Would it be clearer if I did it the other way around?
I'm used to one of two ways: expressing current/total, such as 56/68 hp; or expressing the raw damage taken, such as -12 hp. I have to admit that the first time I saw "Quinoline 12/68 hp," I went back and made sure I didn't miss hits on Quinoline. Of course, Quinoline getting crit for 56 damage is totally plausible, and maybe even expected, based on her recent history.
Astrid Gertasdottir
|
Okay I've edited slightly to make it clearer. I really like having full hp totals listed for characters but while listing 'current hp' / 'full hp' works fine for characters it doesn't work as well for monsters with unknown full hp totals.
Pyotr Tinskin
|
That confused me at first, but I got it quickly enough. I'm waiting until next round to heal myself and buff as I'm not in melee anymore.

Didn’t realize I was up from how you phrased it before. This entire combat has me confused. Ah, whatever.
With a crack of his neck, the elf rushes forward once again, moving past both the shark and rat if they have movement-dependent reaction triggers, I trigger them and stops on top of the constellation that apparently looks like a skipping stone and swings at the smoking rat! For sake of transparency, I’ll admit that I looked up how the cinder rat’s aura worked so that I could just keep things moving; let me know if metagaming like that is too much and I’ll pull it back (wanted to make sure I understood the smoke aura correctly, and then I saw the sickened thing on it, so I figured I might as well take care of that).

The wanderers move across the stars, the constellations move across the sky. A light appears in the east and Lashweather keeps at his chanting and, at least for the moment, continues the ritual powered without any interruptions.
Celister's blade has taken out the rat, and with it the cloud disappears. Astrid's condition improves and Pytor improves her health with a spell. cloud goes with the rat, so the sickened condition must also disappear.
A burst of energy turns into water under Astrid's feet, sliding a little to the south as it forms into another brine shark. It immediately begins biting at her even as its companion shark does the same.
Sparks create a smoky ash, inside another rat shape coalesces from the red flames. This creature moves to attack the nearest creature-the glassblower.
