INITIATIVE (ROUND 2)
Zharis
Xylian
Tulgram
Lurkers
The Mass
Hani
Jin (*Burning 1d4)
Bold should go!
From the thick orange line all the right to the wall of fire is essentially a mass of burning undead that is 7' high. You can enter these squares, but they count as 3 squares of movement (and obviously, there may be consequences from the heat).

Tulgram Coldforge |

Tulgram goes around the corner and pulls out a needle gun, knowing what his biohacks help to remove the burning effects. It remains only for the comrades to get out of the fiery trap as soon as possible.

Xylian Xuuvats |

Xylian moves out of the room, taking cover on the corner opposite Tulgram. "Hopefully the entities do not follow."
Double move!

Zharis |

If I can, I am going to step up to the entrance, then trigger my jump jets to fly over the swarming mass of bad guys and through the firewall... hoping that my armor will protect me enough to survive that. Let me know if I see anything that makes me think that is extra foolhardy though. Happy to roll an intelligence check. If I go through the entry in front of me and diagonal across the space I think I have enough distance.
Zharis tells her camera drone to zoom out to catch this one, then she sprints for the doorway and flies over the bad guys and straight into the fire, hoping to find out what is beyond.

GM Jhaeman |

Zharis lives a stunt-performer's dream, flying just out of reach of a mass of flaming undead and through a wall of fire! She lands on a balcony that's about 10' above the floor of the wider templelike area below it. A stone railing 3’ high edges the balcony, and from the central point along this railing rises a stone lectern.
A sphere of darkness about a foot across, impenetrable even to darkvision, floats just in front of the lectern, about a dozen feet above the lower floor. An apparition of ash and embers, like swirling cinders rippling around a heart of brighter flame hovers at the lectern; it wails strange, disturbingly uncanny hymns!
Awesome!
The creature floating here is a pyric wraith like the others you've fought in Ezorod. I've put a pic to the side of the map and will add it to Initiative for Round 3.
Initiative (wraith): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22

GM Jhaeman |

The mass of flaming undead continue their relentless advance, and beams of energy strike out toward Hani and Jin!
The mass of undead move 5' to the west.
Beams target Hani and Jin (who gets cover from the pillar).
The attack against Hani misses, but Jin gets hit for 6 F (bypassing fire resistance).
Pyric Bolt vs Hani EAC: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Pyric Bolt vs Jin w/ cover EAC: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22

Jin, you take 4 F from your burning condition (bypassing fire resistance). At the end of your turn, you can attempt a DC 13 Fortitude save to get rid of it.

Camping weekend--back in 48!
burning: 1d4 ⇒ 4

Jin Goei |

Jin double moves outside the room.
Fortitude DC 13: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21

Hani Makoa |

Hani rushes back through the door, heading for the second set of doors.
Is the second doorway (near Hani's new position) open? If not, he'll attempt to open the door at the end of his movement. Using a double move.

GM Jhaeman |

Jin and Hani manage to escape as well, but up on the balcony, the floating apparition of flame and embers reaches out it burning skeletal hand towards Zharis! Fortunately, the pahtra is able to duck out of its grasp.
The wraith attacks Zharis. Result: The attack misses.
@Hani: Yes, all the doors are open.
Pyric Touch: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (4) + 16 = 20

Zharis |

Glancing around, Zharis concludes that what she needs must be within the area of darkness since there doesn't seem to be any other obvious goal or puzzle here. Since she can't see into it even with her suit radiating light and her darkvision, she hopes it isn't a trap, but she couldn't afford to get into a fight here. She had to try to make it quick and get back to the party before they suicided by wading into the swarm of evil.
She braces herself for another attack and reaches into the darkness, feeling around to hopefully find the third key that they are looking for.
Let me know if I am misreading the situation, and there is some kind of boundary layer to the sphere of darkness. I know I am risking an AOO here, but my character is willing to take a hit in order to get the prize and still have a chance to escape quickly.

Xylian Xuuvats |

Xylian steps back around the corner and deploys his fire extinguisher against the spooky fire wall.
"Hurry, Zharis."
Fire Extinguisher the... fire?

Tulgram Coldforge |

At first I thought that the sphere of darkness would turn out to be the sphere of annihilation )
I suggest we wait for Zaris back and protect her here, and not climb over the wall of the fiery undead. Tulgram puts the gun away, takes the battle pole in two hands and moves.
If I got up so that it burns me, I will get up a little further back.

Zharis |

Ha ha. I didn't think of a sphere of annihilation. I am certainly glad it wasn't that. :)

Hani Makoa |

Hani activates his energy shield. "Powering up, I think we're going to have trouble for while if whatever's up there with Z follows her back down."
Hani flexes his power glove, preparing for trouble.
Standard action to activate energy shield. Move as shown.

GM Jhaeman |

Up on the balcony, the guardian of the sphere rages and tries to stop Zharis from escaping!
The wraith does a full attack. Result: Both attacks hit. Zharis, you take 10 F and 11 F (bypassing fire resistance). Please attempt two DC 14 Fortitude saves vs a curse effect. If you fail either one, you have the burning 2d4 condition.

Full-Auto attack. I dunno if the individual ghosts... are, so, to save time, I'll just roll 10 attacks to empty the mag, and our lovely GM can adjudicate them as they please.

Fort Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Fort Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Fail, took 4 fire damage.
Zharis had been wondering if some of the challenge here was just an illusion, since flying through the wall of fire hadn't seemed to scorch her at all, but being savaged by this creature causes some truly authentic pain, and she tries to get away from it... not without making sure the camera gets some good footage though. Illusion or not, this was going to be some fine drama, if she could live through it.
With the flame jewel/ornament in hand, Zharis triggers her jump jets again to fly back to her friends.
Fort Save (trying to end the condition): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
That should overcome the being on fire part then, unless failing double means that I have the condition twice or something... not sure how it works. Also, let me know if I get savaged by an AOO on the way out.
When she lands, uncharacteristically untidy with her fur matted with blood, she shows the jewel to the others.
Got it. Sorry for the delay. I was being savaged by one of those things... let's get out of here to a place I can rest a bit.

Xylian opens fire on the thick mass of undead, draining his hailcannon dry but making a sizable dent! Meanwhile, Zharis activates her jump jets to escape the balcony and the wraith, jewel in hand!
@Xylian: It looks like your weapon would get 7 shots before running out of ammo, and three of them hit. The mass is still intact, but only just barely.
Zharis, you get hit by an AoO from the wraith and take 14 F, but you make it back safely (and dramatically!) to the others.
Tulgram is up.
AoO vs Zharis EAC: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (12) + 16 = 28
damage: 2d4 + 6 ⇒ (4, 4) + 6 = 14

Zharis |

Can I trigger that "Glow of Life" Stellar revelation now? [As a move action, you can spend 1 Resolve Point to recover a number of Hit Points equal to twice your solarian level]" ... not down by that many, but that would heal up my hit points to max, so I could be back to full strength with a short rest.

Zharis |

Zharis heals from her injuries. (hit points only)

Tulgram Coldforge |

Is everything right on the map? Zaris flew vertically upwards but did not approach us yet? Oh, I'm sorry that I delayed, I thought she would be closer and the fiery ghost would chase after her.
Tulgram is preparing to beat (in principle, any enemy, but first of all the one who will chase after Zharis).
READY ACTION: Merciful Capture Pole: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 271d8 + 15 ⇒ (6) + 15 = 21 (piercing vs KAC)

Jin hurls his singing disk again, and it tears havocs through the ranks of burning undead! Only a pair of the skeletal creatures remain, but they seem distracted by singing the strange, unnerving hymns!
Jin's attack destroys the mass. Two individual pyric revenants are left, but they do not seem actively engaged in combat (for now).
Hani is up.

Hani Makoa |

Hani says it's time to go. "Let's blow this popsicle stand. Time to get while the gettin's good."
Hani will follow everyone out of this area if that is the decision.

GM Jhaeman |

Having obtained what they came for, the expedition team is able to retreat to safety!
Each of the creatures has specific Morale statements saying they do not pursue creatures who have escaped the chamber, so we will go off Initiative (unless you choose to keep fighting) and you're able to move yourselves back to the central chamber (or wherever else you'd like to be).

Zharis |

Once they get to the central chamber, Zharis takes a 10-minute rest, handing the key she retrieved to whoever wants it before sinking down to the floor, exhausted.

That was brave, girl. Stupid but brave. Tulgram grumbles something under his breath in an old man's way. It is not difficult to understand that behind this grumbling lies pride in the comrade and concern for her life.

Zharis |

Honestly, it seemed like the only option at the time. I had no idea we could even fight that writhing mass of whatever it was. Jin was amazing. But anyway, I just flew over it because I couldn't think of any other way to solve the problem.

Xylian Xuuvats |

"I was investigating a way through, but it does not matter now." Xylian reloads his cannon. "Shall we insert the last key, or wait until tomorrow?"
I guess one upside of not having any casters is we're not really limited by daily resources...

Tulgram Coldforge |

I don't see the point in postponing.
