done shots with more seasoned directors that can take about an hour. And even then, other directors could get it down to a half an hour. That being said. Even though one director took 3 hours and the other took 1 hour, you can still get the same dedication to creativity. The same idea of effort and imagination put into. You just have to keep in mind that the director, or in this case, RPG Superstar, isn't a seasoned professional. Look for the action behind their villain... even if they couldn't do a villain in 500 words up to par of a professionals author, you can still see what they are working towards as their end product.
Mactaka wrote:
I see what you are saying. But how can they do all that... with 500 words? Especially when they are taking hints from last round to make their entries stronger. Its a puzzle game really.

I swear, when I read some people talking, I feel like Milhaus being lectured by the comicbook guy on the Simpsons about the "first appearance of Radioactive man's sidekick." I'm going to drink myself into a stupor now. I totally understand where you are coming from. I feel like a lot of post and 'critiques' I read on this board anymore are people just trying to say "Why don't you just take the villain I have in my mind." I hardly find any posts anymore in this competition that are more along the lines of "I don't like this, this is how I feel you could make it better, thanks for putting yourself on the line to bring me some of your creativity." It kinda makes me want to stop reading people's opinions at all. thatboomerkid wrote:
All great examples of villains made to stick in your mind because they were based on a long running plot. This is why I find it so harsh when people read the villain ideas in this round and totally degrade the villains made. None of these villains were given stories, thus how can they be 'epic' now?
For some reason, I to saw Carnamach with a sandy grounds as well. Not to say its desert, but with white stone walls of almost ruined cities and sandy grounds that vines rose from, until its almost hard to tell that the lands around the towns were once not a forest of types. I like the idea of a creature that was found in their tombs, it adds to a country I really loved, but I am not sure it really fits. However, I do love the villain. More to come once I have read the other entries.

Theocracy of Carnamach I'd play either a human cleric of the Dying Deity (NG, and obviously naive to the face that her fellow priestesses are kinda hiding something) or a Fey (LN, trying to figure out the best way, anyway necessary to put the poor deity to rest) That's the only one that really screamed a character at me, however I bet if I went back and read some of my other choices I could come up with characters for them as well.
The Unseen, wow what a great idea. I loved the way you laid out the land so any number of things could go on. Especially because the layout lends itself to horrible things happening to its occupants. The DM section gave me a twist I liked! Its really killing itself from the inside out! Brilliant! You're GM section was definitely my favorite of all the entries, which is saying a lot since I used the GM section to overall decide on my top 5!
It caught my eye first up with the Wandering part for sure. As I read into it, the artifact hit me as a wonderful idea for such a concept. It has adventure written all over it, along with the idea of protecting it from those pesky dragons! Although the writing was a bit awkward in places, it was easier for me to read then most entries. I felt you went with your guns on this one, and I feel that important overall.
I told my boyfriend I wanted one of these entries to scream harsh and technology... obviously hoping for something dwarven that was new and fresh. This one caught my attention! The GM notes about the slaves and the monsters... I was drooling! On a side note, the alignment kinda threw me for a loop. LN? It seems a bit to evil for me... Where is the good in this country to even it out? I am hoping once the voting it over you might be able to speak on this subject.
I'm a big fan of a nation being headed by regions, especially if those regions have an importance to the overall well being of the land. Every Prince has his own ways of ruling hoping to one day get his place at the thrown. It was well written in such a way that my dyslexia didn't get the best of me. You made my top 5 for sure!
I must say it was a hard choice for some, but when it came down to it, I picked the ones I felt had an eye catching opening and interesting secrets to discover or hear about. Carnamach

I really liked this entry. It was full of imagery and adventure. I could imagine myself an adventurer going into the kingdom of Carnamach to dig up godly treasures, and staying around to see what could be done about the poor dying deity. You have me interested for sure. Great Entry! You get my vote! GM Haru has not created a profile. |
