Seeing how effective her words have been with the Black Marquis, Mivvy smiles, "Well, let's get off then. We've only got an hour before our ship sails and I would like to do some shopping," She slips her arm around Orst's, "It wouldn't do for a young lady to step out alone. Accompany me and I will buy us both a drink."

"Come along now everyone, out, out, out!" Mivvy does her best to shoo everyone out of the Marquis' presence before he can try to screw any more money out of Orst.

You do know that there are scenarios where you lose money on your chronicle if you don't find all of the treasure? I really don't want to have our chronicle GP halved because some paladins are a bit too interested in legal niceties.

"Now, I am going to buy myself a piece of beautiful jewellery, come along everyone."

Truddig, quiet as usual, simply nods as the group seems ready to head out. He joins the quick shopping expedition and picks up a couple of vials of antitoxin, then joins the others at the ship.

Once they are out of the door, Orst gently removes the ladies hand from his arm. "I hope you are right about him dealing honestly. I just don't want return and get our book as payment. Then be told to turn over everything else while 50 crossbows are pointed at us and then being told to swim back to daggermark for all the Black Marquis cares."
Orst jaw is clinched and his face and ears are red.
He shakes his head and goes to find an vender for an everburning torch then he moves to board the boat as fast as possible.


After making some final purchases, you all reach the Scrag Fisher, a 50’ long, single-masted vessel rigged with a lugsail. Lady Riverbane and several able-bodied sailors are already on board, preparing for departure.

"Welcome aboard," she says. "I want to find out what happened to the missing men and get payback on those abominations. You're landlubbers, and I don't expect you to undertake any sailing duties while on board. But do remember I'm the captain of this ship, and when you're on this it, you'll take my orders. If you don't like it, you can step right back on the docks."

That's fine with me, Captain Riverbane. Muddy says as he gives what appears to be somewhat of a salute, trying to be respectful.
I just need a nice spot to view the river and the banks as we sail. I like to enjoy the scenery. With a grin, he heads towards the bow, sets his pack down, and sits on the edge of the bow with his webbed feet dangling over the edge.

Orst, May I suggest an ioun torch? It leaves both hands free. Also, remember that everburnjng torches aren’t hot and don’t set fire to webs. We’ll need regular torches for that.


Since it left Deadbridge, the Scrag Fisher has been cutting a straight furrow into the lazy waters of the Sellen River, making good speed thanks to its industrious crew actively manning the ship’s sails and ropes.

Deadbridge is already far behind when an exclamation rises: ]b]“Sail Ho!”[/b]

One of the robust soldiers points ahead while turning toward Lady Riverbane standing at the helm: “It’s a cog, Milady. And it flies no colors--should we tender these trespassers?”

Looking at the incoming vessel, she answers in a stern voice: “Nay! Not today, man. We have our mission. We’ll stick to it.”

Without another word, the crew gets back to working the hawser and lanyards.

The two ships draw closer, and the other craft’s pitiful state becomes obvious: with planks and riggings missing in places, sailors frantically move about the deck and appear to have difficulty steering their ship.

But as the two ships narrowly avoid collision and pass alongside each other, a shout rises--“Now!”--followed by a volley of grappling hooks from the other vessel. The Scrag Fisher is under attack!

I messed up on the final attack. No deadly aim or rapid shot so it should just be +10 to hit, I think. Meh, I'll go with what I rolled above and will remember for the future.

A volley of arrows fall onto the Scrag Fisher as some of the attackers return fire! Simultaneously another pirate extends a narrow boarding plank between the two ships to allow three of his allies to cross! Their bodies look strangely blurry as they swing gleaming scimitars as Truddig and Mivvy!

Six of the pirates are shooting, one at each PC. Orst, you get cover because you're partially behind the mast.

One pirate is swinging a scimitar at Truddig, and two are swinging at Mivvy.

Mivvy, you get hit by one arrow for 10 points of damage and one scimitar for 9 points of damage. Truddig, you get hit by one arrow for 6 points of damage and critically hit by a scimitar for 16 points of damage. All other attacks missed.

If you decide to cross the boarding plank, it takes a DC 5 Acrobatics check. If you decide to jump the gap between the ships, it takes a DC 10 Acrobatics check.

All of the pirates are under the effect of blur potions. You can go ahead and roll the miss chance yourself if you'd like: roll a 1d100 and count a result of 1-20 as a miss.

Please keep your taglines updated throughout the encounter if you take damage, cast buffs, etc. It makes my life much easier!

With a roar of joy for the battle that was taking place, Khugron's arms started to elongate, causing him to be able to reaching across the ship to the attackers, where the glaive disemboweled the first pirate and then continued to the second.

Riddwipple meanwhile conjures up a grease slick and flaps down behind the hull of the boat!

Inspire Courage is up for a +2/+2, which stacks with Constantin's flag to be a total of +3/+3 to attacks and damage in a mixture of morale and competence bonuses


One of the pirates slips in the conjured grease and hits the deck hard!

Another volley of arrows from the Pathfinder's grippli member streak toward the pirates, and two of the bandits collapse.

Muddy, you're not getting sneak attack damage anymore (since they're not flat-footed), but you still do enough damage to take out two of the pirates.


Although their numbers have been halved, the bloodthirsty corsairs continue their assault! "Argh, more booty for the rest of us!" one shouts. One of the pirates edges out of the greased planks and slashes towards Orst, while another decides to just fight from the ground and chops at Mivvy's legs! Three more pirates, still on the other ship, loose arrows at the terrifying nagaji Pathfinder.

Meanwhile, Lady Riverbane emerges from behind the mast holding a silver-tipped wand and fires spheres of magical energy at some of the foes that have already been dropped.

5' step and scimitar attack on Orst, scimitar attack (with -4 penalty for being prone) on Mivvy, and three arrow attacks on Khugron.

Only one of the attacks hits, an arrow that grazes Khugron for 1 point of damage.

Take 2 of Orst attack
Orst, having a flash back of another battle that he apparently did terrible in, snaps back into real time. He spits the guts and blood of the recently vaporized pirate out of his face. He steps forward towards the stern of the adjacent boat dropping his swords to the deck. He pulls a javelin and throws it at the blue brigand.
