Welcome! It is my pleasure to serve as your gamemaster and guide you on a fun and dangerous adventure. Thank you for joining me here!

Please read the following rules as they apply to my games. By completing the mustering questions, you agree to abide by these rules.

1. If you are color blind or have any other issue that will affect your experience with play-by-post play and use of GoogleDocs slides, let me know, publicly or via PM.

2. Bullying of either your fellow players or me, your GM, is not allowed.

3. I expect posts within 24 hours of an actionable post by me. E.g. combat rounds.

4. Please let me know either in PM or in the Discussion thread if you will have a prolonged absence. And if you have an emergency, please let me know as soon as reasonably possible that 1) you had an emergency that kept you away and 2) that you are (or are not) OK. I actually do worry about my players when they vanish.

5. I no longer bot characters for absent players. After 24 hours of inactivity, the character goes on indefinite delay.

6. The exception to #4 is if you tell me ahead of time that you will be gone (or as soon as reasonably possible in the case of emergencies). However, my botting will be bare bones. You may also proactively arrange with another player to bot you during anticipated absences, but they must also agree to it.

7. I perform resource checks (also known as character audits). The details will be posted separately, but you must be prepared to demonstrate proof of ownership of any and all resources that you use for your character at any time (in an online format).

In addition, for PFS(2), I have developed formats that assist me in keeping the game moving. Please read and review as necessary during the game my instructions to players on formatting semi-secret Secret Checks and the order that dice should be rolled (HERE & in the campaign header).

| Extinction | url= |

Please fill out your sign-in information (name, number, faction, etc) on Slide #2 in the Maps & Tools link found in the campaign header. In addition, please add your Perception modifier to the Perception block. You can make a token by right-clicking your character's avatar and 'Copy Image,' then paste inside the Token block and reduce down to match the size of my sample token.

You may also make any applicable Downtime checks here in the Discussion. If you later decide that you need to use your Downtime for retraining (I doubt anyone does yet) or restoring a familiar or animal companion, we can adjust the number of days used on the back end.

I'm here. Waiting to see what the PC classes are before choosing the pregen, if that's alright.

NVM. I can see the classes on the sign up.

One question on Downtime checks for Pregens. Do we use the skill of the PC we are assigning it to? Or do I have to use the skill of the Pregen I am using?

** spoiler omitted **

@GM Blake: please let me know if I did it right in the Gameplay thread... secret raw roll was 17, and with modified Occultism bonus of +4 it becomes 21. Let me know if you want us to compute that for you under spoilers or leave it raw like I did (I based this on your GM instruction for the 'reaction' type rolls because Bladden has a lot of skills; please also let me know if you want only ONE raw d20 roll or three different ones like I did...)

Vigilant Seal

Male Dwarf | Martial Disciple | Barbarian (Spirit) 1| Class DC 17 | HP: 14/25(30 Rage); Hero: 1/3 | AC: 20 (21 w/ buckler); Rage AC: 19 (20) | F (E) +8; R (T) +5; W (E) +6 | Poison Resist: 1 | Perc (E): +6 ; Darkvision | Spd: 20’

Hey all, thanks for running GM Blake.

Do you want us to roll Downtime tasks and add it to the chart? Or just put our skill mod in?

This character has played one adventure during Gameday, I'm waiting on the sheet. I may shop during downtime once I can assess his funds.

Downtime

Whose Skill Modifier Do I Use?

To my knowledge, the answer to whether you use the Pregen or your own character has not been officially answered (you've seen plenty of "I heard from" on the Society forums, but there is no post from an OPF developer, blog post, FAQ, or statement in the guide). Therefore, I will rule that you use your Pregen's statistics, just like in PFS1.

Clarification

Please make your Downtime checks--Earn Income, Crafting, some special boon--here. Once you've made the roll, transcribe the results to the chart on Slide #2 and note what kind of task you did in the adjacent column. E.g. 17 | Earn Income.

Secret Checks

The short answer: I want 1 Secret Check inside a spoiler.

The longer answer:

When I call for a Secret Check or you make a Secret Check, please place that roll with its modifier as part of the code inside a spoiler (Lleylo did it correctly).

Example:

Occultism:

Occultism: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

If you don't know what modifier you should be using--the most common situation is Recall Knowledge of a creature and you don't know what type of creature it is--place a raw d20 and list the modifiers that would apply.

Example:

Recall Knowledge:

1d20 ⇒ 19 Arcana +6, Occultism +6, Religion +4

You are more likely to use raw d20s during Encounter Mode for if-then trees. It becomes more complex as you rise in level, not as much at first level.

Example:

If Medium Dave disarms the guard, I will make a trip attempt. Otherwise, attack with sap.
Action: 1d20 ⇒ 11 +6 trip or +4 attack

Rationale for Semi-Secret Checks

I believe Secret Checks have a purpose in the game, baked into the rules as they are and that the scenarios provide adequate guidance on what a Critical Failure is that it takes the table variation out of it. However, some players feel this takes away their agency, and it does slow down PbP an indeterminate (and variable by player) amount by adding more back-and-forth between the GM and player. Since I'm rolling in a spoiler for the purposes of audits, a given player could look behind my spoiler-GM screen and see their roll anyhow, so I'm creating the same effect by trusting the players to not peek at their own spoilers.

Huh... looking at the 2E guide, I'm completely confused now... how does Downtime and Boons work?

I found the table on p.236 which sets the yield/money earned, which is very similar to the Chronicle Zero list... Chronicle Zero shows a DC 15 for 5 CP at level 1: are we bound to use that or can we use a more challenging task level? since downtime is 8 days, I assume we then get 40 CP i.e. 4 SP with downtime?

I have a Chronicle sheet coming on Wednesday. Can I slot and shop then? Sorry, Waiting on Gameday wrap up.

Unless you have a boon or feat that allows you to use a more challenging Earn Income task level, no, you are bound to Character Level - 2 (no higher, no lower).

I see that that game is finished and your chronicles are well overdue.

You can use the 14 gold you will have earned from it to purchase now, if you wish.

The one boon you get on that is a Downtime boon, so you can decide when/if you roll Earn Income if you want to use that boon.

EDIT: You should collectively politely nudge your GM, it's been more than a week since it finished and no chronicles.

@GM Blake: I have the Chronicle Sheet for 1-01 which gives an option for higher task level but the GM left it blank... do you happen to know which number should have gone in there?

i.e. 'Society Connections (Downtime): ... check the box that precedes this boon to attempt task level ____'

PS: I'll save this boon for later, so no worries... my GM informed me that yes, we hit the DC 14 and should be 40 cp total. (8 days x 5 CP per day)

Cool! I think level 3 is 2sp per day for trained skill... nice! cool that the boon scales with level! the longer you wait the better it gets!

Thanks for the head's up GM Blake.

Purchasing - 2 Elixir of Life (3gp each), 2 Antiplague (3gp each), and a Repair Kit (2gp) = 14gp total

The other GM has been decent about updating, life has interfered with fantasy unfortunately. He's confident about delivering by Wednesday.

Sorry. I wasn't as clear as I could have been. The instructions for filling out the blank are in the scenario. It's set when you complete the scenario, not when you use the boon. So you play it at 1st level, a 3 goes in that blank. You play it at 4th level, a 6 goes in that blank.

Hi GM Blake: how soon are we to finish this scenario? About a month ago I signed up for a PlayDis Con table with this PC and I think it starts soonish this week or next- let me know if we're still far off or soon to be done. If nowhere near I'll just withdraw from that other table so as to finish your game here first.

| Extinction | url= |

I'd estimate 2 weeks (or 0 days if you can't save Peaches).

More importantly, I didn't remove Blue from the map so you may be confused. There are no more live stirges. Peaches is bleeding to death from a stirge beak still lodged in his neck (it's a special ability of bloodseeker: if you kill one while attached, you gain the bleed condition).

EDIT: Posted too soon. So Hamlet and Dave can redo their turns.

I got lucky on the First Aid roll, can anyone hit me with Treat Lethal Wounds? I could use the HP, I don't mind the Drained so far...

| Extinction | url= |

Treat Wounds is a Trained-only action of the Medicine skill.

You spend 10 minutes treating the target's wounds.
If successful, you heal 2d8 hit points and remove the wounded condition, if present.
If critically successful, you heal 4d8 hit points and remove the wounded condition, if present.
If you fail, you heal nothing.
If you critically fail, you inflict 1d8 damage.
In addition, the target is immune to Treat Wound actions for 1 hour, although this hour starts when the triggering Treat Wound action starts. Basically, once you finish the 10 minutes of work, you have 50 minutes until you can be healed again with Treat Wounds.

If you are successful, you can instead continue to treat the wounds for a full 1 hour and double the result of your healing roll.

Thanks. I completely missed the 'successful' result of 2d8... why do they write the skill starting with the critical result?!

Male NG Elf | Fighter 1 | HP 17/17 | AC 18 | Fort +6 | Reflex +7 | Will +3 | Perception +5 | Speed 15ft | Active Conditions: None

That was highly discussed during playtesting. I'm not sure why they do it either when writing them as:
Success
Crit Success
Fail
Crit Fail

would make more sense for your regular result being included with the crit result. Is what it is though.

Yep... I'll have to admit though 2d8 on a heal check is pretty badass... makes nonmagical healers a possibility for the masses... respect.
