"How very bold." is all he says in regards to the display of the supernatural.
Then he stands up and stretches. "I think I'm going to do a little mingling myself. Thanks to our mutual benefactor, I've taken a powerful interest in one Baron Nicolaus Okerra and I'd like to see what the people think about him. And more importantly, what what they know about him."
With that, he drifts over to another group for a few minutes, opening with a cheerful smile and a generous helping of flattery. "My dear, that dress is just the perfect shade of violet. Is that silk imported from Mwangi? Because I have hear the most interesting stories about where their tailors get..."

The woman beams at Xallis, "Flattery will get you everywhere. How did you know my dress was Mwangi? I would love to hear your story. You're interested in Baron Okerra? Yeah, I've heard of him."
(Xallis had succeed in his knowledge roll about Okerra earlier so there's not much more to learn at the moment, but I'll give a little more.)
"Nicolaus Okerra is the baron of a stretch of villages in the eastern portion of the county of Meratt, and he is a local hero of the people. Popular as much for his good looks as for his fair policies, he has slain several terrible beasts and helped organize community improvement projects like irrigation, roadwork, and wells, often rolling up his sleeves and chipping in with the manual labor."
Icabhod Tilneros
Icabhod returns to the table and begins to enjoy his chicken while filling in the others."The Grand Day of Exaltation is the one day every year when the emperor can elevate a commoner of unusual skill or service to the ranks of nobility. Because people travel from all over the empire to witness the exaltation, many balls and political events take place in the preceding week, and the senate usually votes on matters of national importance immediately beforehand. This year’s noble-to-be is a wide-eyed weaver from the village of Breezy Creek, named Kalbio, whose beautiful tapestries have adorned the royal palace and many other royal homes for a decade."
Icabhod dabs his lips. So, it might be advantageous to find this Kalbio and make friends. Having a friendly noble can be quite helpful.
Henrika Karthis
Henrika waves the Caydenite priest over to their table, and relates what she knows about the emperor's health.
She cocks her head in apparent amusement at Ichabod's comment about having a friendly noble. "You make it sound like having a pet," she remarks. "Can you make him do tricks?"
Tychus Marcaius
Tychus returns dejectedly, his failure quite apparent in the creases on face, despite his young age. He takes a large draw from his ale and set the tankard down with a thud. He eats quietly, taking in all the information those around him managed to obtain.
Trevor Kastner
Henrika waves the Caydenite priest over to their table, and relates what she knows about the emperor's health.
Seeing how Lady Martella was otherwise engaged, Trevor was pleased to see a familiar face. The cleric walks over to mermerist.
"Lady Henrika, am I correct? Very nice to see you. Happy exaltation Week!" The caydenite said with a bow. To the other at the table, the iridescent-eyed man gave a quick nod. "Hello. My name is Trevor Kastner, cleric of Cayden Cailean. Please to meet you."| Icabhod Tilneros |

Well if you want to put it so crudely. But making contacts and possible employment opportunities is commonplace in noble circles. At the very least we can see who this noble to be and size him up.
Liraela the Inkweaver
"Oh dear, what does our patron lady have in mind for the High Strategos, I wonder?" she asks in response to Liraela's question. "I can only imagine that she does not support his goals concerning the royal succession, at least."
"I'm not quite sure what our patron wants with him beyond the fact that I am to stay in his orbit for the majority of the gale. Any changes in his views or stated beliefs is to be recorded and examined at a later date." she says casually, not really sure of the worth of this one man's opinions but not willing to fail her first real mission in the political scene.
Seeing the cleric walk up to their conversation, the vishkanya nods a polite greeting to the man before introducing herself.
"Liraela. Pleased to meet you, am I correct in assuming you know Lady Henrika from a certain patron you met at Lion Noir?"
Trevor Kastner
Trevor smiles at the beguiling violet-skinned lady. "No, actually, Miss Liraela. I know Lady Henrika from one of the various tavern I do Cayden's work in around Oppara. Though I did make Lady Martella's acquaintance in The Lion Noir." The Kastner noble tries to keep his cards close to his chest. "Did you meet Lady Kastner at the tea house as well?"

The waitress, Wendy, brings over a stool for Trevor to sit at the table. "Here you go, darling. I'm sorry but I couldn't help but overhear you mention Kalbio. He's the young man being exalted this year, isn't he? Anyway, I heard he was a guest of the Grand Prince himself, so unless you have access to the Imperial Palace, good luck seeing him before Exaltation Day. You don't have access to the palace now, do you?" She takes Icabhod's hands in hers and looks at him with puppy dog eyes. "If you do, please take me with you. I would just die if I met the princess." She squeals.
Xallis Livara
Xallis returns to his seat, settling down next to Tychus with a warm expression on his face. "Oh, someone bought us free rounds. How delightful."
He takes a sip, trying not to overindulge. The alcohol wouldn't take that long to hit on an empty stomach, and he didn't have the spare change to cover a meal. He quietly curses his previous choices for equipment in the Pathfinder Society. Go for the crossbow, Xallis. It'll be worth every gold piece, Xallis. Slings are for the rabble, Xallis.
"Hear anything good?" he asks his new associate. "Everything I heard slip about my person of interest is recycled and redundant news, though I did meet a lady with the most lovely dress..."
He trails off before taking another sip. "But I digress. Gossip now, fashion later."
If possible, I'd like to make a Knowledge check to see if I know anything extra/useful about Princess Eutropia. Probably a long shot, but it's worth a try.

If possible, I'd like to make a Knowledge check to see if I know anything extra/useful about Princess Eutropia. Probably a long shot, but it's worth a try.
Knowledge (Nobility): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
You know that Princess Eutropia is Grand Prince Stavian III's only living child, but due to the ancient Taldan law of primogeniture, which states only a male can inherit the throne, there is no current heir. If Princess Eutropia can get the primogeniture law repealed, she could potentially be the first Empress of Taldor.
There is more that you can learn with Gather Information, but you'd have to do that tomorrow.
Terribly sorry, but it appears that I will have to wait until the Exaltation myself, unless someone is kind enough to extend an invitation.
"Ugh. Unlikely." bemoans the waitress. "Well, a girl can dream." She saunters off.
Also, I'm going to move on to the next day soon, so if there is anything you want to say or do tonight, try to do in the next post or two.

"Aye, and enough chicken to spare."
Tychus takes a spare plate from the table and splits off some of his chicken and places it in front of Xallis. He had spent enough time in the the Narrows that spotting a hungry soul was second nature to him.
"Hear anything good?" he asks his new associate. "Everything I heard slip about my person of interest is recycled and redundant news, though I did meet a lady with the most lovely dress..."
He trails off before taking another sip. "But I digress. Gossip now, fashion later."
"Nothing of use. The people here don't seem very receptive to me. Can't blame them, really." He takes another deep gulp of ale and let's out a soft, satisfied sigh. "We'll have to keep our ears sharp. I have a bad feeling about this week."

(Okay. I’m going to move on to the next day. I know this part is open ended so I don’t want to get stuck up here. I also think that I’m going to make this next day the last full day of roleplaying before the Exaltation Gala and reserve Day 4 for just some last minute gather information rolls and preparation.)
You continue your conversation at the Lion’s Head for a while longer. Ultimately, you decide that more research and planning is needed and that a good meetup location would be back at Thread Rare in the morning. You return to your respective domiciles are sleep for the night.
Day 3
Calistril 21, 4718 (Wealday) (Oppara, Taldor)
You wake up, perform your morning routine, and set off to the tailor to pick up your new outfit. The city streets are much as they were the other day; packed with people and with vendors hawking food and souvenirs. You do notice a new addition along your morning walk, dozens of posters plastered onto walls and lampposts advertising a special event at the Oppara Arena today honoring the first emperor of Taldor, Taldaris.
The tailor Habillus and his assistant Julia have your tailored clothes ready and you each arrive at approximately the same time (unless you choose not to).
Henrika Karthis
Henrika spends the afternoon getting to know the others in Lady Martella's employ a little better, though she is slightly uncomfortable doing so in a tavern that is so close to what she thinks of as her alter-ego, her criminal contacts. Perhaps it is appropriate, she thinks wryly, but unless these new contacts are completely on board with the methods that Master Falchion's friends employ, it would be wise to keep them separated. She stews on these thoughts when she finally returns home. She must visit her mother this evening, she knows, though she is dreading it. Still, she makes a heroic effort, sitting with her and comforting her until she finally falls asleep after the ninth bell.
Day 3
The next day she rises early and returns to the tailor to pick up her outfit. She is surprised but pleased to see the others there, and she gives each of them a polite nod.
Liraela the Inkweaver
The night before:
When the drink and food comes Liraela repeats her previous eating habits, lifting the chicken above her tilted back head and swallowing the pieces whole. She follows it with the shot of tequila, throwing it back before laughing rambunctiously.
”Apologies, my new friends, I was quite hungry.”
As the night winds on, she spends time getting to know the group as much as she can before they must retire.
”Well, tonight has been a wonderful experience, but I believe it’s about time to head to bed before I embarrass myself further! Shall we meet tomorrow morning at the tailor? Good to discuss these things once more when I’m slightly more sober. she says jokingly.
Today
Liraela awakens early the next morning and bathes quickly before making her way to the tailor to claim her outfit.
”Good morning Habillus! How are you on this wonderful morning?”
The Vishkanya nods back to Henrika, a polite greeting.
”Good morning to you as well, Lady Henrika. I trust you slept well?”
Henrika Karthis
"Tolerably well," Henrika lies as she waits for her costume to be fetched. She dodges the question almost out of force of habit, not wanting to get too far into her personal life with someone she just met. "And you? I suppose today we must see if we can find out anything else useful about your target. Perhaps we can look through some of the imperial records for the nobility?"
Tychus Marcaius
Tychus rises in the morning, rubbing his neck as he tries to shake the sleep from his eyes. He would have stayed in longer, but he had to meet with his new allies. He had gotten permission from the church to put his normal duties on hold while he took care of his mission. He takes his normal route through the market, heading to Thread Rare for the appointed time.
Upon seeing the group gathered together, he gathers his clothes from the tailor with a nod, and joins them.
"And so we meet, once again." he says, looking as exhausted as when they had parted the night before.
Icabhod Tilneros
Day 2
Icabhod finishes his meal and lingers over his wine before nodding to the others. I shall take my leave for now, but I expect that I will see you at Rare Threads tomorrow. Until then, good night
Day 3
Icabhod, much like the others wakes early and has breakfast before heading out to Rare Threads. Upon entering he sees that two have arrived before him.Good day to both of you. He slightly bows.
Liraela the Inkweaver
If Liraela notices Henrika’s hesitancy to answer the question, she doesn’t speak to it.
”I slept delightfully well. The beds they have here in the capital are so much better than the beddings I’m used to.” she smiles widely, showing off her sharply pointed teeth.
”Well, now, hold on. I wouldn’t go around calling him my ‘target’. I’m not going to try to kill him, just listen in on his conversations. But yes, perhaps some information would be nice before we go into this. How about your ‘target’, do you have any idea what to look for?” she says, laughing lightly.
”Tychus, my friend.” she aims her words at the newly arrived man. ”Did you not sleep well? Does something ail you?” she ask, before returning the bow to Icabhod.
Henrika Karthis
Henrika shrugs. "Our patron has involved me in a plan to embarrass some of her enemies, but I do not need to know anything specific about them to carry out my part of it. I might look them up if I have the chance, though." She is slightly circumspect about mentioning Lady Martella's half-brothers in public, since she wouldn't want them to learn their sister was plotting against them.
Tychus Marcaius
”Tychus, my friend.” she aims her words at the newly arrived man. ”Did you not sleep well? Does something ail you?” she ask, before returning the bow to Icabhod.
"There's a tumor that needs excising, but it lies not within me. I've spent many nights up until recently trying to right some wrongs. But now that a quest has been set in front of us, I've had to set that aside for now. My body hasn't quite adjusted to my new sleep schedule"
He also returns Icabhod's bow.
"I've failed so far in gaining information about my quarry. Luckily, my task is much more mundane." He looks around for any eavesdropper's before continuing. "I will be running some message for Lady Lotheed during the gala."
Xallis Livara
"This early in the morning and you're all together again, hatching plans already." Xallis says as he enters the establishment, turning his head to give a nod to its owner. "Now that's initiative I like to see."
In particular, he gives Tychus a nod. "Good to see you again. It was nice getting to have that chicken together."
He also gives a glance and a smile towards the vishkanya. "And Liraela, you're looking inspiring as always. I certainly hope they were able to get you something that goes well with purple."
GM Peachbottom
The tailors hand out your outfits and have you try them on to make sure the adjustments are satisfactory. Then Julia brings over a large velvet-lined case filled with jewelry for you each to try on and accentuate your look.
"Now remember, the clothes are yours but the jewelry is on loan. I can't tell you how many people conveniently forget to bring the jewelry back." she reminds you.
She smiles widely, showing off her sharply pointed teeth.
Julia starts for a moment but quickly regains her composure.
"Perhaps we can look through some of the imperial records for the nobility?"
"If you're looking for information, you can't beat the library at the Kitharodian Academy. It's probably the largest one in Oppara. And if the books don't have what you're looking for, the bards there might. If you follow Canal Row towards Crownsgate, you can't miss it."

Lord Kastner, ever the gentlemen, sees Liraela to the door. "May Desna bid you good passage in her realm. Goodnight."
Trevor watches the purple-skinned woman leave unmolested. With the business to the next day, the cleric did not obtain sleeping companions for the night. Oh well, Trevor thinks to himself as he makes his way back to Kastner Manor, ever carefully of the more crowded streets and it's inhabitants.
The caydenite says his nightly prayers and drink some top-drawer scotch before bed.

"Sounds like a wise idea. Now that we are all gathered, shall we head to the Academy? Regardless of our individual missions, I'm sure we can all make use of the knowledge there."
Tychus eyes each group member, trying to gauge their preparedness for the trials and tribulations ahead.
Henrika Karthis
"Agreed," says Henrika. She is a little nervous about carrying the costume jewelry on her person for the rest of the day, but then she reasons that she wouldn't want to leave it unguarded at home, so it might as well be with her. "I never thought I'd be eager to visit a library before, but as our hostess says, there might be useful information to be found there."
Liraela the Inkweaver
Lord Kastner, ever the gentlemen, sees Liraela to the door. "May Desna bid you good passage in her realm. Goodnight."
”So polite! Thank you, good sir, I’m sure we could all use a good nights’ rest. Take care!”
"Our patron has involved me in a plan to embarrass some of her enemies, but I do not need to know anything specific about them to carry out my part of it. I might look them up if I have the chance, though."
”Now, that is…interesting. I would certainly love to tag along with you when that happens, if you don’t mind. Should be quite entertaining!” she says, laughing.
He also gives a glance and a smile towards the vishkanya. "And Liraela, you're looking inspiring as always. I certainly hope they were able to get you something that goes well with purple."
”Oh, you rascal!” she exclaims in mock outrage. ”I went with an emerald green look, I think that’ll work nicely.”
”Don’t you worry, dear, I’ll bring every single piece of jewelry back in the condition it’s in now. I take care of accessories!” with that, she picks out a handful of deliberately flashy golden wrist bands and a sizable necklace, topping the look off with two large golden hoop earrings. ”This will do perfectly, thank you so much!”
”This Academy, do we know where it is? Or how to get inside? Do we need some special permission or invitation? I haven’t been back in Oppara for very long, you see.” she finishes, as an explanation.

"If you follow Canal Row towards Crownsgate, you can't miss it."
(You are on Canal Row now. If you look at the map, there is a canal that runs through the city and forks west and east. If you take the east fork, it heads towards Crownsgate. You just need to walk along the water's edge to get there.)
"Well, you can't attend any classes without being enrolled but the campus itself is generally open to the public including the library. And especially so this week. I'm sure there are all sorts of performances going on."
Calistril 21, 4718 (Wealday, Afternoon) (Kitharodian Academy)
You follow the tailor's directions and easily come across the bardic academy after a short walk. Kitharodian Academy is a series of wooden and stone buildings built in a gothic style of pointed arches and tall vertical windows. Numerous statues of historical figures and magical beasts litter the campus square. Four major buildings stand out: the classrooms, the dormitory, the theater, and the library. Because of Exaltation Week, all of the buildings are currently also draped with family banners and provincial flags.
The academy is abuzz with students and visitors. Performers of all types are entertaining along every pathway; musicians, dancers, magicians, and more.
The library is an impressive two-story building with floor-to-ceiling shelves of books. In contrast to the outside, the library is respectfully quiet. A librarian greets the group when you enter, "Welcome to the Kitharodian Academy library. If you need any help finding anything, I will gladly assist you. Otherwise, you are welcome to explore the library on your own. Any of the shelves that you see here are open to the public but any area marked 'Restricted' is strictly denied; Please do not attempt to access them."
(Each person at the library can make one Gather Information check on a subject of their choice here. Diplomacy +9.)

Liraela the Inkweaver
Liraela revels in the celebrations outside of the library, taking perhaps a bit too long to make her way through the crowd. Dancing, singing, all sorts of fun activities; she feels at home here. This is where she truly feels she belongs, amongst the crowds of her people. Well, these weren't her people anymore, but she'd make sure they would be again.
She hears the rumor, but wants to hold onto that piece of information until she learns more about the person of interest.
Once inside the significantly more quiet library, she becomes notably muted. Not uncomfortable, but less exuberant.
"Let's get this over with, shall we? I am not of a mind to stay here longer than neccessary." she doesn't sound upset or anxious, just quick.

Ah, of course, my apologies. In that case, I'll go deeper in research on Lady Morilla. She sounds like exactly the type of person I'd like to get to know!

Xallis nods to the librarian. "Of course. One thing... I have an assistant that I like to conjure from time to time. Translations, what have you." He makes a casual, almost dismissive waving motion with his hand. "Are there any regulations I should be aware of? Perhaps a room slightly out of the way to bring them over, if I require them?"
And once that's settled...
"You know, I've always wanted to really dive into this place." Xallis looks around at all the books with a hint of awe in his eyes. "I've already poured through the best tomes at our estate, and while the archives of the Pathfinder Society are impressive in their own right, I never did get to tap that resource before I left."
"But I digress. I think I'll thumb through the books and chat with my fellow enthusiasts."

He makes a casual, almost dismissive waving motion with his hand. "Are there any regulations I should be aware of? Perhaps a room slightly out of the way to bring them over, if I require them?"
The librarian replies, "Oh yes, oh course. Follow me, we have a room you can use right over here." She guides you a side room and holds the door for you while motioning you inside. The room is a Spartan windowless wood-paneled room with a large flat table in the center and a number of chairs around it. An everburning torch in a wall sconce illuminate the room. "You wouldn't be the first wizard to conjure an assistant. Just take care not to damage anything. When you are done, you can just leave the books on the table and I'll put them away." The librarian then leaves you to your business.
Since Henrika is also researching Martella, the two of you pour over some books in the room and learn the following information about your employer:
The wealthy Lotheed family has been a strong supporter of the Stavians for almost 100 years. They have a long family tradition of arcane magic, adding to their wealth and prestige.
Martella is the black sheep of her family, being a result of an extramarital dalliance with a Qadiran diplomat. She lacks her family’s gift for magic as well, adding to their resentment.
Despite her family’s disdain, Martella still commands some wealth and has extensive contacts, having attended the Sinora Academia, Taldor’s most exclusive girls’ school.
Lore (Pathfinder Society), what would their primary interests be?: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
The Pathfinder Society's charter states that their primary goal is to further the glory of Taldor. Under Lady Morilla's leadership, they have also expanded into promoting international peace.

He learns the following about Count Orlundo Zespir:
Although he learned the fundamentals of governance from his parents and uncles, as the third-born son of his family, Orlundo stood little chance of inheriting much more than a title. He joined Taldor’s military and traveled widely, first as an ambassador’s guard and later as the leader of a pirate-hunting unit along the Jagged Saw, the most treacherous stretch of Taldor’s coastline. His orders to track and capture a particularly nefarious pirate led him all the way into the River Kingdoms in pursuit, and it was there that his tenacity and sheer skill on the rivers earned him his nickname, “the Iron Gar.” The expedition made him a minor hero back home, and Grand Prince Stavian III appointed him to a vacant seat in the senate, where he represents central Tandak’s interests.

Icabhod forgoes research in order to keep an eye on the area. He suspects that their observer will make another attempt and wants to position himself to head off any problems.

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

The prospect of being stalked by unseen observers greatly disturbs the chelaxian noble. In between conversations, Xallis slips back into the private room. After making sure he's alone, (or at least out of sight from anyone who isn't an ally,) he begins his minute-long summoning ritual.
Clawed fingers, glistening with gold-colored tips and covered in black silk, tear through the protective sack as the figure inside emerges. A female outsider steps free, mossy green bedecked in black silks and gold-colored jewellery. As she does, the deflated cocoon turns to dust and vanishes without a trace.
"This doesn't look like your house." She brushes her head tendrils away from her face and grins. "Are we gonna get into some mischief, little pupa?"
Xallis emerges from the room while fidgeting with a cloth headband, making sure it completely covers up the red rune that dimly glows on his forehead as a side effect of the ritual. Navia's talons quietly clack on the floor as she follows close behind, wearing her summoner's cloak over her shoulders.
They share a brief glance as some unspoken intent passes between the two. "Stay close, keep an eye out for something suspicious. If anyone asks, you're my tiefling assistant. But besides that? Feel free to enjoy yourself. It's a festival, after all!"

Icabhod spots nothing further but a few academy students notice him crouched awkwardly behind a plant and give him odd looks as they stroll past.
The rest of you may also notice that Xallis has gained an interesting new companion while you were off somewhere else in the library that is now assisting him.
Your research takes up a good portion of the day and when you eventually emerge from the library, it is already late afternoon. Much of the crowd has now gathered towards the theatre where the academy student bards are putting on a play. Curious, you manage to squeeze your way into some seats in the back.
The play revolves around the succession of Grand Prince Daronlyr XII. The play is a political tragedy that concluded when Daronlyr learns that his cousin and current Emperer Parmain IV is plotting to undermine Taldor's imperial unity by ceding Taldan land to Kellid rebels. Unable to stomach this betrayal, Daronlyr draws his sword on Parmain. The Ulfen Guard jump to the Emperer's defense but Daronlyr turns aside all of their blows in an impressive display of choreographed swordsmanship and plunges his blade into Parmain's heart. He seizes the crown off of Parmain's dead body and upon placing it onto his head, the Ulfen Guard cease their attacks and bow before the new Grand Prince. At the play's conclusion, the crowd breaks into an uproar of cheers and applause.
Afterwards, you decide to break for the evening as well.

"Gentlemen and ladies! Our labors are done for the night", Trevor began. "I would like to invite those here to come join me at Cayden's Mug over in Grandbridge. As a gesture to help build bridges between us, and to enjoy the little Elysium Cayden made in our fair city."
Tychus Marcaius
"As much as I think we should be focusing solely on the missions ahead of us, I suppose it couldn't hurt to relax a bit beforehand. I've passed by Cayden's Mug several times, but I've never bothered to stop inside before."
Tychus's face breaks into a small smile, an uncommon occurrence for those around him.
"Let us hope it is as grand as you promise it to be! I'm certain Abadar will allow me this little reprieve."
