"How about we put the weapons down and talk it out."
Angel enters the room and uses Wireless Hacking to Overload the Shirren's weapon for a round.
Reflex Save DC 17 to prevent.

Chip puts his hands at shoulder level, palms out, indicating a lack of current assassination-related activity. He's smart enough to know anything he says is as likely to make things worse as better, so he keeps silent.
Game Master S
I'm not sure how I missed Chip's post! The gesture may work, but it'll take a Diplomacy check.

diplomacy: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0
Unfortunately, Chip's drone is hovering right in front of his face and it's pretty unsettling.
Game Master S
"GAH!!!!!!!" The shirren takes a wild shot at Chip while trying to flee:
GAHHHH: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13 thankfully the shot is TOO wild.
This shirren is clearly terrified, not combative. A standard action Diplomacy check may be enough to sooth them.
ROUND 1:
Angel: Overload
Chip: Fail
Shirren: ATK
Aldo: Go (at GenCon, may need bot.)
Kaz: Go

BOTTING FOR ALDO
Calm yourself!! I promise we're not assassins, and we're certainly NOT after you! Maybe we can help you?? I'm Aldo, that weird-looking--but harmless!--fellow there is Chip. My other friends here are Kaz and Angel. Please, put down your weapon and let's use our words instead!
diplomacy: 1d20 + 17 + 1d6 ⇒ (16) + 17 + (4) = 37
Game Master S
"Really? But what about the explosion? That's not to make my death look like an accident? If you're not here to kill me, what are you here for?"
Out of combat. For calming him down you still earn XP for the victory, 1,600 XP.
Game Master S
"Yeah, I've seen one here. She's always hanging out with the human woman. I don't know their names. Last I saw they were in the common room next door!"
Kazador Agudo Garrez
"Yeah, I've seen one here. She's always hanging out with the human woman. I don't know their names. Last I saw they were in the common room next door!"
The vesk raises his doshko in triumph and gives an evil sounding baritone Hhhhiiisssssssssss, fortunes favor us. Lets go!
He starts to charge out of the room but then turns and points his weapon at the shirren. Thank you comrade!
Game Master S
The shirren sheepishly waves, and then crawls back into a bunk and pulls the sheets over their head (antennae included.)
Kaz busts into the next room as water floods past his feet. Who knows how deep it would be if Chip hadn't worked outside? Still, teh water is rising in this room. This utilitarian room’s benches fold out from the walls, and one wall has a large vidscreen mounted on it, currently playing some kind of horror movie. A low table even with the surface of the water sloshes over the floor.
Two women, one human, the other Brennari, work frantically to address numerous small cracks in this room. Once the door is open, the brennari shouts, “If we don’t stop the flooding, the struts will give out and we’ll all die! I can feel them buckling!” The human looks ready to bolt, but the brennari continues to work.
Angel.
"Tell us what needs to be done!"
Angel has a bad feeling that it is too far gone, but will help if repairs are possible.

It really does seem like Chip's work was key. Still, there's no guarantee. You could probably finish searching the place for more EJ dirt. The bennari's eyes go wide when she finally lays eyes on Kaz, "Wait! I know you. You're a former terraformer. And you!" She turns to Aldo, "Union life, huh?"
“Came crawling back for me, eh? Well,” she says, gesturing around, “I haven’t exactly moved up in the world, have I? By the way, m'name's Shan."
Chip the Android
Hello Shan. Tarika would like a word with you, and we'd like to facilitate that reunion.
Chip takes a quick look around the room for Ej info!!
perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25
Game Master S
MOM?! Holy servo lube!" Okay, yeah, we gotta get out of here, but man, I'd like to give EJ a black eye. Come on Kaia, we're outa here! Let's GOOOOOO"
Chip looks around, but if there's anything of value left, it's got to be in the unexplored parts.

Kaz busts into the next room. A well-stocked galley lies in utter disarray as dry foods have fallen off steel shelving and into seawater.
the party quickly i.e. Takes 10 and finds only one thing of note, but it's a beuty. An ancient bottle of high end liquor. Aldo opines that it's worth 4,000 credits or so!
Chip the Android
Shan, Kaia...you are much more familiar with this facility than we are. Do we have any time to, as you suggest, "Give Ej a black eye" before we are inundated?
Game Master S
"Well, you came from the west, where did you enter from? Let's just make a quick pass through the short way back!"
Chris Marsh

Seeing no reason to disagree, Angel leads the party southeast to the Power bay. An array of subtly glowing power cells lines the walls of this cramped room, where the smell of seaweed and an underlying scent of ozone fill the air. Perception check (or lower DC Engineering check.
Aldo Cygnaurius
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
"Shan, I cannot begin to tell you how relieved I am to see you. Getting you out of here safely is our top priority, but I am am in complete agreement with the crew that giving EJ a black eye would be a nice thing to do."
Game Master S
The water in here is still rising, but not terribly fast. Aldo notices that one of the power cells on the wall isn’t properly seated in its housing, exposing an incomplete circuit. At the current rate of flow, a full minute in here and it's going to get tingly. Engineering check now has more to reveal.

”Come take a look at this. Perhaps you could investigate this further.”
Aldo points out the power cell.
Kaz quickly pulls out a grenade and starts to come over. But suddenly stops as the others give him strange looks. He puts the explosive away and Chip thinks he could hear the vesk mutter… Just when I think Im getting the hang of Common slang…

Thankfully it's Angel to the rescue, and not Kaz, who discovers Shan and Kaia hiding at the sight of the grenade.
Angel sees that the two are pretty state of the art and would likely fetch a pretty credit on the market. Maybe.... 3,000 credits apiece? Either way, she averts an electrical disaster/ Also netting the party 800 XP.
It doesn't seem like there's much else here.
Game Master S
The party races to the ship with two rescues in tow. The flooding is largely stopped, but that's when a strut crumbles a bit and the whole station shakes. "Wait!"
Shan stops you just before you board, "There are others here. they're not evil, EJ is. And.... I think this is my fault. we need to get everyone and prevent this place from killing others. We can't leave." she obviously hasn't told you the whole story, and there were others you met and you haven't been everywhere. The call is yours.
Game Master S
"Okay, there are two guards, a shirren named Xivix, a Rill named Righteous, and the machanic, a morlamaw named Birshae."
Chip the Android

Very well, let's go rescue these...life forms.
These last 2 words are in a bit of a sing-song voice...
He pauses in the midst of a little finger-snap-hand-clap gesture, then turns to Shan. We might save some time. My drone might retrace our steps and alert the ones we've already found to leave. Perhaps if I could record a quick message from you that the drone could replay to them...
the drone has a camera & can record; I'm thinking it could do a 20 second video of Shen saying "GET OUT!!" and be able to play it for anyone it finds?? That way we can go where we haven't yet while still backtracking
Game Master S
I'll allow it for the ones you've left behind. You killed the two guards, you helped out Xivix, you brought the mechanic to. That leaves the Rill and the morlamaw. You've got rooms you haven't seen yet.
Aldo Cygnaurius
"Alright, it looks like we are not evacuating yet. Chip, you seem rather chipper! Let's move and find these 'life forms'. This way!"
Aldo directs the crew to open the hatch to the southeast and proceed that way.
Game Master S
The party heads southeast to the final spoke of the wheel. Water fills this room despite Chip's efforts. A massive drilling rig has collapsed through the sea-facing wall, and now takes up much of the chamber. An android’s corpse occupies the control chair. Large tanks filled with a dull-gray liquid leak into the water.
Aldo Cygnaurius
Aldo does a quick scan of the room and tries to find them!
"Rill . . . Birshae!" He calls out in case they can hear him.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12
The captain however, is preoccupied with the continuous flooding and even if they were staring him in the face, it is doubtful whether he would even see them at all.
Game Master S
It's a mess in here. The corpse is actually the missing rill. You can tell that while shrapnel from the explosion hit him, the collapsed drilling rig pinned him in the seat, so he likely drowned.
Shan lets out a moan, "this is all my fault!"
Aldo Cygnaurius
”Don’t blame yourself, dear. The EJ has its own way of hurting others. You are just trying to do what we are all trying, fly free or die!”
Angel.
"Looks like that one is beyond our help. Is there anything we can do here? Is there anywhere else we haven't searched?"
Game Master S
You haven't searched the center room, which is apparently The Pump Room and something Shan calls "The Moon Pool."
Game Master S
Shan's anxiety is growing as you explore, not going down.... Sense Motive DC 24
The interior of this wide, open room appears awash with glowing rivulets of light that reflect off the large, round pool of water at its center. Along the water’s edge, a steel grating supports an assortment of diving equipment. On the northern wall, wet suits and heavier aquatic gear hang in open lockers, each accompanied by a name stenciled above it. Soft, red warning lights pulse along the edge of the room. A fully charged suit of personal, submersible powered armor is plugged into a charging bay. A bank of 10 batteries and 10 high-capacity batteries, all waterproofed and compatible with standard technology, sits on a rolling rack, all fully charged.
