It’s fine, that’s the door she’s going to check

GM Raven |

No trap or surprise appears to await on the door into the forge / storeroom. A small open hearth sits in the NW corner, it's coals still holding a remnant of warmth, but long past use. Nearby is a simple anvil, and across the room a large bench with various tools and projects. Several weapons and shields hang on racks along the southern wall.

Joska Ibarguren |

Joska takes the longbow on the wall and some arrows.
"I'm not much of an archer either, but it seems to be working for us down here."
"South passage now, where we took out the sentries? We'll have at least some distance we can cover in that direction without worrying too much about opposition."

Perception SE Door Room: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25 (Searching crate and room for the same)
Within the forge, such valuable armor, weaponry, and tools cannot be passed up. She will add them to the collection in hopes to hinder any who come to this region in the future and to aid their allies.
"I say we put up a collection in this main room out here of all the weaponry we find. We can then cart it back to the lake when we are done. This will aid the people there for years to come with advanced weaponry over their enemies, even if it is poorer quality. If anyone comes here, I don't want to let them have a forge or the usage of these. As for the forge itself, we should break it apart when we leave."
--
As she heads into the NE doorway, she covers her mouth with her sleeve at the foul reek that hits her like a wave.
"Ugh..." she mutters, although strangely she doesn't appear as sick to the scent as some other might be. She's smelled the offal of battle, patients, soured wounds, and infections before; not to mention bodies long since dead. This just makes her head back out of the room with hardly a gag and to close the doors.
--
As she continues to the SE doorway, she watches as Joska takes the bow therein. The medic will gather the tools to add to their growing pile of loot and will see if the crate is empty or not. At Joska's comment, she chuckles:
"I've seen the way you fight. If you are even half as good as the way you are with your combat prowess and training in melee fighting, you'll do far better than me with that."
She nods in agreement with the fighter about which direction to head next and will search out that way. South it is and down the stairwell. When she gets to the next obstacle with Callen, she will search it out.

Joska Ibarguren |

Joska smiles bashfully at Nicolette's comment, but shakes her head.
"All I know of archery is the barest of fundamentals. In formation we all occupied set positions we were specifically trained for. I was in the shield wall. Behind us, the spears. Behind them some archers, but never many of them. In a city it didn't really fit doctrine to engage at range."
"Out of formation it was all sword and shield. I haven't seen a lot of variety I guess you could say. I was a latecomer and we were mostly assigned to plug holes. Most of those holes were up front in the wall, that's where the casualties stacked up."
"Yeah, we should collect all the arms and take them back to distribute. Good idea."

Callen Shieldborn |

Callen wretches violently as Nicolette opens the door to the waste chamber. "By all that is holy, that is disgusting! Close it, damn!" The contents of his stomach splatter across the stone.
The Halfling steps back into the larger chamber to catch some air and wipe his face. Turning back, he sees Joska shoulder the quiver and bow. "Your likely more capable than you think, but I would be happy to share a few pointers when we have just a little bit more time. Just like with everything else, the pointy end goes towards your target."
When Nicolette discusses destroying the forge, Callen grimaces slightly. "Perhaps we should talk with the Chief first. Perhaps his people can occupy this as well, give them a further guard post seeing as how their tower collapsed?"

GM Raven |

Tucked beneath the bedding within the private room, Nicolette finds a long, thin silvered dagger of exceptional craftsmanship. Gold filigree traces out elven script up the center line of the blade, and the crossguard and pommel combine in a sea serpent motif.
Back in the main chamber, Amelia looks up at Meraati and Missy, tears flowing forth from her eyes. "It...it was so loud... so violent... the blood, there was so much... blood. I, I didn't mean to... kill them... I knew they could die... but, just... so much." Her weeping grows to sobbing, and she collapses against Meraati, clearly overcome by everything that has happened.
Joska scouts down the stairs, getting a clear view of the lower chamber. A narrow stream breaks the stone floor halfway across, possibly from some underground aquifer that collects from the Sullen River. Beyond that, wooden barricades have been erected, as though the traitors expected some conflict, yet bedding is visible beyond them, so the chamber clearly serves as a residence as well. In the far corner, a single door stands closed.

Missy Quickbrook |

Seeing Amelia proceed to fall apart, she left the others to do what they're doing to hurry over to her. Being short kinda makes this more awkward, but she holds the girl's hand, patting it as she sobs. "There there... Not everyone is cut out to be a warrior. In fact, it's pretty normal to freak out when seeing all of this."
Missy was used to blood thanks to her work, but even this was a bit much for her. All these people were just... dead and gone. The full ramifications of it hadn't hit her yet.

Joska Ibarguren |

Joska chuckles at Callen's comment. A bit of levity soothes the tension of their situation, which is welcome.
"That much I know Callen. It's the speed and aiming parts that trouble me. I just don't have the practice in to go through the motions without thinking through each of them."
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++=
Joska holds her position in the passage, around the corner from the large room, until everyone else catches up. While she waits she keeps an eye out for activity.

Meraati |

At Amelia's emotional breakdown, Meraati holds her in her arms, stroking her hair with one hand, as Missy comes to console the weeping girl.
She adds to Missy's words.
"She is right, Amelia. Awful as it is, we must see this voyage through, to see the clear skies again. And we're here for you, to talk to and listen to you."
Meraati nods as thanks, with a slight smile, at Missy's consoling of Amelia.

Nicolette gasps as she finds the beautiful blade.
"Ys na vana..." she mutters in elven, which roughly translated would mean, "it is beautiful", a phrase some gifted in language may know, but its actual meaning is, "the stars shine their beauty". In any case, it is clear that she marvels at it and then turns it to read the inscription.
"In duty, there is honor." She looks to those around her. "This doesn't belong in a pile. It surely belonged to a hero of old. Possibly very old..."
If no one else will claim it, the medic will hold it to her chest for a moment carefully and then will gently give it a new home in her dagger's place.

As she returns to the main room, she can hear Amelia crying. Nicolette follows suit with Missy as sympathy takes over. She will go administer some affection and closeness as well to the child
"I know it's scary, and we'd have you return, but it probably isn't safe to go alone. Just try to be brave and follow us. There will be more hardship ahead, but you are a strong girl. Think of your family and their faith in you."

Down the stairs, she progresses across the stream carefully, expecting traps, and then to the doorway beyond.

Kevin waits with Joska and when they are all ready he will take his place in the doorway waiting for someone to open it. "When we are ready I'll be first through the door. You can take the next one Joska. We'll just need someone to open it."

Callen Shieldborn |

Callen comes out of the workshop and sees the emotional state that Amelia is still in. He sighs softly, slowly shaking his head. "War is horror, too many suffer wounds that cannot be seen. Poor girl," he whispers up to Nicolette.
Walking towards Joska and Kevin as they prepare to move down, he continues to speak quieter than normal. "The lass will need to be watched and protected, I doubt she will recover before today's conflict is over."
Callen looks to Missy as they gather outside the door in the lower chamber. "Missy, you seem to be able to handle yourself in harm's way. Think you could get the door, so Joska and Kevin can rush in, then we can follow with ranged attacks?"
I will have my bow out with an arrow knocked, and can I cast divine favor right before we open the door?

Missy Quickbrook |

"I-I can handle myself, so... Yes, I'll get the door. Just be ready to get in there you two." Walking on over to the said door, she put her hand onto the handle and waited for the signal to open the door up.

GM Raven |

Missy pulls back the oaken door, revealing a large chamber with a cluster of tables and several doorways exiting. Three copper bowls filled with glowing coals hang from the ceiling of this long, natural cavern. The braziers fill the chamber with warmth and soft orange light. Looming over the room in the far corner stands a nine foot stone statue of a gauntly-muscled, bull-headed humanoid, wielding a massive polearm in one hand and a magical flame burns brightly in the other. An enormous bloodstain, maybe a week old, darkens the stone's surface before the statue.
This is a clear depiction of Baphomet.
Gathered around the tables are several underfolk traitors, accompanied by two individuals dressed as knightly servants of Iomedae. Like the others discovered in the tunnels beyond Neathholm, you can guess that these are similarly agents of darkness.

Nicolette Yardley |

Nicolette separates herself from Amelia and comments quietly out of her hearing to Callen, "I can't relate. I was almost born in it. It's all I know. Really, I feel the most uncomfortable in quiet places with no one around. I suppose I'm a bit too desensitized to the violence of this world to be shocked by it anymore. What does that make me?"
In her eyes, it is clear that she wishes she was innocent enough to take offense to such a sight, but is so detached from such things if she didn't fake it, she'd probably seem quite cold and uncaring. All in all, she seemed to have compassion for her companion at the very least.
With Callen explaining the plan for the door, she pulls some needles once more and readies herself behind those of more melee focus. When she has finished checking the door, she gives Missy a nod. The door opens and she will move in after her.
I shifted her 5ft. She would have been in sight of the doorway and hall.
Upon seeing the men dressed as priests of Iomadae at the end of the long hall, she growls and casts a spell. She can't tell, but from the expanse of the room beyond, and the shuffling and voices inside, she can guess there are some numbers inside.
After a quick prayer, her body seems to have a shimmer to it.

Callen Shieldborn |

Callen waits with anticipation for the door to swing wide. He raises his bow and draws the string as Missy puts her hands on the door, predicting where a target might be. It is clear any within this place are in league with the dark powers of the Worldwound, an diy is his solemn duty to end their fight against the good people of the world. As soon as his eyes find a target, he let's fly his arrow.

Missy Quickbrook |

Missy, not exactly having a lot of time to work within the surprise they have, raises her shield hand. Tucked away behind it was her holy symbol, and she spoke a simple chant. "May we be lucky." A simple spell, giving a blessing to everyone close to her.
Just casting Bless on the party.

With them utilizing the glaive in melee instead of at reach, are they getting a penalty, are they staying at a distance, or do they have some proficiency to allow them to attack in melee? Just curious and also want to know if I'm threatened if I move up into the 10ft range.
With great swiftness, Nicolette hurls her projectile toward the face region of her target. Typically, she aims for the chest, but being imbued with so many boons from her companions, including Meerati's interesting tale, she feels she can't miss!

With the ballade going, Meraati moves into the corridor slightly.

Nicolette, thank you, I totally blanked on reach as I was moving their tokens. They are now correctly positioned. Meraati, I am redirecting your intimidate to the visible cultist, as Nicolette's needle will kill the mongrel wounded by Callen in the surprise round.
Nicolette's needle strikes the mongrel traitor behind the table, coming in a few inches above Callen's arrow and catching it square in the throat. With a gurgle it stumbles back even as it tries to stand and falls dead.
Meraati leans forward even as she lends her voice to the ballad. Altering her tone and volume, she locks eyes with the templar bearing down on Joska, whose will is clearly shaken by the bold songstress.
Callen, Kevin, Joska, & Missy, you are all up! You currently have Inspire Courage from Meraati, and Bless from Missy!

Callen Shieldborn |

Callen will move up behind Meraati, taking aim through his allies at the cultist who is bearing down on Joska. 'Wearing the tabards of my fallen brethren... these heretics will pay.' He utters the oath so silently, it is little more than a thought.

Joska quickly closes in on one of the disguised visitors, planning to turn their glaive's advantage of reach against them. She chops with her sword then pushes in tight against them for a shield hit.

Missy, it states in the Aid Another combat action that "you have to be able to attack the target in melee" in order to grant your ally the benefit. You still had 10 feet of movement, so I have adjusted your positioning to be able to use the ability. If this does not meet your character's desired action, we can retcon and move her back.
Callen carefully aims a shot through his comrades, striking the templar fighting Joska in the chest. Joska uses the moment to surge forward, rebuffing the man with her sword then punching hard with her shield. Callen hit, Joska's shield hit

Joska only needs to turn to her right to engage the last mongrel. She leads with her sword as she makes the pivot. It ends with a roundhouse using the edge of her shield.

Nicolette Yardley |

Nicolette pokes her head out of the darkness for a moment to observe what lies before her. Callen, thankfully, finished the mongrel's advance, giving them a chance to flank.
As quickly as she can, she rushes over to flank with Kevin. As she moves, her hands pull out her nice new elven dagger and she leaps into the back of the mongrel attempting to hit him.

Callen Shieldborn |

With fortune, and Iomedae's Will on their side, a brief feeling of elation comes over Callen as they close on the last few foes. Drawing another arrow, he fires at the mongrel at Kevin's back.

Leaning out of the way of yet another strike from the mongrel, she grit her teeth and swung her mace out again. It was a sloppy strike, but she swung all the same. The longer they were caught up here, the more time was wasted getting to the surface."Just... Go down!"

Nicolette rushes in, surrounding the underfolk traitor towering over Missy. With Kevin at it's back, the creature is ill-prepared to be surrounded, and fails to get it's guard up in time to defend the thin elven blade pierces his lung, stealing his last vestiges of life after Missy's earlier wound. Moving up, she thrusts out into the feral warrior's kidney, even as Kevin cleaves down from the front into his shoulder and neck. With a howl, he collapses in a gory heap! Both Critical - DEAD!!

END OF COMBAT

You each take a deep breath and check as you find yourselves standing at the end of the furious conflict, with the two templars, a host of underfolk traitors, and one of their elite, all defeated!

Joska Ibarguren |

Joska looks all around before she lowers her weapon and relaxes.
Still so far so good... At least as far as we know.
"It would be good to know why these two groups are cooperating. What is the aim? Let's make sure to gather any documents or anything else that might give us some clues."
Joska helps with the body and room search.

Callen Shieldborn |

Callen takes a deep breath and looks about the battlefield, glancing at his allies, "everyone alright?"
He glances at the several doors around the chamber, trying to make sense of their purpose. He moves towards the south end of the room, also looking over the two weapon racks (I think?), then up to the giant bullheaded statue. He also looks over its base, to determine whether it is attached to the floor or freestanding.
(Perception): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30
Stepping back, he turns to Joska. Pointing up at the statue with a condemning gaze, "That bastard is why. Back in the other village, the chief said some members of their tribe had fallen from their old faith, had turned to darkness. Given the similar amulet we found on those dead false knights back in the tunnels, this would seem to be the answer. Faith can touch the unlikely, and bring together those from very different backgrounds. Not many would expect one of my kind to be found on the front lines, bearing the banner of the Inheritor... Yet here I am. Is this so different?"
