Believing it be demons the party faces, Claremguard draws his blade and cries out to the goddess, "Iomedae guide my blade!"
Smite v blue
He then rushes toward the nearest foe.

"Ey, Claremguard! Drink that potion!"

![]() |

And Claremguard does indeed smite the foul creature, utterly annihilating it How do you want to do this?
Green double moves to take it's place. Claremguard and Saphera need to make Fort saves versus this one's stench aura.
The Berbalang takes to the air and swoops down onto the party, landing just in front of the enlarged Derf. ((double move))
Hunter is up before Yellow.
Order (for reference):
Dimak, Derf, and Saphira are up first before Red and Blue
Clairemguard is next then the Berbalang and Green
Hunter precedes Yellow
Goran is last.

Saphera adjusts her positioning back five-foot, flanking Dimak's new opponent. After repositioning, she carefully observes the winged creature and begins looking for any sign of weakness. Without delay, she brings her sword into a defensive low swing, directed at the creature's leg.

Claremguard, I stated a few posts back the Saphera shares whatever knowledge she uncovers with the group. With that, you would know they are undead. The group would also know about the DR of the Berbalang.

The Berbalang takes to the air and swoops down onto the party, landing just in front of the enlarged Derf.
I think you meant Dimak, not Derf... and because the barbarian is enlarged and wields (wears) a weapon (his helmet) that threatens 5 and 10 feet, he gets an AoO, right?
Question: Does the Berbalang have any weapons?
![]() |

The berbalang does not appear to have weapons apart from natural ones. And Dimack does indeed get an AOO
Saphra misses

![]() |

When the Berbalang starts landing, Dimak's head whips forward...
This attack happens before Saphera positions herself, so no flank or aid another yet.

...and strikes the monster hard!
Nice, a confirmed crit with ok damage rolls! :-D
Total damage: 16
Edit: Corrected the damage dice - used the wrong increase for enlarge...*facepalm*

![]() |

Derf's readied action does indeed hit the flatfooted Red. So does Hunter. Between the two of them, Red is destroyed.
Dimal dies indeed hit the monster hard but it appears to shrug off most of that damage (B:-6) unless Derf's helmet is Good or Silver.
Saphira is able to add another. My bad, never encountered that rule before
Yellow double moves up.
Everyone but Hunter and Claremguard are up, now that Red and Blue are gone

Shield of faith 2/50 (AC) 27 It now includes fatigued.

... which obviously misses allowing Derf to pulverise Green into the ground.
Saphira also scores a good hit doing quite a bit of damage even after DR ((B:-22))

![]() |

Dimak does not like to be that near to the berbalang, but he has a backup plan for this kind of situation.
He drops the hammer (free action), draws his greatsword (move action) and lets the monster have it. (standard action to attack)
MW Greatsword + PA, enlarged, fatigued, flank, aid: 1d20 + 10 - 2 + 0 - 1 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 10 - 2 + 0 - 1 + 2 + 2 = 29 for Slashing + PA, enlarged, fatigued

Fort saves to avoid the paralysis if any attacks hit.
Claremguard and Hunter are up.
((My mistake - Claremguard should have been up before the monster but, somehow, I don't think it is going to matter))

Yellow takes the hit and damage ((what sort of damage is it? This might be important))

@Claremguard: You rolled a 19 on a longsword - that's a critical threat. Please roll for confirmation!

Also, I realize that I had forgotten to include the flank in the above roll, but mistakenly left in the reference to the use of smite (although I had correctly removed the modifiers for smite) in my prior post.

Dimak continues to attack the monster. (standard action to attack)

The berbalang is really considering being on the ground is a bad idea and takes to the air - AOO's from anyone who has them.

It doesn't really matter that Saphera missed, because Dimak's critical Slash causes the Berbalang to crash into the ground. Even with it's DR, it's quite dead. ((How do you want to do this?))
The way to the summit is now clear.
It is possible to resantify the area which can be done by burning the remains of the undead followed by the casting of a consecrate spell. Instead of the spell a ritual to Sarenrae can be performed requiring a K. Religion check to to complete properly.

![]() |

I'll try to purify the area... Goran says after setting fire to the undead.

"I'll help with the process." Saphera offers as she starts collecting up whats needed.

It doesn't really matter that Saphera missed, because Dimak's critical Slash causes the Berbalang to crash into the ground. Even with it's DR, it's quite dead. ((How do you want to do this?))
Even when very, very tired the embiggened barbarian doesn't let any opening in his enemy’s defense go to waste. His greatsword goes up smoothly and comes down in a powerful diagonal slice that cuts the berbalang into two pieces.
"Pah!" Dimak spits on the new body he created... twice. "Despite not being at our full strength, this thing was still no match for us. I hope we get something more challenging interesting soon!"
The dwarf cleans his blade and sheathes it, then he picks up his hammer again. He then checks the remains of the berbalang for anything useful.
Perception, Take 20: 20 + 8 = 28

![]() |

Claremguard is able to guide the others in performing the ritual.
I believe you'd have to wait til next morning for that Goran, but there's nothing to stop you doing that before the descent.
Dimak doesn't spot any loot.
So onto the summit.
Antios’s Crown is a sprawling network of cyclopean statues, towering obelisks, opulent shrines, and mausoleums large enough the house the dead of entire cities. A layer of snow coats nearly every horizontal surface, and the decorative fountains and pools spread throughout the peak’s many plazas are all frozen solid. From this altitude, the view over the Tandak Plains to the west and south extends nearly two hundred miles.
Now you're here, you need to locate Lord Tulwin's mausoleum among the vast maze of memorials and burial sites.
Make Perception checks.

![]() |

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27

![]() |

With rolls like that Dimak and Derf soon find a mausoleum (opulent by typical standards, but modest compared to many others on Antios’s Crown) adorned with a large heraldic coat-of-arms bearing the image of a winged boar above the door after 1d4 ⇒ 4 hours of searching.
Two rows of three columns each flank the solid gold doors beneath House Tulwin’s crest. The doors themselves are unbarred.
Those who are not yet fatigued please make another Fort save - DC 41.

Am I correct that the sickened condition from the previous fight is now gone?
