Gulkyn launches three force bolts at the nearest skeleton.

Murgatroyd goes to town on the vesk undead that so helpfully joined him in the ditch:

Hammer Fist vs. White's KAC: 1d20 + 9 - 4 ⇒ (8) + 9 - 4 = 13

Benny doesn't have the means to really bring the thump to these corpses. He doesn't want to smash them too badly either, but there's little choice besides chucking some rocks.
Telekinetic Projectile vs. Red KAC: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Bludgeoning: 1d6 ⇒ 1
...Not that he can pin much of the blame on either of those for his wild miss.

With my Divine Blessing (Pharasma) feat, I can ignore one type of DR for undead, just in case it's relevant.

Murgatroyd moves across his colleagues and tosses another axe at the remaining undead, not having enough movement to get to it directly.
Basic handaxe vs. KAC: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
Slashing damage: 1d4 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Critical slashing damage: 1d4 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
And it's a perfect freaking throw. The light of Iomedae shines across the battlefield, illuminating the devoted android. Or at least he sees it that way.

Shifty |

And perhaps it was the Inheritor that blessed the axe - it sure looks that way as the flung object impacts on the skeleton and blasts it into a cloud of shattered bone.
As the Shriek eventually quietens back down you inspect the hard case on the bodies you recovered and find it contains both the blue beetle and stone pipe artifacts.
With the storm subsided, you return to Voyedris and find Reha eagerly awaiting your return "An eventful trip? What did you find?"

![]() |

Kyra also retrieves the dogtags of the fallen, giving them to Reha.
Unfortunately your ..... patrol ... fell victim to the Shriek from what we can tell. Something out there re-animated their corpses but we were able to deal with that, Sarenrae be praised. But they also had the artifacts you sought.

![]() |

"We also saw a military vehicle crashed there. A beautiful piece if one wants to put hours into fixing it." says Hellih

![]() |

"This one has found his time in the Veskarium educational, and looks forward to further opportunities to meet the locals and experience their lives."

Shifty |

Reha listens intently - "I'm disappointed to hear that most of the valley’s ruins were destroyed by the Shriek but I'm extremely grateful for the two artifacts you recovered. And thank you for notifying us of the fate of the patrol, I will see their loved ones are informed and arrangements made"

With that you return to Absalom Station for a debrief and a break from the Veskarium, for now.
Finished!

![]() |

Unsure of what Vesk high command will want, Benacu tries to haul the team's corpses back if no one has started doing so. Not being very strong, he likely has to ask for help midway through. "It seemed better than the alternative," he explains once everyone is back at Voyedris. "Do let me know if I've just done them a disservice, dragging them from where they might've died honorably."

Shifty |

New slide deck up
Freshly back in port at Absalom Station, and having just completed the endless tedium of paperwork and post-mission administration, you are finally taking a well-earned break and heading to the Seeker's Respite - a favourite haunt of Starfinders returning from missions. Located in the Arms section of Absalom Station, this cantina is known for catering to off-duty Starfinders, especially those seeking to get a bit of distance from the Lorespire Complex.
Things are already in full swing as you arrive - groups of Starfinders forming clusters and socialising loudly over the noise of the music system
You spot Dalteno the colourful and effervescent wythcwyrd bartender with his signature white bowler hat. Very grizzled and of indeterminate age, he retired from the Society about ten years ago after losing an arm during a mission. He mixes drinks with all his hands - including the distinctive cybernetic replacement.
"What'll it be?" he flashes a smile and puts down a glass he was polishing.

![]() |

Speaker for the Dead, a member of the gastropod-like embri race, undulates into the cantina. Seeing Dalteno, he moves over to the bar and replies, "Greetings, Dalteno! This one would like to experience that one's favorite drink, accompanied by a tale involving its consumption."

![]() |

"Water, for me. As pure as justice." declares Murgatroyd, the space paladin.

Shifty |

The bartender sends a glass whizzing down the bar to Murgatroyd, the ice clinking as he catches it - "On the rocks"
The bowler capped witchwyrd gets a slight glint in their eye as they think on Speakers request. The barman reaches under the counter and produces what almost appears to be an outdated science set with bunsen burners and a myriad of glass tubes and cylinders. A number of fluids are sent moving through the apparatus which eventually finds them tumbling from the device as a dense orange mist roiling in a highball tumbler. Looking closely you can see that it has actually formed into several distinct layers of density - "The Liavaran Dreamer" Dalteno announces with a flourish "Is it a gas, is it a liquid? I leave that to you to decide - but should you imbibe too many you will certainly resemble the concoctions namesake - a sleeping jellyfish"

![]() |

A vesk, wearing the symbol of the Veskarium Medical Corp as well as the one for the Pact Worlds, peers over at the concoction being created. He doesn't look as tough as the usual vesk.
Interesting. And what does it taste like?

![]() |

A stoic witchwyrd, enters the cantina and strides up to the bar. "Something from home, please good Dalteno," he requests.

![]() |

Well, never having tasted a gas giant, I shall have to take your word for it 'Doctor Vesk' replies. I would like to try one please, assuming it is not too much trouble

![]() |

Speaker for the Dead speaks to Gulkyn and Dalteno. "That one and that one come from an intriguing background, shrouded in mystery! This one would like to know more about those ones."

![]() |

culture: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Well I can tell you that they're both witchwylds. 'Dr Vesk' replies. And I believe that they're related to the kasatha is some way
((The GM can fill in anything more that Strax knows depending on the roll above))

![]() |

Benacu sidles over to the bar. "Have you restocked that Brethedan cider yet? If not, toss me the worst thing you have on hand. Could be fun." His order placed, the kalo waves merrily at his fellow agents. "How's it going, all? I know I'm enjoying a few hours off."

Shifty |

"Sure have, just recently had a Kiirinta through asking for a libation with at least a two percent concentration of procyanidin B2, 1,3-octanediol also containing 2-phenyl ethanol, so cider it was"
The barman preps the cider and another Dreamer.
There is that shrill noise that only young people engaged in booze-fuelled bonding ceremonies at a solid level of inebriation make. As you look over, you note a fairly junior Starfinder from the nearby group has just come past the bar to collect a tray of drinks and is checking out your party.
As he returns to his group he quietly says something to them, they all begin rubbernecking whilst trying to 'act casual', meanwhile one of the group, a vlaka - in a uniform so new you wonder if it has even had its first wash yet - looks over at you all with a deer in the headlights expression.
They seem pretty excited about your presence.

![]() |

Gulkyn grimaces as he spies the young, eager, Starfinders watching them. As Dr. Vesk heads over he turns the other way and looks out at the rest of the crowd.

![]() |

Strax has to think about that. Erm. Get to know your comrades and abilities so you can work more efficiently as a team. Remember to learn things, you never know what knowledge will be useful and ... always keep an open mind. As for a favourite mission? One where I do not have to patch up the team all the time.
He also uses Psychokinetic Hand to get his drink from the bar.

![]() |

Being relatively young himself, Benacu follows along. Thankfully, he has some extra time to mull over the cadets' questions as Strax answers them. "Hard to say for sure. I've got a decent few missions under my belt and I still feel like quite the newbie. Just a junior member of a Starfinder-adjacent team, now I'm representing the lot while most of them are...um, elsewhere."
"Uh...keep an open mind is right, but like, I really mean it. I've had to break into or out of two separate AbadarCorp buildings. Didn't feel great either time, but it was the best decision." The kalo shakes his head vigorously, the contents of his helmet sloshing about. "Nope, that's too heavy. New advice: you've got this great opportunity. Sure, don't squander it, but don't do too much work too fast either. There's always a good time to kick back, like now!" He heads back over to the bar before he can (in his opinion) further mess up the conversation.

![]() |

"Pray. Pray for Iomedae for guidance and to keep you in the right path of justice and honor. Pray and follow." preaches Murgatroyd, from over the counter.

Shifty |

The junior Starfinders are completely enthralled by the advice being given and nod sagely - stick to the right path, justice and honour, don't get too injured, relax from time to time.
"Thank you so much! Some great advice in there"
If the new Starfinders uniforms still look shiny and freshly out of the packet - a crotchety Ysoki appears at the table to join in the conversation with a uniform that looks well and truly due to be retired - "Everything you have just been told is true. We explore, we report, we cooperate. If you follow the wisdom you have just been given, you will all end up veteran Starfinders too" - he winces a little as he moves, turning from the younglings to your group of more experienced Starfinders "I wish I could wind the clock back and be that young again" he half chuckles "now I don't recover like I used to, and it seems this time I wont recover at all - was a great battle in the Scoured Stars, seems like it was my last" he sighs "Jibbs" he introduces himself.
"I've spent so long in the game I don't know what we're supposed to do with ourselves once we get out. Can you recommend any good hobbies? Noting too strenuous, doctor says I can't afford to get too worked up anymore due to injuries"

![]() |

"This one believes that lives are endless so long as their stories are told. Has that one told the tale of the time that one spent in the Scoured Stars? A tale told truly is a gift to all who hear it."

![]() |

Growing flowers? Strax replies. Although without knowing the nature of your injuries I cannot recommend potential exercise activities.
He then turns to Speaker. I'd rather forget what happened there

![]() |

"Have you heard of the church of Iomedae?" Murgatroyd pulls out his worn holy text book. "No better thing to do in your free time than to learn about her teachings."

![]() |

Benny retrieves a handheld console. "The Society's invested a lot into breaking my gaming habit. All the missions I'm going on now. They haven't beaten me into submission enough yet for me to give you mine, but maybe pick up one of these? Most of the actual content is free (to start)."

Shifty |

"Storytelling? Interesting! Growing flowers? Cactii on Akiton perhaps, become a gardener and scrapper. Hmmm maybe you are right, time to think about Iomedae and the great beyond... and a bit of this gaming too, but yes I like your suggestions, I think I'll look into -"
***BOOM!***
Suddenly the glass window next to the mechanical renkroda being ridden by a few bar patrons explodes inward with a roar, and echoes of shouting and laser fire can be heard coming from outside the cantina.

![]() |

"Oh thank the stars"
Gulkyn quickly gets up from the bar and heads outside to see what is going on.

![]() |

Murgatroyd rushes towards danger as well, not a second of hesitation.
