A computer screen flares to life. It's Batman.

"Hello, Students," says Batman. "It's time for your first mission. This one involves you going to Gotham City. All you have to do is scout out a certain warehouse owned by Captain Cold. Find out what he's doing there. After that, return to report."

Uthor is about to reply to not-Kryptonian declaring that he would love to return to Atlantis and that it has plenty of air bubbles within the city to accommodate airbreathers - they were not barbarians - when the Batman interrupts.

As the Prince of Venturia and royal hostage in the court of Atlantis for as long as he can remember, he is nonplussed by the famous caped crusader. When the dark knight appears to finish his brief, Uthor treats this task as an opportunity to show that he does not belong here and asks a series of questions waiting for reply before asking another question: "Do you have an image of this warehouse and floor plans?"

"Do you have an image of where this warehouse is within Gotham City? Can I assume we can Boom Tube wherever we want?"

"What security do you expect?"

"Who do you expect to be inside? And, where is this Captain Cold?"

Looking sideye at Cable, he asks, "have you issued communication devices to the team?"

Cable produces four earpieces. Each one a futuristic walkie-talkie. "Use these to stay in contact with your team."

Uthor accepts a communicator from Cable and looks to the other students. "Do you know what this Captain Cold and Mister Freeze do? More than just cold-based powers."

"Or, any other questions?"

"Do? Well, they're bad guys, so, generally, they do bad stuff. Yeah, cold stuff too, good catch. Captain Cold has mostly been in it for the money, and notably is a long term nemisis of the Flash; so if he has a warehouse in Gotham there's a score nearby that he has his eye on. Mister Freeze is really a whole other story. Worse in many ways."

Uthor listens to Jessie and Mach 3 while putting the communicator in his ear. After a comfortable pause, the Atlantean prince adds, "that's a good point. What abilities do we bring to the mission? As an Atlantean, I stronger than your average human, and I also can control water. Which up here, allows me to control the weather."

"How about you?"

Female Human

"I'm rather robust. Thanks to the alien symbiote that is currently fused to my DNA" she laughs "And I'm pretty good with the weapons it provided me. Swords mostly"

"Mach3 is a code name ... and a specification; I can run and fly about 3 times the speed of sound. Faster when I try."

Parker's hair alights with green flames, "Flight, phasing, protective flames," green flames cover all of Parker's body and extend from him to cause knee-high flames to surround each of his classmates. "which I can also use to surround a foe."

"Well..." Catrina starts, twisting a pigtail. "I speak with the dead. And bones listen to me. Death is my friend."

She smiles sheepishly, opens her eyes wide, and cocks her head nervously.

Uthor smiles and nods to the four other students, even the necromancer. After a comfortable pause, he fits the communicator in his ear and asks, "It doesn't seem that any of us are particularly stealthy."

"I can create a cloud to conceal us landing on the room. Perhaps there are skylights or a trapdoor from which we can observe what is happening inside? Or Greekfyre, can you phase all of us inside?"

"I assume we want to stick together in case Mr. Freeze or Captain Cold are there, right?"

Catrina raises an eyebrow. "If i get close, I can ask the spirits about the place. They might know something."

"Metal or wooden doors should not be a problem for me to phase two of you through at a time." Parker answers Uthor as he looks at him directly, then looks up at the ceiling, "but not concrete or glass."

Parker then looks at Catrina, "I can only carry one at a time so I can carry Catrina. The other flyers in the group can carry other non-flyers of the team."

Uthor listens and nods, "aye. I can carry any of the non-flyers."

"So, the plan is to Boom Tube a couple of blocks away. Fly to the roof under the cover of a cloud of fog."

"Catrina asks the spirits about the place."

"Then, phase into the warehouse, two at a time, to check it out."

"Sounds good? Missing anything?"

"I have not ... but I also wasn't here. So maybe they're on their way? or late? or attacked by villainous Zoanoids?"

"Zoanoids?" Uthor repeats in curiosity.

Previously on Zion High:

In front of Zion High, an out-of-place big rig truck stops, its engine still chugging loudly. It has a distinct logo on the side that reads Pork Chop Express. The passenger side door opens and "Here I Go Again" blares out into the quiet neighborhood. A duffle bag flies out immediately followed by a large black garbage bag. A moment passes and a teenaged boy hops out. He is a good-looking kid with bright blue eyes, sandy blonde hair and a strong jaw. He is wearing well-worn cowboy boots, jeans and a sleeveless Harley Davidson t-shirt. He picks up the bags and turns back to the massive truck. His teen voice cracks as he calls out, "See you soon, Pops. Probably be kicked out in a week." He nudges the door shut with his shoulder before turning and heading into the school.

A sandy-haired teen slips into the room and cautiously approaches the group. Trying to not interrupt, he quietly asks, "Howdy all, Chance, is this for the newbies?"

Parker's flame aura dissipates as he extends his arm to greet the second newcomer, "Pleases to meet you, Chance. I'm Parker."

Parker then looks at Batman on the screen, "Sir, should we wait for Wayne and Timothy or head to Gotham City right away and the two of them can catch up to us when they get to school?"

Male Human Psion 10/Atlanteologist 10

"You should not wait for them," the Batman explained. "If they show up, Cable will send them to you."

Chance returns the friendly handshake with a warm smile, as well as any others that are offered.

"Checking out some dusty old warehouse sounds easy enough. Yo, boss, can I have one of those?," he requests, indicating the earpieces. When offered, he puts it in. "Hey guys, can you hear me?", he asks still standing next to the group.

Chance swings his arms to stretch out his shoulders. "Shall we get going?"

"Yes." Parker answers then moves to stand beside the boom tube and extends an arm as he looks at Catrina and Jessie, "Ladies, first." as Chance and Uthor see the pupils of his eyes become tiny green flames.

Not here, Cable broadcasts back. All the records are on the Watchtower.

Advancing the plot . . .

You boom over to Gotham City. The city is between Boston and New York. The aspect of the Boom was quick, you are there in seconds. Cable isn't with you. You all are on your own.

The Warehouse in the waterfront district of Gotham City. And Batman said you are there to scout and report.

"That's fun. How close do you need to get to ask the spirits?" Uthor comments and then asks Catrina. Fog begins to slowly appear around them, while the area immediately around the teenagers remains precisely clear.

Parker walks over to Catrina and wraps his arms around her, and his hair and feet flame on, "Ready to do some bad to do some good, <bella dama?>* "

Once again, a grotesque and very nauseating scene plays off as he skin and bones split and rearrange to make room for the Armor plating that soon covers her body, also making her much taller than her human self

Chance checks for any guards or cameras outside before approaching the building. If he doesn't see anything, he says, "I think that with a little run-up, I can manage." He follows that train of thought and does just that, parkouring up the wall, seemingly finding even the smallest handholds to use.

Wall-crawling.

Male Human Psion 10/Atlanteologist 10

The three of you see it. Captain Cold and Mister Freeze loading something into a truck.

It's also, still, bright daylight. And thanks for the fog cover, no one has spotted you yet. The two malefactors and their henchmen are moving materials around. Another truck is coming. Whether or not if it's here to drop off or to load up is something you don't know.

Seems like there's about 5 of us, right? Am I counting wrong?

With no one asking for a ride, Uthor slowly lifts off and brings his two-third of a mile in diameter cloud of fog with him. He precisely keeps his new team mates clear of fog, so they can fly to the roof of the target warehouse.

Since Uthor can see through clouds and fog, he keeps an eye on the villains. Their mission is to scout what they are doing and report back. Not engage with them. But, who knows what his team mates will do?

Liberty's Edge

Chance observes, waiting to see what the truck brings in.

Catrina, in Parker's arms, stares outward, past the fog, past the truck, past the living world. Who's there?

Male Human Psion 10/Atlanteologist 10

Catrina, you clearly see two zoanoids. One of them has blasters on his shoulders, another is a hairy monster. The leader, Captain Cold, is watching while four men unload what seems to be refridgeration units.

"Zoanoids?" Catrina calls to herself.

"Parker, there's two Zoanoids with them. I see blasters on one, some hairy monster on the other one. Are... are all their souls in sideways?"

Defenses: Dodge +7 (+12 Evasion); Parry +4; Fortitude +7; Toughness +7 (Defensive Roll, Uncanny Dodge); Will +8; Hero Points Gained: 1; Current Hero Points: 2 (second line) (third line)

Clarification, please. Are the two zoanoids that Catrina sees living zoanoids we are all able to perceive or spirits of zoanoids?

Parker quietly asks Catrina, "Did Jessie say all zoanoids are capable of sensing her presence?" Catrina can feel Parker tense up slightly as he asks her the question, "How close do I have to get you for you to use your powers on them?"

Female Human

"I won't say sense ... But it's possible, but only if they are hunters. And I seriously doubt hunters would work under villains like Cold. But just in case, be careful." she warns them

Oh boy, x-ray vision!

Chance's vision:

You sense the two Zoanoids. That's for sure. You see ten men taking out boxes out of the truck. You see a third Zoanoid. This one is an Enzyme.

Adventure Recap

The group has been sent to Gotham City in order to report on the alliance between Captain Cold and Mr. Freeze. Upon getting to Gotham City, it seems that Captain Cold and Mr. Freeze are employing Zoanoids to move their goods.

So far, an Enzyme (Enzyme III) has been seen. Why the two supercriminals are working together with Zoanoids are something that the group has to figure out. Oh, and the group has been told not to engage with the malefactors.

Catrina keeps her focus on the spiritual world, looking to see if there are any other ghostly presences.

Uthor lightly touches down on the roof of the warehouse surrounded by his cloud of fog. While he can see through the fog, he keeps the lines of sight to his companions fog-free unless others would intercept them.

A look of disbelief appears on Parker's face as he sees Uthor is about to try opening the door and whispers to him, "What are you doing? Stick to the plan. This is a stealth mission. Forcing the door off will make noise and leave evidence of tampering. Wait there until the others use your fog cover so I can phase them through the door, then I will phase you through."

<"Did he forgot the plan that quickly? Is he trying to sabotage the plan?"> Parker wonders.
