Rūha lands two heavy hits, that leaves the halfling at the verge of falling. Just enough for Yambul's first swing to finish him by cutting heavily through!

The room has many boxes on the walls where there are windows with lights that show what is happening in other chambers and corridors of the complex.

Threat abated for now, Khalia turns her attention to the various windows picturing other places within the Compound. She tries to understand why some windows show rooms that look like paintings, while others seem to move in real-time.

"If we can see someone through these windows, can they also see us?"

"If they work as I imagine, probably not." Ruha answers Khalia as she examines the monitors. "This has the look of some kind of security or surveillance room. Maybe we can see where our halfling went. If this is live we may not be able to spot him directly but we'll be able to see the impact he is having."

She tries to see if she can use the monitors to find the halfling, and then whether she can get a clear map of the complex.

Rhoreen is happy to delve into the loot, passing items out as their magics reveal themselves to her, as if they could resist.

She holds up the gloves of arrow snatching to Khalia.

"These couldn't stop all your arrows, could they? Anyone want them?" Rhoreen asks, willing to strap them on until she can get a different set of gloves. I thought Rhor had already bought gloves of storing, but the thread search isn't working and can't double check, also I'm probably wrong.

She puts the scrolls into her 'sack, along with the back-up spell component's pouch.

Rhoreen waits to hear Ruha's thoughts on the monitors.

"Ayep, they might be expecting us, unless the halfling flat out fled."


Male Ratfolk (Ysoki) Pedigree, Laser Specialist Lvl 11 / Lvl 1 (Alchemist / Thief)

Zzvkgrogk studies the images on the walls to see if he can make out the invisible halfling making his way to make the alarm.

”Can you believe that jerk leaving his brother for dead?!”

If he spots the little traitor, he tries to discern which way can be taken to either avoid the warned reinforcements or overtake the heartless halfling.

You examine the monitors with Rūha's help. You see signs of the complex to be mobilized but not in actual alarm state. The rooms you see in these windows, you do understand they are underground, for they have no windows to the outside.

In one room you see a group of four sellswords, quietly resting resting. In another similar quarter, there is another sellsword armed with a vicious flail and a shield while he trains.

A larger room has three pits of bubbling pale lavender fluid smoking. There are two wicked creatures with a deadly and vicious bouquet of insectile claws sprouting from them, three-legged and multi-eyed.

K. planes DC 27:

In another room, there is a triangular-shaped table surrounded by a dozen chairs. Two gearsmen like the one you defeated on the tunnel exit are guarding the room.

In a different room, there is an almost empty platform with some robot pieces, and two metallic creatures with pincer-tipped arms, a single red eye, and an array of deadly armaments.

K. engineering DC 27*:

In a darker room, there are some pods of waters hanging on the walls, where tangles of strange plant life are growing. A short table is covered with a mound of soggy paperwork you cannot read from here.

Finally, there is another room with a platform, very similar to the other one, and two other robots of the same type.

You deduce these platforms rooms communicate one to the other, the platform is like some type of wide lift.

There are some other windows to corridors and stairs where nothing is happening right now.

You see no trace of any invisibly moving door or chair or anything, nor people alarmed or altered that would let you understand the halfling is there.

Did Ruha find a map or other indication of how these various rooms connect to one another as well as the current room?

"A fine question..." Ruha looks from monitor to monitor "Seems like we have enemies near everywhere. But none of these seem to be any kind of leadership. Or at least, I assume the League wouldn't leave its leadership up to some daemons or sellswords. Luckily the alarm has not yet been raised."

"I suspect we will need to disable those myrmidons before they can be used on the town or on us, but the sellswords and daemons may be less steadfast allies to the League and perhaps if the tide turns against the League they won't join in. Plus we have that lift. We'll likely have to go up to find the League's leaders."

When it's explained to him that the halfling fled the room, Yambul shakes his head. "Even if the little guy left the complex, it's only a matter of time before our Swath of Destruction® is detected. The complex will be on us soon enough."

"Where to next? We should move quickly. How do we get to the myrmidons? The lift? Or room by room?"

"Then we know roughly what we're up against, but can't pick and choose..." Ruha sighs through her mask "Lets make sure we have tools in reserve to deal with the demons and the robots and keep moving. If we do find the lift, it seems like it'd be sensible to take it up, but we might find other things worth investigating just by moving room by room."

She looks to the door to the north "This way first maybe?"

Several simple bunk beds line the walls of this long hall, while a few tables and chairs with dirty plates and mugs of half-consumed ale decorate the center of the room.

You see there is space here for up to 18 men, but they must be fighting in the chaos of the streets for there are only four mercenaries here and are resting.

"Who the f&*$ are you?!" they look back at you when they notice the door opening.

Skymetal Omen: The subject of this omen is jinxed with the unquantifiable nature of skymetal. When the target makes an attack or saving throw during the next 2 rounds, it must roll twice and take the worse result. A DC 23 Will save negates this effect.

Haste 1/13: You realize that you might be the unknowing recipient of some unkind thoughts from someone very much like Rhoreen if you don’t get your ass in gear and kill the people who are annoying Rhor. You get +1 to your attacks, a bit more speed, and an extra angry attack if you do such things. You know the deal: don’t disappoint Rhor.

Rhoreen notes the quick evisceration of the guards and moves to get the magical loot collected quickly, shoving things in a haversack if it will fit.

"Not bad. Of course, yam majesty, we'll want better trained guards when you take the throne. These are decidedly subpar."

”Oh, I dunno. I think it would be wise to be able to beat up one’s own guards. Don’t’cha think?” Yambul grins, and worries about beating up his own retinue.

He’ll stand watch while others search and solve the secret puzzles. Oh, and he’ll load loot into his haversack of course.

While the others check the loot, Ruha looks over the notes "Aha. These'll be useful for the people fighting the League above ground. Deployment details." She taps the notes before folding them and putting them in her pack for later.

"As for beating up your own guards, to does seem like that's an expectation here in Numeria. So you're in fine shape Yambul."

Zzvkgrogk III sighs as Yambul's chainsaw cuts through the commander's armor as if it were butter. He strolls into the commander's quarters and inspects the other suit of armor.

"If he was wearing his pajamas, this must be his war clothes -- right?"

He heads back out to inspect the northern doors.

"Anyway, these guys seem like Leaguers, not proper guards."

"I'm not sure if they were even Leaguers. Not much in the way of tech in their gear after all. More just mercenaries on their payroll." Ruha comments as she scans the room for anything hidden, including the camera that must have been set up to observe this space from the security room.

"We were quick. Lets keep that up." She heads on south to listen at the next door and see if it might lead to that room with the elevator.


Elf Huntress 13

Khalia moves to same door as Rūha, keeping sightlines on the other ways from the large room. "Do we consider all denizens of this compound sub-optimal sources of intelligence? Is Ozmyn our only prize? This is a compound, so might there be prison cells here?"

Zzvkgrogk finds the doors open into an entrance where a set of stairs climb up to the above ground levels.

On the other side of the room, Rūha finds no noise and opening discovers a storeroom.

F4. Storeroom
The shelves that line this room's walls hold food, water, inexpensive ale, blankets, and other miscellaneous supplies.

Perception DC 25:

You notice a strange thing under one of the shelves. Pushing there, the wall secretly slides into a dark corridor to the north.

"Good point Khalia. We should have asked the Mockery about that." Ruha ponders "We didn't see any rooms with cells in the security room, but maybe they have another place from which they monitor things."

"Interesting." Ruha pressed against the strange place on the wall and opens a passage northward.

"I think it's probably safe to say that if they're imprisoned here, setting them free is probably the thing to do." Yambul agrees.

”Good find Zzvkgrogk. I want to finish the floor before heading up if that makes sense to everybody. Is the door lockable until we’re ready? Can you jam it from this side so we’ll hear them coming?”

Yambul will watch that door for now so they're not surprised from behind.

Rūha follows the corridor until it reaches a dead end. But it truly is? An observant observation finds out another secret door like the one at the other side. Beyond, there is a set of stairs leading up, and a door going east.

Past the door, you hear a bubbling noise and feel an acrid smell.

Upstairs, you notice just void and empty silence.
