"Shall we wait here for a reply from the Scorpions, or return to speak to them in person?" Dai asks Niko.

Matsu Niko says, "I think we should wait here for both responses and afterwards we should go back to the Scorpions and then depending on the Emerald Champions response either go back to the capitol or help them with ironing out the details."

The inn is a typical Crab inn. It's an inn with five rooms, and room for a geisha. In case any of you decide to spend an evening's entertainment with a geisha girl. Since you are guests with the Daimyo, and on the Emperor's business, the Daimyo is providing the cost to stay at the inn. The inn's interior is bright with a lot of paintings. Mostly of cranes and crabs here and there.

It's not as beautiful as a Crane's tavern or inn, but it's certainly got it's own charm.

Matsu Niko would like to be entertained by a Geisha Boy but decides to enjoy the fare on offer at the inn and some warm sake before she goes to bed for the evening.

Dai will also spend an evening in the main room and after dinner retire to his own room.

while there are taikomochi available, the fare is sushi with some buckwheat noodles (I forgot their name), along with some hot mustard and grated daikon. It seems you both are still on business, although unwinding is allowed for travelers.

A day later, word did come. But from the Scorpion. The message reads:

We are happy to do a trade. One trade for the stream for a jade mine. We will give our Jade mine to the Crab, as long as they give their stream to us. The Scorpion. We believe the trade to be fair.

Matsu Niko writes another missive to the Emerald Champion informing him that the deal has been accepted on both sides.

She then will meet with the Daimyo to tell him the good news.

The Yasuki Daimyo was waiting for you. He looked alright in his drab, brown kimono. His hall had flags of the Yasuki mon and the Crab mon around the hall. He's been sitting at the table, where he just finished breakfast.

"So, did you get any news?" he asked.

Matsu Niko says, "I am pleased to convey to you, my Lord, that the Scorpions have agreed to the deal. We have sent another missive to the Emerald Champion and Emperor that the deal shall proceed."

"Better than a war," says the Yasuki Daimyo. "This is cause for celebration."

"We are glad to have assisted you in finding a beneficial and peaceful solution." Dai says with a bow to the Daimyo.

"Would you like to stay and feast with us?" asks the Daimyo.

Matsu Niko bows and says, "That would be a delight. My lord."

"Good, we will have a feast tonight," says the Daimyo.

Matsu Niko smiles and says, "We will see you at the appointed time, my Lord." and will leave at the appropriate time to prepare for the festivities.

She will prepare by taking a bath and then wearing one of her best kimonos to the party.

The Daimyo nods, and claps his hands. A few of his servants arrive. "Prepare a feast," he commands.

Dai bows and says, "Thank you for the invitation." He then backs out to leave the Daimyo to his tasks.

At the assigned time Matsu Niko looks her best and joins the feast.

The feast is happening on a long table, with grilled fish and sushi as the main course. Of course, there are some beef cutlets prepared by the local butchers (who are eta). There was bowls of miso soup, ready to be enjoyed. There were bowls of cooked rice prepared, and lots of sake and mirin. And of course, noodles -- fried noodles. There are plates and chopsticks, all clean and clear. The plates were made of the finest porcelain, and the cups were all made of clear glass. Then there was condiments.

Hot mustard, soy sauce, and wasabi were all at the table.

You notice a Kuni Shugenja at the party. It happens to be a he, and he's not wearing the traditional makeup to the feast. He seems to be reading a scroll. Not unusual in itself, to be sure. It seems to be an ofuda scroll, so he might be casting a spell. Which spell it is, you're not sure.
