Luciola Iridessa |
Luciola can feel her Fly spell about to expire so she uses the last of it to land on Deroff's back.
Agreed she says as she pets Deroff. Let's get this done as soon as we can
Argoni Slate |
"I wouldn't mind Sticking to the Shadows, but maybe not everyone can?"
We could use Follow the Expert and Argoni has Quiet Allies.
"But if we're going to just Go with the Flow, I suggest we at least try some disguises."
I have two Infiltrator Elixirs, and we could use a disguise kit on some of the others. Some of you have better Deception than Argoni. Don't have a lot of time, but Impersonate does say you can do a simpler, quicker disguise. Argoni could create more Infiltrator Elixirs by using up his Versatile Vials.
Luciola Iridessa |
I could use Humanoid Form to look like a halfling, but that only lasts ten minutes a cast. But I suppose I could keep burning up spell slots to stretch it out.
GM Tiger |
It appears I goofed. I re-read the text of the scenario and you need to do all 4 of the above -- so which one do you want to do first should be the question!
Song Jun-Mei |
"My >Vital Beacon< is at full power. We can use that to quickly heal. That one feller ran away and will round up the wagons if we take too long here."
"If you ask me... we Go With The Flow and get this done right quick."
"I have prepared that spell as well." Jun-Mei casts a spell then pulls a wand from a belt pouch and activates it.
nature, trick magic item DC20: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (18) + 13 = 31
Tailwind lvl2 activated
If we're doing all of the events then we might as well go in order. GO WITH THE FLOW, STICK TO THE SHADOWS, OVER THE ROOFTOPS, CUTTING THROUGH
Miladistra |
"Hmm. I'm fine with that order." Miladistra shrugs. "I'm pretty good at being quiet."
Argoni Slate |
Argoni shrugs. "We gotta take them on the roofs?"
I guess we should see what this entails before we use any consumables.
GM Tiger |
Advising the students to stick close, you start moving through the streets, trying to blend in with the crowd.
Skills:
DC 25 Deception, Performance, or Society to act natural while navigating the crowd.
Successes Needed: 3+
Additional Requirement:
DC 33 Diplomacy to keep the students calm. This does not count towards the total above.
Successes Needed: 1+, NO CRIT FAILS
GM Tiger |
[dice=performance]d20+18
[dice=diplomacy]d20+15
((Hero point))
[dice=performance]d20+18
You want to HP the Diplomacy Crit Fail??
Luciola Iridessa |
It was soon apparent that the students were getting nervous about a glowing sprite attracting attention.
Can't you turn it off?
No. Sorry. I can't
Maybe we should put you in a bag or something?
Don't you dare ..... unless you make it interesting for me
I'm not sure I want to know what that means.
Awww .. you're no fun
Argoni Slate |
Society: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (1) + 15 = 16
Hero Point: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (20) + 15 = 35
"Just keep walking and don't lock eyes with anyone."
Luciola Iridessa |
If Luciola has a Hero Point left, yes she'll use it on the Diplomacy.
Unfortunately she doesn't
And I just did a count-back and she couldn't have HPed the other check either
GM Tiger |
Ok. Everyone gets one hero point for surviving that crazy combat (unless you're maxed out). The high tier DCs are nuts... :)
Miladistra |
Deception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21
It isn't easy, with a big wolf and a strong scent of herbs coming from her hair.
Miladistra con only get the Diplomacy check with a natural 20, so she will aid instead.
Song Jun-Mei |
performance DC25: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (7) + 16 = 23
HP reroll
performance DC25: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (15) + 16 = 31
After a slow start Jun-Mei is able to act normally without too much trouble.
diplomacy: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (20) + 14 = 34
Jun-Mei approaches the students and smiles. "Calm down. Everything is under control. Don't look at the sprite. Just follow me."
Johnny Sniper 2 |
You all go ahead Johnny needs a nat 20 just to succeed. Since 0+20 is a failure, but the Nat 20 boosts a degree of success by 1, so nat 20 turns it into a success even though it is dc 25.
GM Tiger |
Jun-Mei manages to keep the students calm while both Argoni and Luciola encourage them to act natural and blend in with the crowd.
+2 Awareness Points from the Diplomacy Crit Fail, but you lose 1 AP for overcoming the obstacle. So far, not bad.
Suddenly, a street fight breaks out, unrelated to you but near enough that the surge of the people rushing to gawk or join in splits the party and drags some of the students into the crush of the crowd.
Overcome:
DC 33 Fortitude Save to brace against the surge of the crowd and provide cover for the students
DC 31 Athletics/Acrobatics to push or dart through the mob
DC 23 Intimidation to break up the fight and automatically end this complication but accrues 1 AP
Successes Needed: 3+ (unless you use Intimidation)
Argoni Slate |
Are those DCs right? Argoni only has a 15% chance of even passing. Much more likely to crit fail. Maybe someone should just use Intimidation to get past it?
Argoni tries to dart through the many legs of those taller than him.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (12) + 13 = 25
Miladistra |
Miladistra calls upon her magic to Calm the rowdy fighters.
I have no way to break up the fight with skills or saves. Time for Magic!
Song Jun-Mei |
Jun-Mei attempts to distract the crowd with a song. She pulls out her guyaguem and begins to play an old Hwan folk song. She sings along with the harp adding her clear soprano and enhancing the performance.
Jun-Mei is a Master performer and has fascinating performance. She can fascinate up to 10 targets. She uses the momentary distraction to extricate the students and reunite the group.
performance: 1d20 + 16 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 16 + 1 = 24
Akame Chiba |
Seeing how this is going, Akame just relies on her dragon blood to get her point across and break things up. If there was any attention to be had, let it be on her.
Intimidation: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (14) + 13 = 27
GM Tiger |
Unfortunately, yes, the DC's are correct. High Tier is the low tier DC +3.
I'll take Akame's roll here. Your APs are low enough that it's not much of an issue and you can make it up with the subsequent obstacles.
Akame steps into the crowd and bellows at everyone to disperse. The crowd is surprised and a bit frightened but they immediately disperse. However, word gets out that someone is using fear to stir up the populace.
+1 AP
Trying to avoid attracting further attention, you go into stealth mode and opt for a slower, stealthier route away from the crowds, keeping to the shadows and alleyways.
Overcome:
DC 23 Survival/DC 20 Underworld Lore (or other relevant Lore) to navigate the labyrinthine back alleys.
DC 25 Stealth
DC 27 Occultism/Nature to magically coax the shadows into covering your tracks
Successes Needed: 3+
Beating the Obstacle (3+ Successes): -1 AP
Failing the Obstacle (1-2 Successes): +1 AP (Bad)
Critically Failing (0 Successes): +2 AP (REALLY BAD)
Miladistra |
"Alright. Which way now..."
Survival: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23
Miladistra uses instinct to guide herself through the alleyways.
Argoni Slate |
Underworld Lore: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (14) + 15 = 29
"If the smuggling routes in this place is anything like what I know, I think we should head this way." Argoni tries to pick up clues on which ways the criminal element uses to hide their tracks.
Song Jun-Mei |
survival: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20
Jun-Mei attempts to cover the group's tracks with little success.
GM Tiger |
Luciola and Argoni use their knowledge of their misspent youth to find a way through the back-alleys. Miladistra manages to find the less traveled trails. Jun-Mei attempts to do the same but doesn't quite succeed.
Success! -1 AP
As you make your way through the alleyway, a window suddenly slams open nearby. Missi, startled, screams...
Overcome:
DC 24 Arcana/Occultism to create a minor illusion of either a distraction or the group 'disappearing'
DC 28 Deception/Thievery to draw the civilian's attention away with a distraction
DC 30 Stealth to cloak the group in secrecy as they draw back
DC 31 Reflex Save to cover the reactive student's mouth (only 1 success allowed)
Successes Required: 3+
Miladistra |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Deception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14 I don't have any hero points...
"Ah, hey! Look over there!" Just as the crowd begins to turn, Deroff begins howling. He's trying to help, but everyone's staring at him (and the party) instead!
Argoni Slate |
Arcana: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (13) + 14 = 27
Argoni creates a shadow puppet on the wall that looks like an arcane spell of summoned creature long enough for them to dart away.
Akame Chiba |
half-kitsune, half-mirage dragon, magical tricks and disappearing acts should come naturally to her, right?
Arcana: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20
Miladistra, did you want to use my campaign coin hero point?
Miladistra |
Thank you Akame. I will use your Campaign Coin as a Hero Point.
Deception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14 Cool.
Deroff howls even louder.
GM Tiger |
The GM Facepalms. I'll move you along in a couple of hours. Gotta catchup
GM Tiger |
Miladistra tries to divert attention away from the party but Deroff begins howling and attracts more attention. The party manages to get away, but some Legionnaires are alerted to a possible escape attempt from RainBlessed.
+2 AP for failing the Obstacle
OVER THE ROOFTOPS
In general, Manaket isn't dense enough to traverse the rooftops all the way to the docks, but there are some areas where they are close enough together that it becomes a viable choice.
Overcome:
DC 23 Acrobatics/Stealth to move nimbly between the rooftops
DC 24 Survival to chart the safest route,
DC 27 Crafting to pick out broken shingles and other potential pitfalls to be avoided
Successes Required: 3+
Additional Requirement:
DC 32 Athletics to help hoist the less-athletic students up to the roofs.
Successes Required: 1+
Failure (or 1 CF): +2 AP
Beating the Obstacle (3+ Successes): -1 AP
Failing the Obstacle (1-2 Successes): +1 AP (Bad)
Critically Failing (0 Successes): +2 AP (REALLY BAD)
Miladistra |
"Okay, okay! Sorry about Uni. It's just... yer so small." Miladistra frowns and gets Deroff's attention to silence him. "Sometimes you get so jealous. If you were big enough to ride on I'd do it."
Deroff whines.
"Let's get movin."
Survival: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30
Miladistra points carefully through the marketplace. "No one will notice if we move over here."
When it's time to help the students, she offers to assist someone with some Athletics of her own. "I can't help 'em by myself, but I can help you." Athletics +9 so I can't Succeed. But maybe I can Aid?
Argoni Slate |
Stealth DC23: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (18) + 15 = 33
Argoni skitters across the roofs keeping his feet light.
Song Jun-Mei |
Jun-Mei's athletics isn't enough to make the check to help the students up but she is strong enough to carry one person (6 bulk) without too much trouble. If I use my scroll of fly would I be able to carry the unathletic students up to the rooftops?"
acrobatics: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
HP reroll
acrobatics: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Jun-Mei is slightly less than graceful while traversing the rooftops.
GM Tiger |
Jun-Mei, keep the HP. Appears the only check you need to make is the Athletics check, which I think is pretty much impossible... you could just take the AP hit. 1 AP vs 2 (since you succeeded with the obstacle)
GM Tiger |
Miladistra and Argoni easily find a path to the rooftops.
Success, -1 AP
But getting the students up onto the roof is a bit problematic. But after a lot of grunting and clattering, you manage to get them up. Unfortunately, you weren't totally unseen either...
Failure, +2 AP; Net +1 AP for this Obstacle
Cutting through the largest trading house in Manaket is the fastest way out of the heart of the city. It's a risky move, however, as it's quite crowded even at this hour, but if the party can get in and out quickly enough, no one will even know they were there.
Overcome:
DC 24 Perception to spot the most direct path through to the other side
DC 25 Mercantile Lore (or any other relevant Lore) / DC 28 Society to navigate the open sales floor without drawing undue attention
DC 26 Deception/Performance to act like you belongs there;
Successes Required: 3+
Beating the Obstacle (3+ Successes): -1 AP
Failing the Obstacle (1-2 Successes): +1 AP (Bad)
Critically Failing (0 Successes): +2 AP (REALLY BAD)
