| Gozrym Trygve |
"Whatever it is, I've never seen its like around here before. And, this dratted weather continues. The soon we get to the bottom of this, the better."
Gozrym is all for setting off as soon as the group is ready.
DM Deevor
|
As the group give up on the creature, now cold and stiff in death, Gozrym leads on further into the snow filled valley. As the go the snow falls in greater quantity, you can hardly see anything in front of you. The snow deepens, with drifts several feet deep, enough to completely cover and bury a small creature. Without proper footware the snow is almost impassable, slowing the progress considerably. Movement decreased by 75%. Vision is restricted to 5ft,including darkvision.
Will continue post tomorrow...in the meantime let me know marching order and anything else that is peten
DM Deevor

The journey is cold and tough, battling the icy winds and constant blanket of snow that falls. You travel through the Somir Valley, the trees of Border Wood on either side of the path, they tower as dark shadowy silent sentinels guarding the treasures of the valley, its flora and fauna. But now under the heavy weight of snow and icicles on their boughs they droop forlorn, branches touching the ground, making a veil of wood and ice. Your shoes break through the frozen crust of snow on the path and sink down, making every step sap your strength. Yours are the only tracks that lead onwards.
Before you the snow falls, and the trees part to provide a clearing in this white and grey landscape. In the clearing you can make out at least three dark round shapes that stand quietly in front of you. Like stationary giant white tortoises blending into the monochrome snowy vista before you.
How are you going to approach these shapes?
Please let me know if you are wearing any equipment that will make travelling through the snow any easier.
Rerdahl Tollan
|
Thoroughly miserable in the deep snow, Rerdahl just follows along behind one of the bigger, stronger folk breaking a path in the snow. He mentally wishes he knew some magic that would let him fly above the strange snow, or at least walk along the top of it....
Nope. Wearing a winter outfit to stay warmer, but no snow shoes or anything smart like that....
I'm not in the lead so someone else will have to answer about approaching the dark round shapes.
| Vyr Embar |
"Gozrym, you know these woods. Any idea about those shapes?"
| Gozrym Trygve |
"Hard to recognize anything in this weather. The snow makes all the shapes strange." Gozrym squints into the snowy twilight.
"Hard to imagine that anything left out here is friendly."
Rerdahl Tollan
|
Unable to see much of anything other than the backside of the person in front of him, Rerdahl listens for any sounds other than the crunching of the snow under his feet. When the men make the comment about the likelihood of non-friendlies ahead, he remembers the previous battle and unslings his spear. If an enemy drops in front of him he might be able to stick it.... Besides, I can use the butt end of it like a staff for balance.
DM Deevor
|
The quintet slowly march onwards into the clearing, hoping the falling snow will deaden the sound of the their crunching footfalls. Four low igloos stand here in the snow. A well-packed trail of large footprints passes between them, heading both north and west. As the group turn to investigate the igloos, a small fey suddenly appears over 15 ft in the air in front of you, as from his hand a small stone is thrown that strikes Gozrym, with the loud and sharp sound of thunder, loud enough to deafen all but Rerdahl. The little ratfolk, is quick to see the danger and springs into action.
Map updated ... Rerdahl to act...

As before deep snow to move 1 square requires 4 squares of movement without aid, e.g snow shoes.

Seeing another of the annoying fey creatures ahead, and attacking with a blast of thunder, Rerdahl uses a hex to protect one of the leading warriors.
Putting Protective Luck hex on Gozrym.
DM Deevor

The small flying creature flies higher and starts to cast a spell, as it hovers in the air by the tree, out of reach. It's small delicate wings beat furiously keeping it in the air, as the snow falls around it. Some of the white flakes almost seem larger than the creature.
Round 1
Rerdahl - Protective Luck on Gozrym
Blue Flying Creature - moves and casts a spell
The rest of he party are up, before Rerdahl has his 2nd round turn. I have provided an enlarged picture of the foe, on the map, it is diminutive in size.
Round 1
Difficult terrain in deep snow, 1/4 speed.
Snow falling means concealment.
Round 1 of deafness
Rerdahl - armed, actioned
Blue flying thing - actioned
Ragnar armed, deafened
Gozrym armed, deafened

Not much here
| Gozrym Trygve |
Gozrym peeks inside the igloo--if nothing threatening is there, he'll duck inside, hopefully out of sight of the creature.
"Force him to close with us!"
| Ragnar Lothveld |
Ragnar shakes his head as the ringing in his ears grows. He looks up at the creature and casts a spell. A light bursts in the creature's face. He then trudges through the snow 5 feet toward the creature.
20% failure chance: 1d100 ⇒ 92
Cast Flare. Fort DC 12 or Dazzled for 1 minute.
Know Nature: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Round 2
Rerdahl is up..
Vyr recognises the blue creature as a type of atomie, one of the fey, but this one seems to be adapted to the cold, in much the same way as the sprites you came across before. Atomie are known for sneaking up on their enemies whilst invisible and hitting their vital parts with swift rapier strikes. Though this one doesn't have a rapier on him, it looks more like a sickle.
Rerdahl Tollan
|
Seeing Gozrym ducking into the igloo Rerdahl changes the target of his protective hex to the closest person to the flying fey.
Can't tell from the picture but it sounds like everybody but Ragnar and Vir is ducking into the igloo? So target whoever is closest to the creature with Protective Luck.
DM Deevor
|
Entering the igloo, the party seek refuge from the flying creature, whilst Ragnar creates a blinding light that flashes in front of the blue creature that flies above. Vyr informs the party they face another fey, an atomie. He shouts loud, however none but Rerdahl hears his shout. Seeing Ragnar alone facing the atomie, Rerdahl uses his powers to give Ragnar some magic luck.
Just as Rerdahl, finishes his magics, he feels magic behind him congeal and hears the beating of wings as an eagle suddenly appears from nowhere. The eagle attacks the ratfolk, biting and clawing at the small witch. Fortunately the first attack which looked deadly enough to rip the ratfolks's artery from his throat, but the curtain of snow made the sharp and deadly talon snap shut just before it's mark. Rerdahl was not so lucky as the second talon crushed his arm and the hooked beak, bit into his chest, but the plucky Rerdahl stands firm in the snow, calling for help, that falls on deaf ears. Rerdahl takes 7 damage
The atomie, shakes off the dazing light and loads his sling, before sending a stone, hurtling towards Ragnar with unerring accuracy through the snow, as though the falling snow was not a hindrance. Ragnar looked up and snarled at the blue fey. Ragnar takes 7 points of damage and a DC13 fortitude save or be staggered for a round.
From behind Ragnar, a surge of colour washes over the man, he turns quickly to see a small creature disappear into the igloo behind him. DC 12 will save or be unconscious, blinded, and stunned for 2d4 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6 rounds, then blinded and stunned for 1d4 ⇒ 4 rounds, and then stunned for 1 round from colour spray.
Outside the igloo the snow continues to fall on the already deep lying carpet of snow. All is silent, except for Rerdahl who hears Ragnar's shouts.
Round 1
Ragnar - casts daze at the atomie
Gozrym - Gozrym entrer the igloo.
Andrei - Andrei entrer the igloo.
Kilvana - Kilvana entrer the igloo.
Vyr - Identifies the creature as an atomie.
Round 2
Rerdahl - gives protective luck to Ragnar
Summoned Eagle - appears behind Rerdahl and full attacks, 2 hits 7 damage
Atomie - shakes off the spell and fires a stone at Ragnar 7 damage.
Other small creature casts colour spray and disappears inside the igloo.

Ragnar shakes off the effect of the spells and trudges through the snow into the igloo behind him where he saw the fey go.
After entering the igloo I still have my Standard action, I believe
DM Deevor
|
You have a speed of 30ft, so a move action is only one square. You have to travel through 2 squares of deep snow, that means you need 40 ft of movement. So 40ft movement is a full round action. Given that does that change your actions? Movement inside the igloo is unhindered.
| Vyr Embar |
Vyr makes his way into the tent with the others, and looking at Goz, asks over the howl of the wind, "Want to get big?
I assume I can move 1 sq north for 20 ft of movement, and then enter igloo for final 10 ft of movement since it is normal? If so, I will begin casting enlarge person on Goz, if he nods agreement; otherwise it'll be a double move.
Rerdahl Tollan
|
With everyone ducking into the igloo, and a bird almost as bug as him attacking, Rerdahl turns and calls on his hex magic again targeting the eagle with his slumber hex.
DC14 Will Save or fall asleep for two rounds.

Is the summoned eagle on the map somewhere?
No sorry, it´s directly behind Rerdahl, I´ll add the eagle when I get on my own machine.... Seem to have lost my eagle token, but theres a token to represent an eagle now.
I will not be updating tomorrow, out for the night.

Kilava moves out and attacks the eagle.

Ragnar, his mind full of revenge on these nasty little fey makes his way quickly into the darkened igloo. Yet even as he steps in, a sixth sense causes his footfalls to slow and take extra care, as the icy ground falls away into a glistening glass like pit if ice. Ahead of him the fey pixies laugh as he is forced to stay at the entrance.
@Ragnar 80% fail chance, good roll....
All the characters in the igloo are deafened, including Kilvana. So before you continue would you like to let me know how you all know what's going on outside? And how you are going to communicate things like spells and effects, tactics etc, to one another? I was going to let it pass but then I thought it .... hang on a minute folks ... this ain't gonna be that easy.... So let's have a little more thought than just verbal communications. See previous Combat Tracker for Players
On a different note, had a weekend where I did very little but vegetate, so didn't do gaming pbp stuff, hence no progress. This week, Tuesday night off for football, Wednesday night gaming GMimg Starfinder with real live people, so you have a couple of days to think about what you're gonna do.
| Vyr Embar |
Vyr entered the igloo after the deafening attack, and I guess he'd pantomime his question to Goz - he uses the same trinket as when he'd done it on him before, so hopefully he can understand what's coming.
| Gozrym Trygve |
I don't think Goz'd be aware everyone is deaf when he shouted his plan. Gozrym would nod if Vyr was making spellcasting gestures at him. It's sort of their MO at this point.
DM Deevor
|
All but two of the companions, take refuge in the shelter of the igloo as Vyr attempts to activate one of his relics, to enlarge Gozrym. Andrei points for Kilvana to exit and go to protect the brave little Rerdahl as he tries to use his magiks to send the eagle to sleep, humming a lullaby. He watches as the magic flows over the eagle, but to little effect, other than enrage the flying creature. It's beak and claws tear into the young ratfolk's flesh, the talons sharp and deadly rip and slash into his vital organs, leaving Rerdahl's body lying in an ever expanding crimson bed of snow. 9 points of damage. As Rerdahl falls the eagle disappears.
The atomie smiles and sends another shot from his sling at the only humanoid target he can see, Ragnar feels the pain of the stone as it hits his body. Ragnar takes 2 points of damage and a DC13 fortitude save or be staggered. The atomie flies away towards a tree, 25ft in the air.
He watches as the two other creatures fly up through the hole in the roof of the igloo and fire their arrows at him, but both are made more difficult by the falling snow and miss. One of the creatures flies close enough for Ragnar to lean forward and hit it. Attack of Opportunity for Ragnar.
Round 3
Ragnar - goes to attack the enemy in the igloo, but just manages to stay upright without slipping into the pit.
Gozrym - Gozrym waits for Vyrs spell to take effect.
Andrei - Andrei sends Kilvana from the igloo to help Rerdahl.
Kilvana - Kilvana exits the igloo.
Vyr - Moves inside the igloo and starts to cast a spell.
Round 4
Rerdahl - attempts to sleep the eagle
Eagle - continues to attack Rerdahl and Rerdahl falls.
Atomie - Fires a stone at Ragnar, damage.
2 small creatures fly up out of Ragnar's igloo and fire their small arrows.

If you can't get rolls in the private message, can you do you stabilisation roll in a spoiler addressed to me. I don't want players to know when a character is dropped whether they are bleeding out or stable. Thus it creates a bit of a dilemma as to what they should do.

Andrei's magic passes over Rerdahl, allowing him to flicker his eyes open, breathe a little easier as death is no longer pulling him towards the darkness. Rerdalh you have positive HPs, no need for stabilisation rolls now.
Ragnar is able to feel the life of the magical energies wash over him as he heals himself, whilst Gozrym waits cramped up in the igloo as Vyr struggles to take out his deadly morningstar.
