[PFS1] 4-19 Night March of the Kalkamedes (GM Watery Soup) (Inactive)

Game Master Watery Soup

Maps

This is a recruitment for PFS scenario #4-19 (Night March of Kalkamedes), Tier 1-5.

Quote:
A veteran Pathfinder exploring the Fenwall Mountains of Varisia has begun sleepwalking, traveling through the dead of night in the same direction each time. The following mornings, however, he awakens injured and lost in the wilderness, never reaching the mysterious destination that drew him from his bed in the night. Something is calling Kalkamedes, something powerful, but unless he can make it safely to the source of his somnambulism, that power will remain a mystery. It falls to a team of Pathfinders to escort the sleepwalker to his destination and uncover the true nature of the strange phenomenon overtaking Kalkamedes’s dreams.

Recruitment criteria:

1. Posting expectations are standard - 1 post/weekday and 1 post/weekend. This game will run through US Christmas and US New Year's, so posting expectations will be somewhat relaxed during those times.

2. Seats are reserved for Voices in My Head and Bahram al-Urgug, if they claim them.

3. A moderate effort will be made to keep characters clustered in tier.

4. I haven't purchased or read this scenario, but I've heard enough good things about it that I'm willing to run it without having read it. However, I'm not going to purchase the scenario until I'm sure that the game's gonna go.

5. As I understand it, this scenario is roleplay-heavy and creativity is encouraged/required. I'm all in favor of creativity, but I feel compelled to say up front that I have a shorter leash for "edgy" characters than most GMs. "Creativity" is explicitly not carte blanche to try figuring out where the line is. My rule of thumb: if I have to look it up, it's not allowed.

6. This recruiting is not FCFS. I'll leave it open for at least 72 hours (until Tuesday), and people who apply in the first 2 minutes will be treated the same as people who apply 2 minutes before the deadline (except Voices and Bahram).

7. If you'd like to apply, just post in this thread with an updated character sheet and tagline. Post a description of a funny dream you had.

My dream: As a kid, I once dreamed about the perfect hiding spot for hide-and-seek - I was being chased, I went into the shower, and bunched the shower curtain up. Because the shower curtain looked open, the shower appeared empty. But there was just enough space that unless someone walked all the way into what appeared to be an empty bathroom, they would never see me. I used that hiding spot for years in waking life.

too bad this isn't core...

I'm here! Thanks muchly. I will get my avatar updated this weekend. And will give dream also other stuff on the character by then.

I'd be interested in playing. The character I want this for is 1st level, but if people prefer to play up, I will use a 4th level pregen.

I had a dream where I was 300 pounds, and though I was very heavy, I floated 'til I couldn't see the ground...

Wait, that's not my dream, but it's related. The most vivid dream I can recall from childhood must have been after one of those D.A.R.E. lessons, as I was walking down the hall in the school and someone slapped an LSD sticker on my shoulder, which caused me to go to the gymnasium and float up to the ceiling.

Wahoo! Buckle up, snortflaglers and bactopians, because this gnome is here to tell you all about the wonders of the animal kingdom from up-close and personal experience! Gnome barbarian 4 - he’s got one chronicle sheet that should arrive tomorrow to get him there, and then I’ll update his profile and tagline.

The Dream:
One night, Reckum woke up and looked out his window. Out past the strawberry patches, he could see something big snuffling about and shaking all the trees. Carefully he got out of bed, grabbed his trusty Smashing Stick, made himself breakfast, and then realized he was late for an appointment at the city hall to explain why the velociraptors were hanging off all the streetlamps. But by the time he got to the courthouse, all the lights in the town had gone out because the velociraptors were too heavy and the court was adjourned because Reckum had forgotten to put on pants. Just as the judge was about to sentence him to jail for one million years for contempting the court, the gnome woke up.

Liberty's Edge

Gonna throw my hat in the ring with this guy. But I have a bunch of level 2's if we need low tier.

My weirdest dream is that all men and women will be treated equally...

Too real?

Ok, how about...that I'll be a famous writer.

Wait, neither of those are funny.

I haven't had many dreams since the precognitive ones stopped.

And now we're back into the realm of weird.

Oh...that there would be so much Marvel content on TV that I would actually avoid some of it!

No, wait...that's true...

Cat sssaid Ssself isss 'posssed to be here. Sssquirrel sssaid Ssself isss 'posssed to be here. Ssself isss here.

Dreamsss? Yesss, ssself dreamsss lotsss. Mossstly bout being goblin. Once Ssself was baby goblin and eated big white fluffy cake. Chasssed lotsss of bigjobsss in fancy clothesss. Was goblin riding big pig, that fun. Wasss goblin caught in ssspider web, that not fun. Wasss goblin usssing burning tubesss ssshoot fire all around, that exciting! Wasss even goblin god talker once, that kinda boring. Ssself not even know what Ssself sssaysss. Ssself isss goblin lotsss timesss.

The squirrel on his shoulder says quietly, No, no. Remember we talked about this. You are not actually ever a goblin. Sometimes you dream about goblins, but you are not a goblin. Try to remember that this time. Not a goblin.

Uhmm... Yesss what Sssquirrel sssaid. Not a goblin.

Voices is a 1st level barbarian and 4th level summoner. The build has both a familiar and an eidolon. Yes, I know, I can only take one pet on a scenario. If the group has no 'face' character, I will bring the eidolon, who is pretty good at it (though doesn't have true speech yet), and leave the familiar at home sleeping in the sun. If the group has no 'scout' character, will bring the familiar and not summon the eidolon. If the group has both I will just pick one of them.
Voices is an idiot who lets the pets tell him what to do. Fellow party members can also usually convince him to do whatever they want with little effort. But sometimes he gets an idea stuck in his head and it is hard to deflect him.

Bahram has declined, so open recruitment is for 5 seats.

The Concordance

"A Pathfinder needs help? Oh Kitty, we have to help him!"
______________

Out of my available characters - since it looks like we're skewing high tier - Fran here is my preference but I'm also happy to adjust that, if necessary. She's a Witch 5 and ready to help!

It's been literal years ago but I do remember having a dream that was apparently heavily inspired by the Twisted Metal video games series where I was ramping cars off of rooftops and such.

FYI for the GM: I've GMed this scenario several times but have never played it, so I'm happy to take a backseat when it comes to party decisions and the like :)

Alrighty, scenario purchased, and the following people can check in. Let's aim for a Thursday or Friday start, I still need to do a second read-through and make slides.

1. Voices in my Head (Level 4)
2. cmlobue (Level 1 or Level 4 but we're high tier either way)
3. Reckum (Level 4)
4. Reggie Bottleberry (Level 5)
5. Fran Belmont (Level 5)

There's space for one more, so FCFS.

Grand Lodge

Voices is actually level 5.

No matter how RP-heavy this may be, I don't think throwing a 0 XP character into a subtier 4-5 is a good idea. The character getting the sheet is an occultist, so I would play Mavaro at level 4 unless there is a specific role the rest of the party wants me to fill.

Grand Lodge

Ok, I want in. I GM'd this scenario 4 times at a Con when it first came out. It was my favorite scenario at the time and is still in my top ten. I'll hafta use the first of my 19 replays, if ya don't mind.

If another player that hasn't played this wants the last spot, I will gladly give up my spot. If not...

I have a 3rd level warpriest or a 3rd level Shaman.
