Enjoy the weekend!

Beerfiend is also a misnomer, you see, I like Beer, which is why it disappears in my presence, rapidly.

Beerfiend themesong

And here is beerfiend, mostly needing some finishing touches, and to un-wrath-of-the-rigtheous his background :)

You guys have brains? I actually dont, thats why I became a Skald with a substance abuse problem.

Beerfiend moves inside, ready to be attacked by whatever must be hiding! (Right? Right?)

Ready, expect a fight. Something pulverized that fly and is still here, so it probably doesnt eat, which means it probably isnt mortal.

Askold opens the door, obviously after leaving time for others to declare readied actions.

Something killed that fly, something with claws, and it is still inside. The water looks weird as well!
Askold whispers as he adds 2 and 2, the fly was blocking the entrance, so whatever killed it is still there, unless its capable of teleportation.
stealth: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (4) - 3 = 1
Appropriate KN for the water: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21 +4 on top if religion

He consumes his mutagen, having lowered his shield (quicker then removing the scizzore) assuming that claws mean something hostile, and that the thoroughly pulverized giant fly strongly indicates something strong, before moving back to the inner door.

Looks like this door will resist the exploratory efforts, thankfully I am relatively strong so
STR: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 Perhaps overloaded, Askolds first kick does absoluetly nothing.
Damnit, lets try again

STR: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Askold tries to ram the door open with his shield, to no avail!

Nobody saw that! I think I need to use my head now think Askold!

STR: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19 Struck with inspirations, Askold headbuts the door an it finally gives way
Askold Beerfiend, super genius! He chuckles at his own antics.

Hmm, another door and what could be holy water?

He positions himself in front of the next door, weapons at the ready.

I did do a cheeki breeki check on your profile and noticed that you indeed had profession soldier :)
Askold seems tense, having shield and Scizzore at the ready, seems ready to pounce at possible hostiles inside.
Should I have consumed my Mutagen? Ah well, no clear sign of hostiles observed so far, and it only lasts 10 minutes.

Male | Speed 30ft/20ft | 1st: 3/3 | Active Conditions: None | HP12/12 | AC 17 (19 with shield) T 12 FF 15 (17 with shield) | F +4 R +4 W +1 (+5 vs Charm compulsion) | Perc 3 | Ini 2 | Skald 6

Assuming he did not find any hostiles before the temple

Well gentlemen, we cannot assume that there are no hostiles in the temple itself, as such.

Askold redons his Scizzore, hefts his shield and cautiously approaches the door, occassionally looking upwards and also back, waving at Constantine to do likewise.

Constantine prof soldier DC5:

You quickly notice that he has both hands full, and thus could only kick in a door, he is also clearly intending to be the "breacher", likely prefering you to open the door and him moving through first.

Askold seems to be the tankiest, partly because he uses a shield, so he is imho on "first through the door" duty for the forseeable future.

A temple to a god of the crusades is a most welcome sight here. We may find temporary shelter, and/or incredibly useful supplies.
Askold assents as he is investigating the area for threats.

Maybe even beer! A cool crisp Dwarfen Lager would be great about now! But I cant use my remaining spell for the day on a frivolity, although, if we can secure the temple, Torag may well appreciate me casting tears to wine in such a fashion, to provide a suitabe votary gift. Could be risky though, my tears to wine isnt up to truely good standards yet, and if Torag is famous for one thing its a high expectation of quality.
He thinks.

Hmm, shrine to Torag? Bunker like structure? likely inhabited, if no then there is probably a good reason for that as well.

Careful, these ruins should be prime real estate for what counts as the local wildlife, the we dont see any may well just means that its stealthy.
Askold checks the area.

Guessed correctly, spellcaster.
Probably more powerful then me because I think he did something akin to the speak with the dead spell, but without components, like a Shamen or speaker for the dead maybe? He is too calm to not be a spellcaster is this situation.

Askold thinks as he produces his ration to have it prestigiated into a rat.

From its perspective we are the invaders, it feels wrong to just kill it hmm

He first checks if anything there pings as magical, then he gets a funny plan.
Mr. Pakk, I have an idea, but it would require both of us. Do you know the mage hand cantrip? If yes, we could do the following thing: I take one of my rations, this meat here is roughly the size of a rat, although I do hope it isnt made from rat meat, and make it sound, via ghost sound like a rat. If you could use mage hand to move it as if it was a rat, we can probably make the snake eat it. Vipers tend to swallow smaller prey, which should make it chill, particulary if I throw that a bit further away from the tunnel we wish to proceed through.

I did consider alter self scale to turn myself into a Nagaji, and while they do get a +2 to handle animals with snakes, this is a) not on the list of stuff you get with alter self and b) still doesnt allow you to make it untrained and c) Nagaji are pretty esoteric close to the worldwound. I personally follow the "must have seen it to alter self into it" rule, or at least "must plausibly know it exists".

Askold probably knows that Kurgess is rumored to be her son, and that she killed Aolar because researching who or what actually kills demon lords (probably made easier by the current top scorer in that regard likely using her killcount as propaganda to gain converts) is like, the most important Kellid research topic. Not sure if he knows about the coalition of chaos thing in the aftermath of Desnas kill.
IIRC Anevia is a Desnan in the CRPG, no idea if thats true in the AP.

marching order:

I am pretty tanky, no issues with being first. Note, we may want to invest in having one PC at the rear. Both Anevia and Arashnival are movement impaired, and could easily be cut off. Military practice in small groups is to have the second in command make up the final spot.
I dont think banking on Horgus of all people to notice Anevia and Arashnival falling behind is a smart idea either. Do we have anyone who is ranged?

The most I could realistically illusion, if I had learned the appropriate spell which I didnt. Would be about 10 feet diameter, that He points at the star-lichen, Is not me

None of that would even work like that, seriously. Oh Kurgess, is this guy in a "be the biggest a!@~%&$! during a life threatening situation"-competition? Because if yes he is doing pretty well.

Askold who likely touched some of the scales (how many are there?)
This is really useful. I guess Terendelev isnt truely done fighting, nor should we.
For now Askold takes one.
I could either bluff myself into or through a demon position, or levitate, both are incredibly handy, the latter in particular

Desnan burial rites, kn religion: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

Another fallen how did he get there? Hmm, is there a hole in the ceiling somewhere where startlight could get through? Desna and Kurgess are on friendly terms, and to be frank, nearly anyone fighting Goatface Dogtitson and Buggy Mc Bugface the replaceable protein supplement are friends.

If there is a place where starlight can touch the body, we could move it there, I believe that is how Desnans would prefer to be laid to rest in such an extreme situation.

Assuming he finds such a place, reasonably nearby, he will move the body there, open its eyes so it can see the stars one last time and intones in a slight singsong:
perform Oratory: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27 I better come up with something good
Oh Song of the Spheres,
thy friends travels on this world have ended
his travel to you has now begun
take him, who was murdered before his prime
to thy Elysian fields , where his soul
shall fly free and dream and explore.

After he is done, Askold gently closes the dead Elfs eyelids.

I would argue that tears to wine has experid now. Feel free to add, do we have any actual Desnans among the party or NPCs?

Kn. Religion: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20 Is resurrection a thing? Didnt that need a part of the deceaseds body?
We should take the scales with us, and split them among each other. If one of us reaches friendly lines, then with the aid of a powerful enough cleric, Terendelev could maybe resurrected. Askold says and takes one scale.

Did you gain insight about him Mr. Pakk? Was he friend or foe? He asks Pakk.

I see roughly fist sized magic aura lying on the ground surrounding the cropse, there is more magic in a backpack a bit away from it. Approaching, this is too valuable to pass up.

Askold moves in to collect the things found, approaching the corpse for that.

I generally assume that SLAs are visible when cast, as there are feats to

I would also argue that, since

Relevant FAQ: Concerning detect evil there may be others.

FAQ:

What exactly do I identify when I’m using Spellcraft to identify a spell? Is it the components, since spell-like abilities, for instance, don’t have any? If I can only identify components, would that mean that I can’t take an attack of opportunity against someone using a spell-like ability (or spell with no verbal, somatic, or material components) or ready an action to shoot an arrow to disrupt a spell-like ability? If there’s something else, how do I know what it is?

Although this isn’t directly stated in the Core Rulebook, many elements of the game system work assuming that all spells have their own manifestations, regardless of whether or not they also produce an obvious visual effect, like fireball. You can see some examples to give you ideas of how to describe a spell’s manifestation in various pieces of art from Pathfinder products, but ultimately, the choice is up to your group, or perhaps even to the aesthetics of an individual spellcaster, to decide the exact details. Whatever the case, these manifestations are obviously magic of some kind, even to the uninitiated; this prevents spellcasters that use spell-like abilities, psychic magic, and the like from running completely amok against non-spellcasters in a non-combat situation. Special abilities exist (and more are likely to appear in Ultimate Intrigue) that specifically facilitate a spellcaster using chicanery to misdirect people from those manifestations and allow them to go unnoticed, but they will always provide an onlooker some sort of chance to detect the ruse.

As he notices Arrius using detect evil.
Eh, I wouldnt be powerful enough to detect as evil even if I was, and there are like 6 or so ways to circumvent it? Of which I could have one available realistically? Not going to tell him that.

I spotted something under that bodies hand, lets find out what. Unless that body detects as evil, which means its probably undead.

Dretch? Greedy and vain, could become a Nal-something? The hell were those huge greedy pig demons called, s#~@, I filed them under "run away right now" so I dont remember anything? But individual soul strength seems to weak for that. Probably gets devoured as a Larvae. Or doesnt end up in the Abyss at all, Hell probably got a better claim on him.

Askold watches the exchange with some interest.

But maybe I should leave the judgement to Pharasma. What do I know. If I look at him, clearly a merchant, possible noble. A man of some means who has likely spent most of his life to earn more. Now, Demons happen, everyhing is on fire, and he clearly seems to be the weakest person in this cave, weaker then either of the cripples, or the others, surrounded by people who all clearly possess abilities he does not have. So what does he do? Yes, seek to assert his relevance, by offering what he has, cash, seeking to avail himself of rare resources, such as protection and safety, in return. Is he in that regard different from me? Look at me, I am Askold Beerfiend the occassionally useful, keep me alive!

Little of his inner monolouge will show, his thoughts being his own.

I am hardly averse to moonlighting as a mercenary or bodyguard, I would however add that that the most effective way to keep you from harm is to keep adversaries away from you, and me between them and you, ideally closer to them then to you. These things are almost certain to carry diseases, I recommend cleaning your weaponry of their viscera. The enemies were coming from the northern tunnel. They are also fairly weak, yet survived in that direction. What lurks in the southern one may well be stronger.

If Cyan is not ded yet
Beerfiend strikes at the Fly, inflicing a sizeable wound upon it that would kill him outright were he to receive it himself.

If Cyan is dead
Beerfiend turns and moves to eviscerate yellow fly.
attack Sizzore PA: 1d20 + 4 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 4 + 1 - 1 = 20
damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

Keep your guards up, third winged something coming from further down the corridor.

Maggots? How well are we equipped in terms of handling diseases? Filth Fever, possibly Demon plague will be a concern. I can sadly contribute only little to such endeavours.

Beerfiend softly speaks as he is scanning the area in the north for foes.

perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

I dont need a light source myself, but I am making dancing lights a distance away from me for the party.

I agree to pursue the northern passage. Beerfiend states.

I can scout, but I am not particularly stealthy, and I cannot move too far away from the light sources I am providing. He continues

Kn. Nature: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 1 Bardic kn. +2 tears to wine

I am unable to authoritatively assess the drag marks.

He moves ahead towards the northern passage attempting to be stealthy and
Stealth: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (5) + 2 - 4 = 3 not being very good at that.
perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 +2 from tears to wine
His sight is pretty decent though.

Mrs. Anevia, Mr. Arashnival, Mr. Gwerm, I am a front line combatant, as such you do not, in your current states, want to be next to me or rely on my for locomotion if and when violence happens. I can supply you with dancing lights for visual aid though. Mr. Zeno, perhaps you can assist Mr. Arashnival? Beerfiend speaks, his suddenly highly professional mode of communication quite at odds with how he spoke earlier.

It seems something at its way out of the carcass, meaning more of that something could still be inside, or whatever ate its way out is here and we dont see it. Stay on your guard everyone.
He continues in the same vein.

We should indeed follow alongside the draft. Acting is better then getting acted upon.

Careful, could be undead, could be things inside it, could be a great way to catch goatfaces-rot-crotch by getting close. This is a warzone, assumptions get you killed. Askold states matter of factly, as he wraps parts of his cold weather clothing around his nostrils and mouth.

goatfaces-rot-crotch Kn. Local or Heal DC 8:

Kellid term for Demon plague, common affliction in the Worldwound.
