I am having serious problems trying to access the PFS Sessiontracker. Everytime I try to log on it tells me I have the wrong credentials and when I request to reset my password it says it sends it but in fact never does.

Can someone please help me with this as my groups depend on session tracker for us to keep what we can play up-to-date. Please and thank you.

Sovereign Court 3/5 *

I am having trouble logging onto PFS Tracker, it says "wrong credentials" but when I try to reset my password it will not send the reset to my email.

Sovereign Court

but anyone know of any good fauna that are known for coming from Iobaria (specifically the bloodpine forests)?

Sovereign Court 3/5 *

However, to go along with the original question.... What was the year (Golarion Calendar) for Season 4?

Sovereign Court 3/5 *

Never mind. Found the season.

Sovereign Court 3/5 *

Have a question concerning a specific story arch from 1st Edition PFS. Is there anyone who can help me with that? And I have no idea where to put this question, so sorry if it is in the wrong place.

Sovereign Court 3/5 *

And that is the problem with the DCs in 2e. More often than not they are written so that most will not be able to achieve them at low levels. I have played several games where only 1 or sometimes none can make the rolls. Of course, this makes it not very fun for people to play the scenarios when they are made to feel useless on checks.

Sovereign Court

I am a bit confused. If the hex a witch gets is a "focus cantrip" and there are "focus spells," then does a witch maintain a focus pool and what is the difference between the focus cantrip and focus spell?

Sovereign Court 3/5 *

Of course, unless the Witch's familiar is a powerful creature....one doesn't really put a familiar into play anyways. They are essentially just a living conduit for a witch to be able to cast their spells.

Cool, too bad the Quests aren't all repeatable as well.

Thank you, Michael! That would eliminate a lot of confusion over the issue.

Also, good news in the errata for dwarves and clan daggers. Does that apply in PFS as well(that all dwarves start with a clan dagger)? Since it’s a wealth thing, best to be sure.

And per errata gnomes have access to kukris and gnome weapons now. So better weapon access in general, it seems!

So does this mean that the Kukri is treated as a simple weapon for Gnomes (like in the Gnome Weapon Familiarity feat)? Or do they just have access to them as a martial weapon?

Sovereign Court 3/5 *

Have the Bounties been set to the Repeatable Tag?

"Hex cantrips are special hexes that don't cost Focus Points, so you can cast them as often as you like, though you can still cast only one hex each round."

So, while they're an off-shoot of Focus Spells, they're still cantrips and can be used as much as you'd like without costing Focus Points.

So, they would be treated more like innate spells then, as opposed to actual Focus Spells?

Not sure where you get that pets are so popular, but from what I have seen with how companions and familiars are approached...it seems to me that 2e is trying to push them out of play. For instance, in the 2 groups that I actually take part in (play/GM) animals are rarely seen. And when they are, they are rarely used.

While I don’t mind the maps in the middle, I would ask that some care be made not to split box text up around a full page map. Having to turn two pages can make the natural flow of the speech get interrupted. Minor frustration, but I would think that it would be a solvable problem with a little care.

Or at least make the page change in between paragraphs!

As for the stat blocks, when I am not running on Roll20 or in a PBP, I so tend to print them separately, much like Ferious Thune, so that I can see the set up info (and developments) while also having the stat blocks. Fewer page flips is better.

Not to mention, I have found in the ones I have run so far, these awkward breaks in block text allow the players to begin doing their own thing while I am trying to find the rest of the block text.

Another problem I encounter often is how when the hand outs are made to have flavor of the scenario, the text themselves are often hard to read. If you are going to insist on making the handouts with the story's flavor, maybe increase the size of the font or pick a different font that would be easier to read?

Also, I agree with Nefreet. I often have to pause the game so I can decipher what I can read to the PCs (outside of the block text) and what they shouldn't know at that point.

Nope, I have problems with that too. There are a number of things I try to "purchase" and get the message that my character doesn't qualify for the boon.

If you're only talking katana, then Avid Collector is an easy fix. Its fairly cheap for a boon. I bought it for my Tian warrior because I got tired of waiting for a regional list. Though that's not a great solution if you want a collection of Tian-themed weapons.

Once again the problem is it might provide access but does not provide proficiency in the item.

The boon doesn't prevent you from using what you obtained the boon to gain Access to. There's plenty of things that don't even require a specific proficiency to use (look at all those aeon stones for just one example).

However, if you're not proficient in Light Armor, don't get Avid Collector to buy elven chain; if you're an archer, don't get Avid Collector to buy greater disrupting rune expecting to put it on a longbow; if you're not proficient in Martial Weapons, don't get Avid Collector to buy a katana, katar, kukri, or spiked chain.

The boon is plenty useful.

From what I could see on that boon it was granting access to things one could already buy when they could afford it, and if you want it for one of the weapons or armor listed then the player was SOL. Yes, it grants Access, but Access will not let you use it. So you just spent 20 points for nothing.

Sovereign Court 3/5 *

I think I'm missing something. When was it ever implied that the boon granted anything except Access?

What good is a boon if it is only to say "you can buy it but you still can't use it"?

I agree, while scimitar is the best choice construction-wise to a cutlass...besides Forceful there is no reason to use it. Although, looking at the description of the Shortsword...nothing says it couldn't have been forged to look like a cutlass as both are slashing and stabbing weapons. So I suppose until an actual cutlass is made that a swashbuckler can take advantage of (Precise Strike, etc) then I see no reason I can't go with a Shortsword. Especially since a rapier is not what my specific character would use.

Is the avid collector AcP boon how you get your uncommon items.
It is but the list of sanctioned items is limited and it only covers the CRB currently.

Another issue from how it is explained to me is that yes, that boon and others may grant you access to an item but you still don't get proficiency in that item. And then normally when you take a feat to gain proficiency in that item it will not advance when your proficiencies increase in gameplay.

Sovereign Court 3/5 *

Has there been any update to this? Currently I am about to start the new Ruby Phoenix AP, and if my character works in that then I would like to make him into a Society character eventually. But that would require access/proficiency to weapons common to Tien-Xia, primarily Minkai and Shokuro.

Personally, I think that too many things in 2E get pushed to late level before they become options, but that’s where we are. I’d have preferred taking Weapon Proficiency once to give you scaling proficiency with that weapon, so you’re not spending a 13th level feat just to keep pace with everyone else.

I completely agree. This has been made such an unnecessarily complicated system when it comes to such things. "You can't use that weapon, you don't have Access to it. "Well, you have Access to it but you don't have Proficiency. Well, you have feats that give you proficiency but it won't scale without more feats. Oh, ok, of all these weapons, you only have proficiency that will actually scale in this small handful of weapons."

I have a character I have brought along for years. She is based off a character I saw on a tv movie and she became my character for Skulls and Shackles, which then led to her being one of my favorite characters in PFS1, which led to her being one of my 2e characters. In she is a Witch and Swashbuckler combo.

My question is, I would prefer her to have a cutlass rather than a rapier. Is there any way known to make a scimitar a finesse weapon in 2e? If not, may I suggest that in the near future maybe a feat (general or maybe even skill) or a magical item (like a talisman or a weapon wrap, etc) be made which could allow one to use a one-handed weapon as a finesse weapon that would allow it to be used with Precise Strike or Sneak Attack?

Does this really matter though since covid has dealt a rather heavy blow to Pathfinder society? Since we aren't allowed to set restrictions on "in person" sessions and online play is really nothing compared to in person, a decent amount of people are refusing to play somewhat altogether.

Can we get an update that allows VOs to set conditions on in person play, such as proof of having the covid vaccine, so that we can safely start doing in person official pfs again? My entire state has essentially shut down their society play because of covid. Nobody really likes to play online. In comparison to in person, it really sucks.

We've all invested a lot of money and time into the local playing area, but nobody wants to go play without proof of vaccines, but apparently we aren't allowed to gatekeep anti vaxxers out? (I know this sounds harsh, but so is potentially killing someone or causing them long term damage due to their personal choices)

We literally started discussion of closing down weekly society play for our entire state semi permanently today. For over a decade the group has been playing pfs almost every week (except on major holiday weekends) and now they're going to shut it down because we can't keep the anti vaxxers out due to paizo ruling? Nobody wants to play with the risk that someone brings an active covid in, unless they all have the vaccine.

It all depends on where you live. For instance, our group has been able to play in person for most of the pandemic so far. It is possible to play in person, just have to look into exactly what your state or local restrictions are. We have been using Warhorn so we could limit attendance to one table, and making that table so it provides adequate distancing for the players and GM.

I know there was a way in PFS1 was able to take the feat Dervish Dance to gain finesse with a scimitar/cutlass. But is there a way to get a feat or something where I can apply finesse to the scimitar/cutlass to be able to get Precise Strike as a Swashbuckler?

Sovereign Court 3/5 *

Not exactly pertaining to the exact question, but anyone know if it is possible to sell back this boon? I bought it for my rogue then realized that it only granted access and not actually granting proficiency in that item to the PC.

Thanks!

From my understanding, once you lose it....that's it. It is gone. Of course with how fragile animal companions are in 2e unless you put them in plate barding and make them Mature or above Companions, it is better to just keep your companions with "the supply train" or might as well leave them behind.

Unfortunately I am unable to download the boon. Although I found on another thread on here that even if one character unlocked the boon, it can be applied to a different character. But I still am unable to download several of the chronicle and player boons.

How can we find out the details of a specific chronicle sheet we earned for a specific scenario?

Well, I see those who heal with Negative Energy can use Oil of Unlife instead of Potion of Healing.

One thing I would love to see for 2e eventually is access to something like in 1e where it can convert positive energy into useable negative energy to heal beings like Dhampir and Wayangs.

I agree.

1) If the boxes are put back on the chronicle sheets and one doesn't like using them? Then just don't use them. But for those people who actually use them and the boxes are still removed...you can't use them.

2) why put equipment items on the sheet if everyone has access to them already

3) grouping equipment access gained by tier would be useful.

Thanks for the advice.

It depends on the character. Barbarians have Raging Athlete to get a Climb and Swim speed while raging. Humans can get Bonuwat Wavetouched, though that requires Bonuwat Ethnicity (but might be accessible via an AcP boon to get access to another culture's options). On my water themed Champion, I took Viking Dedication, which doesn't give a Swim speed, but does make successes with Athletics to Swim count as critical successes. Combined with Assurance and depending on the DC and your base speed that can mean a 10-20 foot swim without a roll.

EDIT: Add swim fins into the mix for another 5-feet if you know you're going to be in the water.

Unfortunately doesn't look like it will help me then. I have a Witch with a Pirate Dedication (think Uma from Disney). So she is a half-elf from The Shackles

You can get a Pegasus mount in 1st Edition PFS.

Here is how you do it.

Have your 1st level character play all six quests in Pathfinder Society Quest: Honor's Echo (PFRPG).

On the chronicle sheet you will get :a figurine of wondrous power called: broken figurine of wondrous power (alabaster pegasus):

At a higher level and when you have enough gold you can upgrade it by paying 8750gp.

It then becomes a figurine of wondrous power (alabaster pegasus): Other than its appearance, this figurines functions identically to a figurine of wondrous power (ebony fly). <- This part is important.

You then get Companion Figurine and the Vermin Heart feats and boom you now have a Pegasus animal companion that can fly at 8th level. In the case of this figurine, the usable duration of the companion figurine doubles and you may use it up to six times per week for up to 12 hours per use.

Man, wish I had known about this when I was at first level. In 1e I have a 7th level Shieldmaiden that I want to make into a Valkyrie.

I am not sure if this falls under this topic or not. But the Avid Collector boon, it says one "gains access" of an item off the sheet. Does that mean you can just buy it or that you become Trained in that item (if it requires training)?
