Character creation rules:
Level 12
attribute creation: 4d6, drop the lowest, if 9 or lower, reroll that roll.
Skills: background/active skills are allowed
select a region where your character is from. this will give you access to regional feats, which you will be able to select one (this does not affect your total number of feats) and you can get the associated regional gear for free.
feat: follow normal feats. no elephant in the room.
starting gold: 110,000 (no more than 25% may be spent on a single item.)
Hit points: max at 1st level, roll the rest.
Races allowed: pathfinder core races, forgotten realms races found in the 3.5 Forgotten Realms Source book.
i need to do some more research about some of the other races of faerun, ones that incur a power level adjustment based off of 3.5 rules, or racial points from pathfinder. There is something i need to wrap my head around, so please do not think that this is final statement on races allowed. i will have this figured out by the time players are invited to this discussion board.
Ruleset: pathfinder/3.5 hybrid. items found both in 3.0/3.5 and in pathfinder 1e, pathfinder takes precedence.
books for reference: core rulebook pathfinder, all 3.0/3.5 forgotten realms sourcebooks, AD&D Encyclopedia magica, ad&d wizard spell companion, AD&D priest spell companion. 3.5 book of vile darkness
I am including the old school AD&D books because they have a huge variety of magical items and spells that add flavor and depth beyond the normal skein found on d20pfsrd.
RIZZENMAGNUS
for powerful races, or races that have greater abilities beyond normally found for the standard races
we are going to go with the Effective character level system from the 3.5 system.
so itll look like this:
Race/Subrace, Level Adjustment (LA),
Aasimar, +1
Tiefling, +1
Genasi +1
Drow (Dark Elf), +2,"
Duergar (Gray Dwarf),+2
Svirfneblin (Deep Gnome),+3
so, if you chose aasimar (+1 LA), youll be an 11th level character.
Steel Orchid
Sorry no idea if this is the right place to do this, but here goes.
This is the alt im working with / Tiefling, +1LA inc
4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 4, 2) = 8
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 6, 5) = 23 = 18

Elven Wizard Diviner - Foresight
Steel Orchid
Hi GM, Thank you for selecting my pc, Steel Orchid.
I have a copy of book of vile darkness, will give it a look over, see of there is anything that fits.
karlprosek
OK so we've got a front-liner (Chalkou), a controller illusionist (my as-yet unnamed PC), what looks like a blaster (Steel Orchid), and a Red Wizard. Then +2 more.
DM, are we approaching this like a regular party, like we all walk through a dungeon and fight monsters in a group? Basically I'm asking if we need to worry about party composition or if there's the possibility we are all separately after this maguffin and have to think about facing encounters on our own.
Steel Orchid
@karlprosek -> Seems about right to me
@GM, I am looking at the Fiendish possessed object in the Book of Evil GM, got a cool idea, just wanted to check it will work as I hope.
Steel Orchid
Tornado... Yakes!
there is RL and there is RL sorry to hear that GM
RIZZENMAGNUS
this is a very interesting group thats been assembled.
i based my selection off of the evil group, not so much the character, which has led to a group that is heavy with magic users.
this is going to be interesting, because i created the adventure kind of expecting a more balanced party. but this is fine, this configuration will work fine.

And again
Erin the Cursed
Going to use this profile now and then for her wife
Both still need to be edited with character details
Steel Orchid
sounds cool
Ashrael
I never asked, or if I did I've forgotten, for the alternate ability, do we have to roll or can we choose one?
Captain Valnar Valens
Hey hey, still alive. Got a profile and stats rolled, should have a character sheet up in a few days.
When it comes to making my cohort, should I use the same stat rolling and HP die rules?
Celafaer Morningfrost
Hi everybody!
I still have work to do on my sheet but looking at this lineup I might want to make a summoner instead of a controller illusionist. Unless our antipaladin feels like he can hold the front line down by himself?
If the PCs were chosen more by their organizations than their build then re-speccing might be on the table before we start.
edit: Oh wait we have 2 antipaladins. That's probably a solid front line. My mistake.
I do still have a question about whether this will be a standard dungeon crawl type adventure where us evil folks go around in a party together, though.
Ashrael
I JUST realised the other AP has the same archetype and everything.
I'm not sure we should double dip in that regard. If GM willing, I may need to rebuild her as something else, barbarian maybe, or warpriest that just puts a shovel, her sacred Weapon, between the eyes of heretics
Via a builder on my phone, thats roughly 4d8+17 damage (shikigami style tree)

yes, since everyone was chosen based off of their org instead of a strict character, i will say that people can chose to make a different character if they desire to. however, do not feel that you are compelled to. it is perfectly fine for us to have a group with two APs with the same build.
yes, as it is right now, this group does not have the traditional make up of melee, divine caster, arcane caster, skill monger. we have 2 melee's, 3 arcane casters, and a divine caster (maybe. im still debating this. looking at you, lapyd!)
I do still have a question about whether this will be a standard dungeon crawl type adventure where us evil folks go around in a party together, though.
the adventure does meet the criteria of a standard dungeon crawl. the party is being brought together to go after a thing of power. there are dungeons, or, rather, dungeon like environment for the group to travel through and encounters to overcome. there are traps, there are "monsters", sometimes judicial use of diplomacy intimidation will be necessary to elicit cooperation, and so on.
Looking at the characters that have been submitted before, i think that you guys do stand a decent chance at not dying immediately....
what if we took the assembled characters as they are now, and ran a practice encounter with them? i was planning on doing this anyways to give me some exposure to running a game with 12th level characters, as i havent DMd a game with 12th level characters before. itd be something like "you step out of a portal and see a blue dragon sleeping on a sand dune, sunning itself. it opens its eye and glares balefully at you for disturbing its solitude, and immediately takes to the sky and begins to circle overhead...." or something like that.
Ashrael
Captain Valnar Valens
Yeah I'd be down. Just gotta finish putting together the character.
My cohort probably wouldn't be along (running the ship and all) but since he's an alchemist I may just prepare myself a little gift basket. All the better to offset having to spend 10k on a seaworthy ship, anyway.

So I have a bit of a think, I want to ask, since this an evil campaign
New character, still a front liner, just different than the antipaladin
A human warpriest, desiccated to the Lord of blood. She was once very beautiful but for horribly scarred and was suddenly shunned by those around her. She completely lost it, picked up the closest tool and proceeded to go into a blood frenzy, and killed the entire clergy of her small town. Something awoke in her and she dedicated her life to serve the blood god. She grew and slowly started to become an avatar for him
Will you consider a CR+2 template?
Or I could go the route of the "paragon levels" that 3.5 implemented and take levels in "half friend"?

yeah, id go for either. i think the cr+2 equates to a +2 level adjustment, so youd be a 10th level character with a +2 template.

just a reminder, since this is an evil campaign, you, the players, can pull stuff from the book of vile darkness.
this includes but not limited to:
feats, like
VIOLATE SPELL [METAMAGIC]
The character can transform one of his spells into an evil
spell, and the wounds the spell inflicts are tainted with the
foulest evil.
Prerequisite: Any evil alignment.
Benefit: This feat adds the evil descriptor to a spell. Furthermore,
if the spell deals damage, half of the damage dealt
is vile damage. For example, a violated lightning bolt cast by
an 8th-level wizard deals 8d6 points of damage: 4d6 points of
electricity damage and 4d6 points of vile electricity damage
(but creatures immune to electricity take no damage). A violated
spell uses up a spell slot one level higher than the
spell’s actual level.
Special: A character may take this feat multiple times,
choosing a different spell each time.
spells, such as
Masochism
Enchantment [Evil]
Level: Asn 3, Blk 3, Clr 3, Sor/Wiz 2
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Personal
Target: Caster
Duration: 1 round/level
For every 10 points of damage the
caster takes in a given round, he gains
a +1 luck bonus on attack rolls, saving
throws, and skill checks made in the
following round. The more damage
the caster takes, the greater the luck
bonus. It’s possible to get a luck bonus
in multiple rounds if the caster takes
damage in more than one round
during the spell’s duration.
Material Component: A leather strap
that has been soaked in the caster’s
blood.
and
Stop Heart
Necromancy [Evil]
Level: Asn 4, Clr 4, Sor/Wiz 5
Components: S, Drug
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Touch
Area: One living humanoid or
animal
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: Fortitude negates
Spell Resistance: Yes
Channeling hatred and spite, the
caster calls upon dark power to give
the subject a massive heart attack. The
subject suddenly drops to –8 hit
points, then –9 hit points at the end of
this round. If someone immediately
makes a successful Heal check (DC
15) or somehow gives the subject
more hit points, she stabilizes. Otherwise,
at the end of the next round, the
subject reaches –10 hit points and
dies.
Drug Component: Baccaran.
magic items
Marrowcrushing:
Every time this
weapon deals damage, it
also deals 1 point of Constitution
damage.
Caster Level: 5th; Prerequisites: Craft Magic Arms and
Armor, boneblast; Market Price: +3 bonus.
: Made of black iron and covered in
evil symbols engraved in the blade, this +2 longsword adds
+10 damage to the wielder’s smite good ability.
Caster Level: 13th; Prerequisites: Craft Magic Arms and
Armor, unholy blight, creator must be evil; Market Price: 9,515
gp;Weight: 4 lb.
and so on
Chalkou
If templates are on the table I might drop a couple of antipaladin levels to make mine a Graveknight.
Steel Orchid
I think mine is in a ok place, the shape of her is rigth.
Ashrael
Yes, her Quasit is going UnRogue :) so you have some ranks to use
what was the ruling on building Cohorts?
Steel Orchid
I don't think Leadership feat is allowed Ashrael, thats my understanding. I could be wrong.
And WOW !! Half-Balor Template looks so cool.
Im a right in thinking its CR4?
Under Half-Balor (CR +1)
"The CR for A half-balor’s = CR 1 higher than a 'half-fiend' of its Hit Dice would normally be."
Half-Fiend CR = HD 4 or less, as base creature +1; HD 5 to 10, as base creature +2; HD 11 or more, as base creature +3. We are 12th level so HD12 = CR3 and the Half-Balor template is CR+1 on top of that. So CR+4?
Even with CR4 its a massive Template, you get.
Natural Armor: Improves by 3.
Abilities: Str +6, Dex +4, Con +6, Int +4, Wis +4, and Cha +4.
Holy moly, thats nuts
Immune to fire, and adds good to the qualities needed to bypass its damage reduction. Deals +1d6 fire damage with every attack.
Spell-Like Abilities
A Half-Balor with an Int or Wis score of 8 or higher has a cumulative number of spell-like abilities set by its HD. Unless otherwise noted, an ability is usable 1/day. CL equals the creature’s HD (or the CL of the base creature’s spell-like abilities, whichever is higher).
Hit Dice Abilities
1–2 Darkness 3/day
3–4 scorching ray 3/day.
5-6 Unholy blight 1/day
7-8 Poison 3/day
9-10 telekinesis 1/day
11-12 Blasphemy 1/day
wow
Ashrael
Didn't know about the +1, I was using herolab I just picked one of the options when I added the template
But following that, I'm at +3 then. But I'll change nonetheless.
And could you link where we can't take leadership? I may have missed that part
