"We're not here to just walk around. No matter how lovely the scenery. We should go in."

"Sleeping in town?" Teela smirks softly. "Where's the fun in that? Open skies above, birds chirping to wake you up in the morning..." she looks at Kamau as he is pointing to Serenllys' attire. "Yeah those could use a touch up."

She pulls out her doll and whispers something into it's head as Serenlys' pants start glowing. And they keep shininy like a torch.

Casting Light on the pants.

She chuckles. "There. A little shine up!"

Seren looks at the crack in the wall.

”Well it is an entrance. One that we should keep as an option. So far we’ve found the front door is safe - no denizens. I’d rather approach from there, unless we can ascertain that this too is…safe”

When Teela casts a spell that makes her pants glow, Seren’s jaw sets like stone.

”Very helpful Teela. Now I’m not only still wet, but have no way to hide. Maybe I should stand in the crack in the wall to light your way…”

Kamau chuckles, although that wasn't the cantrip he'd been intending to signify.

Something looks like it happened to the map. Is there a collapsed wall in the area where we fought the frog thing? I thought that Seren and I had crossed that pond onto the other side already.

I thought the building that Teela looked into was the one on the left, but it now looks like maybe there are two different gatehouses, and we should inspect them both. Does Kazzi's Ruin Lore provide us with any information of what these different buildings might have been intended for?

Kamau reaches up and pulls the bat resting near his neck, holding the hand out. It looks up at him, begrudgingly it seems, and then takes off flying.

The bat will fly through whichever building we haven't searched yet, because they seem to easily have gaps to get in and out, to see if it stirs up anything alive (or undead).

"Oh my..." Teela responds. Her smiling eyes give away obviously feigned startlement.

"Alright, alright. I'll fix you. But I will need something you can conceal very well. To end the previous effect."

She whispers something to her doll again, and Serenllys' pants are suddenly dry and clean. Just like that. Teela extends her hand expectantly, palm up.

Kamau hands Teela a small rock.

Grasping the stone, Teela whispers something again, and the rock starts shining as Serenllys' pants return to their unilluminated state.

"I bestow upon you," she offers the rock to whoever takes it "the gift of our very own lucky star."

Teela smiles. "At least until the morning."

Kamau doesn't need the rock, since he has darkvision, so takes no interest in the rock. He turns his attention to see if there is any reaction from or to the bat moving around the outbuildings.

Seren's stony demeanour softens as she dries out.

"Thanking you Teela."

Shifting her attention to Kamau, Seren points in the direction the bat flew.

"Does flying mouse have a name?"

Kazzi happily accepts the rock star. "This does not mean I want to sleep here. I just want a night light for my sleep in a comfortable bed."

"Well..." Teela twiddles her thumbs in an attempt to act sheepishly "The whole purpose of this expedition is to find and shed light on something that occurs during the nighttime. I feel like leaving the area for the night, when the phenomenon occurs, and then returning in the morning is counterproductive."

She looks around, letting the thought hang in the air.

"Is that just me?"

Kamau glances up at the sun, to make sure that it's still well before noon and he hasn't lost track of time, since everyone is talking about setting up camp and taking naps.

Seren shifts a little.

”You’ve put it better than I could Teela. Or rather, better than I already did. We’re here. Let’s stay and check it out. I only wanted to get dry, so I’m still up for exploration.”

The elf then taps Kamau.

”Kamau! Bat. Name?” she asks again, a little impatiently, twirling her hand through the air in a poor approximation of a bat in fight…

"Bruce..." Teela mumbles. "It looks like a Bruce."

"Uhh.. Wait. Wait. I'll have a comeback for that. I just...." Kazzi looks befuddled for a moment. "Like I've been saying, we need to find a good campground."

Kamau considers this, then shrugs, and his amulet says in its squeaky voice, "He hasn't told me yet."

Teela clears her throat and pats Kamau on the shoulder to get his attention. "You, uh..."

Not sure what to respond to Kamau, she thinks about it for but a moment. "You think it will tell you? Do you read bat lips as well?"

She offers a sly grin as she says that. Not a malicious one, mind you. Just a joker subconsciously pushing their target to laugh as well.

Kamau smiles, though emits no sound. He shakes his head.

If nothing gets stirred up by the bat, then Kamau will move to check out that other outbuilding before crossing over the moat. Hopefully it's more intact than the other building, and will perhaps prove a more useful basecamp.
