In combat, Izlin traditionally uses his Flight Hex to get above the action as he casts touch spells and/or BANE on his dagger and throws them at the enemy. Unfortunately, Izlin has no way to throw without provoking, so the front line position is not optimal for dealing damage.
No 'trapspotter', but an okay Perception and good Disable Device.
As far as buffs, I can memorize Invisibility, but usually do not. Just about every spell is offensive in nature.

Mivvy will shortly complete her latest mission and should be level 8 by gameday, I will update her info once the lastest chronicle is in.

As we're less than two weeks to go before we get started, figured I'd post for those of you I haven’t GM’ed before, to give you an idea of what you can expect from me. I don’t pretend to know everything when it comes to Pathfinder rules; most of you likely have been playing longer and know the rules better than I. Several of you are GMs that I've played under...and I realize you're better GMs than I. If, more likely when, I err, call me on it as you see it and I’ll fix it; I have no qualms about retconning if I screw something up. You won’t hurt my feelings as I like to think I don’t have too much of an ego. By rule of thumb, I’ll retcon if my mistake is detrimental to the PC/party; if my mistake is beneficial to the PC/party, I tend to not retcon unless I catch it fairly quickly. I also try to give my NPCs a bit of flavor when the opportunity presents itself. My main goal is that everyone will enjoy themselves and have fun.
As a GM, I usually post at least two or three times a day, sometimes more, and I try to keep things moving along. I don’t expect that much posting from my players, although you’re welcome to do so if you are able to and wish to. I’d appreciate if you could post at least once a day and once over the weekends. Real life comes first though so please let me know, if possible, when you may have a hard time posting. If I have to bot you, I’ll check your profile for botting instructions; lacking that, I’ll bot you conservatively equally considering the best interests of the character and the party. I don't like to delay characters while in combat as that can be detrimental to the rest of the party...
As far as initiative goes during combat...for those players in the same initiative block, I usually play things out in post order as opposed to initiative order as I’ve found that moves the combat along more quickly. But if it’s a situation where it’s more beneficial to the party to play the block in initiative order, I will do so.
Looking forward to running y’all through this scenario...

When we get to within a week of starting, aka around next Tuesday, I'll make an 'unofficial' introductory post so you can introduce your characters to one another and roleplay as you wish. Then we should be ready for a shotgun start come the following week, on September 1st...

![]() |

Before we begin, I have a few things to do with Mivvy.
1. Retrain a feat (400gp & 5pp)
2. Sell my +1 rapier
3. Upgrade my adamantine rapier to +1
Name: GeraintElberion
Character Name: Mivvy Hetherington
PFS #: 3812-2
Faction: Sovereign Court
Class: Swashbuckler 6, Bard 2

Party Review
Tad = Cleric 7, squishy, minty breath
Umbrato = Arcane Trickster 8, can kick your butt with a rolled-up newspaper
Aeliah = Druid 7, squishy, summons and blasts, juggles crocodiles
Hamish = Bard 7, buffs, high AC, member of Sunn O)))
Izlin = Magus/Monk/Occultist 9, flying, knife man, cooler than you
Mivvy = Swashbardler 8, stabs things, dresses well

![]() |

Oooh, nice. I had to google that but I concur Hamish does tend to drift in that musical direction.
I went ahead and put Miivy, Hamish and Umbrato in the marching order per their wishes. I don't think we have a trapfinder, so going with the voluntarily leading high-ish perception Miivy will have to do.
Miivy, Hamish has your back and will happily try to help you stab things that need stabbing.
I'm also looking forward to in character introductions, I have a feeling this group will have some decent RP.

![]() |

I too look forward to this. I suspect this is going to be quite the interesting group!
I'm all about trying to disable traps, but alas I am unlikely to find them. I wish you luck Aeliah. ;-)

![]() |

"Aeliah find traps good for party, Tricksy-Man."
Stonily faced, the druidess nods.
"Can let you take from there ... maybe even throw you crocodile to help, if ask nicely."

![]() |

It's a week away till we officially start, so I just submitted an introductory post in the Gameplay thread so you can introduce your characters to each other and role-play, as you wish, until then...

Just in case anyone is worried, although we live an ocean and a continent apart, I have met Izlin IRL, am amazed by the things we have in common and consider him a good friend.
-- Which gives him the perfect opening to claim not to know me!
Have at it, brother! ;)

An ocean away because the restraining order won't allow you any closer after PiazoCon 2018!
JK. Lots of love my friend. Missing you immensely.

![]() |

Great roleplaying in the Gameplay thread. The opening of Gameday is close upon us; on EST, they usually officially open things up the night before. If so, I'll try to make the starting post some time this evening, if not, it'll be tomorrow morning (EST)...

![]() |

Loving the sound track. It brings back such memories. Well selected!

![]() |

Sorry, very busy day at work as we had a bad DC knockin' all of our servers offline...will try to get a post up within a couple of hours or so...
Aeliah's ploy should have the desired effect... ;)

![]() |

Some residual storms from the hurricane that hit the Gulf Coast has knocked out my internet. Will post when it comes back up...

![]() |

No worries. Please be safe.

![]() |

Ugh!
So sorry, I have been unable to sign into paizo's site since it went down around Tuesday.
I will catch up in gameplay and get ready to contribute, assuming I don't get locked out again.

![]() |

Hi guys, Aeliah wanted me to tell you all that they are still suffering from connectivity issues to the Paizo site.
Druids and technology, am I right?

![]() |

Hello all, I have some scheduled time off starting tomorrow (kicking into gear tonight with prep) to help my wife out as we are expecting our next child. If things go as roughly planned, I'll be back after this weekend to continue gaming.
Go ahead and bot my PC. They should have updated instructions in their profile. I may get small moments in the next few days to post, so don't be surprised if quick comments or actions pop in randomly.
Hamish's first round (if it won't provoke) will be to Cast Good Hope on the group and begin Inspire Courage.

![]() |

Roger that, Hamish, no worries; I'll bot you as directed. Congratulations on your soon to be new edition!

I play a lot of summoning casters.
And I just realised, that's Summon Nature's Ally, so you don't get the celestial template at all, that's just for Summon Monster. Unless you have some cool ability that lets you apply it to SNA?
Aeliah is my first dedicated summoner of any level in any version of the game. So thanks for those points.
Let’s see what I was thinking … and how I can prepare a remedy for GM Otha’s consideration.
>> The asterisked* passage<< is what I read misunderstood to confuse me about the celestial template.
22 to hit flat-footed
4 damage
12 to hit flat-footed
6 damage
23 to hit flat-footed
6 damage
4 to hit flat-footed
3 damage
16 to hit flat-footed
5 damage

![]() |

I'm not that familiar with summoners but from what I've read, Mivvy is correct. That passage you cited is confusing...but I did notice that none of the creatures in the SNA tables there were marked with an asterisk (when I checked the summon monster table, looked like all of 'em were)...
So I'll go with your modified numbers above; and just a note, the demon isn't considered flat-footed as it took out Xersus in a surprise round...

![]() |

Smite is a rule I got wrong but I figured it out from using herolab.
Just scratching my head and wondering why the HL numbers were so different to mine, that got me googling and flipping through books.
There’s a lot of details to sort through (like augment summoning and harrowed summoning not stacking) but I love the flexibility.

![]() |

I make the augmented deinonychus hit points, summoned by a Saurian Shaman equal to:
34 std
+(4 x 2) augmented
+7 (temp for Saurian Shaman levels)
--
49 hp, so 51 *POPS* it.

![]() |

UGH! Found an error in my calculation of the latest summons’ hit points, GM Otha.
Saurian Shaman level hit points are only added to dinos and reptiles.
Ted’s hit points = 28 hp + ferocity, Con 21

@GM Otha, I would also like to do a little shopping if I may.
@Mivvy, There are a number of symbols I have found in Microsoft Word® that one can insert in Paizo messageboard threads – including PbP.
I am using Word 2013, running on Windows 8.1 but it probably works on other versions as well *shrug*
So on the top ribbon go INSERT → SYMBOL → MORE SYMBOLS
There will be a picklist window in the top left. Left-click the ↓ ‘down arrow thingy’ and scroll up and down until you see a font you want to try. There are HEAPS to choose from. My faves are MS Gothic and Segoe UI Symbol.
Now, not all of these symbols work on Paizo’s messageboards. Also I have seen some show up fine on a Windows based PC but not on IPad and vice versa. It’s a bit of trial-and-error to see what works and what doesn’t, but you’ll work out the patterns pretty quickly with practise.

Hello peeps,
I’d like to do some shopping for the next encounter (and beyond), as I don’t think summoned critters allow Aeliah to pull her weight.
She’s got 1700gp + 2PP.
I was thinking:
- scroll of freedom of movement (for 700gp) Aeliah also has this in a spell slot.
- scroll of 2x cure serious wounds (CL 5, 750gp)
- oils of bless weapon (50 go each, though Aeliah already carries 3)
- scroll of life bubble, or I prepare it in a 4th level slot
These are all designed to keep Izlin, Mivvy and Umbrato up and fighting.
@Tad, have you considered preparing an unbreakable heart or two at first level?
Unfortunately, it’s not on the druid spell list and a 1st level scroll would be pretty much useless.
Thoughts are welcome!

![]() |

I am a HUGE fan of Life Bubble. What I am wondering is about more mental defense. We have already seen charm and possession. This feels like a potentially dangerous game of PvP via Domination. Any ideas on preventing that possibility?

![]() |

protection from evil.
You can also have one person with Magic circle against evil (whoever has the best saves) and then if something eliminates the protection, they can move within 10 feet and give another chance.

Druids have some good battlefield control spells.
Ash Storm can ruin life for a ranged enemy (blocks all sight and creates difficult terrain) as can sleet storm.
Obsidian flow can disrupt melee foes.
You also have protection from energy.
Silverlight can be great if we think foes will be vulnerable to silver, if not daylight is great. And Brightest Light is amazing.
You have access to dispel magic too.
Regarding summoning, it can be great but is feat-hungry.

![]() |

OK, I have decided on:
- scroll of magic circle against evil CL5 Are you OK to carry & cast this, Tad? (375gp)
- scroll of cure serious wounds CL5 (375 gp)
- scroll of life bubble CL7 (2 PP)
- scroll of freedom of movement CL7 (700gp)
For a total of 1450gp + 2PP
Aeliah also has several CMW, dispel magic and another freedom of movement memorized.

![]() |

I'm waiting to see what we learn from the demonologist but will definitely get oil of bless weapon and potion of PfE.

![]() |

I'm on a planned trip to **Capital City** this weekend, but will have WiFi and my IPad so should be OK to post at least daily.

![]() |

I think it more likely you've been working those webbed, green fingers to the bone for the benefit of others, Tad ;)
I have played a support/healer cleric from level 1-14
I'd suggest prepping 2 x unbreakable heart, and at least one liberating command in your first level slots.
Also, how about preparing a dispel magic and magic circle against evil in your 3rd level spots? I'll also give you a scroll of magic circle against evil to carry & cast.
If you're keen to spend 100gp, I'd buy two oils of bless weapon and give one to Mivvy and one to Umbrato.
If you're SUPER-keen, I'd buy a scroll of freedom of movement for 700gp, which Aeliah can cast on Umbrato. (I have another scroll + spell slot to cast the spell on Izlin & Mivvy)

![]() |

Tad, as a level 7 cleric, I would suggest Blessings of Fervor and Prayer.
Mivvy would also benefit from Weapon of Awe: she has a high crit range and will be using oil of bless weapon to auto-confirm crits, stacking shaken on top of her crits would be great.
