Chryssi hangs onto her consciousness by sheer grit, while OK blasts another airburst, and the elf goes down. Or at least it looks like she does.

Time stops.

There’s no motion, no breath, no sound—only the stillness of a frozen moment. For a moment Evethriel just hangs there, mid-drop.

The world gives a great lurch, and suddenly everything’s in motion—Evethriel is a streak of color, retracing her steps in reverse, rewound through time to undo a mistake and ensure the Order of Dawning Fate’s desired future comes to fruition. Suddenly, this backward momentum stutters erratically, glitching in and out of sync with reality as time comes undone.

All of this, every little thing, you've seen before.

So, the faithful dogs of the First Seeker have arrived. I was a Starfinder once too, you know, before I realized how petty and short-sighted your organization is. You’ve chosen your master poorly. I admit, my heart rejoices that this confrontation has come to pass. I’ve long yearned to carve my vengeance from the flesh of Starfinders. For the death of my sibling, and for the sake of the Order, your lives end here. You cannot sever the strands of fate.”

The battle replays, but every action is slightly different, altogether more favourable to the Starfinder. It's clear that some mystical interaction was supposed to favor Evethriel, but that the fading effect of the finitrium engines messes everything up. No panic this time, but a perfectly coordinated group ready to take down the sentinel and the elf, in a series of perfect attacks alternated with near hilarious misses from the elf.

Inevitably, the elf is defeated for the second time. “Impossible…” Evethriel gasps in shock. “What… have you done…? It all comes… undone…”

Combat is over

The starfinders find themselves at a pivot point of time, moving over multiple different threads of time, reflecting differet possibilities simultaneously.

You were stuck in a time loop for a moment. There was a rewind of time, to give Evethriel a second chance, but something definitely backfired here.

Everyone regains all their Hit Points and Stamina Points, regains all expended spell slots, and regains all uses of limited use abilities. You do not regain any used items or spent ammunition.

On the back of the room, a door has appeared, only soft and semi-tangible, which according to the layout is the door to the core.

As the group steps through the door, everyone is joined by spectral images of themselves passing through the portal, each moving slightly differently, some injured, other as healthy as themselves.

A hulking supercomputer towers over the center of this chamber. In the room’s far corners, red light sputters and swirls within a pair of hovering orbs. Faint images of three consoles surround the machine, like holograms. The frontmost console is superimposed with a swirling portal. Atop the machine, another faint image shows a witchwyrd in golden robes seated upon a regal chair and connected to a neural interfacing device.

Each of the computer consoles displays an error message. The two on the sides of the machine read “POWER SUPPLY FAILURE: ENGINES 1, 2, AND 3”, and the frontmost console says “INITIATE EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN PROTOCOL? Y/N”

The room is filled with auditory and visual afterimages of the Starfinder's movements, as if this is a node that exists in many places and time all at once.

Before the group can reach the console, time twists and turns again, and a disembodied voice speaks

“Ah, yes, not the Starfinder’s finest hour. Far from your only mistake, though.”

The area changes, and the starfinder find themselves in the aftermath of a bloody battle in the scoured stars incident. Dozens of Starfinders lie on the ground in critical condition. Harried medics rush about, doing what they can to save lives with limited resources.

Each one of you should attempt a check to assist the fallen Starfinders, such as a Life Science or Physical Science check to create medicinals, a Medicine check to treat wounds, or an Acrobatics or Athletics check to carefully relocate the injured. You can attempt these checks individually, and can’t aid another. Any check you can defend will work, as would expending resources/creative solutions.

Maxamas deftly maneuvers to reach wounded Starfinders, while OK manages to improvise some medicine from battlefield supplies. Kneepuncher and Omni struggle to move about on the battlefield, and Chryssi can't seem to find the right supplies to add something meaningful.

Just as the situation gets under control, time shifts yet again, jostling the group to another location, and this time they stand on the surface of an unfamiliar planet, wearing battle uniforms. Thousands of others in similar attire surround them, aiming air defense systems at the golden sky. Suddenly, living starships appear out of thin air and descend, each surrounded by hordes of insectile creatures

“A world lost, or a world that could yet be saved? Only I know.”

DC 10 Culture:

This is an invasion from the Swarm, a voracious hivemind species that has destroyed countless worlds.

It's up to everyone to attempt a check to assist in the defense against the Swarm, such as an attack roll, a Bluff, Diplomacy, or Intimidate check to rally their fellow soldiers, or a Perception check to spot an approaching ambush.

Chryssi starts yelling, which does seem to really help against the unrest in the ranks. Omni's soothing words have a lot more inspiring effect, and OK Coral just opens fire, which is always a good way to inspire morale.

Time shifts yet again, to a point aboard the Thunderbolt, the Drake class starship, moving to a mission. Suddenly, the comms fails, as do most of the ship’s systems. Only seconds later, the empty space around the starship fills with floating glaciers.

Navigate through the field by steering the ship with a Piloting check, fire the ship’s lasers to melt the glaciers with an attack roll, or repair damaged systems with a Computers or Engineering check. Any other creative use of skills is also allowed

Debris is coming from everywhere, and while Maxamas manages to get the computer console back on track, and OK Coral succesfully applies a patch to the engines, navigating the glaciers is tricky. Fortunately, time shifts before the ship explodes.

The psychic waves wreak havoc on the Starfinders, and only Maxamas and Chryssi manage to resist the mental onslaught.

Though Chryssi does feel the urge to fill out the RPG chronicles, which she still hasn't done

The psychic earthquake subsides, but the continuous jostling through time continues.

At last, the temporal maelstrom ends, in a room that resembles the one where it began. A supercomputer topped by a regal chair, red orbs, and control consoles appear just the same as before, yet the room itself is less coherent. Deep rifts split the chamber into pieces. These seams, running along the walls, floors, and ceiling, are filled in by a translucent blue material. The piece with the supercomputer is far higher than the rest, atop a platform with the seams expanding into sheer walls to accommodate its towering presence. A vast jungle stretches out far below, lit by an unseen sun and visible through these unusual windows. Along the walls, hovering screens of force display scenes from countless places and times. One figure looms large in each scene: Zhaneni.

From atop the throne, Zhaneni gazes down, her expression a perfect mask of imperious disdain. “Starfinders… Always meddling. You have no idea how many unfortunate threads of fate I have severed, how many crises have never come to pass thanks to my efforts. I will admit, your brutish interference has been enough to inconvenience me, and delay my vital work. For all those who suffer for your transgressions, their blood is your hands. I suppose I have no choice but to dirty my hands as well. Be grateful that you have earned so much of my attention.”

Maxamas and OK Coral have been quite succesful at getting through the jerks and shakes of time, and find themselves quick on their feet, but everyone seems to suffer from some time slowness.

In the first round of the upcoming combat, Maxamas and OK Coral are hasted, while the rest of you count as slowed. Round 2 is normal

The blue area that directly surrounds the dark area with Zahenni/the throne on it is a 60 foot cliff. The blue areas are partly translucent - through them a jungle can be seen that partly looks like the jungle outside, partly like something else.

Yup, half speeds, so Kneepuncher's calculations would be a bit off. Fortunately it's only one round.

Despite being covered completely in armor plating, Kneepucher feels the teeth of the undead monster sink in, and his head is filled with visions of ways that the target could have had a better future, if only they had avoided their mistakes and made different decisions.

What exactly those mistakes were, I leave up to you. I need a DC 14 will save to avoid becoming shaken

Zahenni latches onto the most painful memories of each starfinder, burning their brains with memories of guilt and regret.
