Ah... I thought the body was here with me. I got confused! Also, I did not quite understand what initiative meant to the folks in the seasonal landscapes!
GM Doug H |
Understandable. It's a weird setup and I appreciate you and Keats keeping things moving.
Pip Hip Hooray |
Also... How much damage did I actually take? Are critical successes possible on saves?
GM Doug H |
You took none; it's a normal basic save you crit succeeded on (the scenario designates "4d6" damage on a crit fail instead of "double the listed damage" which is why I rolled twice but everything else about the save functions as usual; I suspect this is an editorial issue and they meant to say "double damage" but I couldn't find anything on the forums about that).
This will be reflected in-game on my next update, which will happen tonight after Packet posts.

Packet has to bathe and put the kids to bed IRL, but will try to post in an hour or so!
Also, happy pride all!

Edited my post with Zarindlara having Winter's key.

So it looks like Packet is only Trained in Thievery if my math is correct.
+4 Dex, +3 Level +2 Trained = +9. Should be +11 if he were expert.
I’m not sure what his second expert skill is, Stealth is one of them but it isn’t obvious what the other is.
Gurmire is Expert in Crafting, so he could still do it. Otherwise there are a number of us trained in Nature. Which way do we want to do it?
It is likely there are four traps to deactivate.

Yep. Four traps. They don't all have to be deactivated at once so if only a couple of you can take care of them that's fine.
Varret Aalloissa |
Kate and I have both GMed this, so others should make the plan. That said, I'm happy for Varret to attempt one of the checks if you want him to. Feel free to bot me if needed.

I'm willing to handwaive the remaining trap disarms and say you get the last two in a few tries if you want. I'm not sure constantly rolling is fun for you. You'll get them in a few tries and (probably?) wouldn't crit fail anymore.
Go ahead and roll if you want but if you're willing to move on please speak up about what the next part of the plan is (e.g. follow Pip's plan to use opposite keys and turn them at once, or something else).
Gurmire |
Seven rolls of less than 10, wish I could say that is the worst that dice have treated me.
I would gladly hand wave the rest of the traps.
Now to use some of those daily minor elixirs of life.
Pip Hip Hooray |
I swear, I think all of Gurmire's good dice luck has flowed to Pip this adventure. I'm really sorry. I had no desire to steal it from you!

This adventure has made such an impression on Pip that I've been considering taking Bhopan Lore through Additional Lore -- but I am terrified that I would never again get to use that Lore outside of this set of adventures.
GM Doug H |
I will be botting Varret and Zarindlara. I will then post another round from the baddies. Hope this isn't moving too fast; feel free to partake in some combat some repartee.
GM Doug H |
It looks like you're dropping in a template at the same time as me, Gurmire. I'll let you do it.
Edit: dropped in one with a bit more contrast against the background, where you put the other one.
GM Doug H |
Zarindlara and Varret can post today. So, no need to bot.
GM Doug H |
NP. Glad everyone is excited to keep this fight moving! Packet, Pip, Gurmire, and Keats are up again.
GM Doug H |
I just edited my post.
I got confused and thought Lelzeshin was up again for some reason. We're back at the top by my count.
GM Doug H |
Let's keep any discussions of GM errors like missing a crit in the discussion forum please; I prefer a clean gameplay thread. I have updated the post to double the damage and include Varret's deadly. Lelzeshin is still quite healthy, luckily this is more of an accounting fix than a narrative one.
Thank you for catching that!
Pip Hip Hooray |
With your request for a pause, I will wait for a post before posting my actions this morning.
Hmm
GM Doug H |
OK. Updated. The enemy has a special reaction he can use if he gets crit. He couldn't use this on Varret's crit because he had already used Nimble Dodge to avoid having his movement debuffed.
Please proceed!

Varret sighs as he shifts position. "Continue this needless fight on to your doom, apparently. I had hoped to avoid any more death today."
As Lelzeshin: That's what you'd think, but as a scholar of history I can tell you that the ancient tome titled "Scenario 1-16" dictates that all Bhopanese stewards must fight to the death!

Hey all... I thought you might want to see this survey that Paizo put together asking about playing skill checks in scenarios in an online environment. They mention the masquerade sequence in Perennial Crown specifically.
GM Doug H |
We have completed part one. It ends on a cliffhanger!
You got full rewards and chronicles; I am planning on continuing on to part 2 with this group once everyone is ready (I hope you can all continue!) We will have to do a little suspension of disbelief regarding day jobs and gold, but I'll cover that when we post chronicles.
GM Doug H |
I don't think we ever took care of Earn Income rolls.
Can you roll those and if possible note the result n the slide?
Thanks!
Varret Aalloissa |
Thinks back to teaching battlefield medicine seminars, prior to the trip.
Earn Income, Warfare Lore: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
GM Doug H |
Couple other bookeeping things:
Keats — I need your PFS # and to know whether you want this chronicle to be for a new level 1 character or for a level 3 character (just like 1e, you can take minimum credit.) You will be playing a pregen again so your chronicle can theoretically wait if you need time to decide.
Everyone else: You all got 38 gold, 4 fame/rep for your factions.
Everyone but Zarindlara also got a special boon on their chronicle sheet, as they willingly participated in at least one bloodletting ritual with their own blood. This will have an effect on part 2.
Here is a preview link to the chronicle sheet in the interim, while I work on your actual sheets.
Thanks! This has been a ton of fun so far!

@GM Doug H,
Dunno if PFS 2e allows for pre-gen day jobs like PF1 does for Perform, Profession, Craft if on a pre-gen character's sheet.
I'll make a roll for Lore (Farming) but please ignore if not kosher.
Earn Income, Farming Lore: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Also, if you can apply credit from this game to a new Level 1 PC (min credit method) #69095-2001, that would be grand, thank-you.
Finally, I have been considering changing Keats out for the Champion of Irori 1e PC I lost at ConCurrent (ie. same pre-gen stats sheet, different avatar + personality).
I thought it might be fun to play her one more time. Her personality is very different from Keats', but she's NOT a 'fuss-budget' type paladin champion.
Anyway, if anyone has thoughts on this, or if it breaks continuity and therefore immersion I'm happy to play Keats.
Packet Spoonshine |
Day job:
Underworld Lore: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Some of Packet's clients pay their invoices! The mailbox back at the Sleepy Detective Agency is slowly filling up!
Also, Packet leveled!
Thanks all for the fun game and Doug for running. Awesome as always.
GM Doug H |
The series allows for new characters in part 2 so its fine by me if you have a preference, Keats!
Gurmire |
Wow, quite the cliffhanger! That was unexpected.
See private message about day job.
Lore (Arson) E: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12
Well, that could have been better. Not sure if it means something failed to burn or something burned when I didn’t want it to...
GM Doug H |
I am still missing Earn Income from Pip but she can fill that out herself (or I can amend the PDF if you want).
GM Doug H |
Full disclosure this interstitial scene — it foreshadows part 2 but isn't written in the scenarios; something like this was suggested on the forums as a way to stitch parts 1 and 2 together since part 2 begins directly after the cliffhanger and you will still be trapped in the vault… but as a PFS scenario, you still get to earn income / level up / get healed /0 buy items. It can be a very jarring transition for players who want to willfully suspend their disbelief and enjoy the narrative.
So, we'll suspend our disbelief with a mysterious voice (who you will meet soon!) and some fey magic that bends time and space!
When can we plan on picking up part 2? Packet needs to level up. Perhaps, considering the holiday, we can aim for Monday? (I can do sooner too if you want.)
Pip Hip Hooray |
Lore Legal: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
Pip did not pick up many legal opportunities in Bhopan... I think I earned a few coppers this time?

Typo in your post, GM. I don't think you actually meant Suck Bloodthirst unless there is an actual vampire out there.
Gurmire |
I am fine resuming whenever others are ready. Think I will copy formula from NPCs though...need to read up on that.
At 29+4= 33 XP, so I will not be leveling between the two segments.
Pip Hip Hooray |
Pip is ready to resume whenever you are ready, GM.
Um... How much did I earn from that dismal day job so I can note it on my ITS? I am currently at 30XP, so I will not be leveling.
I would personally miss Keats but would understand if you wanted to play a beloved character one last time.

Pip — 2 CP is the per-day of failure, so .16 Gold at 8 days of downtime.

Pip has updated the backstory on her profile:
Pip’s grandmother, Mahana was a gnomish druid from the Mwangi island of Bhopan, off the shores of Nex. Mahana regaled Pip all through her childhood with tales of animal headed-people, verdant jungles and a fairy king.
The rest of Pip's family were gnomes who had trained badgers in East Gate for generations. When her Uncle Acorn Hooray got sued by a land-grubbing neighbor, Pip successfully defended him by referring to Absalom’s ancient badger lease laws. She soon became obsessed with all aspects of legal work. She currently works as a defense attorney for the Envoy Alliance, helping out Pathfinders in trouble everywhere.

All that pro-bono work with the Envoy's Alliance is really cutting into Pip's bottom line!

Will officially start this afternoon after I run some errands! I know it's a holiday, so if you cannot post today that's fine.
I need t put up a revised chronicle for Gurmire too, which I will do beforehand.
GM Doug H |
I am inclined to treat Antonella as if she has the blood boon from the chronicles as the same player is playing her. Let me know if this is something anyone strongly disagrees with.
