Howdy! As Wolfgang, this character was part of a campaign that went ded, much to my demise. He is level 3, so I'd have to kick him down a notch.

His backstory and such will be what they are, but I may switch to ranger (Idea is to multiclass between ranger and fighter).

Quick question regarding character creation: is still the stat generation method roll or 27 point buy? And what woulf happen if roll is abysmally abysmal?

Grand Lodge

This is Emissary of the North, simply posting from this alias because it was my first and only contact with 5E and I did enjoy the streamlined nature of the edition.

Also because I liked my rangery fighter.

I won't say I will play a simmilar character, but it's a possibility -I do like martials with more than weapon skill-

And I do love rolling for stats, so here we go!

Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 2, 5) = 13 11
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 6, 5) = 19 15
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 6, 1) = 17 16
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 4, 4) = 16 13
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 6, 6) = 15 14
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 1, 5) = 11 10

Seems like a great array, a mighty one indeed. Won't have to tank any stat with that!

Glazing at the pseudodragon, Alex rubs its neck cautiously "It seems more amiable than Dunwich." before walking to the front to take point "I'll lead again, can't fight from behind... You all ready?"

OOC:

To speed things up, as soon as the rest say they are ready Alex walks forward.

Alexander tires to adjust his eyes under the oppresing darkness. The would-be ranger turns to the rest and ask "Any of you magical gifteds can make my sword shine or should I start lighting a torch? I can't see a blasted thing."

Nonetheless, he takes point again at the front.

Mechanics:

Moving to G8 and lighting a torch if nobody can use Light on my sword.

OOC:

Quick question, too: can I carry my greatsword with one hand while I carry the torch in the other? The idea is dropping the torch if combat starts.
If that's a Nay, I will swap to the longsword.

And another question that I just realised: are movement penalties cumulative? Because I have just realised that between my armor and medium load from not carrying the backpack in the cart I would be at 10, so every combat O'll have to drop it to move "freely"

Forgot to add the square Alex moves to D,9

Reacting with quickness, Alexander moved forward and turned, dashing the last meters until he was just by the creature.

With a smug smile, Alexander prepared his sword and said "Got'cha."

Mechanics:

If I have not misread the map, using the Dash action I could end in the square adjacent to the thing.
Quick question, if it is prone can it disengage as usual? I will follow and smack anyway next round, but I am curious.

Alex wonders to himself and mostly everyone there "Why can't we talk things out for once?!" before he draws a handaxe and throws it while moving forward to intercept the golem.

Mechanics:

Moving to B, 10
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
In case the torch doesn't negate disadvantage: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Can't make an appropiately long post right now, but consider Alexander going the first with his sword drawn.

P.s.- I am very excited to explore this thing.

"Thank you for your kindness, Count." said Alexander before turning to Wolfgang and winking at him.

Using the connection that the "wizard" established, Alex thinks towards Wolfgang "What now, sir Wolfgang of the Gang of Wolves? We have a promise to keep with the Count's son... but the appearance of the dogs sure is strange."

Alexander doesn't waste his breath with any words, simply sitting and trying to tend to his wounds.

The warrior is badly injured, but it is the foul beasts' putrid maws what worries him the most.

Mechanics:

Hit Dice Expended: 3d10 ⇒ (5, 5, 4) = 14
I regain Action Surge and Second Wind during the short rest.

Alexander, still reeling from the vicious attack, grabbed his sword and sprung to action.
Standing up as he lunged with his sword towards the dog attacking Pip, the warrior gritted his teeth.

Mechanics:

Grabbing the sword -if that is an action by itself, Alexander would draw his longsword-, standing up and moving towards T, 7 before attacking
Dog #3

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Disadvantage: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (5, 4) + 3 = 12

Mechanics:

Death Save: 1d20 ⇒ 1
Disadvantage: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Well, f+!~. Even without disadvantage that's two failures.

Grand Lodge

The disadvantage caused by the diseased condition applies to saves and attacks... does it apply to death saves?

The root of the disadvantage makes me think so -I mean, you are deeply sick... you are screwed- but I wanted to be sure.

Edit: I checked it... it actually seems to apply. Here.

Grand Lodge

Alexander felt the dizzyness overcome him as the fangs ravaged his flesh.
I... cannot go... like this he thought to himself.
Gathering his strength he brought down his sword once again against the harmed dog.
"I can't outrun these beasts! I'll hold them off if we can't prevail!" he yelled as the sword flew.

Mechanics:

Using Second Wind and attacking Dog #1
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Attack w/Disadvantage: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (2, 1) + 3 = 6
Rerolling 1s and 2s as per Great Weapon Fighting Style
Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (6, 3) + 3 = 12

Gritting his teeth, Alexander watched as the dogs approached.
Outnumbered and surrounded, the young man still had no fear to bear... he did let loose his bow, but before the weapon hit the ground he acted: spinning on his heels, Alex drew his greatsword and brought it down on the wounded abomination with a downwards circular slash.

The attack was wild indeed, but powerful too.

Mechanics:

Dropping the bow, drawimg the greatsword and attacking Dog #1
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (2, 5) + 3 = 10
As per Great Weapon Fighting Style I'll reroll the 2
Reroll: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Total of 14 damage.

Of course! Also, since I usually use my trusty greatsword, consider the shield and longsword part of the "I'm prepared for the worst" kit more than usually used implements.

"Dammit..." mutters the wannabe ranger at the sight of the dogs.

Nature:

Nature: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (6) + 0 = 6

The man moves to get a better sight..."What are those damned ugly things?" he asks as the first of his arrows fly, soon followed by another.
Mechanics:

Moving to S,7
Using Action Surge to make two attacks on D,14
Attack #1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Attack #2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Damage #1: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Alexander, who has been covering the slice with his bow alerted by the barking, dashes over when his companion informs them of the alive man.

The warrior arrives late, though, and he assumes a guarding stance again as he asks "Who... who could have done this?" before checking if there are any tracks or clues around that could guide them.

OOC:

Could we check for tracks around using Survival?
If so...

Mechanics:

Survival: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

"I concur, the pilgrims may have delayed for simple reasons... but if that's not the case I simply cannot step aside and let others do the job. Any additional information about their route would be much appreciated, my lord." says Alexander to the Count.

"And please, extend my gratitude to your heir. Your son was a most entertaining host, and he left me with the impression that one day he'll become a good ruler and a better man."
The warrior then turns to Wolfgang and concentrates, trying to speak with him in his particular way.

"But we should remember our deal with the boy. The treasure shall be found!

Alexander, who has been eerily silent since the ambush, both because he had never killed another human before and after the revelations , finally speaks to answer the man at arms

"I am not sure if you will be safer with us after the recent events... but you can count on me to protect this cargo until the keep. How many days of travel remain?"

Grand Lodge

"You won't escape to attack anybody else! Surrender your arms!" yells Alexander as he dashes behind them and attacks.

Mechanics:

Moving to (M,2) and Attacking (M,1).
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (4, 6) + 3 = 13

Considerating the place too harsh for ranged attackers, Alexander drops his bow on the barge's floor.
With a mighty leap the blacksmith follows the guard as he draws his sword mid air and lands with a mighty slam.
"Tally ho!"

Mechanics:

Jumping to N,4 and attacking the foe on M,3

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
No luck...

Grand Lodge

Alexander draws his bow and shouts back "You offer surrender after firing at us? YOU surrender your arms if you want to walk through this unscathed and breathing, that's my answer!"

Having said that, Alexander pulls the string twice in rapid sucession, flinging two arrows at one of the ambushers that carry no bow.

Mechanics:

Alexander uses Action Surge to gain a bonus action, which he proptly uses to make another attack.
That means two arrows that go to S-4.

Bow Attack #1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Bow Attack #1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Bow Attack #2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19

In response to Pip's joke and follow-up question, Alexander makes a gesture as if he was hanging himself.

The would-be ranger then proceeds to down the mead directly "You two have no curiosity at all, except when finding out how much will we get paid?" he says with a smug grin as he raises an eyebrow.

"Your wise shaman is right, oh great leader. But we have intentions too: that your kind and ours may live in peace for years to come, and that you take what you need from the earth not from the farmers. But take this as an advice, not as an order." says Alex once the gift is presented and he has returned to the rest "I could help your people, teach them our ways of the hunter and how to work the ground to grow crops. And so can others of our own, the best to help your people so a definite truce can be achieved... and no man with ill intentions come after us and you can live in peace for generations."

Sorry for the lack of posting! I've been caught with my two final exams and couldn't even warn you -because I ran out of available data on my phone too... yay for me!-

I will try to post tonight, but if I'm unable please just bot Alex as helping to the best of his abilities on the forging.

"We will leave to investigate, oh mighty leader, and will return when we have found the solution.... as both your people and ours can benefit from it." says Alexander to the goblin leader before trying to think for Wolfgang [i]"The orcish shield! OOC:

Alexander will buy another Hanging Tent, which will go to the cart with the rest of stuff he keeps there.
As for rations -or food and water for that matter- being an outdoorsman he will rely on his skill to cover that, and will try to provide for others if he can.

Once we travel there, Alexander knows nothing of magic... but he knows of the wilderness, its hazards and its rules. When travelling through the Mire he will scout their surroundings, trying to discern if the place is usual for water loggings, as well as the presence or absence of animals.

Basically I want to try and check if everything is usual, or there is any outside involvement be it manual labour provocking water to flow where it shouldn't or be it magic, which he could not know how but he may know that the situation isn't natural.

Alexander, a man who distrusts nobility and burgeosie, could at least respect the man's work hardened hands.

He asks for a glass of Dragon's Blood, and downs it while looking at him straight in the eye, trying to contain even the slightest flinch. "Hot as a forgefire." he says.

As Alex hears the job proposition he tries to discern the true motivation behind it. Even if Darius tried to act as he didn't care for anything but profit, his hands told another story... maybe he did care about the farmers.

"If it is to help the farmers I'm in. But if we solve the problem would you add another glass of Dragon's blood? To celebrate, of course."

OOC:

Got caught with assignments! Sorry.

Description:

Alexander will dress with his most expensive clothes. That's a clean white shirt more comfortable that fancy, one with rolled up sleeves and a cord around the collar, and plain brown long pants with pouches and straps to handle blacksmith tools.
Paired with sturdy leather boots.

Yay Fashion!

He will reluctantly leave his trusty greatsword as well as the rest of his gear.

Alexander sits, visibly uncomfortable at the fanciness of everything adn everyone present. He asks for Elven blush and while sniffing the thing he says "This sure smells well, I prefer mead or simple spiced wine, but it's quite good." turning to Pip he comments on his stoic appearance "You look like an army officer, Pip, I'm almost tented to parade in your honor hahahaha!" Well, why do you think we are here?" he finishes lowering his voice, as he distrusts most nobles and know they like to snoop unseen.

Alexander, with not much to do but waiting, goes find the blacksmith and asks to be allowed to work the forge, in order to keep maintenance of his gear.

OOC:

I'll do some blacksmith purely for flavour reasons and to not just lie waiting around.

Alex stares at the man "I get that the fear of losing Jelenneth is overcoming you, Andren. But sincerely and in all honesty I don't give two s#~#s about what you say about me, my friends or the rangers." he says while maintaining the stare "I don't do this for you, nor I do it so you all cheer me when we come back. I bled fighting the orcs so you didn't have to. And I am looking for Jelenneth because I care, I will keep fighting and helping because that's what I want to do... So talk as bad as you want of me and those who are helping us find her..." he says walking back to the table.

"... But doing so won't bring Jenneleth home sooner, nor will it alleviate your fears."

True enough, he said us his name... remember kids, never try to roleplay when you have just awoken.

Alexander smiles at the merchant "You are right, Traxus, I seem to be forgetful at times. Well, I do believe my partners agree, we'll escort you." he says as he drinks his ale.
When Andren gets alerted Alexander stands up and walks up to him, trying his best to calm him "Andren, relax. You shouldn't worry about the orcs. We found a hunting party, well prepared and armed, but we defeated them. The authorities have been alerted that orc activity may be on the rise, but that's all, and we'll deal with them if need be. About Jelenneth I'm sorry but we haven't found a clue, but that's still good because if, alas, she would have died we would have found out."

"We have veteran rangers helping us, and we'll find and bring her safe and sound. For now just keep calm, everything is going to be alright."
