Brindle Ghostfur |
Is there a ballista/crossbow as indicated on the map north of Brindle? If so, can it be pointed inside the stockade? Of course Brindle might not be able to see from her location if it is actually loaded...
Brindle Ghostfur |
Ok, gotcha. Are those steps down to the ground just east of Brindle? Or, failing that is there a crate adjacent-northeast of her position she can use as a way down?
GM Coyote |
Those are stairs near Brindle.
Sprig Snaggletooth |
"Yipes!" Sprig yelps as a bullet knocks the hat from his head. The kobold scrambles for cover before turning around, eyeing his fallen headgear. He dives for his precious hat, putting it back on his head before once again scrabbling back into the safety of the palisade's walls.
As he does so, the magical pit slowly rises into nothingness.
Create Pit expires, receding over the course of the round

Casey Jayne |
His toothpick dancing animatedly between his lips as he takes note of the bandit shooting at Sprig, Casey quickly reloads and fires at him.
Attack bandit shooting at Sprig.

Brindle roars in exultation as her opponent falls off the stockade. She clambers down the steps to assault the bandit in the open, her swing incredibly forceful but perhaps wild...

Moving along the wall pulling his Bardiche out he smirked and swung hard at the bandit there on the corner of the wall.
"Bad day to be a bandit buddy."
He began amused at the alliteration.

I'll get the enemy actions up later today.
GM Coyote |
Saraon finally pulls himself onto the stockade as Bas charges past him and cuts a deep blow into the bandit with his bardiche. The makeshift pistol drops from the bandit's hand as he slumps against the stockade, unmoving.
Brindle and Casey work in tandem, Casey's rifle hitting the bandit before Brindle brings her club down hard on the enemy's head, taking down another foe.
Ralrae continues to wait for the oncoming bandits to arrive.
The oncoming bandits see their compatriots fall and they exchange a few inaudible words before running towards Svedka's quarters.
You'll all have a round of actions before the bandits reach Svedka's quarters. If Ralrae and Casey want to come down, I'll say they can reach the party in a full round of movement.
Brindle Ghostfur |
Brindle hit a bandit with two javelins - is that bandit up on the stockade or did he fall to the ground? Either way can she reach him/her/them in one round?
Ralrae Arkmir |
Seeing that all of his sight lines are obscured by the stockade, Ralrae moves forward and climbs the outside of the stockade to get to a higher position on the wall.
Climb: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Like Saraon however, Ralrae struggles with the walls of the stockade.
GM Coyote |
He's on the stockade, you can go up the stairs to get to him.
Sprig Snaggletooth |
Sprig steps once more towards the entrance. With a snap, the little lizard dispels the magical grease. "Alright! th' entrance is clear. G-Go on ahead!" He waits for the others to go ahead before creeping up slowly behind them.
Brindle Ghostfur |
Ok, Brindle will move back up on to thr stockade to retrieve her javelins - can you place her where she ends up GM?
Brindle Ghostfur |
@Saraon: As per my post, Brindle went back up onto the stockade to retrieve javelins. Also higher ground, not being on an open field etc...
GM Coyote |
Will have a post up tomorrow.
GM Coyote |
The door to Svedka's quarters slams open and four bandits come charging out. Two are the bandits that the party saw before, and one is a woman dressed in a strange outfit that Bas recognizes as a bandit priest and a fourth that matches Svedka's description almost exactly.
As they run towards the party the priest raises her arm as a shield of magical distortion comes into being, nearly blocking them from view. They stop just in front of the party.
The party however, was expecting them.
The party may act!

Brindle Ghostfur |
Brindle and Saraon are wherever Brindle ended up on the stockade to fetch her javelins - can you place them GM?
Sprig Snaggletooth |
Sprig sees the burst from their leaders quarters, ready to start a fight. With a clap of his hands and a stomp of his feet, the little lizard casts his favored spell: Create Pit!
DC 15 Reflex Save to avoid falling in, take 2d6 falling damage upon failure. DC 25 climb check to get out and it's 20 feet deep.
Not waiting to see the results of his spell, the kobold makes tracks. He hides behind the safety of the stockade and lets his allies handle the rest.
Bas Reigger |
Avoiding the pit He moved forward to the side and brought his bardiche across in a massive slice designed to either cut the bandit in twain... or hopefully make them fall a step back into the pit.

Saraon Duskdragon |
Saraon rushes after Brindle to join her in the scrap moving 25 feet to the location I've placed him in on the map.

Bas swings wide, missing the warrior. However, Casey, seeing his target fall into the pit, takes a shot at the same bandit, hitting him. Brindle's javelin misses, the flurry of activity around him throwing off her aim.
Crit Damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Saraon gets a mighty blow on Svedka, his blade flashing like lightning. Ralrae fires at her and though she barely clings to conciousness, she does not fall. She swings at Saraon, a similarly mighty blow for 23 damage. Her eyes roll back into her head and she drops to the ground, unconcious.
The raider priest snarls when she sees Svedka falls and shouts at Ralrae, "Flame take you, dammit!" With that, she creates a sphere of fire where Ralrae stands, and he is unable to dodge out of the way, taking 14 damage.
The bandit in the pit tries, and fails, to climb out of the pit. Finally, the bandit next to Bas swings at him with a rusty hatchet. The weapon strikes true, dealing 13 damage to Bas.
The party is up!

Sprig Snaggletooth |
Everyone within 5 feet of the pit must make a DC15 reflex save with a +2 bonus or fall in. Create Pit Duration 3/4.
Sprig hears the chaos unfolding and tries his best to remain calm under the sounds of clashing steel and gunfire. Pressing himself against the wall, he works to make himself as unnoticeable as possible.
Stealth: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31
Moving slowly, quietly, the kobold begins climbing the wall behind him.
Climb: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (17) - 2 = 15
Sprig carefully peers over the stockade before leaping over to the other side, staying as low as he can.
Brindle Ghostfur |
Is that another Crit, Ralrae? Confirmation roll?
Brindle yells "Hit the shaman" as she lopes by Bas, trying to avoid being hit by the bandit close by and scampering over a barrel and onto a crate as she brings her mighty gunstock club to bear - swinging it with all her might at the bandit spellcaster...
Have moved my icon on the map, counting the two squares north of the bandits as difficult terrain. If Brindle stands on the crate does she get a bonus for higher ground?

Ralrae, could you also roll your crit damage please?

Seeing his previous target fall in the pit trap, Casey reloads and takes a shot at another.

Sprig Snaggletooth |
Psst... Ralrae, isn't your weapon a x4 crit? Roll for damage two more times
Sprig almost jumps out of his skin as Casey fires his weapon, the lizard hadn't realized he was standing so close to him.
"Looks like we need t' get that sight recalibrated, Ah can take a look at iffn yew want. Don't worry, Ah put together a few barkin' irons in my day." The kobold shows off the pistol he keeps under his coat.
I can roll 'em if you're okay with that.
GM Coyote |
Ralrae’s bullet hits the spellcaster in the chest, and she mutters, ”T...tonight I ride with the gods...” She falls to the ground, dead. Bas scores a mighty blow on the other bandit who falls as well.
When the last bandit rises from the pit, the party makes short work of him.
A silence settles over the camp. Svedka lies on the ground, unconscious and bleeding. Several vultures circle overhead, the smell of death a siren calling.
Bas Reigger |
"Hey Sprig? How long does your pit thing last?"
He called back to the hiding kobold as he looked carefully into the pit at the dead bodies. It would be an annoying climb down but they might have something good on them. He glanced over at the maybe still alive Svedka and then he shrugged. Dead bandits were preferable over the live ones.
"If I hope down there and lift up the bodies you can pull them up right Brindle?"
He asked before making the decision whether to go down there or not.
GM Coyote |
The pit is gone, it only lasts four rounds.
Brindle Ghostfur |
Brindle creeps over to where Svedka has fallen. She kicks away discarded weapons and after searching the bandit leader for hidden weapons binds the woman's hands behind her back.
"What now? We wanna eat one now?" she asks matter of factly.
Casey Jayne |
Moving down to ground level, Casey checks on the tied up leader, wondering why the gnoll is tying her hands. "She's still alive. And nobody's eating no one. I'm gonna try and keep her from bleedin' out." Pulling out his healer's kit, the gunslinger goes to work. Herbs, a few bandages here and a tourniquet there, Heal: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29 "There, that oughta do it," he says as he finishes up. "I can bring her around if need be. She might prove useful. If not, I'm willin' to bet there's a reward for bringin' her in alive," he says, raising an interested eyebrow at the idea.
Saraon Duskdragon |
"While I admire your respect for the dead and the living, Casey, I doubt we will be returning these dead to whatever families they may have abandoned to pursue this life. I will not begrudge Brindle her right as a huntress...besides, it's not cannibalism if she's eating it," Saraon replies as he walks over to Casey. "You could become a king, Casey! You have the hands of a healer. Could you please grant me some of your 'royal' skill? I'm wounded."
