Just so you're aware, due to hardness and high HP, boats are extremely difficult to disable with anything less than a siege weapon. In this case, you're looking at hardness 5 and 120 total HP.
didn't know that, but shooting a hole in the bottom of the boat with the cannon Sounded like a good idea.
'Blasted stupid cannon.' Moving down the steps, Elek tells the prosthetic " huí dào yú chā shǒu." As the sailor swings his cutlass at him, Leaning back, Elek tries to take his anger at the cannon out on the Rahadoumi. Lunging forward thrusting with the sword, then slashing with the harpoon hand.

Round Nine
No enemies present yourselves at the moment. The battle appears to be winding down, but your mission will continue until the end. Still, it's nice to have a chance to breathe. You briefly see Captain Harrigan, gripping what appears to be a human heart in his hands.
You're slightly ahead of schedule, so enjoy the free round unless you had something you wanted to do with your actions. XD

Turning to Syl, Elek gives a wolfish grin, holding out the Estoc and the harpoon hand, "Bloody enough?" he asks, before wiping the Estoc's blade on the shirt of the sailor he just killed.
Sheathing the Estoc, he searches the sailor's body for a dagger, Holding the knife up showing it to Sandara, "I was hoping for a knife to give Jack to replace the rusty one he uses for Scrimshawing."
Tucking the dagger in his belt near the handaxe, he turns to the others, "Let's get back up on the sterncastle. The order was to take the wheel, and guard the ship's boats."
Moving up the steps he tells the prosthetic "Chéngwéi dàpào As it transitions to the cannon he moves to the wheel. Watching the sails and distance to the 'Wormwood' doing his best to keep her even with the other ship.

not sure he would have taken the time to collect all the gear, but at least the knife and pouch, will he be able to collect the other stuff later?
While taking the sailors knife, Seamus also grabbed his money pouch.
------------------
Watching how close the Wormwood was, Elek noticed the three Rahadoumi sailors making a break for the opposite boat. Pointing the cannon at them he yelled, "Sandara, Syl, Breaker, Port side!"
Realizing the one in the front was an officer, he hissed at the cannon, "You better hit this time! shèjí!" Shooting the cannon at the leader. Watching the shot hit the gunwale, Elek cursed at the cannon under his breath. "Blasted piece of Fèihuà"
Releasing the wheel, he heads towards the steps drawing the Estoc. Telling the prosthetic "huí dào yú chā shǒu. it turned to the harpoon hand as he ran.
Stopping on the steps readying to attack the officer and to distract the sailor for Syl. Point at the one to his right with the blade, "that one's yours Syl!

If this hits, you're pinned to the wall behind you. Using the cannon will require a DC 15 MSB check, and moving from your current square will require a DC 17 CMB check. For reference, this is Pinning Impale from the Lancer sphere. XD
Round Eleven (your turn)
Your companions engage the other two sailors.

Nimbly dodging the extending pike, Elek, steps forward, estoc poised, "Nice weapon, you showed me yours, let me show you mine." Lifting the cursed harpoon hand where she could see it, he commands it in Tien: "Tiānjiā fǎshù diǎn! Néngliàng dǎjí! Kuángcháo!" He gives a wolfish smile and slashes downward at the Rahadoumi officer with the cursed light eating harpoon hand.

Officer is considered flanked. For reference, Sandara has a few Illusion talents. XD
Round Twelve
Your turn
Elek Kardforgató
Striking the gunwale with his prosthetic, Elek see's the woman's boarding pike shooting at him. Just as it nears his chest, he see's it hit a phantom image of himself. Realizing Sandara just saved his life, Elek gives her a quick nod. 'When we get to port I'm going to need to buy her a nice dinner in a fancy restaurant.' Jerking his harpoon hand from the gunwale, he see's the ominous shape the other side of the officer draw her attention. "Guess I'll have to do this the old fashion way." Thrusting towards her shoulder with the estoc, he then slashes at her hip with the harpoon hand. Telling her, "surrender!"

The wound to the officer's arm causes her to drop her weapon, and the wound to her hip severely limits her mobility. She slowly raises her uninjured arm and gingerly sits down. Shortly thereafter, the battle ends with the Wormwood victorious.

Once the Man's Promise has been thoroughly looted and all prisoners have been chained up belowdecks, it's time to divvy up the plunder and celebrate your victory.

Nodding as the Rahadoumi officer drops the boarding pike, Seamus keeps his blade on her, while he kicks the boarding pike away, Telling the prosthetic, "Chéngwéi dàpào" As the harpoon hand changes to the cannon, Elek sheaths the Estoc pointing the cannon at her. Hoping the woman doesn't try anything, because his faith in the cannon has been seriously damaged.
Looking up at Breaker, he gives a wolfish grin. "You fought well." He gestures towards the battle scarred deck. "does this help convince you a pirates life isn't so bad?"
influence: 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 13 + 2 = 18
------------------------
As the prisoners are led off and he and Breaker finish their conversation, Elek turns to Sandara, "that was some interesting magic you pulled back there. Once again I am in your debt." Pausing he cocked his head and gave her a sly grin. "Just out of curiosity, If I happened to find some stuff, could you tell if it's magical?"
----------------------
After the ship and it's crew are secured, and the plunder is passed out, Elek finds Jack. Handing the boy the knife he took from the sailor. "Hey Jack I thought you might like a different knife to do your scrimshaw with."
----------------------
The next thirty six hours became a haze, of drinking and sleeping and eating and more drinking. Before he got too far into the debauchery Elek approached Aretta Bansion, lifting his cup of rum to her. "Ms Bansion I am in your debt. You were totally right, "Slippery" Syl was able to help me locate the 'lost' item, Thank you for your assistance."

Moving through the crew, he found the dwarf Tam, sitting down besides the man, he gestures with the cup. "So Tam, what part in the attack did you play?" He then listened intently as the dwarf described his part in the battle. Hoping that listening to the man’s tales might endear himself to the dwarf.
Yeah I got nothing for Tam so going with 'listening'
influence: 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 13 + 2 = 16

Staying fairly sober Elek approached Maheem, sitting beside him, asking, "So Maheem, which part of Garund are you from? I sailed around the southern tip on a junk, coming back home. Maybe I've heard of it."
influence: 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 13 + 2 = 29

Before he headed to bed, Elek decided to try his hand at dice with Badger again. Finding her dice game, he pulled out the pouch he had taken from the dead soldier. Emptying it out, he counted the coins. Setting them on the barrel Badger was playing on. "Hey Badger, I think I'm ready to learn a new dice game." As they gambled he asked her. "So where were you during the fighting?"
again running out of good ideas for conversation. It must be time to go too bed

As Elek heads below decks to bed, he approaches Grok. "Hey Grok, when I was clearing out the bilges from rats, I found some stuff, armor, weapons and such. Would you be interested in buying it for your inventory?"
Your Benevolent Dictator
Breaker shrugs. "Boat life is awful, but the fightin's pretty good."
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sandara smiles. "Perhaps you'll get the opportunity to return the favor in the future. Besmara's fortune can be quite fickle, after all. I can identify magical items, but don't ask me to make you anything. I'm no crafter."
------------------------------------------------------------------------
To your surprise, Aretta glares at you. "That's 'cause she stole it from me, you jerk! You were supposed to get her in trouble, not praise!"
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tam mostly ignores you. He tends to hang out with Master Scourge most of the time, so you're not entirely surprised. (you don't really get exposed to his material unless you're a rigger)
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The big Mwangi frowns. "I am from Vidrian. Captain Harrigan's men took me when the Free Captains attacked. Now I am here."
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Badger grins, "Of course! We're playing Castle, since we're all rich now."
Which is quite time-consuming to explain and play out via the PbP format. It simulates besieging a castle: attacker vs defender. Whoever runs out of soldiers first loses, and the winner gets a payout based on the number of survivors. You can potentially win (or lose) quite a bit of money. Let me know if you want in, and I'll crunch the numbers and play out the game in a separate post.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Grok shrugs. "Depends on what you found. If it's dirty or broken, I'm not interested. Got enough crap already, after all. If you have anything that's worth havin', I'll trade it for some of my stock."
Elek Kardforgató
Remembering how well Breaker did in the fight, Elek nods, "Well, for what it's worth you fight pretty good." He gestures towards the boat. "Life on a boat can be better, I realize that's your experience here, but trust me, there not all like this."
---------------------
Nodding too Sandara that he understood. "Neither am I." Elek gives a wide smile. "That's why I'm a pirate." He gestures towards the hatch. "Would you join me below decks, I found a bunch of stuff that I'm going to sell to Grok, but I don't want to 'give it away.' I don't think any of it is magical, but if you wouldn't mind checking I'd appreciate it." While the talk he begins to head below decks to his birth. Opening the chest he sets the masterwork handaxe on top. "That's what I found. Think any of it's worth noting?"
-------------------
Laughing aloud, 'I wonder if that's the only reason she hates her.' Seamus pulls out his pouch. "So your mad because someone stole it from Tibbs and you stole it from them and Syl stole it from you." Still smiling, "Well I guess that proves were all pirates. I had no desire to get anyone in trouble, not the way they enjoy lashing lubbers, and I doubt if Plugg would do anything to her anyway." He shrugs still smiling. "But I did want to get Tibbs her grapple cannon back. And it's good we did, she saved the life of the gunners mate. I'd like to think we all played a part." Open his pouch, he asks. "Would it help if I Payed you the same as I paid her? I'd have given her double. no reason not to let you have it."
Man I was hoping that 29 would turn her around :)
---------------------
Walking away from Tam, Elek shakes his head. 'Blast what do I need to do to soften that guy up? Climb the rigging and show him I know how to tie a knot.' Looking back over his shoulder. 'Seems odd anyway, a dwarf at sea, like watching a badger try and catch a fish. Just not natural.
----------------------
Hearing Maheem say he was from Vidrian gave Elek pause. 'Vidrian, Vidrian. Ahh, isn't that what the natives call part of Sargava. Probably not a popular topic with him.' Nodding. Elek paused. "So if you had the chance would you go back?"
----------------------
Hearing the game was Castle, Elek shook his head. He didn't mind losing the ten gold pieces he took from the sailor with the knife for Jack. But in ‘Castle’ he could lose a lot more than that. Shrugging, he gives Badger a smiled. ”Too rich for my blood, I’ve gotta save my coppers.” he holds up the harpoon hand. ”I’m saving to get a manicure.” He winks then heads below decks to speak with Grok.
------------------------
Having had Sandara check the items for anything of great value, Elek tucks the Hand axe back in his belt. Taking the other items to the galley he spends a few moments cleaning them up then shows them up to Grok. Remembering Grok worked in barter, Elek tried too think about anything he might want to purchase.
Setting the suit of leather armor, three heavy maces and the buckler on the table, he says "I figure they're worth about twenty five gold pieces. What do you have to trade?” He smiles, ”Now that I have a little extra gold I can afford more than that.”
Your Benevolent Dictator
Sandara scans the indicated items before shaking her head. "It's exactly what it appears to be, I'm afraid."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your roll was fantastic, but you praised Syl in front of her. That's a big no-no. XD If you pay her, she'll improve to Indifferent, but she won't have any real loyalty to you without further interaction - or a specific bit of roleplay.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I would," Maheem responds without any hesitation. "My family lives there."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Grok looks over the items you're offering and shakes her head. "None of that's worth all that much. I've got an old disguise kit that's just taking up space. Since I've seen you spending some time with Jack, I'll throw in a dagger for you to give him, but that's the best I can do."
Alternately, she has most mundane gear worth 10gp or less. That dagger she's offering is magic, by the way. Grok has no idea.
Elek Kardforgató
Nodding in aggreement, Elek packs the stuff up, "Thanks Sandara, that's what I thought. But it doesn't hurt to double check." He lifts up the boarding pike, "Now I just have to figure out what to do with this."
-------------------------
Shaking his head at Aretta, Elek fishes out twenty gold coins handing them to her. "For what it's worth, you helped me as much as she." He cocks his head a little. "I don't understand, you both came down with Fipps. I figured you were pals. Did you just do it because Plugg ordered it? Or did you and Syl used to be friends or what?"
----------------------
Nodding, Elek understood, he would give anything to see his family again. "When we get to port, we should be able to find a boat headed to Sargava." He gestured towards the rigging, "Your a good sailor, even if you can't afford a ticket you should be able to work for your passage."
-----------------------
Frowning slightly, Elek looks at the disguise kit and the knife. Leaving the armor, buckler and maces on the table, he gestures towards the knife. "I'll give the knife to Jack, but I don't really want the disguise kit. What if I leave the other stuff with you on consignment, and if you find something really interesting, you give me first dibs on it." He pats his coin purse and then gestures around the galley. "It's not like I've got anything to spend my money on, and I'm right here outside your door."
Your Benevolent Dictator
Aretta sighs. "Used to be. Then we met Plugg. Such a powerful man - and attractive, too. But Syl felt the same way...." She trails off and walks belowdecks - presumably to sulk.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Grok shrugs. "Fine by me."
Assuming you have Sandara check it out, you'll learn it's an animal-bane dagger.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Let me know when you're ready to end the party. XD
Elek Kardforgató
Your roll was fantastic, but you praised Syl in front of her. That's a big no-no. XD If you pay her, she'll improve to Indifferent, but she won't have any real loyalty to you without further interaction - or a specific bit of roleplay.
Ok, a little house keeping, Elek paid her, the sheet still has her at that ugly orange color.
Raising an eyebrow at Aretta's confession Elek considers going after her, but he isn't sure now is the time or place. Walking away, 'A powerful man? And attractive too?' Elek turns looking across the deck at the second mate. Shaking his head, 'I don't see it.'
Chose not too go after her this time, but hard to have a conversation if she walks off. Will pick this up later.
------------------------
Accepting the knife from Grok, he admires it then adds, "I gave Jack a knife already, but I'll ask him which one he wants. I'll keep the other."
After his meeting with Grok, Elek heads to where he last saw Jack, admiring the finely make knife on the way. Seeing Jack carving with the sailors knife Elek gave him. Elek sits down beside the boy, holding the knife out. "Gurk didn't know I gave you a new knife." He hold up the knife from Gruk, then points at the sailors knife, "Don't know that you need more than one knife, you want the sailors knife I gave you or this fancy one from Gruk." He holds it out. "Which ever one you want you can have, I'll keep the other one."
Happy with this either way, he told Gruk he'd offer it to the boy, don't know that he's so greedy to have Sandara check then keep it for himself anyway. If you want pick high or low and roll a dice that's fine with me, If Jack has an actual preference based on something else that's fine too.
---------------------------
After speaking with Jack, Elek tucked the knife the boy didn't want in his belt and headed to bed.
Good to go :)

Sailor/Grok: 1d100 ⇒ 96
"That new one has a fancy handle. It looks waaaay cooler! Thanks, Mister Elek!"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
At dawn, a few hours after the celebration finally winds down, the ship's bell sounds, calling all hands on deck. A long line of captured sailors (including the officer you captured) is brought on deck and paraded before the crew. Captain Harrigan addresses the captives first, offering a place on the Wormwood's crew for any who want to throw their lot in with pirates. Several of the sailors step forward; Master Scourge cuts their bonds, and they take their places among the crew. Harrigan then turns to address all of you.
"All right, you scurvy tars! You've done a right good job by me - we've got a second ship now, and she's quite a prize from the looks of her. But I still have only one crew. So here's the plan: the Wormwood will sail on to our planned destination with our new shipmates here, while Mr. Plugg will pick a skeleton crew to sail the Man's Promise to Port Peril, where she'll be worth a pretty penny as salvage.
"As for these fine fellows here" - Harrigan gestures at the remainder of the captured ship's crew - "some of them will no doubt be worth a hefty ransom from their families back in Azir. And for the rest, if the life of a pirate's not for them, they can spend the rest of their lives at sea!"
To make his point, Harrigan grabs one of the Rahadoumi sailors and throws her overboard to the accompaniment of cheers and laughter from the Wormwood's crew. As the unfortunate woman sinks below the waves, many of the remaining sailors scramble to swear their loyalty to Harrigan. The officers are led belowdecks and the crew begins to disperse to their daily tasks.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
As you head toward the galley, Master Scourge stops you. "Pack up your things and git aboard the Man's Promise. You got ten minutes." He smiles evilly as he walks away.
Elek Kardforgató
Nodding Elek accepts the Rahadoumi blade back from Jack, Smiling he tucks it in his belt and head about his business.
------------------------
Elek isn't surprised when Captain Harrigan addresses the captives and offers them a place amongst his crew, that's what he would do. Not surprised that the captured ship would be put up for sale. Few captains had such loyalty among their officers to trust them enough too have a fleet. Actually Elek was surprised that the Captain trusted Mr. Plugg that much.
Ready to get back to work, Elek didn't expect the following show of force. Killing a sailor just to get more crew? Apparently, other than shanghaiing sailors that was the only way Harrigan and Plugg could get crew. Apparently two peas in a pod.
As he headed to the galley, Elek knew he had seen pointless deaths before and probably would again. His thought were interrupted by Master Scourge's oorder. turning, Elek nodded "Aye Master Scourge, ten minutes." Elek hurried below decks, glad that he had gotten rid of all the extra stuff in the 'cursed' chest Grok had given him. He paused long enough to take the hammock he had been sleeping in, stuffing it in the chest with his backpack, pausing he tossed the knife and the handaxe in as well.
Shouldering the Sea Chest he hustled to the galley to find 'fishguts,' When he arrived he told Ambrose, "Sorry old bean, your going to lose your "useless one-armed no good sod cook's mate" I'm on the Skeleton crew taking the captured boat to Port Peril." Elek couldn't hide his smile. Once in Port Peril, Mr. Plugg would never see him again. turning to the Quartermaster, he pointed at her. "Remeber Grok, anything interesting I get first dibs on. I'll catch up with at port!"
------------------------
After a quick good by with Ambrose and Grok, Elek heads to the Rahadoumi boat with plenty of time too spare.
Your Benevolent Dictator
As you're saying your goodbyes to Kroop, Master Scourge shoulders you out of the way. "Kroop! Cap'n says to get your drunk ass over to the Man's Promise." Kroop and Grok's reaction to getting split up so abruptly is quite sad; from what you've observed in your time aboard, they're very close friends.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once everybody's aboard the Man's Promise, the two vessels go their separate ways. You'll meet up again in Port Peril.
I've updated the Crew list (aside from a bunch of nameless, faceless Rahadoumi who aren't supposed to be Influenceable. I'll put up a map of the new ship shortly.
Elek Kardforgató
I figured all the Rahadoumi were on the Wormwood.
Surprised that the captain would give up his prize cook, granted Kroop had turned into a drunk prize cook, Seamus was sad to see the two separated, even for just this part of the journey. Setting his chest on the table he cleaned the first day he was there, he helped Kroop pack, then waited outside the galley while the old cook said goodbye to Grok.
As they headed over to the 'Mans's Promise' Elek tried to comfort his friend. "At least you'll get back to her in Port Peril. As they walked he pondered. 'Maybe I can talk them both into leaving the 'Wormwood.'
---------------------------
After stowing his gear, with a minute to spare Elek reports to the deck, awaiting orders with a lot of the crewmembers he had gotten to know.
Your Benevolent Dictator
A half-dozen are on the Man's Promise to complete the crew roster.
Plugg begins his command with a short speech. "All right, you lot. Although this is a new ship, the rules are the same. Don't think that I'm going to go easy on you just because Harrigan isn't aboard. He's been entirely too soft on you, so now's the time to get your acts together! There'll be no alcohol on this ship, and I won't have you wasting your money on games of chance. The evenings are for rest - anyone caught above decks after sundown will be punished. Speaking of punishment ... we'll be using the cat-o'-nine-tails from now on. Now get to work!"
1d100 + 1d6 ⇒ (56) + (1) = 57
You and Kroop's top priority is getting the galley in order and figuring out where to store all the food and cooking supplies. This will, by necessity, take up the majority of the day.
No skill check is required, but if you do anything other than 'Work Diligently,' you and Kroop will automatically fail. This takes the place of your free Influence attempt, but you'll still get a Daytime action (which can be used to Influence if desired) during your short lunch break.
Elek Kardforgató
Looking around the deck, Elek notices a few new faces, but mostly the pirates he had gotten to know. Listening to Plugg's speech Elek raised an eyebrow when Plugg said that Harringan was 'entirely too soft.' But choked back a chuckle. No reason to draw unwanted attention. Not surprised that Plugg would refuse alcohol and gambling, he was disappointed to hear the 'cat' would be used for normal infractions instead of heinous actions. His father had used the 'cat' occasionally instead of keelhauling.
Following Kroop to the new galley, Elek works diligently helping get the kitchen organized to Kroop's liking. Fortunately the Rahadoumi kept a clean kitchen. While they organized and unpacked Kroop's hastily gathered gear, They put water on for soup using the salted fish in the larder. Kroop flavored the soup and added more vegetables, again from the ships stocked larder. When it was time, Elek took the soup and some flat bread they found above decks to serve the crew.
Intentionally sitting beside Maheem during the meal, he handed the man a piece of flat bread, "So about 'back home' were you married? Did you leave a sweetheart behind? Any children or brothers and sisters?"

"I have a wife and two children. Elen and Zuri." The big man seems to be warming up to you. Though he's a man of few words, he clearly misses his family.
EVENING
The evening is a somber affair. Several of your friends are beaten harshly for minor infractions, and there's no rum to dull the pain. Tilly, in particular, appears to be struggling. She looks to be experiencing some pretty serious withdrawal. After dinner the the Bloody Hour, the crew retires belowdecks. Badger pulls out some dice in hopes that someone will gamble with her, but nobody seems to be in the mood.
You still get your evening actions, of course.
Elek Kardforgató
Nodding, Elek wipes out the last of the soup with his flat bread. "I'd want to get back too." He smiles, as he stuffs the bread in his mouth. "Or I'd bring 'em aboard ship. I'd bet Elen and Zuri would make quite the fine pirates." He winks, letting his friend know he's not really serious. Getting up, he nods. 'I guess not everyone else wants to be here, and that's ok. A Pirate ship should only have crew who want' to be there.'
---------------------
Frustrated that such minor infractions get the 'cat' Elek bites his tongue and bides his time. As they go below decks he notices Tilly seeming to be in rough shape. Moving next to Sandara he asks the Besmaran "Anything you can do to alleviate Tilly's withdrawals?" He smiles, "I mean, other than by putting her out of her misery?"

Seeing Breaker had bunked near him, Elek pulls up one of the three legged stools. "Impressive work in the fight Breaker, Where are you originally from?" He gestures towards the axe. "And how did you learn to use that thing?"

Once he and Breaker were done speaking he noticed Syl was by herself. Picking up his stool he went over and sat down beside her. "So how many did you kill in the fight?" He shrugged, "I think I got two and captured that woman officer." He nods towards Giffer, "Again thanks for locating Giffer's grapple cannon." He smiles slightly, looking at Aretta, "So what's up with you and Ms Bansion. I figured when you two came down the steps with Fipps you were thick as thieves. Seems that's not the case at all."

As his and Syl's conversation comes to and end, Elek remembers Giffer's cannon. Picking up his three legged stool, he returns to his sea chest taking the 'Boarding pike' he walks over to Giffer's bunk. Setting the stool down he takes a seat. Holding the Boarding Pike out so Giffer can take a look at it. {ooc](if she desires)[/ooc] He explains, "Captain Harrigan gave me this for warning him about an attack." He lifts up the hook, "I'm wondering what it would take to combine with my hook." He gestures towards the Pike. "Why don't you take a look at it. Mess with it a bit. Figure it out, and tell me what you think." He smiles. "I figure you'll enjoy messing with it enough that if anyone can sort it, that you could."

Sandara shakes her head. "Unfortunately, she'll need to work through it herself. Addiction isn't something I'm able to cure."[b]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
[b]"I'm from Lubbertown in Riddleport," the elf replies. "I like the axe because it doesn't need any fancy tricks or training. Strength is all that matters."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Syl grins. "Three. The Blood Marquis was pleased that day." In regards to your other question, she laughs. "She tried to steal my man. That's not how she sees it, of course. She may have seen him first, but I'm the better match for his appetites." She caresses her razor in an almost seductive fashion.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Giffer takes the weapon - and almost skewers you by mistake as it suddenly extends. It takes her a bit to figure out how to retract it again. "An extendo-spear! That's pretty handy! I should have the mechanics figured out by tomorrow evening. I'll need to look at that hand of yours, too. From what I've seen, it's pretty intricately-designed, and I don't want to commit to anything that's not actually possible."
Elek Kardforgató
Nodding that he understood to Sandara, "That makes sense. Probably wouldn't be any use anyway. I figure once she can drink again she will, so what would be the point."
-----------------------------
'Lubbertown? Funny, the one guy who get's really sick if from Lubbertown.' Nodding as Breaker talks about the axe, 'Probably would do just as well not to point that out to him.' When his friend was done explaining, Elek stood up, picking up his three legged stool. "well, for what it's worth, you do it well. My mother used to say, 'If you do something well keep doing it.'" Nodding to Breaker he headed away.
-----------------------------
'the 'blood Marquis'? I'll have to ask Sandara about that.' Raising an eyebrow at 'three', Elek compared mental notes from what Aretta had told him, it sounded about right. Looking from Syl's face to her razor then back to her face, Elek stood up and collected his stool. Smiling, "His appetites? I'll have to take your word for it." Nodding politely he headed to where he had noticed Giffer.
----------------------------
"That's fine Giffer, hang on to it as long as you need to." Jumping back as the thing extended. "Just don't kill anyone with it." Lifting up his harpoon hand. "Once things settle down I'll take this off and let you eyeball it." He looks around the lower deck, "But it may be a while. I'll explain more then." Picking up his three legged stool, he heads back to his bunk, and turns in.

Morning
The next morning, Plugg decides he wants "something fancy. And none of that nasty salmagundi or turtle stew. Food befitting a Captain of my stature!"
That's a DC 12 Profession (cook) or Survival + a DC 17 Profession (cook) or INT. Working Diligently will give you a +6 on the second check instead of the usual +4 thanks to Kroop's newfound sobriety. Afterwards, it's a DC 8 CON check to avoid becoming fatigued. You'll get your usual ship actions, but only after the job checks are done.
Elek Kardforgató
The book is worth 125gp, but the +1 circumstance bonus to Prof:cook checks will probably be more valuable in the long term. XD The galley itself is considered Masterwork tools and, as such, grants an additional +2 bonus.
Did we bring the book and masterwork tools with us?
'Befitting a Captain of my stature?' Keeping a straight face, Elek answers Plugg, "Aye captain Plugg." and heads to the galley. After speaking with Kroop and checking the cookbook, he grabs the fishing gear and heads above decks to try and catch something that would fit Plugg's definition.
So working diligently for this part plus the book and galley?
cook: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 1 + 2 = 14
------------------
Catching a decent sized tuna, Elek takes it back below decks. Gutting and cleaning the fish, he carefully removes the filets and then slices them evenly. Having found rice, seaweed leaves, cucumber and other spices he was familiar with from his time in Minkai. Elek looked up a recipe for Sushi in Kroop cookbook, they both set to work making sushi and Sashimi from the tuna. Preparing enough for both captain, officers and crew. Once the elegant dish was prepared Elek and Kroop took the platers above decks.
Working diligently, using the book and the galley?
cook: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 6 + 1 + 2 = 26
fatigued: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
-------------------------
While he and Kroop were serving the officers and crew the exotic tuna, Elek neared Sandara pausing to ask quietly, "Um Sandara, what do you know about someone or something called 'the Blood Marquis'? Syl mentioned it when she commented about how many sailors she killed. 'Said 'the Marquis' would be pleased."
-------------------------
After talking with Sandara a bit, Elek heads over to Aretta, offering her seconds, before he does anyone else. Leaning in speaking softly. "So how are you enjoying the 'Man's Promise'?" Nodding his head towards the officers deck. "I know you said he's handsome and powerful, but I think you better off without him."

You have the book but not the masterwork tools. The Man's Promise galley is too ill-equipped, unfortunately.
It takes a while to catch an appropriately-sized tuna, and you're barely able to finish preparing the sushi before mealtime. Plug complains about how "you're trying to make me sick by feeding me raw fish like I'm an animal" but eats everything.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
During the Bloody Hour, more of your friends are scourged for minor infractions. It seems the officers are attempting to simply beat the crew into submission.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Blood Marquis? The only being I know with that name is a Demon Lord. I think he tortures people and eats their eyes. Sounds like Syl's a follower - not that I'm surprised. Keep on your guard if you keep hanging out with her."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aretta blushes when you serve her first. "You might be right. I know of another handsome sailor onboard, after all."
Elek Kardforgató
So hit that 12 by the skin of my teeth :)
Shaking his head no. "No Captain Plugg Sushi is a Minkai delicacy, the fish is prepared in lemon juice, the acid cooks out anything that would make a man sick." Elek notes, that while Plugg complains, he still eats it all.
----------------------
Raising an eyebrow at Sandara's revelation, Elek wasn't suprised. He knew a lot of pirates were outcasts from their societies due to different beliefs or practices, odd religion, different ethnicity, failed rebelions. Many were the reasons people took up the lifestyle. But some just craved the violence. Nodding. "Careful is the word." remembering the beatings he asks. "Can you keep the crew healthy? I don't know how long they can endure the 'cat.'
------------------------
Smiling the honest smile if a young man complimented by woman, Elek pauses remembering one of the last meaningful conversation he had with his father. They were on the deck of the Banshee, one of the younger crew members had been flirting with Elek. His father surprised them as he walked the deck. The red haired girl giggled and blushed, then ran below decks. The two of them stood there together quietly for a moment in the light of the full moon. All he said was: "'Be careful with the hearts of your crew.'" The last time Elek saw that young sailor, she was chained with the others watching his parents hang.
Elek's smile waned at the memory, he looks back at Aretta "Oh, I know I'm right. This whole ship will be better without him." Winking, "As for handsome, Thanks and right back at ya." He nods at the tray, "Probably should keep passing the food around." Taking his leave he does just that.
trying a new skill: sense motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
--------------------------
After the Bloody hour, Before Elek heads to the hold with the rest of the crew, Elek approaches 'Owlbear.' Standing by the rail with his Big friend. "So Owlbear, how are you enjoying the new ship? You getting plenty of rest? Is there anything you need?"
influence: 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 13 + 2 = 30
-----------------------------
After his conversation with Owlbear is cut short by everyone being ordered below decks, Elek hopes Sandara would be able to help some of the crew while he tried to figure something out. Approaching "Artful" Roger Elek told him, "I've been working on my feinting like you showed me. I think I ready to see another move." He gestures towards the ceiling. "I don't think we have room to duel, but could you show me another stance?"
influence: 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 13 + 2 = 24
---------------------------
After Arful demonstrated a few things, Elek makes his way to the galley, shutting the door behind him so he and 'Fishguts' could have some privacy. "I think we lucked out with the sushi and Plugg. He wasn't quite sure if he should thank me or whip me." Moving closer, "I don't think Plugg intends to let me make it to Port Peril. You've sailed with him longer than most, what can you tell me about him and Scourge?"
sense motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Your Benevolent Dictator
Sandara nodded. "I can cure the body; it's the mind that I can't fix."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
You believe Aretta thinks you've been flirting with her. Based on what you've observed, she doesn't get a lot of positive attention.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Owlbear thinks hard for quite a while. "New ship is boring. No piggies to play with. No crabs to crunch."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Roger grins. "It's always a pleasure to share my expertise with a willing student! This stance helps you keep your distance from an opponent so it's easier to dodge their swings." (Combat Expertise is always an option to boost your AC. It doesn't require a feat)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Plugg? He's a right bastard, but Harrigan loves him for some reason. He's barely been sailin' for a year, and now look at 'im! Terribly ambitious. It's too early to tell, but I wouldn't be surprised if he sets out on his own. Rickety's Squibs ain't too far away, after all, and with a refit, Harrigan'll have a hard time findin' him."
Elek Kardforgató
Understanding Sandara's concern, he smiles, "You worry about the body for now, I'll try and keep their minds right." Elek nods to the Besmaran as he continues passing out the sushi and sashimi.
------------------------------
As Elek leaves Aretta's company he realizes that she thinks he's flirting. Which, he might be, a little. Flirting is fun, and dangerous. Shaking his head. But not what a smart captain should be doing.
------------------------------
Smiling at Rogers excitement, Elek tries to follow the pose, watching the swordsman's footing, he nods. "I'll need to practice it. Thanks!"
------------------------------
Sitting in the Galley with Kroop, Elek listens as the cook shares what information he knows. Elek had forgotten about Rickety's Squibs. He was also surprised that Kroop thought Plugg would double cross Harrigan. Elek didn't think the arrogant fool had it in him. Getting up, he starts to head to the door. Remembering what Owlbear told him, Elek turned back and asked Kroop. "Owlbear misses playing with the pigs below decks. Any livestock I could borrow? Even a chicken or a rabbit, or a guinee pig?" He smiles. "It might give me and excuse to get above decks after curfew."
I assume Elek would know what live animals the keep for food, even if I don't, but I think he would ask Kroops permission to borrow one or two

Thinking about his options Elek heads to bed, planning on rising with the sun.

Heading above deck, Elek is not surprised that Plugg gave the order to 'swab the deck' in the light drizzle. Just one more way to humiliate and demotivate the crew. Taking one of the deck brushes, He held it in his right hand bracing it with the harpoon hand. It didn't take long for the drizzle to soak through his lamellar armor.
He found himself near Shivikah and Crimson. Shivikah scrubbing as well with a brush and Crimson following behind with a mop. Staying near the two he began to sing "As I was out walkin' down paradise street, To me way, hey, blow the man down." He looked up and winked at Shivikah as he scrubbed "A pretty young damsel I chanced for to meet. Give me some time to blow the man Down." He looked up at Crimson, "Come on Crimson, you know the words."
"She was round in the counter and bluff in the bow." He smiled at them both as he continued scrubbing and singing. "So I took in all sail and cried, "Way enough now"" Trying his hardest to get the two to at least smile while doing the depressing busy work.

Though fatigued, Elek stayed with the two until 'the bloody hour' hoping to have a positive effect on both of them and possibly the rest of the crew.
Your Benevolent Dictator
It's hard work, but your singing helps. Neither of your crewmates joins in on your performance, but you catch both of them smiling when they think you aren't looking. You've always been cheerful and helpful, and it's definitely winning over the vast majority of the crew.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bloody Hour is another somber affair as Scourge continues to punish people for essentially nothing. Based on the grumbling and whispers you overhear, more than a few of the crew are thoroughly sick of it.
Elek Kardforgató
After the long day of hard work in the drizzling rain, Elek watches frustrated as the bloody hour takes it's toll on the crew. Fatigued himself, Elek knew he would be in no shape to do something about it. Even if he wanted to it would take timing and planning. But plans did need to be made.
After the bloody hour, Elek walked about with his bowl of soup and piece of rye bread, checking on everyone, asking a question here, telling a joke there. Trying to lift the mood of the crew. Stopping near Badger, he sits down for a moment. "So no gambling here on 'the Man's Promise.' Is that worse than not getting the rum?" He shrugs. "Honestly never been much into either. But..." He lets the rest trail off, not sure it was wise to bad mouth the present conditions on deck in front of gods and everyone. He smiles. "Plugg did say "I won't have you wasting your money on games of chance...." his voice trailing off.
Staring off to sea for a moment. "When I was a kid, the ship had a cook." He nods back towards where Kroop was. "Not as good of cook as Kroop." Pausing, he clarifies. "Well, not as good a cook as Kroop when he's sober. But he liked to play cards. Any card game. But he wouldn't play for money. He'd bring a box of toothpicks. Pass out even piles to whoever wanted to play and they would gamble with the toothpicks. Said he wouldn't gamble with his money only his life." He paused again, looking over the gunwale, "It was a good ship. Funny things you remember." Standing up he nods to 'Badger' "Maybe Fishguts has some toothpicks I can borrow." Stacking Badger's empty bowl in his he heads below decks.

Once everyone get's below decks, Elek approaches Rosie, pointing to the fiddle. "Rosie would you play something for me? I'm wore out and I need something to cheer me up." As Rosie plays, he hums along or sings a little if he knows the words. After a few minutes he gets up, "If you don't mind keep on playing. I'm going to go talk to a few people before I go to bed."
influence: 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 13 + 2 = 17
--------------------------
Realizing that Syl, while friendly, was still Pluggs bedfellow, Elek moved slowly around the hold. Speaking softly to almost everyone, even pausing long enough at Syl's bunk to ask if she got enough soup. Then moving on he stopped near Sandara's hammock, speaking softly he asked. "Your above decks more than I am. Can you tell by the heading if were on our way to merry Port Peril or does it look like were sailing to Rickety's Squibs"
------------------------
After talking with Sandara for a bit, he wanders over to 'Artful' Rodgers berth, asking. "Hey Rodger, when we first dueled you were preaching the benefits of the rapier. Mentioned Pluggs blade. You ever seen him use it? He any good?" He looks around the hold, then bluntly asks. "Or Scourge, any good with his axe or can he just injure someone who's tied to the mast."
Your Benevolent Dictator
"That's a great idea!" Badger exclaims. "And losing toothpicks won't sting as much as losing my hard-earned gold. If I run out, I can just whittle some more!"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rosie's happy to oblige. She never gets asked to play, and once she starts, it's easy to tell why. She's halfway through her second song when Scourge opens the top hatch and yells for her to "Stop that bloody caterwauling! We don't have any prisoners to torture!"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sandara whispers back, "I don't know where Rickety's Squibs is located, but we're sailing in the direction of Motaku Isle. If my memory serves, Port Peril's in almost the opposite direction."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Plugg's got a really nice blade. Perfectly balanced, and I'm pretty sure it's magical. From what I saw during the taking of the Man's Promise, he's extremely skilled. As for Scourge, I've seen him whip away a sailor's blade, so he's definitely accurate."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
As you're getting ready to go to sleep, Giffer comes over to your hammock. "I've been messing around with your boarding pike during my breaks. Turns out, it's a pretty simple enchantment. Shouldn't be too difficult to incorporate into your attachment."
Doing so will require 1,000gp worth of materials. Alternately, Giffer can destroy the boarding pike of repelling to get what she needs.
Elek Kardforgató
As Elek leaves Badger he makes a mental note to ask Groop about toothpicks in the morning.
----------------------
Glancing at Scourge, as he yells down the hatch. Elek comments "Apparently Scourge isn't a music lover." Shrugging. "How does he expect you to get better."
---------------------
"The exact opposite direction. That's what I thought." Keeping his voice low he informs Sandara, "Kroop said he was ambitious, figured he'd double cross Harrigan." Looking towards the hatch. "Two can play at that game." He nods to Sandara as he heads too speak with 'Artful.'
----------------------
As 'Artful' talks Elek keeps his thoughts to himself. 'So kill Plugg from a distance, or throw him overboard. And use the harpoon on Scourge.' Nodding to 'Artful' as he leaves, heading to his hammock.
--------------------
Accepting the Boarding pike, from Giffer, he swings out of the hammock and puts the thing near his sea-chest. "Thanks Giffer, I'll consider my options." Climbing back in the bunk, he falls asleep quickly.

Early Morning (still fatigued)
The storm hits in full force in the early hours of the morning. The wind blows with incredible force, and the Man's Promise is tossed about like a child's toy. All hands are needed on deck - even Owlbear's great strength is required. You're ordered to assist with hoisting and lowering the sails.
Profession (sailor) or DEX DC 14
Toward dawn, as the sky begins to brighten almost imperceptibly, the storm suddenly redoubles its ferocity, and dark shapes loom out of the sea all around the ship.
The weather is currently too powerful for you to influence.

Yikes totally forgot about the fatigue...
Sailor: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12 crud
Waking startled, Elek rolls out of his hammock rushing above deck in the near dead of night with the rest of the crew. Lashing himself to the mast, Elek helps wherever he can. Hoisting and lowering the sails as the order is given. Sometimes wrapping the rope around his harpoon hand, sometimes just grabbing it with his right hand to pull and sometimes wrapping the rope around his waist and using his weight to pull. Feeling fatigued, he knows he could have done better.
Relieved to see the dawn, Elek feels the storm redouble it's ferocity, he wonders to himself if Besmara has decided to shanghai his crew. Looking back to the skyline he sees the dark shapes loom.
Any knowledge checks for the shapes?
Your Benevolent Dictator
The powerful wind and rain reduces visibility to almost nothing. However, you do see several creatures slither out of the ocean and climb onto the deck of the Man's Promise.
Knowledge (civilization): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
GRINDYLOW
Their small stature and octopuslike limbs let you identify the creatures as grindylows. These aquatic goblinoids are less comical and more vicious than their land-dwelling cousins. Their sticky tentacles make escape difficult if you become stuck in their grasp.
You can see three of them from your current position, and they're all a Move Action away.
Elek Kardforgató
Recognizing the dark shapes slithering onto the deck, Elek calls out, "Grindylow! We're under attack!" Drawing his long blade as he moves towards the small tentacled figure on the end. Elek decides to attempt one of the moves he learned from 'Artful.' Thrusting towards the end goblin with the Estoc in a feint, he sidesteps and slashes at it with the cursed prosthetic.

Roger's lessons prove invaluable as your successful feint creates the opening you need to decapitate the beast. The others quickly dive overboard. Moments later, the entire ship shudders as it impacts with something in the water.

"Blast!" Cursing, blood covered, he looks up at the others. Pushing himself to a standing position with his harpoon hand, he looks at his blood covered pants then the other crew members. "Did anyone see what we hit?"
Moving over to the gunwale, he looks over the edge then out to sea.

You've run aground on a coral reef about three-quarters of a mile off the coast of a small island. Looks like the storm's blown the Man's Promise off course. As the sun rises, the storm gradually ends, and as the tide goes out, the full extent of the situation becomes clear.
There's a hole in the ship in the main hold on the starboard side. You're not in any immediate danger of sinking, but unless repairs are made, she'll eventually go under - even if the bilge pumps are run without a break. Mr. Plugg immediately instructs several of the crew to begin dismantling the deck to repair the vessel.
As you set about assisting in any way that's needed, you eventually realize that Sandara and Bonnie are missing.
Elek Kardforgató
Did that 25 give me any more information about the Grindylow, like, do they take prisoners?
Frustrated that the ship pushed the Man' Promise onto a strange reef. Elek is at least relieved to see Plugg had the good sense to begin repairs. Lending an hand harpoon to pry up boards, Elek notices that Bonnie and Sandara are missing. He spends a few minutes asking the crew if they have seen any sign of them.
Do we need a influence or perception roll or anything?
------------------------
After speaking with several crewmembers, Elek approaches Plugg. "Your Pardon Cap'ain Plugg, we've lost two seamen, Blades and Quinn. I believe the sea-goblins took 'em." He gestures at the ships boat. "I'd like your permission to take a few lads and go look for 'em. Take a few casks to fill up with water while were there. Maybe hunt a little."

Grindylows are intelligent, so they'll sometimes take prisoners.
None of the crew have seen either of your missing crewmates, although you do find Sandara's holy symbol while prying up boards. When you present your concerns to Plugg, he's dismissive. "They most likely got washed overboard during the storm. Far too late to do anything about it, I'm afraid. Such a tragedy." He seems about to order you back to work when Kroop emerges from belowdecks. "Just got through checkin' our stores, Cap'n. Nothing's ruined that can't be replaced in port - except the water barrel. It burst when we got hulled."
With a long sigh, Plugg considers his options. "Guess we've got no choice, then. Take the ship's cutter and a couple empty barrels and get us restocked. Take (two crew [not Kroop or Owlbear] of your choice) to help row the boat. No side treks or time-wasting. We're on a tight schedule if we want to make it to Port Peril before Harrigan gets cross. Repairs should take about a day-and-a-half, and we'll be sailing at the first high tide thereafter. If you're not back on board by then, we're leaving without you."
Elek Kardforgató
Relieved that Kroop had reported the loss of the water barrel, Elek raised an eyebrow at the day-and-a-half. "That shouldn't be a problem, but would you really leave without enough water." He gestures towards the crew. "Let me take a couple more." He gives a sly smile. "That way at least if we don't return you have less bodies to water."
Will making a request even help?
