Patrick feels the nerves squeezing his stomach as he turns the paper around, and begins to check what odd magic could have done it!

Seconds drag like minutes as Patrick nervously tries to understand what have happened. Are you stuck there just like the original team and gnomes? Have the portal closed?

Then he realizes that two sheets just joint together, and the text is perfectly safe.

Along with Patrick, Jeeves also writes down the song lyrics, as he strums a tune on his lyre to commit it to memory. The bard is relieved to find the song remains perfectly safe after all the excitement.

When Irlah suggests a night's rest, Jeeves says, "Since Irlah is recommending it, and since this is a relatively safe location, I agree with Patrick that we should rest while we can." After a short pause, he adds, "We should be a full-strength for what lies ahead." Retrieving his silver platter, Jeeves serves drinks from his jug to everyone, as they unpack for the night.

Fortiva holds up a hand when Jeeves offers another drink, and chuckles a bit when Patrick reacts to it.

She lingers for a moment before giving the two of them an off-hand salute (as if to say, "be seeing you") and heading off to find a quiet spot to relax.

Zabu's extra die doesn't help him, but he wasn't expecting it to, so he's not any more frustrated than before.

He shrugs. "I don't need to rest. I can go for hours, but I'm not in any hurry, either."

He gladly takes a drink from the jug but then wanders off, himself to shamelessly flirt with some of his distant cousins in hopes of finding some overnight entertainment.


You take the rest, the best way that each one of you can, or are able to arrange on such short notice.

The next day you march towards the portal, it takes you 2 hours to get there, Irlah chats a lot same as Piltineff while, Eltha, Kreighton and Effeflinn rather are silent.

You come to the cavern where the portal was...

The open cavern in front of the portal is filled with dozens of bizarre creatures tearing each other apart, seemingly to reach the portal themselves. Horrific and alien noises ring out and echo back. The floor is slick with blood, and the air burns with acrid fumes.

The magic of the portal has attracted many bizarre Darklands monsters. Much like the deep gnome villagers, these creatures have been cut off from the rest of the Darklands, and they want to see what else is out there. However, the magic and excitement, along with the aggression of many of the Darklands residents, has led to an enormous battle. The monsters are mostly holding each other at bay, but as you watch, a couple of gogiteths break free from the chaos and soon, their long legs disappear through the portal! The portal starts to flicker dangerously. The team has only moments to get through!

"Quickly we need to break through towards the portal!"

This is a skill check ;) DC26 roll and describe any skill that could get you to the other side, it even can be melee/range strike if you like. DC26. The distance is 120 ft if you want to use some jumping/flying/teleport etc.

Eltha, Kreighton, Effeflinn, Irlah and Piltineff run as a team, blasting and tearing their way through, maybe for that short moment forgetting about their scars.

With his jug in hand, Jeeves considers negotiating his way across. "Pardon me. Humble servant, coming through..."
But with all the chaos, that's probably a stretch...
Instead, the gnome tries to gracefully dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge across the battlefield.

Fortiva considers slipping through unseen, but decides to embrace Patrick's idea and places a hand on his shoulder as instructed.


Jeeves dances through the battlefield offering his drink left and right but for the most part avoiding the blows.

Yeah what Jeeves said, Dimension Door is only single person (caster) there are teleportations higher level that allow you to move with others.

"Wait! We're not staying to fight? It's like you guys don't know how to have fun!" Zabu declares as it becomes obvious his compatriots are more interested in getting through the grand melee than joining it.

With a growl of frustration, he lowers his shoulder and takes a running start at the fracas, bowling people, creatures and things out of the way at least as often as bouncing off of them.

Fortiva throws the hood of her cloak up and disappears. She walks invisibly through the scrum.

Use one of her two Invisibility castings from the Cloak.

Patrick teleports towards the portal, while Zabu, pushes his way through the enemies. The portal flickers almost disseapearing, but it holds just in time for Fortiva to sneak in as well. Since Fortive used invisibility I mark it as success, the pure stealth would be a failure. I will use your checks as init in what is to come

When you make it through the portal, another creature comes partway through after them. Kreighton and Effeflinn work on pushing the creature back while the PCs deal with the gogiteths who already made it into the Grand Lodge. Gorm Greathammer is leading a team of guards against the gogiteths, but they look outmatched.

Beside gogiteth you spot two earth elementals, one bigger than the other.

As the thing's leg slashes at her, the talisman on Fortiva's shield flares to life and deflects part of the blow. Grunting at the impact nonetheless, the rogue resets her stance and moves into melee, viciously slashing upward across its belly twice.


Jeeves motivates his allies then he casts a spell which hits creature in the weak spot. Crit red -88

Fortiva moves closer and the creature begins to retreat Red uses reaction and moves 10 ft as Fortiva moves closer - but AFAIK he has enough move to follow after, but no gang up

I was hoping the speed reduction would keep it away from everyone, but the thing is clearly very mobile, heh.

Looking around after dropping gracefully to the stone floor, Fortiva gives Jeeves an appreciative nod and a cunning wink before setting her sights on the behemoth in front of her.
A quick application of a poultice and she's ready to lay into it.

Currently, Courageous Anthem only active for Fortiva since she's still acting in Rd 4.
Zabu and Patrick (even though it's not currently active during your Rd 5), it's a tiny bit disheartening that you keep ignoring the bardic inspiration.
Maybe you had a bad experience with a bard. That's fair. :)
