Leaving Chez Gill and making your way through the streets towards Gilltown, the dinner rush is clearly over as the next phase of the Eastgate district’s busy nightlife ramps up.
Hundreds of locals are on the streets, moving from the residential neighborhoods towards places of business and leisure. In the distance the sounds of chattering voices, stamping feet, and even the occasional cry of traveling elephants breaks through the din.
Xiao Junior asks a young couple holding hands whether they’ve heard any news about Gilltown and Ollysta Zadrian.
“Yeah, yeah. Ollysta Whats’erface ... I know her! She’s that dozy do-gooder been buying up any bit o’ junk with an evil cantrip attached to it. She’s been spotted gettin' ripped off all over Eastgate!”
“She was in mah brother’s ‘hood last week and I’ve heard Gilltown right now. Doesn’t seem ta be a pattern to her wanderings.”
His boyfriend adds “There’s a new Crime Lord here in Eastgate. Supposedly a recent arrival from Tien Shore. Gillfolk call him the ‘Sea Witch.’”
“My uncle says he’s seen him. But Unc likes a wee dram, see? Reckons the guy’s a monster – literally. Like with fish eyes, fangs, bat-wings and tentacles. Breathes water and lives somewhere deep in the flooded bit o' the Gillfolk tunnels. That’s why none o’ his rivals have been able to knock him off, see?”
⛔
The noise recedes into the background as Xiao Junior directs the group down a side-street.
Yargos Gill glances at the bent street-sign as the party hustles past. “Ledford Way.”
