Therin Baldaros

sorry..thought i rolled a religion check earlier..man, i'm slacking...
Oh for the love of Sarenrae... therin says as he sees Dorn swing at Kaleena.
He tries to do his part in the ruse.
perform: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Kaleena Boomstick

"HEY! WATCH IT!" Kaleena says to the dwarf after he strikes her with his axe. "What is wrong with you?!"
when can she withdraw and run away and hide?
Glorin Too-Tall
|
As Dorn attacks Kaleena, Glorin shakes his head and calls out in Dwarven.
Perform: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
Dorn Gritstone
|
"Rraaaaaaaaaaghhhh??"
(I assume that while under this effect I can't attempt the performance check? Do I get additional saves each round, or is it 'until the haunt is broken'?)
| DamieI Morgethai |
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
"I don't think submit to the haunt is a good idea. I'm sure Kaleena feels the same." the alchemist continues to use positive energy to neuturalize the haunt.
Mustaparta

Therin successfully plays the part of a warrior, which satisfies ghosts. A thrumming chant of dwarven voices sounds through the hall, swearing, “And wed ourselves to duty”.
Yeah, not possible to do anything else than attack, while under the effect. If this had continued longer, you could have tried new save each round.
Kaleena Boomstick
|
Kaleena has her own heal stick and will hand it to Therin for healing all the while gripping her musket and frowning at the dwarf... for obvious reasons...
Heal Stick: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Heal Stick: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Heal Stick: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Dorn Gritstone
|
Breathing hard, Dorn wipes some sweat away from his forehead with the back of his hand and gives Kaleena an apologetic, awkward grimace.
"Ehhhhrr.... sorry there. Yeh looked like an ogre, in th' grips of that...."
He clears his throat, not sure what else to offer as apology. "...'dja wanna shoot me once, to even it up?"
Kaleena Boomstick
|
Kaleena moves over to the double doors in the middle. "I dont think we've checked this room out yet." she tells to the others and begins to realize the floor outline looks like a double bladed axe.
| DamieI Morgethai |
Damiel has his hand in the pocket for one last bomb, while holding CLW wand on the other.
"Who wanna bet there's yet another god dam haunt behind the door?"
Dorn Gritstone
|
LOL
Kaleena tilts her head to think about Dorns offer and replies "Not now... maybe later..."
"Aye, business first!"
At Damiel's comment, he says "Not takin' that bet, lad."
Dorn takes point at the double doors. As usual he listens before opening.
Per: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (5) + 15 = 20

The runes on the northern door of this chamber are Dwarven, and in that language read,
will to defend, announce yourselves and enter.”
The door is locked and likely magically sealed. Eerie feeling emanating from the other side is chillingly similar to haunts you have encountered. Dorn doesn't hear anything though.
Kaleena Boomstick
|
Kaleena steps back as the others investigate the doors ready with her musket should something solid and not ghostly attack the party.
Dorn Gritstone
|
Dorn reads the translation aloud in Common for his non-dwarven allies, and scratches at his jaw, studying it. Stand against injustice? Sired by the will to defend? Is that him...?
Hmnnn. Well he doesn't like it when fights are unfair, that's injustice. And he defends his fellow agents by killing things before they can get killed. Maybe it counts?
"Right, I'm openin' it!"
Dorn rests a hand on the door and shouts in Dwarven, "Dorn, son of Clan Gritstone!" then pushes it open.
Mustaparta
|
Therin doesn't hear or see anything remarkable. Despite his best effort, Dorn couldn't push the door. All of you remember the odd phrases haunts in this place recited when defeated. Could they have a deeper meaning?
Glorin Too-Tall
|
Glorin smacks his forehead in deep thought. "Those words, they're some sort of oath, aren't they?"
He grimaces, butts his head against the wall a couple times, and tries to put things together.
"Something like...
By sweat and blood, we have come here
We who are born with blade in hand
We who are sired by the will to defend
Pledge ourselves to the Firebrand and her mistress
And wed ourselves to duty"
Kaleena Boomstick
|
"That is odd to say the least.... haunts that give you a specific death cry as they extinguish... also makes it much creepier." Kaleena says to the others hoping Therin or Damiel or the Dwarf can make sense of it all. "Is that the right order of phrases?"
Dorn Gritstone
|
"Ah, glad they sent a smart dwarf! Me own head don't work so good after some of the blows, ha!" Dorn says with a clap on Glorin's back, and waits to see if the words are effective.
| DamieI Morgethai |
Damiel would rank solving riddles way behind thermite charge, adamantine pickaxe, and picking lock. Unfortunatly his preferred door-opening method are all unavailable at the moment.
"Do we have to pledge ourselves to Firebrand?" The elf sighs, running out of patience.
Mustaparta
|
The words do have effect on the double doors as necromantic energy fades considerably, even though its still strong enough to resist attempt to force them open. Thanks to Glorin reciting the words, however, its now possible to pick the lock or break it with brute force.

Disable Device 1st try: 1d20 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 12 + 2 = 17
"Slightly more difficult than I thought......" Damiel speask as he jiggle the lock pick in the keyhole
Disable Device 2nd try: 1d20 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 12 + 2 = 25
Kaleena Boomstick

After Damiels first disable attempt Kaleena sees his frustration at his misfortune and thinks the trap, if there is one, will go off so she moves back and hides behind someone sturdier.

Took him a while, but Damiel managed it eventually. "The dwarf surely know how to make good lock."

The doors finally creak open. A brilliant crystal chandelier hangs in the center of this open room. Five portraits hang on the walls: a Chelish man in plate armor pictured with a sword and shield, a half-elven woman leaning against a bow, a ruggedly handsome half-orc in long robes, a Varisian woman holding a crystal ball, and a muscular but maternal dwarven woman. Several statues have been smashed to rubble, cluttering the floor.
Part of the chamber’s northern wall has been torn down, revealing a once-secret door of bronze and gently shimmering runes.

Suddenly a ghostly image of Delbera appears in the large hall, frozen in fear. Another ghostly form— this one a half-orc man— falls to the floor beside her, gasping in short, ragged breaths. The stentorian voice booms through the grand hall. “Pitiful girl. Do you really think what you and your companions have done here today has achieved anything but merely slow my rise to power? I shall take great satisfaction in adding your corpses to my army.” As the voice echoes, the shattered bits of rock assemble Dark gray sphere on map themselves into a 12-foot-tall statue.

Kaleena hits the statue, but the bullet leaves only a minor scratch. Dorn's adamantium axe narrowly misses. The statue attacks Dorn and also misses. Without actual knowledge Therin doesn't have any insight.

Damiel knows its an unique animated object. Interestingly, as a part of haunt it is vulnerable to positive energy as if it were undead. You also believe casting healing spell on the ghost of half-orc would simultaneously weaken the statue. Fire bomb burns and leaves it blackened.
