Pressing deeper into the cavern, there seems to be a dull glow coming from further in. As you get closer, the buzzing sound also grows louder and louder, as well as the sheer volume of insects flitting in and out of the cave increases.

assuming you guys would at least give some caution to moving and trying to avoid engaging when you can, we'll just skip the first combat.

Multiple passageways within the walls and ceiling provide access to a large cavern. Its resin-encrusted surfaces gleam with slick layers of translucent slime, reflecting a pulsating purple glow from the southeast tunnel.

In the center of the chamber, a much, MUCH larger creature sits. Clicking mandibles, the beast slowly rotates her head to face the heroes. Emitting a screeching sound, several of the smaller bugs begin to pour into the room.

These are Vescavors. Shocked I know. Typically CE Diminutive outsider (chaotic, evil, extraplanar, swarm).

1. Ravenous (Ex) Vescavors can devour nearly anything. If the swarm attacks an object or structure, the vescavors ignore its hardness if it is made of any substance other than adamantine. Additionally, every round that a creature is in the same space as the swarm, the vescavors begin devouring one object on the creature—if the vescavor swarm is not under the control of a vescavor queen. Once the vescavors choose an item in this way, they continue to devour that same item until it is destroyed. The object takes half its maximum hit points in damage and gains the broken condition. If the vescavors attack an object with the broken condition, it is destroyed. An attended or magic object can make a Reflex save to negate this effect.

The queen seems to sit for a moment, though her chittering persists.

Yellow and Blue advance, with yellow seeming to be drawn to Darius.

need 3 will saves from Darius (with an add'l one from Tak first), 2 from Pyro and Salvatore, and 1 from WalMir vs the Confusion effect (DC15 from the swarms, DC20 from the Queen.

Yellow begins to gnaw on the paladin, while blue snatches at the little arcanist.

Sal passes his saves and fires off some cold at the swarms, but the first spell fizzle out harmlessly. The one that hits however, deals significant damage. Even more extreme than the emotional kind, and the swarms are defeated. forgot to apply the extra last round due to aoe effects

WalMir successfully passes his save against the confusion.

Darius manages to ward off most of the negative effects, but feels the madness slip into his mind. With the droning of the insects, he ends up slapping himself in the face. Hard.

WalMir casts his spell and prepares for the future. Pyro throws a small gout of flame at the insect momma, but the effect fizzle. Her chittering however seems to take on a renewed vigor, as the spell that had befuddled her mind is broken.

As her wounds slowly begin to knit themselves, she unleashes her fury on Darius, biting and clawing, leaving him, much like his armor, broken. She then moves closer to her next target.

The spell settles over the queen, but her chittering does not stop, and she seems to quickly attune to the reflected sounds, orienting towards the shuffling of Darius on the ground, and Tak, considering his life choices and debating on if he should bolt or not from this close combat situation. When Pyro throws his blast, she quickly shifts in his direction as well, preparing for the impact. The flames hit, but seem to be almost completely ineffective.

WalMir pokes at the queen as she moves, but his strike falls way short. He then moves into range for his spell and touches the paladin with his healing magics. i've gotten so used to 2e heals that i forgot that in 1e they are touch not ranged.

Darius also missed with his extra chance at dealing damage then chases after to strike. since you need to move, you would not be able to atteck twice -normally-. or is that you rolling again for a smite? she was identified and is an evil outsider... so... just lemme know what you're doing here.
