With his swim speed, it looks like Brakkik doesn't need to make Swim checks unless the water is stormy. So move to get back onto the steps, then throw. If the bomb hits, Brakkik can exclude his allies with Precise bombs - but if it misses, everyone within 5 ft needs to make the Reflex save against the splash damage.

No special attacks to speak of – though you have heard Cecaelias are skilled grapplers.

Once per hour as a standard action, a cecaelia can emit a 10-foot-radius sphere of ink while underwater. This ink cloud provides total concealment and persists for 1 minute.

After an unscheduled dunk, the Water Ratfolk monkey fishes back to the stairs. Unfortunately his bomb misses its target, bouncing back to land near Brakkik’s hind paws.

While Freddy remains water breathing 5’ below the surface, Raelene guides Pars to the staircase. The inquisitive mastiff sniffs the Sea Witch’s body thoroughly, before barking at Xiao Junior to finish up his swim and rejoin him.

Inside the oval room, you find tributes to the Sea Witch. Among the assorted coins and trinkets are a pearl in a shucked oyster shell, a four carat aquamarine and a silver statuette of a rook.

At about the same time, Raelene feels the Infernal Incantation *FLASH* with the fire of hell within her haversack.

Aldar muses as he watches the interaction, "Hopefully fusing the two will erase them from our world. Leave the divine to the outer planes, not ours."

Aldar then contemplates taking a trip to Rahadoum after this experience. While Raelene's magic and healing prove to be beneficial, there are clearly costs to such magic existing in this world, and directly in front of him is evidence of such costs.

Suddenly the side of his face begins itching and he looks over to see Brakkik's whiskers protruding into his face! He backs away and rubs his face vigorously.

Watching the group hesitate, Aldar offers to take the Hellish text from Raelene. Assuming she hands it over, Aldar takes the text and tries to place it on top of the holy text.


Raelene protects her hands with a scarf as she hands the smoking Infernal Incantation to Aldar.

As the brave Brother places the two books together, he finds that the grooves and tabs in each spine fit together perfectly. As the two covers touch, the twin tomes align themselves and a *bright* band of *light* dances across the seam at the border of Dark + Light, before fading quickly.

With the Song and Incantation now securely linked, the smoke and *sparks* from the latter dissipate quickly.

There remains the matter of how to get out of the flooded chamber back into the Gillfolk tunnels.

You find nothing within the Sea Witch’s lair looks like it will help with this task.

Aldar looks around for another chain in this room or anything to interact with. Finding nothing surprises him, and he has little idea what to do next, "If we don't see a way to drain the water, maybe we have to flood the entire chamber?"

Keep pulling chains until the water overflows? It's a risk, but I'm not sure what else to do. Either we live and get a way out, or we all drown and die, simple really.

"Sarenrae is silent on this matter, or I am not listening close enough," Raelene sighs.

Aladar shakes his head, "No, but I'll pull the lowest number chain to see what happens next. At worst, our feet get wet. At best, the water recedes by the same amount as that chain caused it to rise." he then turns to Raelene, "From my experience, you'll find the gods the quietest when you need them the most. They give you your spells and guidance in the morning, then cast you aside to deal with your own problems."

With that, Aldar dives down and pulls the 3 (+) chain.


When Aldar pulls the chain marked ‘+’ a number of things happen.

Aldar:
You can feel the water flowing into the sealed chamber at the rate you would expect, before the ‘+’ slab rolls back into the sealed position six seconds later.

You also notice heavy rain making contact with the water surface, about 33 feet above you.

Please make some DC 10 swim checks if you want to do something in the water. Taking 10 is OK.

Raelene, Cade and Ferdrin:
The metal door to the Sea Witch’s shrine *SLAMS* shut, sealing you all inside.

Firstly, the oval room’s metal door *SLAMS* shut, leaving you separated from the others!

With Pars trapped inside the Sea Witch’s oval lair, he is shielded from the activity taking place outside.

As Aldar moves onto the stairs to discuss the party’s next move with Brakkik and Xiao Junior, a grinding sound is heard in the direction of the chamber’s entrance. At the same time, the metal door to the oval shrine springs open allowing a Pathfinder reunion!

No need to spoiler your dialogue anymore.

The water level falls rapidly until you can see the slabs blocking the exit have been lifted out of the way. Shortly afterward, any water remaining in the chamber escapes out through the Gillfolk tunnels, exposing the floor thirty feet below you … and an open portal back into the main tunnel, and up to the surface!

Ferdrin stops his frantic searching for controls when the water level drops again, and he sees the slabs have been raised. However, instead of relief he seems to be burdened by a consistent confusion.

He turns to Aldar. What did you push... or pull? Don't touch anything else!

He waits for several moments to see if the water or slabs are going to move any more.


While Ferdrin worries, the slabs remain stationary, and the water remains drained from the chamber.

Knowledge (local or history) DC 10:
You recall the Gillfolk merchant’s warning about the tunnels flooding by dawn, and suspect you will need to make a move soon if you want to beat the rising tide.
