Wren Darkwing
Wren smiles at Daisy. "Long as they got drinks, I'm in! Maybe they'll have those fancy ones with bright colors and little umbrellas?"
Arabella Stormworth-Darling
If this is leading to an encounter that we all should be present for, Arabella can drag her old bones along, as long as she can get some strong coffee. If it is just a social RP thing, she'll return to the ship to rest.
Brook Longshot
So, who's definitely going? Sounds like Wren and Daisy for sure, maybe Harold. Brook?
Apologies for not botting, but Brook will always try to do a social thing that normal people do
"Arabella, would you please come with us? I read in an article about drinking that there are drinks that are made out of both coffee AND alcohol; those are probably some of the best drinks in the whole universe. If we find one, I will buy it for you and then you can tell me some more philosophy stuff so that I can be peaceful, or something. Please?
Wren Darkwing
Wren grins at Brook and Arabella. "I've tasted coffee that absolutely requires some form of liquor added just to make it edible." Then she winks at Harold. "I forget, do you owe me a drink, or do I owe you? Either way, I'm getting you out on the dance floor." Then she flits ahead to walk alongside Daisy, comparing notes on the latest fashionable drinks and dance moves.
Harold Wainwright
A Drink, Yes, I think I owe you the drink, but dancing, all I got are two left feet.
He grins, as he strolls along heading towards the ship.
You know, with this many, why are we not using one of the shuttles ?
GM_ZenFox42
You all go to the nightclub the bartender mentioned, and it is everything he said it was, and more. The DJ is playing very dance-able music, the bartenders are even more dexterous than the restaurant's bartender was, throwing the bottles high and making them spin several times before catching them, often behind their backs.
Does anyone want to do anything specific while you're here (like drink a specific kind of drink, dance, talk to the other patrons, etc.)?
Harold Wainwright
Harold just finds a table, sits down, and enjoys a drink or two, and the ambiance.
He will kind of keep an eye on the crowd, and the others in the party.
Harold Wainwright
Seeing Daisy in a bit of a Predicament, Harold starts making his way to her.
My love, thats where you got to. I lost track of you when I went to use the Wash room, shall we go back to our table
He offers his arm, and starts to take steps back trying to get Daisy clear of the drunk.
I will keep my arms as free as I can, while keeping an eye on the drunkard.
Wren Darkwing
Wren enjoys a few drinks herself, as well as a few dances (with Daisy, if there are no other takers), and when the drunk fellow accosts her friend, the thief slips in to take Daisy's other arm, draping it around her own shoulder as Harold move in to do the same. "You were so right! This place is amazing! How about another drink?" She giggles into Daisy's ear as she ever so gently brushes against the stranger, picking his pocket - if there is anything to be found in there. Then she smiles at the browncoat flanking Daisy and winks. "Don't worry, I took good care of her, darling brother. I think we could BOTH do with another drink, though. We're having sooo much fun!"
Thievery Check: 1d10 ⇒ 11d6 ⇒ 3 +1 = 4
I don't think this is a critical failure, because they aren't both '1's, correct? If so, I'll use a Bennie to reroll my trait die (which includes the wild die too?), if that's OK?
Thievery Check Reroll: 1d10 ⇒ 91d6 ⇒ 3 +1 = 10
Arabella Stormworth-Darling
Arabella drinks one of the stimulating drinks discussed earlier to keep her energy up. She keeps a low profile, sipping the drink, listening to the music, watching the dancers.
And woman not as old as her but older than many of the patrons asks Arabella to dance. She agrees and tries to remember the steps of some of the dances she has learned in her long life. I'm imagining something like swing dancing. Maybe something like this.
Afterwards they chat a bit and then the woman takes her leave.
Observing the situation with Daisy and the drunk Arabella keeps an eye on the drunk in case it turns out to be more than just a tipsy, horny dude thinking with something besides his brain.
GM_ZenFox42
Wren - that was not a Critical Failure, correct. But why the +1 on the Wild die? If you have some Edge or something that grants you a +1 to your Thievery rolls, you add the bonus to *both* the Skill die and the Wild die.
Wren manages to deftly slip her hand into the guy's pocket, and removes its entire contents. She has his wallet, the ticket into this place, and a slip of paper with the name of the club on it and a time : 11 PM. It's now 10:50.
What do you all do?
Wren Darkwing
@GM Yes, it's a +1 from the Thievery Edge. The way the dice roller formatted just threw it at the end, and the Wild Dice was the second roll. I was adding that +1 to whichever die roll was higher, is that correct? So in this instance, the first roll would have been a '4' (added to the Wild Die) and the reroll was a '10' (added to the Trait Die.) Hopefully I'm explaining that in a way that makes sense...
Wren goes through his wallet once they've ditched the drunk and shows the slip of paper to the others. "A meeting, maybe? Or is something going to happen in ten minutes? Maybe we ought to keep an eye on that guy."
Wren Darkwing
Wren chews her lower lip for a moment, as though weighing the options. Finally she speaks. "My curiosity is up. Let's keep an eye on that fella and see what happens in ten minutes or so."
Arabella Stormworth-Darling
Arabella makes eye contact with Daisy, nods and continues watching from a side table, keeping where she can see the drunk. If he does anything odd, she will consider striking up a conversation with him.
'Anything odd' means if he doesn't hit on any women or drink anything, perhaps talking to someone in person or on a communications link. She also tries to tell if he might have any weapons hidden. Any of that might require a notice roll, so here it is.
Notice: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Wild: 1d6 ⇒ 5
GM_ZenFox42
At 11 PM, you all see a man approach the pick-up artist. He obviously doesn't fit in with the crowd, he's wearing a very expensive business suit. They greet each other like casual acquaintances, shaking hands but not smiling at each other.
Everyone make a Notice check, at -1 due to the constantly shifting crowd sometimes blocking your line-of-sight to them.
Wren Darkwing
GM, would my last rolls count for this? Or roll again? My result should be 6, with the penalty if my last roll works.
Wren Darkwing
Fair enough!
Wren does her best to watch the interaction between the suit and the drunk, wondering what kind of business they might have together. Being a thief herself, she's betting it's something underhanded. But the crowd makes it difficult to keep an eye on them.
Notice & Wild: 1d8 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 11d6 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0
LOL! Ouch!! Thinking again that's not a fumble in the sense she couldn't use a bennie, since she didn't roll a '1' on the dice for both? If so, using a bennie now...
Notice & Wild: 1d8 - 1 ⇒ (8) - 1 = 71d6 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4
Notice Extra Roll: 1d8 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0
Well I don't know what to make of that, to be honest... I'll leave up to you, GM!
GM_ZenFox42
Wren - for reasons I explain in Discussion, you actually rolled an 8, which is a Raise, which means you did exceptionally well.
Wren sees the newcomer hand off a small device to the pick-up artist when they shake hands. It's about the size and shape of a small memory device (think USB thumb drive).
What do you all do?
Wren Darkwing
Wren turns to the others and speaks softly. "If anyone wants to follow the well-dressed gent, we should split up now. I'm going to get that device he just handed off to our drunken friend. But I'd like someone to stay as back up." She grins at Harold and winks. "How about you and Daisy, big guy? We can pick up and finish our earlier lie."
Then, once the newcomer is gone (with or without any of the others following) and their target has put away the memory device into whatever pocket he might have, Wren approaches the drunk, acting a bit tipsy herself. "Well now, my brother and his date are having such a good time... how about you and me, fella? Care for a dance?"
If the drunk is willing (or even if he starts to balk, as she drags him out to the floor), Wren will use their close proximity to try to snag the device and even return his wallet to him, complete with the paper they'd taken a look at.
Theivery & Wild: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 91d6 ⇒ 2
Wren Darkwing
Finishing the dance, Wren fans her face with one hand in exaggerated fashion. "Thirsty work! Buy me a drink, fella? I need to visit the ladies' room and freshen up a bit!" Once the man is out of sight, she detours from the restroom and grabs Daisy and Harold, linking her arms into each of theirs. "Got it! Time to go! Quickly, before he comes back! Though I do hate missing out on a free drink... You owe me one, Harold."
Wren votes for getting out of there!
Arabella Stormworth-Darling
Arabella has been keeping her distance from the others, watching the interactions in case help is needed. When Daisy and the others appear to be leaving, Arabella slips out as well (she has been paying for her food/drinks as she goes, so her tab is paid).
