with shield of faith + shield up, wouldn't those 32s be misses?

The Waking Rune

I assumed a charge of Shield from the wand, but not Shield of Faith. The previous casting would have expired.

The Waking Rune

It looks like Quiella has plenty of level 1 oracle slots left, so I am happy to say she used one on Shield of Faith when you were preparing to return to talk to the sphinxes. Damage retconned.

By the narrowest of margins, Quiella deflects most of the attacks of the protean.

I didn't make it clear in my earlier post, but the grab is only with the tail attack - since that missed, no grab attempt happens.

Lifelink should have been marked on Nina too, yes.

Quiella heals, but her sword blows fail to connect. The protean in its true form is better protected.

Nina manages to hit home with her lance, but the blow does little damage. Pai's knowledge check has told you that the protean resists weapons that are not Lawful. Almost as soon as the lance is withdrawn the wound heals. Fast healing.

Perhaps the magic-users will have more joy?

Seldanna's head swims, full of sound and colour that just doesn't belong, but in a moment of clarity she targets the protean with her most powerful hex.

She manages to wound the protean again.

Nina's lance pierces the strange fluid flesh of the imentesh, but upon being withdrawn there hardly seems any injury at all. Her archon's sword gleams brightly, but its wielder is overenthusiastic and his blow goes well wide.

Fort DC23 vs Agony, evil eye: 1d20 + 12 - 4 ⇒ (6) + 12 - 4 = 14

The protean is so badly debuffed that I'm calling the fight now, even without misfortune sticking.

Between the two gnomish knights, the archon's telling blows, Seldanna's debilitating witchcraft and Pai's dazing fireworks, the bound protean is left vulnerable and quickly finished off.

Teric sits up, his mortal wound healed, just as the protean falls.

"Geeze..." Nina puffs as the protean finally falls. She looks around for a moment and then slaps her archon buddy on the back. "Thanks pal, that would've taken forever without your help!"

The little gnome turns back towards the group just in time to see Teric suddenly sit up; she shrieks with surprise and maybe even a little fear!

"WHAT!? Teric!? Are you a zombie now!?"

The Waking Rune

It is safe to rest now. But don't forget you have yet to explore the "cursed" vault. (I've revealed it on the map).

Teric blinks and then stands up. He stretches his neck a bit and winces at the wounds he still has. "My, that was uncomfortable. But I suppose that's why you purchase insurance."

Teric looks over to Nina. "A zombie? Nonsense! In fact, I would appreciate some healing. No, my dear. I'm as alive as you are though it will not last. The specifics are complicated, but I have secured a bit more time with you. Suffice to say, I can help us get the rune plate and get out of this damned place. Hopefully we can get back to Absalom before my condition reverts. At that point, I would trust the Society to return me to life. But good work on destroying the guardians." He glances over the bodies. "Did I miss something? Why do we have a bunny here and why does it look so shifty?"

He searches the fallen guardians for anything useful before pulling out his healing wand to fix his wounds.

"Yeah, uh...things got kinda weird," Nina admits as she pads over to pick up what looks like a small plushie version of their archer companion. "Daedin, uh...this is Daedin. Do you think you can dispel this or should we just wait for it to wear off? I think it'll wear off...just not sure when."

The Waking Rune

I'm going to assume that you rest now - there are no more monsters here to assail you, and nothing else can get in.

As you recuperate and count what strength you have left, Quiella sets about mending your wounds. You make a camp, as best you can.

Some of you leaf through the many books displayed on the shelves. All of them are complex, dealing with esoteric subjects and written in dozens of different languages. Undoubtedly they would have some value to collectors or Society scholars.

After a couple of hours the spell that transformed Daedîn thankfully wears off, and the elf is restored to you.

Some hours later, your wounds all healed and your spells refreshed, you make ready to explore the last part of the demiplane...

I'll pause here until you all tell me that you're ready to go on.

"You just spent the last several hours as a plush toy," Nina answers matter-of-fact, though there seems to be a slight blush creeping across her features. "Thanks to that stupid sphinx...or wait, was it the protean that did that? Well anyway, glad to have you back! Teric is back too, somehow - something about a pact. But he seems to be okay, which is good."

A pause.

"Um, now would you mind getting up?"

Later, after everyone has rested, Nina goes about reconjuring Inky who appears just as she was when she was dismissed - terribly wounded, but stable. Once the eidolon's wounds have been mended and she's been brought up to speed on what she missed, Nina goes about granting them both their usual magical boosts and protections.

"Okay, ready to go! Let's find those plates and get the heck outta here!"

Nina will cast an extended Barkskin & Heroism on herself, an extended Barkskin on Inky, and Mage Armor on Inky~

Teric uses his wand to heal himself of his remaining wounds, then snaps his fingers and an invisible force tidies up the area, moving the dead bodies and cleaning and area for them to spend the evening. It tends to Teric most of the evening, fetching food and other items for him, then laying out his bedroll and tucking him in.

In the morning, Teric preps some of his usual protections. Then he layers on a few more intent that he should finish this expedition. "So, about those rune plates..."

The Waking Rune

Whilst it's hard to sleep in a demiplane that looks like it's made of melted wax, nevertheless you get some rest and refresh your powers.

Daedîn leads you down the last unexplored corridor to a new chamber.

The walls and floor of this square room are fashioned from massive blocks of stone, and the room is laid out like a small shrine; across from the entrance stands a low table bearing a stack of reddish metal plates stacked in a loose pile. A luxurious carpet bearing geometric designs stretches across the middle of the room. In the rug’s centre is a three foot-high marble pedestal holding a dark polished stone sphere. Thassilonian script of inlaid gold encircles the sphere at its base.

Thassilonian:
The script reads: “I proclaim my eternal devotion to the everlasting realm of Haruka, to the power of sloth, and to my runelord. I shall use the powers over my servitors to serve greatest Krune.”

Speak the Vow of Service. Lay your hand upon me. Swear to use the Words of Power to awaken Runelord Krune. And I shall grant you dominion over all servitors.

The voice speaks from everywhere and nowhere, and somehow your attention is drawn to the dark sphere upon the pedestal. As you gaze upon it, you almost feel that it gazes also upon you.
