Errr.. Is it dead or not? I've heard trolls are hard to kill, but it's the first time I see one. And it's scary!

GM: what kind of Knowledge is needed to ID a troll?

The troll is injured but alive. Knowledge Local to identify.

Desynthia looks around for other dangers, but does not detect any.

"Great Nethys! A troll?!" Korgaar swallows, uncertain. His hand grips his hammer tightly.

"That's a dangerous brute of a creature" the wizard advises - he trained for years as a young dwarf to dodge under the attacks of trolls and other giants. "But it didn't put itself up there and that means there's something worse hereabouts. Nothing for it. I'll have to talk to it."

Korgaar tucks his hammer back in its belt loop and takes a step towards the troll. He speaks to the troll in its own language.

"Herra Tröll. Ég er töframaðurinn Korgaar. Þú munt segja mér hvernig þú varðst til á þessum stað; hvað gerðist hér? Hver eða hvað hefur gert þér þetta?"

Giant (language):
"Mr Troll. I am the wizard Korgaar. You will tell me how you came to be in this place; what happened here? Who or what has done this to you?"

The troll babbles something nearly incoherent in the middle of it’s painful wail.

Menn pynta og éta mig! Ég á að vera sá sem borðar, ekki máltíðin! Hjálpaðu mér og ég mun ekki borða þig í dag!

Giant:
”Humans torture and eat me! I'm supposed to be the one eating, not the meal! Help me and I will not eat you today!”

Note that the actual word is very general and would include elf, orc, or most anything else that is medium sized and looks humanoid. Giants (especially trolls) are not very precise about such things.

Red Reverend:
You notice a medium humanoid creature hiding in the fissure to the north-east.

You can have a surprise round as they think they are hidden.

If you want to give everyone on your side a chance at a surprise round, it would take a Bluff check to send a secret message. You would be pressed for time, so no taking 10.

Green creature: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Yellow creature: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12

Currently the two creatures are hidden. If you haven’t seen them yet, it requires a successful Perception check as a move action to locate them. If someone points (like Red did with Yellow) you know which square they are in but they have total concealment.

Surprise Round:

Bolded May act. Only a move or standard action in the surprise round.

Religion to identify the creatures. You need to see them to identify them. Each would require a separate check.

The troll is above the alter and bloody floor. Moving in those squares requires a DC 10 Acrobatics check in order to run or charge in this area. If a creature fails this check by 5 or more, it falls prone.

The troll has one arm bound by rope and is hanging from a chain. You can attempt to push the troll so it swings from the chain with a CMB attack to do a Bull Rush. You can also attempt to break the rope, cut the rope, or cut the chain. The chain is too thick and sturdy to break.

Grand Lodge

male human fighter 6, HP 58(70), AC 23; T 14; FF 19 F +7, R +6, W +5, Init. +8(+11), Perc. +8

Theron grabs his morningstar in two hands and tries to break the chain.

attack: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (20) + 7 - 1 = 261d8 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 3 = 12
2 handed and power attack

crit: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 7 - 1 = 221d8 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 6 + 3 = 13

Unfortunately you can not crit an object like the chain.

Theron manages to damage the chain the troll is hanging from.

Round 2:

Bolded May act.

Religion to identify the remaining creature.

The troll is above the alter and bloody floor. Moving in those squares requires a DC 10 Acrobatics check in order to run or charge in this area. If a creature fails this check by 5 or more, it falls prone.

The troll has one arm free and is hanging from a chain. You can attempt to push the troll so it swings from the chain with a CMB attack to do a Bull Rush. You can also attempt to cut the chain. The chain is too thick and sturdy to break.

i can dream, can't I? wasn't sure about the ruling...since it's an attack roll...oh well...wasted a 20...fml...lol

Keynala stabs with her trident, then follows up with a shield smash. Although the triden missed, the shield smashed into the side of the creature’s face.

Meanwhile, Desynthia puts as much distance as possible between the wounded troll and herself

Colleen squeezes herself into the fissure that the first creature was hiding in.

Desynthia has her eagle attack. In a flurry of feathers, beak and claw it finds it completely failed to hit the creature. She then moves to the other side of the troll.

The troll is considered to be in all four bloody squares. It is only because it is hanging upside down that Theron can be in the same space as one of those squares.

Green says “I am Arenzo Davian, and I would like to thank you all for coming here. I look forward to eating human again. Troll meat may be never ending, but most of you look quite tasty! It hasn’t been since the Hellknight siege that I’ve had such a selection!

Having done his villain monologue, he steps up and attacks Red Reverend.

The frothing dwarf looks up at the troll for a moment - but isn't willing to cut the giant down when he could deal with the cannibal Davian in the same way.

Forgot the regeneration, taking care of that now.

Arenzo heals a little bit, then Korgaar hits him for much more than he healed.

The troll reaches out and attacks with his claw, disrupting his swing. His strike is accurate, but evidently it is difficult to put your power behind an attack when swinging upside down from a chain.
