Does anyone know how to read these words? Andrelis asks, peering at the text. Shrugging more to himself than anyone else, and his eyes glow blue for a moment, and he settles in to read the texts.
Cast Comprehend Languages: Elven trait- Envoy
Huh, these tablets are definitely important. It gives theory about infusing constructs with fiendish energies. Glancing at another one, This is about the war with Ancient Osirion. And lastly this is about arming constructs with weapons specially designed to work againt the Div.... Hey I wonder if that's what that sword is? he says, pointing to the magic-y looking weapon over there.
"From this and other things we have found and learned in this site it would appear these ruins are Jistkan and not Taldan in nature - which I'm sure the authorities in Cheliax were well aware of when they sent us here. I don't think they will react well to the truth being revealed."
Kaseem ibn al Majid
|
Andrelis nods at the words of Kaseem and Parrameleh. We'll be extra careful, and make sure we keep copies of our notes to ourselves?
"Keeping copies of our notes is an excellent idea. However I'm more worried about us. A wise old saying from Ancient Osirion: 'The best way for two people to keep a secret is for one to kill the other.' Given what Parrameleh has said about Cheliax I would expect an 'accident' to befall us should we provide findings contrary to what officials want to hear."

Let me know if you are done searching. There doesn't seem to be any more to explore after this room.
Assuming Andrelis has checked the entire room, particularly the area with the sword, for traps and found none, Kaseem will heft the sword to add to the loot pile. Back in the old days we'd say 'Greyhawk the room!' So not just the swords but the tablets, items, etc.

Misread tablets as tables and immediately had a hilarious mental image of us leaving the room carrying tables and couches and bookshelves...

Andrelis smirks at Kaseem, I think we'll be okay, we're a pretty resourceful bunch, and have gotten out of some tight jams before. Heck we even snuck that ghoul lord out of Cheliax, what was his name? While he summarily divests the room of anything not too bulky to carry, Tuck, do you mind carrying these tablets? Don't worry, I'll take a cookie off your hands to make sure you've got the room!
| GM Mauve |
The Pathfinders basically steal loot borrow everything that isn't nailed down, just like any Pathfinder would do!
They head back out. Satsuki and the camels seem to be doing alright. The group heads back to Khari then find their way back to Corentyn aboard another Chelish frigate in the evening.
When the Pathfinders arrive to meet with Zefiro, the museum appears dark and empty except for several muffled voices audible in the building's east wing.
Double doors open into a hall filled with bookshelves, display cases, and two large tables piled with manuscripts. Several oil lamps keep the darkness at bay even at night. A rolling ladder stands at the east end of the library. Two staircases near the doors rise to the balconies on both sides of the hall. The railed balconies run across the length of the hall with a third one rising even higher to the east. There, a pair of doors leads into a second-story office.
A woman with dark, flowing hair speaks from the highest balcony. "How nice of you to deliver yourselves to me. I was just about to come find you! I strongly advise that you turn yourself in for questioning - though I must admit that part of me hopes you won't, since our friends to the east are sure to hammer the truth out of the traitor Zefiro anyway."
She is on the top balcony with her familiar raven on the railing nearby. There is one Corentyn guard right in front of you and two thugs brigands with bows drawn, pointing directly at you. She is waiting for surrender before attacking.
Anyone but Kaseem would recognize the raven familiar by her side - the same raven that chased you when you were with Mirelle, helping her escape.
Andrelis Lethian

Ugh Kaseem, why did you have to be right about this? And why did I have to jinx us so? I'm going right, someone deal with this guard? Andrelis says out loud to those near him. Speaking louder, No I don't think I'll be turning myself in today or any day. In fact, you've been watching us for a while, and know what we are capable of.
With that, the elf draws his swords, and closes with the bowman on the right hand staircase....
I imagine this is a surprise-ish round, so Andrelis will just move.
Kaseem ibn al Majid
|
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Kaseem points out an avian silhouette passing in front of the moon before flapping off in the direction of the museum.
"Friend of yours?"
I switched the positions of Kaseem and Yuzu since there's no way Kaseem is going to walk in front of the muscle.
Kaseem ibn al Majid

No surprise round as they are all ready to fight. The guard has his sword drawn and the thugs have their bows aimed right at you. Since you aren’t surrendering, combat will start before you start moving or drawing weapons. Will be a few hours before I can update.
I think he was suggesting they have a surprise round vs. us.
Kaseem ibn al Majid

Hey, there's a reason the phrase is "anything that isn't nailed down"!
Back in Year 1 of Living Greyhawk the powers-that-be hadn't quite nailed the correct amount of treasure to give so it was called 'Living Ghettohawk' because the PCs took anything of value. They were so excited in one module that had a masterwork lock that they broke the door hinges to keep the lock intact - and then try to sell it!
| GM Mauve |
Yeah, I just randomly placed you guys. Feel free to rearrange before combat starts. Also, you all should be healed up - the journey back to Corentyn took a few days. Kaseem would have (hopefully?) healed you up no problem.
As Andrelis announces the he and the group will not surrender, the woman screams, "Arrest the criminals! Make sure not to kill them. We need them alive."
Moved Andrelis back to the start
The two thugs brigands and the guard move in to attack. The guard raises his sword. The two thugs raise their bows.
Anyone but Kaseem will remember the raven from the Mirelle encounter from Part 1.
Yuzu: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 + 2 = 17

Only Andrelis is quick enough to react before the others act.

"Yes that is something we can do." says Tuck with a side look at Andy to acknowledge his subtle message. "But I'd rather not surrender to you fellows, I've heard bad things about your catering."
He slips the brass knuckles on and spreads his arms wide in a welcoming and almost apologetic gesture that purely coincidently is remarkably similar to a stance ideal for a grapple.
Andrelis Lethian
|
Thanks, wasn't sure how much leeway we'd have in starting the combat!
Andrelis, true to his word to his companions, breaks to the right, drawing his swords as he closes with the archer on the balcony. Tuck's right of course, the food is simply terrible, and the accommodations leave much to be desired. This whole farce ends here. Why don't you crawl back to whichever of the nine hells suits you best, and we'll be on our way.
| GM Mauve |
Tuck draws his sword and starts running up the stairs. While he does, the raven caws (delays).
Also, as far as you can tell, these are all official Chelish police state-approved representatives of the law. She is wearing traditional Hellknight signifer apparel.

Parrameleh moves up and slashes at the guard with her claws. She digs her claws deep into his side before he screams out in pain!
Iluvia will move up, attempting to get Parrameleh in better line of sight. She'll point at the shifter and cackle. "Die criminals!"
Parrameleh must make a DC 14 Will save. Parrameleh will have -2 to AC for 6 rounds on a fail or 1 round on a save.
The guard looks at Parrameleh and smiles a creepy smile. He swings his sword down hard on her.
longsword: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

Yuzu is up the steps quickly, drawing her long blade as she runs; she moves with surprising speed, for someone wearing heavy armor!
Double Move! I'm assuming that stairs count as two squares each; if not, let me know, and I'll move directly above Yellow to restrict his movement/attack choices further so he has to choose between melee-ing me or taking an AoO.
Manik "Tuck" O'Leary

With Parrameleh engaging the guard Tuck makes for the one in charge.
Double move, same assumptions as Yuzu, I'm making a beeline for the witch if I have extra movement
Kaseem ibn al Majid

Kaseem moves into the library and casts Bless upon himself and his allies!
+1 morale bonus on attack rolls and saves vs. fear effects.
Gareleth Jarvinx

Before the fighting actually starts Gareleth calls out to Iluvia, "If you'd wanted a date, you really could have just asked me."
When the fighting starts Gareleth rushes in the direction his brother went and stretches out his hand to unleash a blast of cold at their foe.
Ray of Frost vs Touch AC: 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (20) + 6 - 4 = 221d3 ⇒ 1
Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (13) + 6 - 4 = 151d3 ⇒ 2
| GM Mauve |
Both Yuzu and Tuck run up the stairs. I believe stairs are difficult terrain, so double movement.. While they do, Kaseem moves forward and radiates energy - all his teammates feel blessed by Ra.
Then Garelth moves towards the steps and blasts cold air at the thug! Direct hit.
Both thugs brigands drop their bow and draw their longswords. They swing their weapons - one at Andrelis and one at Tuck.
Blue vs Tuck, longsword: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
slashing: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Yellow vs Andrelis, longsword: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
slashing: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
The thug hits Tuck and he nearly tumbles over as he's running towards Iluvia. The other thug misses Andrelis - the cold blast must've affected his swing!

Parrameleh snarls, her eyes deepen into slits and her back arches.

| GM Mauve |
Parrameleh slashes at the guard. Her claws rip open his chest and his intestines spill out onto the floor. He drops his sword and tries to hold them in, but collapses a moment later.
While the shifter engages the guard, Andrelis engages the thug. He takes one sword and stabs the man in the chest. Then takes the other and stabs the thug right in the eye. He screams in pain and collapses to the floor.
Iluvia is clearly angry now. "The Pathfinder Society will never work in Cheliax again! Turn yourselves in and that might change.". She attempts to sound threatening. But as she speaks, spiders start crawling out of her mouth slowly, until a swarm of angry arachnids forms at her feet! And the swarm skitters towards Tuck!
Spiders start climbing all over Tuck and start biting him!
Poison damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Tuck must also make a DC 11 Fortitude save or suffer from spider poison. These spiders are diminutive so they are immune to all weapon damage.
The woman then retreats back up the stairs to the higher balcony.

Gotcha, brother ;=)
Gareleth comes rushing up after Andrelis has dispatched a foe and continued forward and calls out, "Well done, brother!"
He then pops a wand out of his spring-loaded wrist sheath and calls out, "Now, you're not going to win me over at all with talk like that," to Iluvia even as he unleashes a blast of arcane force at her.

@Parrameleh is right! Forgot to update the initiative tracker. @Andrelis isn't up quite yet. Sorry about that!

Yuzu slices and dices the guard with her nodachi. But he still stands... barely. He spits at the kitsune and curses at her. "You should never have crossed Cheliax. We'll make sure you and your ilk are never to be heard from again."
Kaseem stands his ground. He summons forth a fiery falcon that attempts to ignite the Hellknight. But the raven easily knocks it away, just igniting some nearby wood.
The yellow thug takes his sword and attempts to slash Yuzu.
