Lavinia turns to Pettinax, I do not think you will have much luck dealing with your grandmother. Shevhas not been of very sound mind as of late. But you could try.

She pauses a moment I believe that Vark is operating independently, taking advantage of the Islaran name.

I suspect that swimming will be needed unless we charge up the gang plank, I have a smattering of skill, and we should avoid heavy armor in case one of us goes over the rail.

"I haven't stayed in close contact lately, but that wouldn't surprise me. The old bat is getting on in years, after all." Pertinax responds, bitterness entering his voice as he thinks more about the way he was basically dumped at the temple by his family.

Thanaton glances around the table. "If you will permit, Lady Vanderboren, one final question? What do we know of the crew of this Vark's ship? Many use the undead for menial tasks, whether sailor or stevedore, and these laborers may be an unexpected asset to Mistress Slade and myself."

Lavinia stops to try and recall what she remebers seeing in her previous dealings,

All them were orcs, Vark bore the markings of Orcus.

Knowledge local DC 12:

You recall hearing of some orcs marked by orcus, they have midnight black skin that is as tough as leather, they are much stronger than most other orcs and more intelligent. they are known as the Black Orcs or Orcus.

They are a full head taller than other orcs and have been known to make common orcs cringe in fear, they also move about in daylight just as easily as in the darkness of the Darklands.

Knowledge local DC 17:

According to rumors, these orcs are taken at a young ageby Orcus, the Demon Lord of Undeath, and bred with demonic blood in a matter that would accommodate his diabolical needs.

They are known to be in the Employ of the Blood Raiders

their ferocity lets them remain in battle long when others would think them dead. its as though they are too angry to die

Trevor spent way too long not meeting people, lol.

Well if they are orcs, then we might be able to trick them. Considering their low intelligence due to.. Trevor slips into some weird medical jargon.

"Some kind of divine caster then? That could complicate things."

Pertinax does not have Knowledge(Local), and has no idea he's wildly off base about what the "markings of Orcus" refers to.

Well now that we have a goal, shall we perhaps scout out the docks to observe the ship and plan a route?

Nathrae nods. "We'll get it sorted."

She stands up from her seat. "Let's go."

Pertinax nods and stands up. "After you, ma'am."

Thanaton stands. "Then it is settled. We will find this Vark, consume his soul, and return to you with your ship, Lady Vanderboren."

Lavinia smiles at your decision This is very good. I am prepared to offer you each a sum of 100 gold coin if you can successfully retrieve my property.

She offers a toast to the success of the group

May you find victory in the name of House Vanderboren

Once the Toast is complete, You will find my Ship the "Blue Nixie" at Pier five in the Merchant District located near the Gondola station and the Merchant's Guildhouse

Location of the Blue Nixie

Note that in Telderist, there is a semblance of night and day. the roof of this cavern is covered in a translucent lichen that illuminates on a cycle. giving a day time' During the daylight time the entire city is considered Dim Light

Shall we be stealthy or right up the gang plank? We could try bluffing our way in as well. I will need a few minutes to adjust my extracts depending on what we do.

Trevor will stroll past the shop to just get an idea what it looks like.

After receiving his instructions, Thanaton bows to Lady Vanderboren, then begins to make his way through the winding streets of the Merchant District towards the docks and the impounded ship. As he passes the Shrine of Droskar, he addresses his companions, the black pits of his eyes flicking between the various other Vanderboren 'troubleshooters.' "Seeing such structures reminds me of the importance of religion in a city such as Telderist. Faith provides stability and structure in a city where that is the exception rather than the rule. Master Culexis, you implied that you were a Kuthite a few days ago, if memory serves. I cannot say that I know much of your faith, though I would be happy to learn. Master Pertinax, I feel that I know the faith of Dagon all too well, but I would appreciate your perspective. Mistress Urgathoan, you made your position all too clear at the memorial, though I will hear you if you have more to say. Mistress Khalazza, I confess that you are quite a mystery to me - despite my best efforts, I cannot determine the nature of your worship, if you do so at all."

The young tiefling pulls out his strange amulet, a death's head with coins over the eyes. He stares into it, seemingly entranced by its strange facets. "As for my own faith..." He trails off.

Nathrae glares at the shrine of Droskar before snorting and moving along.

"I don't." She says in response to Thanaton's question. "I've served under too many entitled idiots in cleric trappings who never received their position through actually being competent in command."

She winces as her leg goes numb for a moment and drags behind her for a step in response.

"Now, as to getting aboard the ship, I think a direct approach would be best."

I am agreeable to it. Shall we try to bluff our way on or straight up violence?

M NE Tiefling (Grimspawn) Necromancer 2 HP: 12/12 | AC: 12/12/10 | CMD: 13 | F: +2; R: +2; W: +3 | Resist: cold 5, electricity 5, fire 5 | Init: +2 | Perception: +0; Darkvision 60 ft

Nathrae's words seem to rouse Thanaton from his reverie, and he raises an eyebrow at the warrior's vehement tone. Once she changes the subject, however, he refocuses on the task at hand, peering ahead for any sign of the Blue Nixie. "A frontal approach may indeed prove best, Mistress Khalazza. If we wish to attempt talking before or instead of killing the crew, however, I can speak the Orcish tongue quite well, as an enforcer in my guild is a half-orc. Dakor visits freelance mages and gives them a friendly warning by imploding their skulls." The corners of his mouth twitch upwards briefly in another approximation of a smile. "His mind is keen, but he is most unskilled at cards. A good friend in a city where such friends are rarer than platinum."

"I am an accomplished swimmer, praise be to Dagon," Pertinax says, holding up a partially-webbed hand "and might be able to come at their ship from an unexpected angle. I am not, however, much of a climber, so it'd be best to make sure there's an easy way up the ship's side before I go in."
