Rokgurn moves the balls of lightning towards the sludge(Green) in an attempt to fry it.

Should I be rolling SR again? It is CL 16 if relevant. Otherwise 23 is the number. Considering the balls are off the map I have a feeling it is all moot anyways. :)

Lightning Reflex 21: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 4) = 11
Lightning Reflex 21: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 3) = 9
Lightning Reflex 21: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 2) = 11
Lightning Reflex 21: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 2) = 11

Like a Pokemon trainer he attempts to capture the last remaining creature (Reflex DC 21). The Aqueous Orb rolls over the Gravesludge and then hopefully brings the trio through the sonic barrier.

Jack moves through the sound curtain in silence before dismissing the spell.

Shortly after – undoubtedly to Arnaut’s delight – eight more Jacks appear!

My bad on moving the ball lightning off the map, Rokgurn. I assumed they were a one and done thing.

The lightning balls descend on greensludge like pirates on fat booty.

Reflex DC 21: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (14) + 15 = 29

They do some damage, but fail to completely fry the mudpie.

Pink and Orange attempt to escape the flooded cell they share.

Orange reflex DC 21: 1d20 ⇒ 14
Pink reflex DC 21: 1d20 ⇒ 3

They fail, suffering an additional NL damage: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 2) = 4

The water-wheel wolls on, attempting to damage and capture the greensludge.

Green reflex DC 21: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (18) + 15 = 33

It also fails, bowling over the greensludge into the sound wall, doing an additional primary sonic damage: 2d6 + 14 ⇒ (6, 4) + 14 = 24 to Orange + Pink and secondary sonic damage: 2d4 ⇒ (4, 1) = 5 to all three oozes.

This causes the greensludge to *EXPLODE* splattering Omrax and the Nine Jacks with a Mudpack of Evil™ And who knows? Perhaps one of them will decide it’s actually *ahem* good for their skin?

From the water bubble, the carnivorous crystals’ subsonic HUMM continues to act, possibly affecting Marta and Jack.

I believe for Arnaut’s Countersong to work, you have to remain within 30’ feet of him.

So unless I’m missing something, Jack and Marta, please make two Fort DC 22 saves or be stunned for 1 round.

Round #4:

technically, dismissing a spell is a standard action on its own. Fyi.

With their sonic vulnerability, seems like just letting them roll in and out of the wall should do the trick.
Can we call it, barring a last ditch reflex save? =)

"Alright, you blaggards! Stand ready!" Hamish calls, waving his fiery sword around dramaticaly.

The Seaward Gull turns in the air, facing the churning orb of water holding the remaining oozes. The sailors all hold themselves ready... the sails fluttering slightly from some unfelt breeze, as if waiting to billow out at a moments notice.

The Gull will stand ready to partial charge if one escapes its watery prison. Ramming it, if it is inside the wall of sound, or harpooning it and attempt to pull it through the wall, if it escapes outside the wall.

Rokgurn weaves his Aqueous Orb in and out of the sonic wall attempting to blow their aberrant minds.

With the forced movement of the orb Rokgurn can move these creatures multiple times through the wall inflicting the primary damage each time. This is a bit on the cheesy side but we really should be calling the fight anyways at this point.

Rokgurn stands ready to move his four balls of electricity on top of any surviving ooze.

From the back, Arnaut gives Jack a slow clap. ”Marvelous,” he comments drolly. ”Truly breathtaking. What exquisite form as he prods a trapped creature. Don’t leave your seats, everyone - up next, he’ll be shooting fish in a barrel. And the fish will be dying of suffocation, so it truly will be a race to see how many sardines our brave warrior can sacrifice to his ego.” The performer’s speech pauses effortlessly so as not to compete with each blast of noise from the orb striking the wall repeatedly.

Marta snaps to attention and snags her spear in midair as the bards music penetrates her foggy brain. The mood coming off of her silly companions seems to make an impact on her too.

"Thanks, Arny. I can call you Arny, can't I?"

Also feeling a bit unneeded, she allows the bane to lapse and moves to the center of the walled in area to join Omrax, stowing her spear and making ready to draw her crossbow, just in case.

"Enjoying the fireworks, friend?" she asks the paladin. "Unless you prefer to wade in and do the wet work yourself?"

Shining the holy lance of light upright as a beacon of righteousness, the knight nods in agreement to Marta.

Aye Marta. I have less concern for the crystal creatures than the abominations of mud and bone. The spells shall finish these.

He pats the neck of Borealis.

But alas, we are not yet complete with our quest and greater evil undoubtedly lies beyond.

Once the last creature drops, he pauses to meditate.

• I will have faith in the Inheritor. I will channel her
strength through my body. I will shine in her legion,
and I will not tarnish her glory through base actions.

• I will be temperate in my actions and moderate in my
behavior. I will strive to emulate Iomedae's perfection.

"Oh, yes, Omrax, most definitely. You can smell the evil down here. Though I'm thinking they need bleach more than heroes for this room. At least now."

Marta eyes the bubble of water and her acid speculatively, though only briefly. It would never work. Indeed, right after finishing her thought, the globe vanishes abruptly as magical manifestation typically do. Quite unreliable.

"In any case, I think I'll take a look around before we go on."

Marta searches through the ooze remains, as usual examining the pieces and parts looking for vulnerabilities and such, adding to her impressive collection on monster lore, and looking for items that might have found their way into the creatures digestive tracts. Then she broadens her search to include the rest of the room in her usual methodical fashion. Not as methodical as she would have liked to considering the time pressures.

Hamish plops down in one of the moldering chairs, pulling a battered metal canteen, and taking a few sips. From his sigh of contentment, you highly doubt it contains water.

Using the starboard rail of the Seaward Gull as a foot rest, he leans back and casually glances around the room.

"Ain't much for decor, for certain."

"Still," He amends, a moment later. "The chairs are surprisingly comfortable."

He stops suddenly, as he says that last, frowning, then reaches underneath him for a moment, feeling around. Eventually he comes up with a jagged piece of bone from some unidentifiable creature.

"And still better than Emir of Shadun's place." He adds, holding up the bone. "At least these ones don't have the flesh still on them."

He tosses the bone to the side. "Nasty piece of work, that Emir."

He continues to sip from his flask, being entirely unhelpful in the search of the room, as he goes on about some incident involving cannibals, strange golden idols, and a pair of haunted manacles.

With a triumphant shout, Shevar Besnik’s voice rings out. “Pathfinders! Together we’ve cleared the remaining wards from the stairway. And together, we’ve beaten back most of the monsters these Catacombs had to throw at us. Who wants to go deeper? I’m sure it’s just as bright and cheery as up here!” The way to the Silent Shrine is clear!

GMs, area C is now open.

Marta and Jack find no items of interest in Hamish’s Sitting Room, except …

Jack:
When you turn over a broken sliver of an Ionic column, you hear a harsh whisper … in your mind.

Marta:
When you turn over a broken sliver of an Ionic column, you hear a harsh whisper … in your mind.

Trust in strength of arms and muscle is for fools! You soon will meet your end, like all others who dared come to these depths …

For tracking effect durations, we'll say it's about 10 minutes between the Catacombs and the Silent Shrine.

The oppressive catacombs eventually open into a large room. Shelves full of books and tables bearing strange equipment decorate sections partitioned off from each other by distance, elevation, and low railings. The ceiling rises to accommodate a multitude of stairways, but only barely for the highest platforms. More oppressive than the gloom of the spire, though, is the pervasive silence pressing on the Pathfinders' ears like a scream in reverse.

Broad stairways to the west and east of the entrance lead to landings featuring two terrifying statues of gods of death, as well as two large skeletal giants drenched in coagulated blood and crowned with silently burning halos of fire.

Immediate action Knowledge (planes) or (religion) DC 20:
The western statue depicts Orcus, Demon Prince of Undeath.

Immediate action Knowledge (planes) or (religion) DC 20:
The eastern statue depicts Charon, First Horseman of the Apocalypse, and demigod of Inevitable Death.

A third huge skeletal colossus, composed of the bones of various other smaller creatures, held together by a crawling carpet of mildew and fungoids stands guard before a third staircase to the south-east.

**OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT**

Back at the caravan of goods following the expedition, Sheila Heidmarch speaks. “It’s time to resupply the front line,” she says to the Pathfinders on caravan duty. “There’s no telling what they’ll face next, and...” Her announcement is cut short as the wall buckles. A towering colossus emerges from the wall, blocking the path ahead. “... and we need to deal with this thing first!” Pathfinders from the caravan fire a barrage of arrows and spells at the creature, but they bounce off its tough exterior. “We’ll need strength to crack its defenses!” Players, you can send your Muscle Aid Characters on this mission.

GMs, please begin the Aid Mission (Muscle) when you reach a good point to do so.

Marta knows the Bloody Skeletons have Spell Resistance and can Deflect certain spells including charms and compulsions away from themselves, onto the trapped souls they have devoured.

Jack calls, "The bloody bones are Devourers. They have no immunities apart from the usual undead traits. The big green skeleton is a Gashdokuro called Joy."

The leading bard inspires courage and ✨casts good hope for the party.

While Rokgurn wards himself, Whisper shares the following information about Devourers:

☠ They energy drain AND devour souls, which works like slay living, except the victim’s soul gets trapped inside the Devourer.
☠ They have Spell Resistance and they can deflect certain spells including charms and compulsions onto the trapped souls they have devoured, rather than themselves
☠ No resistances apart from those associated with the usual undead traits
☠ SLA: animate dead, bestow curse, confusion, control undead, death knell, ghoul touch, inflict serious wounds, lesser planar ally, ray of enfeeblement, spectral hand, suggestion, true seeing, vampiric touch

The Blue-haloed Devourer descends and attempts to touch the middle of Omrax’s forehead.

Blue melee touch vs flat-footed Omrax: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (18) + 18 = 36
damage: 12d6 + 18 ⇒ (2, 3, 2, 6, 5, 4, 5, 1, 1, 3, 3, 2) + 18 = 55

Unfortunately, the sailors seem to be having some issues of their own. Though normally quite small, they appear even more gaunt then usual, with sunken cheekbones on their featureless faces. Many of them lean exhausted against the rails, their hands over their bellies moaning. A few gnaw futilely on the end of tar-covered ropes.

"If you want to fill those bellies, you'll need to win the booty, ya dogs!" Hamish cries, trying to browbeat them back into action. "To yer stations!"

It seems to work, as many of them stumble to their posts, a little listless, but functional enough. Though ship lists to port for a moment, when some of the crew lose their grasp on a spar rope in weakened hands. But others come in to help, and they quickly recover.

The ship rams the large undead creature nearby with a thunderous cracking sound, then the now familiar retort of cannons firing reverberates through the room... perhaps even louder than normal. A loud cry goes up from the crew as they rush to the rails, weapons in hand, eager for the distraction from their starving bellies!

Lol. If Jack has saving finale available, the Gull would make more sense as a target. So ignore the whining in the background and let’s get to it!

A *blinding* ⚡ FLASH ⚡ emerges from the hilt of Omrax’s longsword, as the paladin puts his head down and stoically sets to work on the blue-flaming undead.

To the others it seems the fight is over in an instant. Once the Beacon of Light fades, the mounted Knight of the Inheritor stands alone on the party’s eastern flank.

It’s like the Devourer never existed.

Not to be outdone, the Secular Scourge of the Seven Seas *RAMS* the second Devourer, like a Barometz charging an Ragathielan Inquisimonk, setting scene for the ship’s secondaries to shower the undead with grape, bar and canister – tearing the bloody skeleton apart, and releasing a number of ghostly shapes which drift up and northward away from the battlefield.
