For now just post in character concepts, or anything you'd like really.
Doomed Hero
I have a few ideas, depending on the overall tone of the game.
1) A grapple-focused barbarian who uses Mythic Grappler and Limitless Range to hurl enemies into orbit.
2) The world's only Paladin of Desna (using Beyond Morality to play a chaotic good paladin. Would start as an Oracle or Warpriest, and retrain to Paladin once we became Mythic)
3) A Riftarden Apprentice focused on battlefield control and anti-demon tactics like counterspells and blocking teleportation.

Tarot is a samsaran reincarnated orcale with the haunted curse and ancestor mystery. Her past lives inform her present, with the soul of an ancient general struggling to deal with his own tragic defeat a thousand years ago.
Tarot spent years following her father’s accident training in the ways of one of her people’s most ancient oracular traditions. At first, the training was healing to her neurotic psyche. It gave her a way of understanding her past and reconciling the feelings within her. “Listen to yourselves,” her mentor would instruct, “their successes and failures inform the present day.”
She was a quick study, and as a result she grew bored with the pace of instruction. Her mentor begged her to complete her training, but the three most dominate past lives in her soul drove her to correct their mistakes. “You taught me to listen to my selves,” she told her mentor, “And so I must.”
She began her sojourn traveling to the places the ancient explorer in her had visited. Along the way she worked as a healer in various caverns and small towns. This arrangement settled her past lives’ frustrations for the most part, but she kept trying to repress the violence within her. An ancient general still tugged at her psyche. Eventually the general’s influence was too much for her to bear. She traveled to the River Kingdoms where she trained with mercenaries protecting trade routes in the art of combat.
I can change details there as needed. She is a buff and heal type caster (weak casting stat) with combat skills. She might dip into something for extra fight, but probably not. She will probably take combat expertise related feats, but I'm still playing with some things. Exact build rules will help solidity things.

An introductory post is open, mainly to open the campaign thread for dotting and deleting.
The Many-Faced GM
I've been going back and forth about either running 6 regular characters or 4 gestalt characters. I'm going with gestalt.
Hope, Chosen of Desna
here's the preliminary build for my character.
Right now she's an Oracle/Sorcerer, but as soon as we become Mythic I'll be taking Beyond Morality and retraining Oracle to Paladin.
Right now she isn't very good at any particular thing, but she can fill in just about anywhere. She can scout, heal, talk, and fight, but she won't shine at any of them for a few levels.
I'm taking the Runeborn trait, and eventually taking Archmage as my mythic path.
I'm very deliberately reigning in the power level of my build. In my experience, the Mythic system requires it.

For gestalt I'm considering ranger (battle scout) or some sort of fighter. Kind of more an internal debate between skill points and feats, but looking to stay as true to the character concept as possible over mechanics, so ranger fits pretty well...either way I will have a rough sketch and alias sometime this weekend.

"Tarot"
Or one of my past lives, lol, the general was a crusader at one time himself, I'm for sure down to have someone who used to know an old soul in another body.
Tarot is assumed to have come from the River Kingdoms region most recenetly, where she was working with local mercenaries hoping to calm her ancient general's interest in fighting his last battle again before feeling compelled to join the crusade. There she hopes to find peace for the general and do something positive for the world at the same time. So plenty of room for someone to have met up with her there.

After much back and forth, this is Tarot, finally. I have to spend a few more gold on a ranged weapon and clean up the profile a touch, but otherwise ready to roll.
The Many-Faced GM
It looks like folks are almost done with their characters so we should be getting started in the next few days.
The Many-Faced GM
Scale of Cloudwalking - Three times per day as a standard action, the scale can be used to cast levitate. A pillar of roiling clouds rises below the levitating object or creature, growing and shrinking with the target's altitude. This pillar is 5 feet in diameter (regardless of the target's size) and provides concealment (20% miss chance) to any creature or object wholly contained within.
Scale of Disguise - Three times per day as a standard action, the scale can be used to cast alter self. While disguised, the target gains a +4 bonus on all Bluff checks made against evil creatures.
Scale of Resistance - Three times per day as a standard action, the scale can be used to cast resist elements, but only against electricity or cold.
Scale of Sacred Weaponry - Three times per day as a standard action, the scale can be used to cast align weapon, but only to make a weapon lawful or good. Unlike a normal align weapon spell, this effect can be cast on an unarmed strike or natural weapon.

Slot: None
Caster Level: 19
Weight: -
Note: The powers do not function when more than one his possessed.
Hope, Chosen of Desna
Normally I'd say our rogue should have the disguise scale, but since it seems like we might be needing to bluff demons or cultists, having the Aasimar or the Paladin able to disguise themselves might be better.
The Cloudwalking scale would be great for characters who focus on range combat or casting (arathorne probably)
Anyone have any other thoughts about who should get what?
Vala Widowknife
I'm resistant to both of those energies. So it should go to someone who is not. The align weapon could be useful, But I also have cold iron weapons. I Probably don't need the disguise as I already look the part. The cloud is interesting as I have a bow.
"Tarot"
I agree either Vala or Arathorne should get the cloudwalk. It's kind of a toss up between them, except I think Vala should take the sacred weapon one because she's the more accurate hitter with her dex. *shrugs* I could get use out of any of them under various circumstances, but would probably find either the disguise or resistance ones the most useful overall.
Hope, Chosen of Desna
My preferences are the same as Tarot.
Here's my proposed distribution based on this conversation-
Vala: Sacred Weapon
Arathorne: Cloudwalking
Tarot: Resistance
Hope: Disguise
We can always swap them around later if we want.
Vala Widowknife
Does anyone want specific items from 'loot'?
• 10 days of trail rations
• 1 flint and steel
• 1 set of caltrops
• 2 flasks of oil
• 1 bundle of 12 arrows
• 1 potion of cure light wounds
• 1 potion of lesser restoration
I would like the MW backpack, Arrows, and caltrops.

Everyone should be able to move their token in roll20 and each person should be able to move the NPC's as well.
Hope, Chosen of Desna
Does Hope's Psychic Strike ability work on mindless creatures? It doesn't say one way or another, but I didn't want to assume.
bumping this. i need to know if i can mind-stab the bug
The Many-Faced GM
Doh. Sorry I missed this. Yes, you can use Psychic Strike on the cockroach, or any vermin. The only limitation I see is "one creature".
"Tarot"
Just a quick note: I've been distracted by COVID related stuff (no one sick, but RL is fully impacted, heh). I should be back to more normal posting frequency in the next few days and I hope everyone is safe and healthy.
The Many-Faced GM
The NPC's hit points are accurate. They can be healed by normal means. However their injuries will require more.
Hope, Chosen of Desna
Sorry for the absence. I managed to give myself a bout of Sciatica (which, if you haven't experienced it, suuuuucks). A lot of things got forgotten this past week. I'm catching up now.
The Many-Faced GM
Ooohh, that sucks, not much worse than that for a desk worker. No worries. Hope it goes away soon.

2020. I mean, 2020, right? This year has been really rough on everyone, but the last few months have been especially hard on me personally. I've been cycling between extreme anxiety and depression. Some of the worst of both I've ever had. It's causing major issues in my play-by-post gaming and my life in general, which only feeds back into the cycle!
So when I try to update my games I have terrible thoughts regarding pressure, self-worth, imposter syndrome, and so on. As a result I've been in full avoidance mode. I want so badly to finish "Dragon's Demand" and continue my mechwarrior treasure hunt. I want to get back in touch with Khar, a warrior who is unburdened by depression (but who does suffer from serious confusion about his place in Athas as a free mul), and with Drahlneep who does reflect some my emotional state. I miss Tarot's leadership, and I want to see how things shape up in Longacre and the Stolen Lands. I have a chance to join a new Dark Conspiracy game and how can I ignore that?
And I want to start a new project. For a while now I've wanted to go back to old school World of Darkness and have sketched out an outline for a Vampire game. I can't launch a new project with unfinished business and after a long period of absence, it's just not right. Besides, I want all my ducks in a neat little row first.
I've been having a lot of trouble pushing through the panic. I'm trying to refocus all the time and today I'm going to breathe through it and just try and move forward somewhere. New Year's resolutions will be including finding a decent therapist and somehow forcing more exercise. 2020 is almost over. Normalcy is knocking on the door.
Sorry for the long copypasta, going to be passing that around to other games as I push through this effing messed up mental state. Had to do Tarot first. I could use some of her confidence!
