Some of the damage to guard 1 was nonlethal. Let us know if he is alive. If so Duncan will recommend taking him to a secure location to keep as a hostage.
Still waiting for an answer to this question.
Ivris-mu
Sometimes the fun of rolling dice (even virtual) wins out over the Take 10 mechanic.
”Yes, we will depart in a moment,” Ivris-mu says while continuing to check the area for danger. ”Someone please verify that both soldiers are dead.”

Sorry, it's my understanding that Ivris-mu killed him.
Duncan Sangster
That was soldier #2, the second one to go down. By my count #1 took 20 lethal and 4 non-lethal. If these guys have 20 hp, then he would be unconscious and stable at zero HP.

Hearing Ivris-Mu's order, Jahn nods and turns back, checking and finding the second soldier still alive. He takes a deep breath in through his nose and quickly slits the soldier's throat before returning to the group.
"Both dead. Let's get Jellic out of here."
Nuri Zahgev
Grabbing the soldier's sidearms, Nuri stands and turns to the others. "Right, they're dead and we've got Jellic. Let's go!"
Duncan Sangster
Duncan does not look pleased when the living guard is killed. He had hoped to explain that having a hostage would give the group some bartering chips to perhaps negotiate the release of Sedona or one of the other prisoners. But, once the blood is flowing, there is no point in saying anything further, at least at this point.
Duncan takes one more moment to don one of the guard's helmets, switch on the radio, and say in his best Azlanti, "Esecuzione cumpleta. U prigiuneru hè mortu. Ora sparghjemu a folla."
He again switches the off radio transmitter off, but keeps the receiver on with the gain up, so he can hear any communications coming from the garrison. He carries the helmets and says to the crowd, "If any o' them ask, get awl weepy and cryin' aboot how they killed poeor Jellic, och aye?" When he says 'them' he points at the dead guards. "An' it'd help if any o' ya kin move these oot inta the bush. Then I'd hide meself. We'll be in Aibretta' shop. Let us know if ya want to help rid this place o' them toalies."

Jahn watches Duncan as they retreat.
"I know that look. You're brooding."
When they reach the other rebels, Jahn folds his arms.
"Yeah, Jellik...how can you think like that? Felt like playing the hero?"
Ivris-mu
”I think at least in the short-term we succeeded,” Ivris-mu tells his companions. ”Well done. Now, I expect the Azlanti to come after Jellik and us, searching building to building. They may strike at the colony’s citizens as reprisals.”

"This is my land," said Jellik. "It doesn't belong to the Azlanti."

"I thought the guard that fell last might hae been kept alive as a hostage. Water under the bridge now."

"Aboot that," Duncan says, grinning slightly. "I sent a message that said the execution was complete an' that the crowd was bein' dispersed. If my voice or accent dae dnae give my ruse away, they may not send anyone oot fer a while."
"Meanwhile, we still have ta deal with that water elemental. If no one can talk its language, we may as well kill it. Otherwise, folks won't be able to get water."
Enslig
Enslig takes a 10 minutes break to recover stamina.
"There's no concept of 'taking prisoners' in the Green. Herd animals will kill to defend themselves, predators will also do so to eat... but they never take hostages." Enslig is fine with the murders.
I vote for the cemetery, just to avoid the discussion about the elemental again

Jahn shrugs.
"I see...I'm sorry," Jahn replies with a nod, not pressing the issue, but his face clearly shows he's troubled about it too.
He also waits to ensure he's in top shape for the next fight.
Resolve to recover stamina.
Ivris-mu
”Good thinking about the message concerning the execution Duncan,” Ivris-mu says. It follows the conversation about the last guard that fell and Jahn’s act. It slowly nods to itself. ”I was too occupied watching for other Azlanti to witness the act. We do appear to be in a place where ‘might is right,’ which I find unsettling. It is so nebulous...but we can discuss philosophy another at another time and in another place. Let me add, if the odds are in our favor, taking a hostage may be beneficial in securing the release of Cedona.” It pauses to allow anyone to speak.
”I have been thinking about the water elemental. Let us call the ship,” Ivris-mu says taking out its comm. ”Perhaps Nym has knowledge of the language we need, or there is a translation application that can aid us. Meanwhile, I think we should investigate the cemetery.”
I looked, Nym doesn’t know Aquan. You'd think a ship's computer would be capable of translating a few hundred languages.
Nuri Zahgev
Nuri sits for a few minutes listening to the conversation and quickly breaking down, cleaning, and reassembling the various firearms that she has collected. As she tests the action on one of her newly claimed pistols she looks over at Ivris-mu. ”Captain, just tell me what to do. I wanna get Cedona out of that prison as much as anyone. Have we diminished their forces enough for a run on the garrison yet?” She smoothly holsters the weapon and begins separating spare ammo into appropriate magazines, making sure to have at least one spare fore each weapon. ”Besides, if we wanted a prisoner or hostage of our own, we shoulda grabbed those taclashes. Everything I’ve got is gonna make ‘em bleed.” Even though it’s hidden, you get the sense from the way she says that last word, that there’s a wicked grin behind her armor’s facemask.
Also spending a Resolve point to recover Stamina.

Jahn breathes in and out through his nose a bit.
"Any choice is right, so long as it's willed. That's the truth," he says. "At least, that's what I grew up believing. Don't really think the Zlants care that much about the lives of their raw recruits to give in to the demands of colonist rabble."
He then looks to Duncan.
"Think Aibretta said some of the Zlants were nosing around there for some reason," he says, then he looks at Aibretta. "Is that right? Or was there another reason? And did you ask the others if any of 'em know Aquan?"
Enslig
"Why the cemetery?"
Other than that the GM mentioned ooc that there was to be an encounter there?
What kind of western would this be without a cemetery showdown? I expect Ecstacy of Gold to be playing on the background
Ivris-mu
”I thought we might be able to use the cemetery as an ambush site,” Ivris-mu says. ”It would minimize any buildings getting damaged, and more importantly, the colonists would be safer. Though maybe the moisture collector facility would serve better. A sniper high on the building, different zones of attack...fields of fire, to contend with. As for the garrison,” it nods at Nuri, ”I do not know. With the size of our group, we need to be careful, attack when we have the advantage.”
Yeah, no real IC reason other than what Ivris-mu says. Also, did we learn the soldier’s name whose armor Duncan is wearing? If we broadcast a distress call it might be more believable if we know his name. Finally, does the ship have resources to help us communicate with the water elemental?
Enslig
If you want a mexican showdown at the cemetery, I can give you one.
I'll settle for a spaghetti western one
Duncan Sangster
Duncan reflects on the discussion before saying, "How aboot this? We set up an ambush. I radio that ah'm pinned down by two colonists tryin' ta git revenge fer the execution. I radio fer backup an' afore I can say much, Nuri shoots the helmet after which ... radio silence." As he says this, Duncan demonstrates his holding a helmet near his mouth as he speaks and then holds the helmet out for Nuri to shoot.
"Should draw out a few more soldiers but not too many. Now what'd make it perfect, Aibretta, is if I could rig up a gadget ta jam their radios once they arrive, so they can't call fer backup."
He gets up to look around the shop for the sections with electronics parts.
Duncan Sangster
"The guards weren't wearin' their helmets when we attacked, so I dinnae think they had a chance to radio the garrison that they were under attack. After that I radioed that the colonist was executed and that the colonist witnesses were bein' dispersed. I haen't heard any chatter on their radios since. I think we're safe. Their numbers're dwindlin' with all that hae been put down by us. If they send anyone, it won't be many and we can take a few more doewn."
This is based on the AP description, a detail that was not conveyed by the GM, but I assume it would be something the PCs would notice.
Ivris-mu
”If we are quick, it sounds like the risk will be minimal,” Ivris-mu says, nodding towards Duncan. ”Let us go. Jamming their comms will help us immensely.” Ivris-mu reloads his pistol’s magazine to full capacity.
”I do wish we had a tally of our adversaries, so we know how many remain.”

Jahn reloads his own gun.
"The scythe has been sharpened; the righteous harbingers are riding in, hooves thudding. We ought to be clear now on whom that scythe shall swoop down. The hour of reckoning is near."
Duncan Sangster
Duncan sheds the cumbersome ceremonial plate the soldiers wear in favor of his freebooter armor. He leaves behind the rifle, which he can't shoot well in favor of his sidearms and other weapons. If Aibretta has some sacks for carrying the gear to be collected, he'll grab enough to hold the armor and weapons.
He carries the three helmets he's collected and keeps the microphones turned off but the speakers turned on and up so he can hear if any communications go out to the cadets who once wore them.
Nuri Zahgev
Keeping all her hands on the butts of her side arms, Nuri stalks along with the others. Her eyes darting this way and that, constantly searching their surroundings for danger. "Then let's be quick. I'd like to get Cedona out of that prison ASAP. Although a proper accounting of the Azlanti forces is still lacking."

Signaling for the others to stop, Nuri points to the Azlanti patrol. Keeping her voice quiet, she looks to Ivris-mu, "What's the plan Cap'n? Kill or capture?"
And as she waits for the answer Nuri draws her sidearms and carefully readies herself for combat.

How many cadets are there? Are they in a group or spread out in a line?
”Let’s try to subdue as many as we can,” Ivris-mu whispers. ”Maybe we can trade for multiple prisoners. Hopefully we can question one of them.”

There were twelve cadets. You managed to thin them out to two.

It's a little hard to know what to post when all we know is there are two Azlanti's in sight. Where are they relative to us? Are there any buildings or other forms of cover to consider? So I'll post an attack and hope for the best.
