Betel tries writing on the mirror - with a chalk stick - in mirror writing - to see if that works.

I discovered the Lodge's procedure to deal with planar anomalies she says. But, given the current circumstances, we'll need to communicate it to the students - or get them back to the conference room where they can read it for themselves.

Why is that blade doing that?

Hancock is also curious about the sword, wondering whether it has anything to do with this whole planar schism thing going on, but has no idea how to find out.

The End Awakens | The Day the River Died

The shimmering sword looks almost tangible to Betel. As if it’s somehow in both the student’s AND your phase. Reaching out to touch it, Vim jumps back as the sword disappears from her perspective -Hey what happened, where’d it go? - and is easily clutched and held by you as it now looks like not just a practice blade but a nice steel short sword with a jewled pommel.
Some Treasure for you

what should we do now? Greta asks her friends.
Perhaps keep looking around, see if there is any sign of the Pathfinders that should be here? Hari proposes. Theres still much of the Lodge we haven’t searched.

The students look about to continue searching on their own (though together as you previously Communicated them to). If you want to try to specifically guide their next moves, you can try to Communicate as normal

Whoops, missed that bit

Wait! Tels exclaims to the others, looking at the mirror as Betel slowly scribes on it. Lutir? Oh, Ritual? he scratches his head. A ritual? What, where?

She'll walk slowly to the conference room, and try to knock a small object or tilt a painting or something every 15 or 20 feet to give the children a path to the conference room that she and Betel were in before these Voidworms attacked.

The four students start moving with haste back towards the conference room as Hepcut also eads the way with scattered noises and rustles.

When they're in the conference room, the kids look over the papers and quickly find the document Betel flagged.
So, there's some sort of ritual someone needs to do to get things back to normal? Are we those people? But it has to be in the center of the thing. Where's the center? The maze? The center of the lodge? Does Narven mean anything? as Vim asks a bunch of follow up questions, Tels shrugs.

I don't know Vim. But the one thing it looks like we definitely need is a shield, a pitcher, and a lodestone. I think I saw some shields in the training room, but I don't know where a pitcher or that stone might be.

Then we'll need to keep searching Hari says. But with our eyes open for a more specific focus.

You can also try to feel free to try to Communicate/interrupt this if you'd like - this unusual sandbox-y mission is a bit oddly timey-wimey in the PbP format :p

The End Awakens | The Day the River Died

As Ada heals her allies' cuts and bruises, the students exit the conference room and continue their search around the lodge's rooms.

Keeping things moving:

As they approach the room next door, Grelta's snout twitches. hey. i think i smell something inside. it smells good!

The kobold opens the door and you can see a kitchen in the room beyond. A wide variety of chopped herbs and ground spices sits out in small bowls upon the room's central table next to open cookbooks, while a dusting of flour coats the work surface. Everything seems in place for the cooking of a delicious meal, and looking in you see there appear to be appears that five dishes are cooking simultaneously. Or rather are cooking simultaneously! On top of the large oven and cooktop on the far wall multiple pots are steaming and on the verge of bubbling over, while hot oil is sputtering and spraying in frying pans.

huh, or not. Grelta says confused as she looks in. it smells good but there's no food she says even as her eyes scan right over the pots you can see threatening to overflow.
(her bird Ruffles in turn squirms in her grip as its eyes seemed locked onto some caraway seeds on the floor)

Ooo, but there's gotta be a pitcher in here! Vim says. The goblin hurries into the room excitedly. Plus we still need to find the secret ingredient, right?

Of course as the goblin looks around, all of you see a big *splat* of grease popping launches a globule of grease out of a frying pan - and directly onto a nearby cookbook! None of the students seem to have noticed, but you wince as the grease smudges and smears the pages, rendering its recipes illegible!

Kitchen KNIGHTMARES!!!

The food being actively prepped for lunch seems to have shifted onto your lot's 'phase' of existence. But without anyone to finish or mind it this well-rounded meal is about to turn into a disaster!

If you want to try and get these courses under control, you can try to finish up the dishes properly with a Cooking Lore (if Trained) or Crafting check. Each is two Actions (◈◈) and you'll need to be by one of the disastrous dishes. You could also try to reach through the veil to get one of the students to try to save the dish with Diplomacy or Occultism - also two Actions (◈◈)

(Alternately, you could try to normally Communicate from Beyond with Athletics or Thievery - while using those skills won't be specific enough to get the fine details of culinary nuances across, doing so (again as a two action activity) would give a bonus on the next attempt to Disable this situation as you partially nudge the children in the right direction.)

But isn't it delightful? :)

Hancock gets the student's attention so they move into the room. What's that? Are we supposed to do something in here? Like a code or a trick?

Betel and Ahas shimmer a spoon and nudge a knife, which get Vim and Hari to try stirring and adjusting the heat of the fires. Unfortunately, the students still can't see what they're doing, and in the heat of the moment no apologies they misinterpret the chaperones instructions and the pots in question bubble and release a nauseating odor as they start to turn.

Can Ahas and Betel give me a DC 17 Fort save, or else be sickened 1

Luckily Ada seems to have taken some food-based electives in her time in the Magaambya. Manipulating the spoon and ladles isn't easy in her current state, but she knows just what to do to make the most of her minimal movements. Two of the dishes settle down and calm as fragrant and tantalizing scents waft through the air.

That Crit success counts as two successful disable checks!

The half-elf grabs one of the books and leafs through it, stopping at a page with a picture of a scrumptious-looking tart opposite its recipe. Good find Grelta! So, it looks like for a Woodsedge Tart, they use cinnamon specifically from Minata. That must be the secret! And getting it must be a nightmare.

Plus we got a pitcher! Vim says. The goblin has already grabbed a container almost as big as her torso and fills it with water as she talks. So that's two 'foci' or whatever down. And three assignments too! We're on a roll!

As they talk Betel notices out of the corner of her eye one of the pots in the corner of a room seemingly lift itself upwards. And upwards. Until it rises through the ceiling!

Meanwhile on the counter, while the foodstuffs in the pots and pans are still not exquisitely finished Ada sees a pair of completed appetizers crackers spread with cheese and pesto and topped with a bit of roast beef and a bit of cooking oil seem to shimmer on a side counter. She realizes those beef hors d'oeuvres could work as minor healing potions, and the oil as an oil of weightlessness

There are two appetizers/Minor Healing Potions, and one Oil of Weightlessness. How you all eat/split that is up to you all

Vim and the other studetns finish filling the pitcher and move into the main hall.

Heading upstairs quickly Betel and Hepcut see that the Woodsedge Lodge's second floor seems shaped a bit like an 'H'. The central hall overlooks the main lobby and the students below while to the east and west two hallways stretch the length of the lodge, each of those with a set of four closed doors leading to rooms beyond.

But where - relative to the circumstances - the main floor of Woodsedge was fairly normal, the lodge's upper floor is immediately more strange. Strange noises faintly sound out from different corners as you look out over the landing: a bird chirp from the west followed immediately by a loud *gong* of a bell to the south, then a babbling brook sound clashing with whispers in an Ustalavic accent. The other sense are similarly affected, as the carpets lining the halls here swirl with shifting colorful patterns and the incongruous scent of low ocean tide and desert winds waft through the air.

Made some colored circles on the -new! - map to highlight the doors up here, since a bit hard to see on this flipmat. Based on geography of the place, you think the room above the kitchen would be the 'purple' door.

Betel just sighs. Looks like we're dealing with non-euclidean planar geometry now. I've seen this sort of thing before..

She looks over to Hepcut. Have you ever heard of a tesseract? Or even a Mobius strip?

"Yeah, the second thing you said, that's the club run by the Calistrians in Kaer Maga, with the dancing priests and priestesses."

Betel raises an eyebrow. That sounds like the sort of place Mom would visit while she was still a Pathfinder. I've ... never understood the need for hedonistic pleasure myself but .... she just shrugs. Give me a good book any day.

"Well, okay, but explain your theory about how Hancock's going through the door here leads him to coming up over there."

Betel launches into an explanation of four dimensional geometry and space/time curvature using a flat piece of paper as a demonstration aid. So basically each door is joined to it's opposite door. When you go in one, you come out the other without crossing the intervening space.

Since the potions are taken, Ahas will just take the oil of weightlessness instead.

Ahas follows everyone as he keeps the vial of oil of weightlessness into one of his pockets. After a while he notices what bizarre thing has just happened to Hancock as he goes through the door and appearing to another.

"Is this some kind of teleportation device?" he muses as he follows Hancock. I move my icon next to Hancock.

"Ha! This is fun!" he adds.

Ahas seems excited about the strangeness of the doors up here. Trying to move through the door Hancock 'emerged from' I think, extraploating from the 'this is fun' remark the nagaji too feel a much more rough and disorienting sensation then when he had tried to pass through the lodge's doors below. A few moments later, he finds himself facing Betel and Hepcut as they talk, with Hancock a few doors down.

So, trying to 'phase' through the doors up here seem wonky.
Vim, Hari, Tels, and Grelta are currently on the first floor (along with the younger students) in the main lobby; Tels is carrying around a shield while Vim has a filled pitcher). Alec you last saw heading into the library to investigate it.
Betel has taken 9 damage (though has one of the minor healing potion pastries), Hepcut 5, and Ada 7 (Hancock 4, after snacking down)
What would you like to do?

Yes, I attempt to follow Hancock. And it seems exiting is random.

Emerging and finding himself arrive somewhere in the second floor, he finds that Hancock does not appear on the same door he exited. He finds the barbarian into his left, maybe wondering what has just happened. "Hey, I'm here!" he calls out to the barbarian, waving both hands to be noticed.

"Look! I just got out to this portal instead!" he exclaims to others. "You should try it!" he suggests to them the fun he is experiencing now after the disaster that had happened just recently in the kitchen.
