Bubbles telepathically pings his thoughts back at Peter.

I’ll tell to her this, but once she gets an idea into her head, changing her mind can be like trying to wrestle a river. Hold on.

A few moments later Bubbles once again relays a message.

Good news, bad news. Molly will wait while you explore the buildings but is excited about the idea that we might get ambushed. She asks if it is possible that the buildings are Mimics. I believe she now wants to fight a building.

Molly reaches up to the corner, but sees nothing inside the square but the tinkling fountain of water showing over the geese of ice, a small mist rising from the water as it crashes into the surface of the fountain basin. You also just barely hear the sound of a liquid dripping that sounds further away than the fountain, but you're not sure what it could be.

Peter and anyone else who takes a look at the doors realizes that they are frozen shut and covered in a good layer of ice, it'd take some impressive strength to force them open and any opened door would be fairly obvious, and none of the doors you've seen have been forced.

He and Sentry are able to spot a giant lurking out of view from where Molly is standing, staring down the way that the woman is coming from, wiping a bit of drool from his mouth. The giant is clearly waiting to charge at Molly when she gets into an advantageous position, axe at the ready and a less than sane look in his eyes.

Peter tells Bubbles that there is litle chance of a mimic not being frozen to death here, in case that convinces the daredevil that there is nothing to worry about fighting a building, yet. Though the temptation to give you one to fight, oof!

Peter, finally get a good sight of the giant, remembers a treatise he'd read a few years ago dealing with a creature that a Kellid tribe in Sargava was plagued with. They were loathe to name it but the creature, described as a floating man with the head of an animal commonly an elk, and dead lifeless staring eyes, and no lower legs. The creature infected people with a psychosis that slowly wore at the victim's will with canabalistic urges, driving them to ultimately eat another of their kind. When they do the cursed individual would then turn into another of he creatures.

The treatise also showed drawings of the corpse of someone who'd been infected and then had to be put down. It showed some similar warping of limbs. The author speculated this might be precursors to the final transformation but wasn't sure. There was also speculation that it seemed to strike the person in the tribe with the highest morals and most likely to abhor his actions in the end.

The giant was suffering from a w*ndigo's curse. But hadn't gone and eaten another giant so hadn't transformed completely

Peter offers I am quite resistant to cold, perhaps I should do your little experiment Molly? The invisible Peter, rather than the illusionary one takes the yogurt and dips it, and returns Molly her frozen yogurt. Afterwards he has the illusion let out a hearty chuckle and agrees Sounds like a plan Purs.

Just don't go swimming in the fountain! That would overcome your cold resistance with no trouble!

Off to the east proves to be more and more houses, though there's nothing further that attacks or even moves in the area, assuming you avoid the clock again. You do see a passage way that extends back down into the bowels of the Veil, #1 on the map though it seems like you might have to bust down a few doors to get there.

Though as you come near a set of doors you find a lone snow drift that has formed here, some vagaries of the wind seems to deposit the powder here every now and then. In the drift though are two sets of humanoid foot prints, one heading into the doors that with a closer look are broken open, and another set coming out of the place. These are too small to be Hingarl's and a close look from Peter proves they are probably the foot prints of a human woman. #2 on the maps

Exploring the rest of the eastern part of the necropolis shows little else but houses for the dead, until you walk past one of the rare second story buildings in the area and you find a few streaks of blood. investigating you find what must have been Hingarl's lair. The door to the room has been jerked free and then set back down to make it look like it's closed, inside the shattered remains of what must have been two biers made of ice scatter the floor, along with a variety of mundane gear. Quite a bit of the room is a dull brown, relatively fresh blood and gnawed vicera littering the place. A close look even reveals chewed on remains of two different desiccated corpses, probably the two that had been on the biers. #3 on the map

Alright, there's still three paths here, West and North from earlier and now the new Eastern-North

@GM, did Pete find anything magical on the giant? Obviously there's the flaming battleaxe.

Whoops! Yes there were somethings.

Peter finds that the battle axe and the breastplate that Hingarl was holding were both magical. The battleaxe proves to be a +1 flaming burst battle axe with the name Burnbrand engraved down the shaft of the weapon. The breastplate covered in wolf motifs proves to be a Breastplate of Command, but sadly the giant armor is probably not going to fit anyone without some magical aid.

Wow that was cold. I don’t know if this stuff is going to do anything, but at least I have some magic water. Unless it was the fountain that was magic. Hmm.

“Colder than I thought, but worth it. I hope. Hey Gillian, want some frozen yogurt?”

Yes Bubbles I’m keeping up with everyone. Stop worrying.

ARGH dangit! I could have sworn I had typed something further about these foot prints. So sorry to leave you waiting.

The foot prints seem to be leading into and out of the ground floor door that might lead back to the way down further into the Veil. A close look at the door proves that the frozen seal on it has been busted in the past month at least, possibly sooner, as it has yet to reseal with snow or the slowly rebuilding frost of the Veil itself.

If you open the door:
Breaking a little frost off the 'hinges' of the door, it gives a shard scraping noise as it drags on the ground. Inside the room there is nothing to be found, the other room that Hingarl had set up in had two biers built into it, where as this has nothing but another door leading off to the left.

Molly looks toward where the the stairs lead and heads in that direction. She feels Bubbles gently squeeze on her chin and she stops to make sure she is not walking off on her own.

“If there was anything on this floor then a hungry giant would have either taken it or eaten it. I think we should head down. Unless you want me to rip all the doors out of the buildings. That could also be fun.”
