Hi, I've signed up on Outpost but I'm new to playing via the forums and am looking for advice on the technical stuff. I'm familiar with formatting from playing on Discord, but I'm not sure how to... actually join the game.

You should see an Edit button, and put your character sheet in. You can click on other characters to see a format you like, or, you can use one of my characters as a template.

4. It is required in my games that you put certain information in your tagline (where you currently have "Male Human Dromaar Ranger 4") - your character's pronouns, max HP, AC, Perception, and saves are required. Other things such as your vision and hearing, and Exploration Mode, are encouraged, but not mandatory.

You can use Mia Moja's profile as a template if you like - so, for instance, I put far more than her gender in the field for gender.

5. Playing on the Paizo forums isn't that much different from playing on Discord. The game will move slower, in my experience - Discord moves too quickly for my taste. :)

The dice bot is built into the post editor - click "Preview" to see how you rolled, and continue editing your post. It is possible, but highly frowned on, to abuse the dice bot by rolling first and then deciding what you're going to do.

The maps are generally hosted on Google Slides, and there will be an active hyperlink at some point at the top of the screen. (I haven't yet received the scenario, so I haven't prepped yet.)

I do have two questions, though

1) How do I freely edit the tagline? or do I just put a bunch of info into the fields for Ancestry and the like? EDIT: Taking a closer look at the link you listed as an exmple, yes, that's what I do. Thanks!
2) (This is rather minor) Does anyone have a suggestion of a better Capybara or Pangolin Avatar than what Rollo and Cappy are currently using?

(Yes, I know only one is with me at a time during the adventure, but I wanted to be prepared so I put both in immediately so I didn't pull an animal companion out of my hat)

Nope, you're just faster at checking the Slides than the GM was at revealing them! :)

This is just an aesthetic/clarity issue for crowded maps.

Also don't feel bad about any delay, the entire team for my event is still caught up in the last battle of another scenario by a slow GM.

For a moment, I was afraid that I'd already played this scenario. Then I realized that I just ran a scenario with the same bad guys for 1e recently.

Does the scenario provide guidance on companions? Is it possible to purchase desert protection for a companion? Do they need it?

There is no guidance on companions.

Unless someone has an alternate suggestion, I'm going to rule that I only consider PCs. Your companions and familiars are fine however they are, whether they wear barding or desert clothing or just run around nekkid.

Soup - somewhat unrelated. Have you run Malevolence or Slithering (not PbP). My workplace group now wants to do Adventure books (not sure if I want to commit to a full AP yet) but is the prep similar? So far we've been doing the usual scenarios/quests/one-shots (just finished HsTR)...

Can my animal companions make the survival check or at least make aid checks (using my exploration activity to direct them, of course)? Cappy has by far the best survival modifier of +11.

I'm going to say no, because I don't think what a capybara would be looking for in a desert is what a PC would be looking for. It's to navigate your way, which would include stuff like climbing on dunes and surveying the land, etc.

That's fair. In the event of ambushes, I'll leave Captain Vappy ad my active animal companion for now.

I may be a little quiet this weekend as I'm helping at a con.

Sam will likely retrain a feat. Just putting this here as a self-note so I don't roll downtime.

I think I'll get rid of Minor Magic and get Quick Draw instead... Sam was a test-drive of Eldritch Trickster Racket. Which is so-so..

In hindsight, I'm not 100% sure Captain Cappy will be able to help the drowning captives unless he's allowed to shove them out of the water, but it's definitely what P.T. would do. Plus, he'd prefer not to remind Captain Cappy of his previous trainer, so running from the whips makes a lot of sense.

Are the captives in a position where they're floating, where cappy might be able to shove them out of the water, or is this a case where you'd need hands to pull them out from under several feat of water.

They were sinking, but I would have allowed a Successful Athletics check to mean that Cappy pushed them to the surface.

Whoops, I included the DC in the initial version of my IC post and the dice roller interpreted "1d20+7 DC 15" as 1d20+715. And then I forgot to set the right alias, so that post of mine has gone through quite a few edits.

I really ought to find a third action for when commanding an animal isn't practical.

Athletics has lots of options to control the battlefield. Though if you're going to stay at range, you may just want a magic item that grants an action, like a dusty rose prism aeon stone.
