Howdy all, I'm looking forward to this group. We look pretty balanced and powerful.
Does anyone like/want to get the Enlarge Person spell on them?
Syllyn
|
Sure, Syllyn would be happy receiving that spell.
| GM supervillan |
Waiting on Makras to check in, and also for my Ghenett Manor Gauntlet game (that Grunjar is in) to finish before we begin here.
Apologies for the delay.
Makras Vekker
|
Sorry for delay! I lost track of the game because I didn't know which PCs were being selected.
Malaz Bourreau
|
I would also love the Enlarge Person. It aligns with my build pretty well.

Hey SV, were you saying that they nerfed Potion Glutton? The goal was to have several potions of Enlarge Person in a Handy Haversack.
In a round, the plan was to pull a potion as a move, drink as a swift and still have a standard action to do a thing (buff, attack, activate a power).
Will that not work? Planning for 7th level, ostensibly at the end of this scenario.
Syllyn
|
Keep in mind that even if it is a swift to consume the potion, the potion would take a turn to affect you as the spell has a long casting time.
Malaz Bourreau
|
Of course.
The original plan was always based on Enlarge kicking in at the beginning of my next round. So, essentially I could drink the potion and activate Legacy Weapon or cast Lead Blades in one round, then be big and do oodles of damage on the second round.
It would also mean being able to drink a potion of energy resistance (or what-have-you) and still have an action left. I just like the action economy...if it actually works.
| GM supervillan |
Potion Glutton got an FAQ, but mainly to stop alchemists abusing it. Here is the FAQ.
Your plan will work Malaz - although you're a native outsider so I don't think Enlarge Person works on you without some other ability or variant racial trait.
Malaz Bourreau
|
That is a wrinkle. However, but spells like Barkskin, resist energy, Protection from Evil also work as a way to 'double buff' in a single round. Malaz can fall back on the Occultist Size Alteration focus power if need be (but that is less of a priority than Legacy Weapon).
| GM supervillan |
You can go ahead and introduce yourselves to each other in Gameplay now.
It's likely to be a week or so before I finish running my NostalgiaCon table and Grunjar can join us.
John "the Antagonizer" Carlos

Thanks for the update.
John will be purchasing an Antitoxin (50g) at the start of this mission, if that is okay.
Grunjar
|
@supervillan: Would it be ok for me to post in gameplay (for introductions only)?
@party: I already love the roleplay you guys are doing there! :-D
John "the Antagonizer" Carlos
|
Not to us, we'll be drunk by then and just assume we imagined him! :D
| GM supervillan |
My Ghenett Manor party is just commencing the finale. I expect we'll be able to begin here properly next weekend.
Thanks for your patience.
| GM supervillan |
Grunjar and friends have survived the Ghenett Manor Gauntlet, so I can get us started here imminently :)
Syllyn
|
In the intro the contact was described as male. This person is female. Does that mean the jovial woman at the bar is not our contact?
| GM supervillan |
I've pm'd Grunjar - I'm reluctant to move too far ahead without hearing from our Desnan dwarf friend.
Grunjar
|
Sorry for the delay, everybody! Had a crazy busy week. :-(
Shopping:
- Wand of Endure Elements 2 PP
- Eyes of the Eagle 2,500 GP (@supervillan: please adjust Grunjar's Perception in the google doc, new bonus is +16)
- some make-up to cover up or alter the birthmark ?? GP
Spells will be adjusted today, after that I will post in gameplay.
| GM supervillan |
Call it 5gp for appropriate makeup Grunjar. That seems consistent with the pricing of disguise kits and statue disguise kits.

Thanks all for letting John take center stage here. I enjoyed it.
And props to Syllyn for the route of the request. Buying the prisoner to 'turn in ourselves to gain rep' is solid rational, well played!

No worries. It gave John time for a cigarette.

Malaz picked up a little something from that game. Well, a big something really.
Ah, but did you play snowballs with a ghostly fey? ;)

Good times, good times... :-)
Will post in gameplay today.
Syllyn

The 'flight plan' sounds good as long as
1) The area does not mess with the spell
2) We are not attacked in mid climb.
Nevertheless we should give it a try since some of us at least do not climb very well.
Makras Vekker

Really sorry to go AWOL in the middle of a scenario, but I have to travel overseas (sans computer) for the next several days. I won't be back until May 9th. GM, would you please bot me? In combat, Makras tends to just hit things with his mining pick.
| GM supervillan |
No worries Makras, thanks for letting me know.
It looks like the party has a plan now, so I'll move things along later today.
Waki Huro
|
We might need a side elevation for the map due to 3-d aspects of this combat :)
| GM supervillan |
I think everyone is at pretty much the same level now, Waki. Although Malaz is really only head and shoulders at maximum elevation, with the rest of his body below the gap and pathfinders perched on his shoulders or arms.
is there space over their heads into the hall, if someone, hypothetically (of course) wanted to drop behind them?
Yes, although it's limited. The ceiling is no more than 10 feet above the landing floor, but that's enough space to get past if you have suitable means of movement. You may provoke AoOs - if not invisible :)

I'm back, many thanks for your patience, everyone. Now I just have to get caught up on what I missed in Gameplay!

Not much…just us hanging around waiting for you :) lol
Grunjar
|
Unfortunately, Grunjar doesn't have many offensive spells memorized. There is one exception, though: Burst of Radiance
As it is a light spell, the radius is halved in here, right? (@GM supervillan)
@all: Would it be ok for you if Grunjar cast it on the blue Shae (the one in the middle)? It would affect a few party members.
A successful reflex save would just make you dazzled (instead of blinded) for 1d4 rounds.
Evil creatures get 5d4 damage, too...
Grunjar
|
PS (@GM supervillan):
Currently, Grunjar's token is in a wall. On which square of Malaz's token would it be located?
| GM supervillan |
Moved you into an open space Malaz.
Burst of Radiance will have its radius halved, and will require a Concentration check to cast (DC22) - as a spell with the Light descriptor it is impeded in the Cairn.
Makras Vekker
|
@Grunjar: No worries from Makras--he rolls with the punches (or potential blindness!).
Syllyn
|
Yea, Syllyn will chance it too if you need to get him in the area.
Waki Huro
|
Waki is invisible, and while he has a high chance of becoming blinded, it seems like too good of a spell not to try (although that concentration is tough). So feel free to include him.
Malaz Bourreau
|
Burst of Radiance? Go for it!
| GM supervillan |
Grunjar can delay his casting attempt to the end of Round 4, after Syllyn, Waki and Makras act. Or any of them can chance blindness for the potential benefit of attacking blinded shae.
Syllyn
|
Syllyn will wait. If he is blinded he will be going on defense.
Waki Huro
|
Waki was setting up for flank attacks, so his preference was to attack first. But if he is blinded it is better to be invisible- so probably moot. Just lump him in whatever is most convenient block for simplicity (and avoid meta gaming where he is not coordinating with party)
I just realized Malaz can ‘see’ Waki, even if others in party cannot.
John "the Antagonizer" Carlos

John being mostly a reach using combatant (with spells and spear), this is not an ideal setup at all for him doing anything more than a little dagger stab. He is also keeping his scroll out in case someone falls.
But hopefully we can thin the enemies out before they thin us out further.

This is a tough map for us. We had a great strategy to not get picked off one by one on our way up, but we are definitely hampered now that we are here. I would love Malaz to start swinging as his damage is all brute force, no precision.
Curse you well thought out encounter!
Curse you for running it effectively GM supervillan!
Waki Huro
|
Curse you immune to sneak and precise damage from a ninja built for both and was about to flurry!!! Lol
