Brannart's Disarm Maneuver Vs Image/Foe: 1d100 ⇒ 52 (Foe)

Rayland's CMD is 21. I am adding the +1 Luck Bonus I offered in the Discussion Thread to give Brannart a 21 and a successful Disarm.

Rayland looks into Brannart's eyes when the veteran addresses him. Brannart has seen this look before. The look a soldier has when ordered to carry out a perceived unconscionable act.

Instead of going for the kill, Brannart uses his training against Rayland's blade. Rayland, almost seemingly offering the weapon, moves to block Brannart's strike and in doing so, the sword is liberated from the former colony leader's grip.

With the blade gone, Fenna finds an opening in the man's guard and punctures him in the gut with her spear. Removing the spear, offers a gush of blood bubbling from the hole in the armor.


Vexas, seeing Brannart's success, strikes the correct Rayland, but has difficulty breaking through his armor.

Sho, seeing an opening through the crowd, fires her arrow at Eliza. Although the Ranger felt really good with her release, she notices that the arrow barely breaks through the translucent, slimy skin.

With Sho's current position, and Fenna and Rayland in between, Eliza has Soft Cover. Sho's current attack was still good, just fyi.

I knew I had no penalty due to Precise shot feat, but forgot to take cover in account

Eliza eyes Brannart as he knocks Rayland's sword out of his hand. "Well, you're a big boy aren't you?" She points a finger at the veteran. "Shame you're going to have to die."

Brannart feels a blast of pain in is head like nothing he has felt before. It's like he is in the WorldWound all over again. Images of demons, slain companions, and his sweet love Ingrit. The memory of her destruction to fiendish magic assaults his being. He cannot concentrate on anything else and blood flows from his ears, nose, and eyes.

Brannart takes 27 points of damage.


Malakar feels weaker as he continues to bleed from his ears and nose.

As the wolf appears behind Eliza, she lets out a startled shout. "Where the hell did you come from you MUT?!" she screams as she dodges its bite.

Fenna steps away from Rayland and uses magic this time.

At her hand's beckoning the floor under and around Eliza and Rayland becomes covered in gray, semi-transparent grease.

The sudden slipperiness of the floor irritates Eliza to no end. She controls her balance and remains standing. Looking at Fenna, she states, "You will be the next to bleed, darling."

In front of Eliza, Rayland goes down with a thud, plop, and clang. He attempts to stand, but falls again.

I believe Fenna and Brannart can take an AoO on Rayland.

Rayland takes a -4 AC penalty for being prone when the AOO happens - not included in my attack roll.

He then steps up and readies to attack Eliza should she cast again.
If she doesn't Cast Defensively, then he gets both an AOO and the readied attack; if she does Cast Defensively, he still gets the Readied Attack. This is a +1 Ranseur if that matters for DR. If she provokes an AOO for moving, note that it will happen against her flat-footed AC and any hit will force another Acrobatics check at the same DC.

Fenna realizes Rayland is a heroic figure of some sort for Brannart, but Eliza is a true menace and she doesn't feel like she has the space for niceties. She thrusts again at the man when he tries to stand.

She does say "I'm sorry, if it matters" to him though.

Fenna quickly repositions herself so she can reach Eliza. Crouching slightly, she aims the tip of her spear straight at Eliza's throat, ready to thrust it forward as soon as the woman makes a move.

"After you though, if you're still alive to try" she replies to Eliza's taunt.

He steps up next to Fenna and flicks his blade forward again, but this time just to see if he can pop an image of Eliza.

Unfortunately, Intimidate takes a standard action in most cases and I think she is immune to fear.

Thatb7s what I was trying to convey with the text in ()'s but I see how it can be misread. To clarify the cure will put me to 25 assuming Eliza's action before mine doesn't damage me.

Brannart strikes Rayland with a solid hit, then positions himself for a strike at Eliza. Fenna, finding a similar tactical spot, positions her spear. With eyes on Fenna, Eliza does not see Sho sneak around the tank. The ranger's arrow pierces into her and drives deeper than her last attempt. After grunting off the wound and hearing Vexas's taunt, Eliza sneers at Fenna as blood drips from her mouth. "I might die, but I'll be following you."

As Eliza lifts a finger, Brannart and Fenna see their expected opening and launch multiple attacks at the estranged colonist. Moments before Fenna's spear pierces Eliza's throat, the Bard feels a mental assault on her mind. Images of Darkmoon Vale and her beloved Alwin's face flood her mind. She hears Alwin's voice, "You said we were safe; that we would make a difference!" Fenna's mind questions herself if this is really Alwin speaking or her own guilty subconscious.

As Eliza drops to the ground; her blood turning the Grease a sickly pinkish color, Fenna, bleeding from her ears, nose, and mouth provides her own offering to the slick floor.

Fenna takes 18 HP of Damage


Rayland Acrobatics Check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12

Rayland Disarm Brannart Attempt (CMD 19): 1d20 + 9 - 4 ⇒ (20) + 9 - 4 = 25

As Malakar heals himself, Rayland stands, finds his footing, and faces Brannart.

With positioning, I believe Fenna would get an AoO, but Brannart would not due to wielding a Reach Weapon, correct? If this is incorrect, Brannart can also take an AoO. And another AoO for the Disarm attempt?

After AoO's are resolved, I'll move forward with the Disarm. If I did this correctly.


Eliza Concentration Check (DC 19): 1d20 + 8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 8 + 4 = 14 (Using 2 points in Phrenic Pool to link Phrenic Application: Intense Focus )

I believe I did this correctly. Retro a bit of story.

As Fenna feels the mental assault enter her mind, she apologizes to herself and to Alwin, knowing she cannot change the past. After Brannart strikes Eliza, Fenna is able to fend off the assault and jam her spear through the Psychic's throat.

Spell failed = no damage to Fenna. Thanks everyone for correcting this.

Oops! A rewrite.

Fenna notices the man standing as the woman falls, she swivels her spear to stop him, but fails to make contact with him. Seeing Rayland and Brannart fighting over possession of his weapon, Fenna rallies the rest of the gang to use their numbers to overwhelm Rayland.

Move action to get herself out of the corner. Standard action to begin Inspire Courage. An affected ally receives a +1 morale bonus on saving throws against charm and fear effects and a +1 competence bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls.

AoO: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4


Brannart, vision blurred from the loss of blood, sees Rayland stand, grab his ranseur, and rip it from his hands.

Seeing Rayland grab the ranseur, the halfling springs into magical action. Holding his rapier, focuses on the ranseur and then claps his little hands together and begins to recite a bit of draconic.

Because Brannart is within 5' and Rayland has the Ranseur, there is no AOO.

Brannart's CMD against Grapple is 22, and Rayland will probably take a -4 on any CMB checks to break out due to being Prone from the wolf's attack.

Moments after Malakar's wolf takes down Rayland, it disappears in a puff of smoke.

Rayland, now on the ground, tightens his grip on the newly acquired ranseur as Vexas casts his spell. With Rayland distracted with the slippery weapon, Brannart seizes the moment and pounces on him. They struggle in a slippery, splashy heap, until Brannart begins to get the upper hand and restrains the grizzled fighter.

Sho is up with a Round 3 turn.

The battle was hard fought, and Sho brings some much needed levity with her quip.

She comes closer to the "wrestling", her bow still in hands

I should invest in blunt arrows, or craft some, for these kind of situation

Now grappled, Rayland lets go of the ranseur and attempts to free himself from Brannart's grip. Rayland squeezes an arm under Brannart's and uses leverage to break the veteran's iron grip. Now free of the grapple, Rayland rolls himself out of the grease and positions himself next to the large water tank's translucent door.

Rayland is still on the ground prone, but he is now free of the area of Grease.

Everybody can take a turn.

Fenna dismisses the grease on the floor and hurries forward to attack Rayland while he's down. Regardless of what Brannart might think of the man, he hasn't shown a willingness to stand down. Fenna decides she won't let any opportunity to end him go unused.

Attack 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 4 + 1 = 22

Damage: 1d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 1 = 5

Includes bonus for Inspire Courage, but not for Rayland's prone condition. Lingering Performance continues Inspire Courage. If Fenna needs to advance another 5' to be within 10' of Rayland she can. The square he's occupying isn't completely clear.


There is only one entrance/exit to the tank on this floor, and that area is occupied by Rayland.

With a wave of her hand, Fenna dismisses the Grease spell on the floor, leaving only the Greased ranseur behind. With this obstacle gone, she advances and pierces the rolling Rayland with her spear. He only lets out a grunt as he turns to look her in the eye.

I don't think that's quit flanking yet, as I think the Northern-most Eliza is still in a lower square.

Brannart moves around so he is flanking with Fenna and grabs Rayland once more.

Ret-conning that Vexas instead approachs Rayland, but instead accidentally hits his funny bone on the large water tank :)


Rayland's escape is short-lived as Brannart, once again, grabs the retreating fighter.

Malakar and Sho have a turn, then it is back to Rayland.

Well, hopefully you did at least pop the image, Sho, which is a big help!

Brannart is mostly trying to get the others to understand why killing this guy is not a good idea, although they seem to be on board with his plan anyway.

Rayland struggles under Brannart. He shakes his head and grunts in effort, then suddenly he stops. Several moments of quiet go by. The only sound, Rayland's heavy breathing. Then he speaks, "He's gone. He's out of my head; out of my mind. Blasted! Evil like I never felt before." Rayland swivels his head best he can to look at Brannart and everybody else in his line-of-sight. "Thank you lad, thank you all for putting an end to it. May Abadar's judgement come to bear for the deeds that I must have done."

You were... controlled? By who, what? Do you remember any of your time under this influence? He realizes he's flooding the man with questions and pauses.

Brannart does not yet relax his grip.

"You understand we will have to tie you up and allow the mages or priests to examine you, correct? It is not that I do not trust the word of Rayland Arkley, but rather that I cannot be sure that I am talking to Rayland Arkley."

Brannart saw a demonic possession once the Worldwound. Priests of Iomedae were able to free the man of the demon, but the man never shed the guilt, though his deeds were not his own. The Crusader took his own life not a month later. Brannart hopes that Rayland can have a different path.

He holds Rayland still while another binds the man's arms behind his back. I see that Fenna has rope.

"We have many questions. About the Colony, about Eliza, and about Silas Weatherbee.
Silas is dead. His spirit told the priests that the colonists had been acting strangely, and when he went to speak to you about it, you killed him. Do you remember that?"
