While the creatures are distracted, she will move in, and use Battle Medicine on Astrid.

Quinoline will throw a second bomb, and then Avert her Gaze.

Minor metagaming: because of the trigger of the lizards’ reaction, I don’t get the bonus from Avert Gaze against it because the bonus ends at the beginning of a character’s next turn, which is when the reaction triggers.

Astrid did not use shield block because she has not been hit. Having taken 78 pts of damage gold is now most likely down. If not Astrid will attack gold then move to green. Where did that black-bordered one come from? He wasn't there earlier.
Astrid lumbers over to the final creature and skewers it with her sword.
shortsword-IC-flat footed if I can move to where that black border monster is now: 1d20 + 17 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 17 + 1 = 35

Quinoline Silicate |
The second attack - a 28 - didn't hit you?
Astrid Gertasdottir |
The 28 was against Celister. He has taken a crapton of damage this fight. 78 by my count. Astrid is slowed but uninjured.
Astrid Gertasdottir |
Actually after recounting, Celister has taken 89 points of damage. I failed to double up the damage when he was critted.
Quinoline Silicate |
Well ... poop. For whatever reason, I thought that Astrid was the one who had been hit multiple times (hence my skepticism when you said you hadn't been hit at all). If it's okay with the GM, Quinoline will move and Battle Medicine Celister, not Astrid.

I just got back from my local PFS table & my tablet is almost dead. Not going to make a good post.
U's force damage finishes gold. Redirect Q's electric to green (miss but splash) & OK to medic on C.
C hits twice (redirect to valid target) for big numbers, A crits leaving the creature VERY close to not getting another action (& flat footed :) EDIT: The black border basilisk is Pytor's critter/illusion.
Namza is up, can he bring it down?
Namza |
Just for the sake of variety here...
With one lizard left, Namza will cast a reach chill touch on the lizard.

The icy touch of necromancy is shrugged off by the eight-legged spidery lizard. The creature, sensing a death is near, bites again at the elf and knocking Celistre out of the fight. Also sensing Astrid's predicament the creature directs it gaze at the Ulfen, willing her life into its dead-like eyes. Fortitude please.

1st paragraph
Source Core Rulebook pg. 459 1.1
Creatures cannot be reduced to fewer than 0 Hit Points. When most creatures reach 0 Hit Points, they die and are removed from play unless the attack was nonlethal, in which case they are instead knocked out for a significant amount of time (usually 1 minute or more).
So much like in starfinder if the damage that brings the bad guy to 0 is nonlethal then they are unconscious rather than dead. If they take nonlethal damage during the fight but are brought to 0 with lethal damage they are dead.
Umbra by redeux |
Umbra takes out a 2nd level scroll of soothe (school item), and casts it on C.
Soothe Celister: 2d10 + 8 ⇒ (3, 3) + 8 = 14 rubbish
"Hey! Wake up! The Dark Prince wishes you to suffer more before you die!" he yells as though were a completely normal thing to say.

Quinoline throws an alchemist's fire at the reptilian creature.

Fire: 2d8 + 4 ⇒ (3, 4) + 4 = 11 plus 2 persistent fire damage
4 splash fire on a miss no splash on crit fail
Quinoline raises her shield, and moves to the far side of the creature from Astrid.
Pyotr Tinskin |
Yeah, it just functions as damage, only difference is if it strikes the final blow.
Pyotr draws closer against his rarely-used better judgment, continuing to prattle. His illusory ally keeps up the fight.

Celister |
Celister’s eyes flutter open as Umbra soothes him. He looks down at his hand to find it stained crimson. ”Oh. I’m bleeding. When did that happen?”
The elf glares up at the lizard as he rises to his feet. That hurt you sonuva...! Without thinking he throws a punch at the creature in anger and desperation!

”Urg!” Celister grabs his side. I think that might’ve been a rib... He hobbles his way away from the lizard toward Umbra and Namza. On mobile; could someone please move my token 7 squares to the left?
”Any chance any of you could...help a guy out?”

Quinoline Silicate |
Unfortunately, Quinoline used Battle Medicine on Celister just before he went down. She can Treat Wounds after combat.
Namza |
Combat is over, yes?
Quinoline Silicate |
I'm confused. I thought if nonlethal worked the way it does in PF1, combat is over; if it didn't, then combat is not over. Nonlethal doesn't work the way it does in PF1. Doesn't that mean the reptilian creature is still up?
Or, at least, was still up when the GM asked Pyotr, Umbra, and Quinoline to go? (Pyotr's illusory bite may have taken it down.)
Astrid Gertasdottir |
Lethal damage and nonlethal damage are identical unless it is the final blow struck. If the final blow is nonlethal then the creature is unconscious rather than dead.

Sorry for the confusion, I did not phrase that quite right. Yes combat ended with Astrid's last attack. Meaning Celister did not go unconcious, Umbral did not use a soothe scroll, Quinilone did not use an alchemist fire, and Astrid did not turn to stone!
Oh wait, Astrid reroll with hero point. so she didn't turn to stone anyway. OH well. ...Astrid did not use a hero point. While I am not out to get anyone, I enjoy the combat more when there is an actual threat to the party.

The combat over, the Pathfinders find themselves in a beautiful courtyard, over the bodies of three dead spider-lizard thingies and a statue that was supposed to be their emissary. A whistle in this distance, easier to hear now that combat is over, is answered by another this one closer. Soon a half dozen iruxi wearing gleaming brass breastplates over dark blue robes arrive, announcing that they heard a disturbance and came as quickly as they could. Their leader steps forward looking at the dead beasts, the heavily armed Pathfinders.
"I am Captain Hazar, Ekkeshikaar City Guard," he says in common. "Can someone explain to me what is happening here?"
Celister |
Celister winces several times as he is treated by Quin. He looks to the guards as they approach. ”Yeah, your—urgh—pets got loose and—gah—nearly killed me!—OW! NEEDLE!”
Man, I hope I don’t offend them by assuming they were pets, but that's what Celister would assume.

She turns to Captain Hazar.
"It looks as though someone has decided to redecorate the room and eliminate the emissary at the same time."
She gestures towards the rocky emissary. Then turns back to the captain and takes off her helmet.
"I'm not sure if drugs are illegal here but it looks as though she's stoned."

I'm guessing Arcana is the skill needed here but it might be nature or even occultism. Astrid has Arcana +10, Nature +5 and Occultism +11. She will cast Guidance before making the check.
Yuck. So that is Arcana 15, Nature 10 or Occultism 16

"Would you like assistance finding where these creatures came from?"
Quinoline Silicate |
Quinoline rolled a 25 Nature. She uses her dagger to slice open the warm basilisk's veins, and collects 1d3 ⇒ 1 vials of blood to coat the statue.
"Schist, I was hoping to get more than one vial so that I can study it later," she bemoans.
"Shale we follow the tracks?"
Pyotr Tinskin |
"Perhaps basilisks are more common to your lands," Pyotr says, throwing all his talk of knowing these creatures on its head. He ambles after the tracking iruxi. "Why else would they be running loose? We could rectify our errors with a preemptive attack."

Celister glares at Quin and puts up a single finger. "One more of those and I deck you."

Captain Hazar looks a little surprised when Astrid says she wants to get to the bottom of this. "Agreed, and that is what we are good at," he says waving at his officers.
Holmgeir is proficient, and he tracks one of the creatures through the garden. The trail leads him to a hidden corner, where an unlocked animal cage sits open. As the pathfinders are examaning the cage one of the officers, the woman someone called Droidx, strolls up.
"An unlocked animal cage?" she asks then nods at the answer. "We found two more hidden in various locations throughout the garden. She nods again, this time in approval. "Nice work though."
