Seeing the other soldier fall, Jahn grabs the pair and slides their bodies together and props them against each other.
"Anyone got any cable to bind these two before they wake up?"
Then he looks at where Jagare bit them.
"Gonna have to bind those up...that little guy is fierce!"
Duncan Sangster
Duncan pulls their weapons away from them, removes their helmets, and makes sure to turn off their in-helmet radios. If they have taclashes, he suggests using them as binding materials.
"Let's take these mingers back ta Aibrieta's workshop. We've taken out a lot o' them so if she has any other folk to join the revolution, we can probably try to bust Cedona outta that garrison."
Nuri Zahgev
Collecting the weapons and ammo from the unconscious cadets, Nuri steps back letting Duncan and Jahn do their work. "Once they wake up, hopefully they'll be able to tell us how many of the invaders remain."
Enslig
Which other options are available, besides the garrison?
Jahn Soter
|
"Maedelon's the local governor, isn't he? Town's named after him?" Jahn asks. "I'm guessing the Zlants have him under their thumb...getting him out from under there'd probably hit their morale hard."
Ivris-mu
"Is Maedelon at his residence or the garrison with the other hostages?" Ivris-mu asks Enslig and Duncan. The android looks at their opponents' unconscious faces. "Most beings appear non-threatening when asleep. Their ages suggest they are inexperienced. As am I."
It double checks the pistol's ammunition. "I can assist in carrying one of them."
Duncan Sangster
Duncan reiterates his suggestion of taking the captives back to the workshop and conversing with Aibrieta to find out about the fate of the governor or mayor or leader. She may also have some other members of the community who may be willing to help.
Nuri Zahgev
I was also under the impression that we’d gotten out of public eyesight with our captives before discussing further action. Albretta’s scrapyard being the one place we’re pretty sure is safe.
Duncan Sangster
Duncan sets down the helmets where he can still hear them if there is any radio chatter and says to Aibretta, "Earlier, ye said ye had other colonists doin' resistance work. I'd suggest ye call 'em in while we check the administrator's house--what was his name again?--fur anythin' useful. Sound like a plan? We've thinned their ranks a fair bit, so we can take the garrison when everyone who might help is ready. While we're out, maybe ye kin get some info outta these goons."
Duncan picks up the helmets again and waits for instructions on how to get to the administrators house or for other ideas of what to do next.
Ivris-mu
"Also, Aibretta, does anyone know how long it will take reinforcements to arrive for the Azlanti?" Ivris-mu asks. It regards its companions with appreciation. "Thank you for your efforts. For the members of the crew, I will arrange for bonus pay. For the colonist volunteers, I will arrange something with the governor...though I could hire you as mercenaries." It pauses for a moment as if thinking of its parameters as the ship's captain.
"Yes, I do believe that falls within my capacities. Not to suggest any of you are motivated purely by economic profit, if such a notion offends you."
It pauses for comments then continues, "Shall we sneak to the governor's domicile? Oh Aibretta, is there a colony surveillance system? Video monitors for the buildings' exteriors or interiors. Anything like that?"
Jahn Soter

"The stomach isn't a mirror; fill it with hay, no one will see it," Jahn mutters at Ivris-mu's offer of increased pay, though he doesn't really say it to anyone in particular. He watches Aibretta, waiting for her answer.
Nuri Zahgev
Looking down at their prisoners, Nuri responds to her captain. ”Cap’n, I think the ship has sailed on the surveillance front. We’ve been in several conflicts around town. If they’re watching, they’ve seen us.”
Thinking about Jahn’s statement, she looks at him quizzically. ”My species cannot be sustained by hay alone. I don’t think it’d fill my stomach, seen or not. “

"The Azlanti came so fast before we could set up an infosphere, so there is no surveillance for the colony," Aibretta explains.
Ivris-mu
"That is a good logical deduction, Nuri," Ivris-mu replies. "Aibretta, I was not aware that surveillance was tied to the infosphere, but tying them together does make sense. So are we ready?" he asks the others.
The android stands near the door and listens for anything coming from outside. When it decides their exit will be safe. It motions for Nuri to take the lead out the door and then for Enslig to lead the way to the governor's residence.
Nuri Zahgev
Moving smoothly out of the workshop and into the scrapyard, Nuri takes the lead, silently following Enslig and Duncan's directions to the founder's home. Once we've taken care of Maedelon, then we can get Cedona out of the garrison.

Enslig, you find nothing wrong with the entrances, except for one thing. Maedelon's private residence entrance has a pressure plate by Azlanti design.
Duncan Sangster
"It's a trap!" Duncan blurts out. Then he gets to work trying to figure out what the plate is connected to and disengage whatever the plate is meant to trigger when stepped on.

Duncan, you turn off the Pressure Plate. However, it won't be trapping anyone soon. The lights on it go off. Thus it is safe to walk on.
Ivris-mu
"Well done Duncan," Ivris-mu says to the pahtra. It kneels on one knee to examine the pressure plate. "I did not think to check for this type of device. I will step carefully and not touch anything without looking for traps."
The android moves inside and take a slow perusal of the room.

"Quite the wicked azlanti welcome." Enslig moves inside and looks around for more surprises:

Other than the pressure plate, what is inside the structure? Anything to indicate what happened to the administrator?
Inside, everything is in disarray. As if the Azlanti was searching for something. There are papers on the ground, the couch is cluttered with paper, and the desk's drawers are all opened.
