PBP is Play-by-Post.
Please verify we are still doing the character creation as listed in the beginning of this thread? 5d6 7 times dropping the 2 lowest rolls and the lowest set. Twice and select the best group? Can adjust 2 numbers up/down equal values as needed?
Anthropomorphic Lemming Levels? What are those?
@Albion. According to the PHB, page 11, Wisdom table 1. With wisdom 5 or below,"Here or lower the character can only be a thief." Not sure why. It doesn't say anything about Int or Wis is the pages for the Fighter class. ?? Actually, on the Intelligence Table 1 on page 10, it says at 5 or below you can only be a fighter. ?? I was going to go Magic-User/Cleric/Thief. But it doesn't give that as an option for multi-class. As Magic-User/Cleric I'm limited to level 5 Cleric and Level 6 Magic-User. Then it's time to retire since I can't gain any level from there.

Where do I find weight of armor? Male Half-Elf Cleric (Corellon Larethian) / Magic User Starting Gold: 3d6 + 2d4 ⇒ (5, 5, 5) + (2, 2) = 19 /2 x10 = 95 Starting Spells:
Hmm..... I'll create a character sheet soon.
Anthropomorphic Lemming Levels? What are those?
I remember that rule starting before the 1st edition PHB had "1st Edition" on it.... Not sure where it came from but I don't think it is in that book. 4d6 - 1 ⇒ (2, 1, 3, 2) - 1 = 7
Str: 7
Interesting. I don't think I'll play a fighter! ;-)
Thanks for the discussion, it's been a good read. I'm in Shadow Dragon's camp, being old and just don't care what anyone thinks of me anymore. I played my first game in 1977. DM'd my first in 1981. Yes, we called it Dungeon Master back then.... I went many years "not playing" because they always wanted me to DM the game. That said I never considered asking for money because it was a fun hobby for me. DM'ing the games was playing! My wife wasn't very happy about the money that I spent on books and such when the household finances were tight. I tried to get her to play but she wasn't really interested. Funny to me since we met at a game! Anyway, my opinion, after all we all have them! Is that if someone wants to professionally run a game, and people want to pay for it, that's free enterprise. And if unpaid GMs want to enjoy a non-professional game, and people want to play in it, Great! They can. Just don't get in each other's way. Will big business snuff out the free games? Not likely. The Internet is a big place. If they close this site down there are lots of others. I'd hate moving again, but this is my third PBP site. Has anyone tried the "shareware" model? Back in the day.... software/game developers would create a game. They'd give away the first part of it, and sell the game expansion. There BBS sites where you could download the free part and the game would play to a point where you had to contact the developer and pay for the rest. ?? I thought it was a great model, and did enjoy several games that way. Castle of the Winds anyone? That way if you started but found that you didn't like it you didn't pay for it.
Details. Working on this is fun. So far:
Question: Can I take the Legendary Item in Mythic, as long as I don't take intelligent or upgradeable?
PFS: Never really figured that stuff out. Played a couple games but they really didn't seem different. ?? Character death: I've been playing since 1977. Have had LOTS of characters die. I love a good death! Die rolls. I've always thought it weird for characters to roll their own for things like stealth, perception, and disable device. IRL you don't know if you were successful until $h!t happens.... If you are comfortable doing it, I say do it your way. State that upfront and see who applies. Handholding: Sometimes players don't get the full details and may need to be 'kicked' in the right direction. I've GM'd before where I explained everything in what I thought was crystal-clear detail, and nobody in a 6 player group understood until I "stated the obvious". I'll do my best if I get selected.... Encumbrance: Understood. My games....: You are the GM. Good to know. Sounds good to me.
Yep. Have everyone provide default actions for if you cannot post. And rules as to when a character will be removed for being inactive. Possibly have stand-by characters, volunteers that will wait until there is an opening? That also makes it easier since the character is already created and the player has been monitoring the game so they won't have to read much to work into the game.
I was in a Discord game several years ago with almost 20 players. Note that I did not say 20 active players. We had about 6-8 active and the rest occasionally posted something.... The ones that didn't post for over a month were put out of the group, in limbo and could be added back in if the player ever came back. It was chaotic, but the core group and GM kept it going and eventually we reached the conclusion of the game where we beat the big-bad-guy and became gods. Or Gods, LOL!!! I'm not recommending that because it was a bit chaotic! but it was fun too.
I've done a PBP game on Discord and loved it. I have discord on my computer, iPad, tablet, and phone and can check/post multiple times per day. The game moves great and while reading long pages can be a slog you can search for something that you "remember" happening a few weeks/months ago.... Easy pictures can be posted in Discord. I find encounter maps for players to move their own character needs a better platform. Google files does a pretty great job of that. I've also seen Roll20 used. Not my favorite. Looks like a lot of interest, including me. Will you be setting up a different recruitment thread or is this it? Build rules? (Other than Core only) Time/end date for the selection?
Can I 'third' those questions? I'd like to submit a Legendary Witch with the Time patron. Human.
I've played with a lot worse! I'll put a CS together. no equipment makes it easier.... I'll look over the crimes later today.
Looks interesting but I'm currently waiting for the decision on another Carrion Crown game. Wouldn't want to start two of the same game even though I've never gotten past the first part of this one.... All humans!?! Interesting! What about plans for higher levels, Prestige Classes? None allowed? Ask in advance?
When will you be doing the selections?
Numbers:
4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 4, 4) = 12 Reroll: 1d6 ⇒ 3 = 14 4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 1, 6) = 12 Reroll: 1d6 ⇒ 1 Reroll: 1d6 ⇒ 1 Reroll: 1d6 ⇒ 1 Reroll: 1d6 ⇒ 6 = 17 4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 4, 4) = 15 Reroll: 1d6 ⇒ 5 = 15 4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 3, 5) = 15 4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 3, 2) = 9 4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 4, 3) = 17 So 14, 17, 15, 15, 9, 17.... Pretty good.
Taken past tier 5 a Mythic party can pretty much kill a demon lord in one round without getting a scratch. (Since they will beat his init and blast him to vapor before he can act!) The Gestalt/Alternate Mythic that GM Delmoth listed, "Shamelessly stolen" were: Alternate Mythic
So not standard gestalt. You play a regular character until the game would normally make you Mythic. At that point you gain the first "Gestalt" level of your chosen PrC. But, you really only get some HP and the abilities granted by the PrC, and only if you qualify for the abilities as explained above. Even without the little bits of Mythic above that can make an interesting character!
Definitely interested, and I like the alternate mythic rules. To me, the regular mythic rules make a party grossly over-powered by around 5th tier. I think you'll have plenty of Aasimar submissions.
Question: "Mythic Power: (1 per tier/day, recover only 1/day)" Not sure I understand. Did you mean 1 per tier and only recover 1/day? Points only usable for surge?
Dotting for interest.
dot! Not sure what I want to play, but looks like I've got time to think about it. I've started in this game 2 times but have never had the luck to find a group to get past the first book, or even half way.... Hoping my luck changes if I get selected here. I hope you're planning on 20+ applicants with some incredible builds. Once I get a CS started I'll post my answers to all the above.
Stat: 5d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 6, 4, 3) = 21 14
Assuming no modifier for race? 18, 15, 14, 14, 13, 11 Can't complain about numbers like that! How about another Kitsune, uRogue Sylvan Trickster? Didn't get selected for a different game but I can make him work here if allowed.
Anthropomorphic Lemming Levels? What are those?
Just rolling some dice here.... Not related to this game but I needed a place. Roll: 4d6 - 2 ⇒ (4, 6, 6, 2) - 2 = 16 Roll: 4d6 - 1 + 3 - 3 ⇒ (1, 3, 5, 6) - 1 + 3 - 3 = 14
Roll: 4d6 - 1 + 4 - 3 ⇒ (4, 1, 6, 3) - 1 + 4 - 3 = 14
Roll: 4d6 - 2 ⇒ (4, 4, 6, 2) - 2 = 14 Roll: 4d6 - 1 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (2, 2, 2, 1) - 1 + 5 - 2 = 9
Roll: 4d6 - 1 + 6 - 3 ⇒ (4, 4, 3, 1) - 1 + 6 - 3 = 14
16, 14, 14, 14, 14, 9
Anthropomorphic Lemming Levels? What are those?
Well, good point and I don't want to be dead weight for the party. I don't really like Cavalier.... Fighter/Bard seems even more MAD except that i don't need to boost INT for skills like I usually would for a bard. And if I focus on dex/con for the fighter, cha for the bard, that would work. Not much for arcane casting but decent combat skills. Full BAB, all good saves. Lots of feats and the bardic performance to buff myself and everyone. Wouldn't have any divine casting but could still do the Pharasmin-revering part. And I can get Diplomacy very high and work on Intimidation over time. Could be a fun character! I like Bards. I never got the book on the psychic stuff so don't know anything about them. Back to work.... Meeting (Ugh!) in a half hour!
Anthropomorphic Lemming Levels? What are those?
I like the Deific Obedience PrC but the Obedience for Pharasma is a bit difficult. Names of a new-born and newly deceased? How about Spitespawn Tiefling, Sanctified Slayer(Inquisitor, dedicated to Pharasma of course) / Sorcerer? Will have to look through bloodline options, but have to get back to work for now....
