" This is why you brought 2 wizards" Kenath says as he backs away from the swarms.
Would a small fire elemental do much to the ant swarm? I think our evoker is a much stronger play here.
GM Ietsuna
The swarm would be immune to the slam, but not the burn of a fire elemental, I think. If anyone has counter information we can discuss.
Nugats
|
Oh - this is my play. But we need to draw the swarm AWAY from the books.
"Pooka, move that swarm over here." Nugats points to the middle of the room away from the books.
GM Ietsuna
Just waiting on Pooka before we move forward.

Sorry!
Pooka is fantastic at giving instructions. At his kennel back home, his pack of dogs is a well trained pack, and he is their alpha. Both he and his dogs know how important it is to listen to and immediately obey each of his commands.
Except the puppies. But that is why they are puppies.
Pooka doesn't hesitate when Nugats calls his name. Honestly he practically expected it. Half walking, half skipping in his urgency to get out of the way and hopefully draw the ants behind him, Pooka goes exactly to where he is directed without delay. "Luna, Stay!" he commands his pup, knowing she wouldn't hesitate to get into the fray, yet would be mostly useless against these swarms.
GM Ietsuna
[ooc[ No worries Pooka. I was not giving you a hurry along, just letting everyone know that I was not ignoring you all[/ooc]
The green swarm heads for Pooka, moving and an covering the halfling as they sting and bite.

Would a small air elemental, with a 10-20' whirlwind, be able to hoover up those ants (and preferably not the books!)? We need to do something about those books...
GM Ietsuna
If you present me a compelling enough argument I will certainly allow those type of shenanigans

Kenath quickly scrambles for a solution. Theres always a summon for each situation, they drilled that into me! He quickly realizes that an air elemental, or a few of them, may be able to create a negative vortex vacuum, preserving the tome they were sent to save.
fortitude save: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
small air elementals: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Kenath calls upon his training, summoning 3 elementals. He calls to them in whispy Auran ,” get the ants off the books, use your winds. Bring them above the gnome!”.
They quickly each assume a whirlwind form and move rapidly over the swarms, staying on the books until the ants are affected, and then using their rapid speed to hastily fly them above Nuggets.
with 100' speed, they could all affect both swarms. so I think each swarm requires 2 DC 14 reflex saves per elemental (so a total of 12 reflex saves). If they fail the first, they take 1d4+3 damage, if they fail that and the second, they are now flying ants, on this mother Fing plane. The visual of this is *much* better than the mechanics...

Sweat soaks into the lining of his armor as the little halfling pumps his legs. It won't be long before he begins to test the limits of his endurance. Not really lol...

1 round is correct, so I think at the start of the air elementals next turn, the ants (that were flow overhead of Nugats, up to the ceiling), are going to fall down. I suggest you AoE that swarm and we'll deal with the next one when we can. The swarm with ants is as high up as it can go (assuming nothing looks too valuable, like a second floor of the library), with the ants for Nuggets to fireball. The other two elementals start where the other swarm was, although not with their 5' base sitting on books, waiting for next round to try the same action by reassuming whirlwind form for that round.
