Verrek singes the last bird, while Umbro fires two lethal shots, downing the last of the excited birds.
Combat over!
Something seems to have really riled up the local wildlife. This forest was much more peaceful before...
The trail of the rock bears leads on as the forest becomes darker, and the trees are starting to look a bit more ragged.
There is a strong smell of rotting vegetation.
The trees in the area are not looking very healthy. Some disease is affecting them.
The steps in the rock bear trail shows an irregular gait, as though they were deliberately avoiding certain areas.

"The trees out here are looking more ragged, there's a certain rotting smell, they are definitely diseased. It also looks like the rockbears have been avoiding certain areas - so either they can sense something, or their handler is steering them"
"Let's stick to the bear tracks then, perhaps the damage to the plantlife is man-made, some sort of defoliant harmful to organic life? I'd need to take samples, but we don't have the time now"
The detective stays on the trail, eye out for ambush, and pistol drawn hoping it happens.

Gunnz manages to find a way to support the nearby trees, which should be enough to allow the group safe passage. The trail leads to a little mound in the forest, consisting of boulders and claw-gouged trees. Inside are two large creatures with green fur chomping on a deer carcass, an activity that comes with a fair share of growls and snorts.

Roquefort has seen bears, but none that act so strange as these. He immediately fires off a shot, and also notes that it doesn't quite have the effect he hoped for... it does massive damage, but the typical serrated, bleeding wound he expects to see doesn't quite materialize. Gunnz tries as well, having a devastating effect on the bear, but also here no big puddles of blood are gushing out. Weird.

She continues her rant You see, major Aliorno is incompetent! I should be running the town. My plan was perfect, until you interfered!
