I've solved the riddle: trees!
They're more growing than lurking. But thanks for being the first to post; now I know who's volunteered to be the sacrifice for part one. :P
FYI I will be out of phone or Internet service from March 3-7. Posting May be spotty as well for a couple days before and after that. Getting outta the cold and trying a cruise.

You have recovered a psychically charged harrow deck, commonly used for telling fortunes. You can expend its remaining energy to draw a card at random as a standard action, and you gain a +2 enhancement bonus to the ability score that matches the suit of the card drawn until the end of the adventure. If you do not have a harrow deck available, instead roll 1d6 to determine the suit (1 is Strength, 2 is Dexterity, 3 is Constitution, 4 is Intelligence, 5 is Wisdom, and 6 is Charisma). When you use this boon, cross it off your Chronicle sheet.

The gallows boons seem to get stronger with multiple chronicles, so I'll save those.
Next up, using this one:
Dr. Quolorum’s principle interest in these missions was uncovering the secret behind the strange phenomena near Lantern Lake, and any treasure recovered was merely a pleasant surprise. Although a share of the treasure was not in the original contract, he subsidizes the cost as a favor to you. Okay we're about one week away from the start of Outpost VIII so please make sure you have done the following:
1) Level your PCs. For those who have reached 2nd level this is the last chance to make any changes to your PC (classes, skills, etc.).
2) Note any purchases either in a post here or you can send me a PM. Make sure to include those purchases on your PC's character sheet - especially any consumables.
3) Update the Information sheets on the Google Slides so I have the current rolls/checks listed.

We do have a ‘swim with the turtles’ event planned for us and kids, that should be awesome.

I thought I laid these out previously but maybe I forgot to do so. This is not a critique or shot at any other GM; this is how I operate under the PF and PFS rules.
On using Guidance to boost skill checks: As long as it's something that could take some time to do (like a Survival check) you can always do so. You would not be able to use Guidance with a Knowledge check made 'on the spot' such as combat situations, etc.
Taking 10: I go by the Core Rulebook so I leave it up to each player whether they want to take 10 or risk a roll.
I guess one other limitation on guidance is that it only lasts a minute, so for my survival check I wasn't sure if that would take longer than a minute (although I guess you could argue that guidance could just get repeatedly recast over the duration of activities taking longer than a minute).
For using Survival to forage it would be iffy but for tracking I think it's 'quick' enough to use it.
Oooh, that will be a perfect time for you to lead the charge uphill into enemy fire!
If you think about it Guardian XI is the natural choice to take on the rust monster...
He will name his new pet "Rusty"

Well, if the party's casting spells and having conversations, I don't feel so bad about getting a 4 on my Stealth check :)

Particularly for Jakeric but everyone else should roll for boons in the Recruitment thread (since it's the least busy). Outpost VIII's official 'completion date' is May 12 but I'll submit the table by the end of next week to get in a couple days early.

Just to be on the safe side, when the game gets reported could you include a note to say that I'm not using a replay. I think for part 1 whoever reported the game on the Paizo site didn't realise that the module was repayable at level 1 and marked it as a replay for me which used up one of my replays. Apparently getting a misreported replay back requires Alex Speidel to go into the system and manually fix it, so I ended up having to email Alex and ask very nicely if I could have my replay back!
